Hi everyone,
Wait till you see what Elizabeth made for her Great Granddaughter’s birthday… It’s all for ONE doll! She mentioned it in her comments Friday, but I thought I’d use those comments to set these pictures up.
From Elizabeth Staples:
I just emailed my photos of the Siblie doll and the closet full of outfits that I finished in time for my Great Granddaughters 10th Birthday, to Jeanne. There are photos of my Great Granddaughter, Delilah, opening the doll and the wardrobe, photos of each outfit with accessories. She really loved the gift! She turned ten so this is a good age to appreciate a Siblie doll with outfits and accessories! Also made a bed with two storage drawers underneath, a cushion for a doll-size chair, and a little dog bed for the puppy!
I can hardly wait to get back to more sewing for the Ruby Red dolls, and hopefully for another Siblie Doll again when I am able to order one for myself to keep! Already, I’m thinking of a few more outfits for Delilah’s doll as Christmas is around the corner…and maybe a school room setting for her Siblie Doll! Delilah liked the little book-bag that had three books and a little pencil that was a real lead pencil! It would be fun making and shopping for little school room accessories before Dec. 25th!
Hope you might want to share with the other “sofa sisters” who enjoy your blog!

UPDATE: I’ve been working with Elizabeth to see if we couldn’t get her pictures enlarged, because most of them were very small. A few of them were crystal clear and larger, but most of them were just too small and when I tried to click on them to enlarge them, they were pretty blurry.
But… this afternoon Elizabeth emailed me the pictures again and they were much bigger and very clear. NOW you can see just why Delilah was so thrilled! You will be too. Enjoy them! :o) AND… you can click on them to enlarge them.
Somehow, I accidentally left out the bed… but here it is…
Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Elizabeth! YOU are ONE busy lady and your work is fantastic! That little Delilah has NO IDEA what kind of time you put into those outfits, the shoes, hats, purses, etc and that bed! You are an unbelievable grandma!!! I’m sure she knows that though!
I hope this week of dolly dresses makes your appointments this week easier to manage! Sit back in that dentist chair and dream up new ideas for your next batch of dolly dresses!
Tomorrow we’ll see outfits from someone who has been buying my doll dresses since 2009! You won’t want to miss them either! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, Jeanne, congrats on a very successful auction! Whoever won it got a lot of value for her dollars, as there are so many mix and match possibilities.
Oh. My. Goodness.!!! Elizabeth, you have outdone yourself! Everything is just wonderful, and you can see the joy and delight on Delilah’s face! Her new Siblie even looks a little bit like her!! The wardrobe case you made for her outfits is wonderful. Did you start with a box of some kind and add to it, or did you build it from scratch? Whichever, I’m impressed, and it’s really terrific. As to the outfits, each one is so lovely and so special. The winter outfit with the pleated skirt is fabulous, and I love her little nightie and slippers, but I think my favorite is her ballet set, complete with leg warmers! Love it all. Thanks so much for sharing.
Somehow I left out the bed, but have added it now…
Oh Elizabeth, would you be my great grandmother too? 😊 That is quite a stretch, since we are probably around the same age, but oh my, what a WONDERFUL great grandmother you are!
I certainly can tell your love for sewing, not to mention your love for Delilah! Each and every outfit is adorable and perfectly made, with a decorator’s eye for color, and design!
That Halloween outfit is just gorgeous, with the bright colors and the way the pumpkins line up on the skirt! Those darling panda slippers and nightgown, the pleated skirt, coat and hat, so sweet! I could go on and on, and then to think that you also made a wardrobe to put all these wonderful outfits in! I would love to see more, and the bed too! I just hope Delilah realizes she is one lucky little girl!
Thank you for sending these pictures to Jeanne, and to Jeanne for showing them!

Oh, I love the bed, too, what a sweet Grandmother you are!
Oh, now the bed is there! What pretty bedding you made for it, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth, I am sure that this birthday will always be a beautiful memory your Delilah. She will never forget it. My favorite thing about it all is seeing her happy face as she looks at all the wonders you made for her.
The outfits are such perfectly done, each different in lovely ways to enjoy. I love the first one in the white and green, and as I went down the list I just love them all. So much love in every stitch. Thank you so much for showing all these to us, and for letting us see the joyful birthday girl.
Thank you, too, Jeanne, for sending these photos.

WOWIE. I am swooning over here. Delilah looks so so happy, these photos are the sweetest ever. I just adore the look on her face.
The clothing is exceptional, absolutely perfection with whipped cream on top!
The dolls look so thrilled to be wearing these gems, all of them, just wow!
When I was Delilahs age, I loved dolls more than anything, more than school for sure! I remember rushing home from school every day to play with my dolls.
Congratulations Jeanne on the sale of your latest ensemble.
Happy cloudy Thursday dear ones.
Maybe we will get some rain, maybe not. Living in Northern Virginia, close to the Blue Ridge mountains.. well, what ever is on the other side moving east north east does not always make it but the mountains get a lot of rain, haha
Somehow I left out the bed, but have added it now…
Jeanne, it’s so wonderful that you have creative sofa sisters that love to share their dollie sewing. I really enjoyed Barbara’s swimming pool and tiny dolls too. Elizabeth and her great granddaughter’s gift was so amazing. All the joy on her face, sweet. The beautiful details and fabric choices for each outfit were perfect. I don’t know much about this doll size and am wondering if Elizabeth had patterns to use for all these outfit styles. What a fun post to wake up with my coffee this morning.
Blessings to Jeanne and all her followers, Doreen

What a treat today! And especially getting to see the birthday treat for Delilah! What lovely and versatile outfits her Siblie doll gets to wear. I love the red jacket with the pleated skirt and scarf. I’d love an outfit like that! All the outfits are adorable. One for each holiday and other fun events. It looks like I’m missing one picture and I’m guessing it’s the bed. I love your ability to make the furniture, Elizabeth. The wardrobe is amazing. I’m wondering what material you used for the white woodwork – it looks so well made.
Delilah’s doll is all set now – all she needs is a sister or friend for her Siblie!
Jeanne, congratulations on your wonderful outfit that sold. All those neat items you added – your clothes and accessories are always so special.
And the other day I was going through some drawers in my doll room and came across my stationery box that I’ve kept all the notes you’ve sent me with each outfit I’ve gotten from you over the years. It was fun to re-read them again. I would jot down each outfit on the note when I received them from you. I’m so glad I’ve kept them.
It looks like fall outside! Yay! I’ve got lots of things to do today so better start with a cup of coffee and get my motor going!
Somehow I left out the bed, but have added it now…
I too have kept all of Jeanne’s notes that came with the outfits I won or bought, but I wish I had thought to jot down what outfits they were. There aren’t that many (I don’t win often) so maybe I can figure it out. Great idea though.
So adorable! What a lucky girl

A big congrats to Jeanne, on a very successful auction. Wow!
And another Wow! for Elizabeth. Delilah is adorable and looks ecstatic opening all of her wonderful gifts. An outfit for every holiday/season/activity. So much fun. Loved the wardrobe too. I wasn’t able to view the fifth photo down. It has a little blue box and says that data was unable to be retrieved. Maybe it was the bed? Don’t know. But, I really enjoyed seeing all of the lovely outfits and happiness that was brought by this amazing gift. Thanks so much for sharing Elizabeth and Jeanne.
Here, it was a hundred for awhile, and we didn’t get anything done outside at all yesterday except an early walk. Just dry heat all day. After I did the watering, that was it. I was fried. So, we went to Costco. Nice and cool in there. Picked up a few things and grabbed lunch. Not sure yet about what we can expect for weather today as it keeps changing. It was supposed to rain, but it doesn’t look like it. Can’t paint if it is going to rain within two hours. So, we’ll see how it goes. 🙂

Really wonderful birthday present! Mine is March 9th . . . Just saying. I couldn’t see the bed either so maybe Jeannie can help get that for us. I don’t want to miss anything. Thanks for sharing.
I see the bed is there now and it is too too cute. The little doggy bed is adorable. You really thought of everything. Thanks again for sharing.
I’ve been wanting Elizabeth to adopt me ever since I saw the first things she did. She’s amazing and Delilah is one lucky great-granddaughter.
You are certainly the most wonderful Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth! Clothes and footwear to match for the whole year! I was especially impressed by the Halloween 🎃 costume and the wonderful umbrella! ☂️ Did you use a frame from another umbrella or is it something that can be ordered? Amazing furnishings as well. What a beautiful, lucky little girl Delilah is. Certainly the most memorable birthday gifts from a gifted seamstress, designer and carpenter on a mini scale. Thanks for sharing with us. 🥰
Wow Elizabeth! Awesome gift for your great granddaughter. I have a granddaughter that will turn 10 in December, and her younger sister 8 on Halloween. A few years back, i gave them an18″ AG and a Wellie Wisher, and planned to make an outfit for each doll each month. But then I broke my thumb, and couldn’t really sew too well, and it all kind of went to the wayside. DD (their mother) tells me the older one isn’t too much into dolls anymore (sob) but the younger one is still interested. Now if only grandma’s hands were a little bit more nimble! I’m very impressed with the bed as well – did you make it? Do you have woodworking skills as well? And the wardrobe is wonderful also!! Would LOVE to see a shot of the full thing!
Hi friends, I’m finally back up and running with a new computer. I’m catching up everywhere one day and place at a time.
I’ll have to go back through the posts I missed and I’m sure I missed a number of fun things. Since I won’t have time to comment on everything I will just say right now that any new doll is lovely, any outfit made is beautiful, and any scene shown is lovely.
Bailey is a cute doll and Delilah looks absolutely thrilled to pieces with her gift! Absolutely beautiful outfits, Elizabeth. My favorites are the black and pink kitty romper (no surprise there :-)) and the seashore set.
The plaid skirt and pea coat are gorgeous and the Halloween outfit is a lot of fun. What a lovely bed with ample storage underneath.
Yes, you are welcome to sew for my Ruby Reds as well. My birthday is May 23rd!! 🙂
We finally received some desperately needed rain yesterday and today. Had had one one sprinkle since July 4th.
Missed that the green with white eyelet pants were kitties. I love that one as well.
Dear Jeanne, thank you for sharing Elizabeth’s outfits. Oh my goodness, they are adorable! I love the expressions on her grand grand-daughter’s face as she sees her gifts.
I am totally gob smacked (I’ve always wanted to use that expression LOL). Elizabeth has done it again. I love each and every one of the outfits, but I was blown away by the Halloween dress. Really lovely. One of my favorites is the green print with the yellow gingham sleeves with the darling hat but I really love all of the outfits. The pleated skirt with the jacket and hat is really special. An outfit for all seasons and almost all occasions. What’s not to like about that. The bed is so cute and the bedding lovely. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful birthday gift – Elizabeth and Jeanne.
I spent yesterday afternoon going through my patterns deciding what to make next. I decided to sew for my L’il Dreamers because they have nothing for back-to-school. Problem is hardly anyone is making patterns for them. I’ve had some success at using Siblie patterns because they are about the same size around just shorter. If I turn up the seam width on the bottom of the pattern pieces and then adjust the hem length, they actually work perfectly so I may go that route since I have a ton of Siblie patterns, but I can’t imagine why few are designing patterns for L’il Dreamers since there are so many of those dolls. Kathy Anne Designs has patterns for them and she is going to use a pattern she has made for a skirt and blouse for the Siblies and reduce it. It’s an adorable pattern and perfect for back-to-school. Les Cheries de Vaniline also does some but they show two views of a pattern but only one set of pattern pieces is included. The views are often totally different so you can’t modify one pattern to get the other and I have no clue why they do this. When I contact them I never get a reply. I actually have a pattern design program that I got because I couldn’t find patterns to fit my Lissy doll. I created a skirt, blouse and jacket that I will be making for her, but it is my first adventure using a pattern design program.
Speaking of weather, we will be getting a front through sometime today. Not much in the way of cooler temps (high 80s low 90s) but the humidity will be down and the air will feel more Autumn-like. But it is coming with a lot of rain we just don’t know when exactly. I believe sometime tonight and definitely tomorrow. I have a friend who posts funny things on Facebook and her latest is something like “You know you’re from Texas when you get a COLD front that drops the temps into the high 80s and you’re excited about it”.
Lol Barbara that is so funny. We have a cold front coming which will drop the temps to 8C (about 46F)! It will come as a shock after the lovely days we have been having.
Yikes! While I do want cooler I’m not ready for 46 degrees just yet. I want to get out walking and 46 usually comes with a very cold wind and not very conducive to walking, especially when the wind is in your face.
Elizabeth that gift to your great-granddaughter is just amazingly wonderful what a lucky little girl and lucky you, none of my grandchildren were interested in dolls. I couldn’t pick a favourite they are all so lovely and beautifully made.
Thank you to everyone who viewed the Siblie doll outfits that my Great Granddaughter received for her 10th Birthday!! And to Jeanne who posted the photos on her blog site to share! Everyone’s comments bring JOY to a day where I spent longer in the dentist’s chair than originally planned. Had the start-up procedure for a crown on a back tooth and the dentist had to use more Novocaine 3 times during the procedure due to my tooth sensitivity. (This was an OLD silver filling done when I was 10 or 11)
My mouth was hanging down droopy on the one side and when I got out to the car, my daughter said “What happened?” I said “Yes, I know …it looks like I’ve had Botox” And she responded, “Or a stroke.” The dentist had said it would take several hours for the Novocaine to wear off and I told him I’d thought about just having the tooth pulled since I’m in my last trimester of life and don’t have 15 or 20 years yet. He said…”You might!” He did say that having the tooth pulled would have been an option but I might miss the tooth for eating. (I really do like creamy soups, oatmeal, pancakes, scrambled eggs, spaghetti and bananas….might need to rethink going through a crown procedure again!)
Anyway, I would rather be sewing for dolls or working on my artwork more than doctor visits!! I am thinking about a few more Siblie outfits for Delilah for Christmas , and maybe a schoolroom setting! It really helps to have a Siblie doll for sizing the outfits and that was my only Siblie. I do have a new 12 inch sweet doll that my daughter ordered for me from TEMU for around $10. or $11.! We wanted to see how their doll compares….she is not articulated but her head and body are almost the size of a SIblie. Her eyes are pretty and her hair is nice but not the same styling as a Siblie. I did bob the long uneven hair and she is really cute with hair just past her chin! Right away, I made a new dress, jacket, tam hat, purse, socks and shoes for her and she would make a good friend to the Siblie doll! (Of course, what with tariffs and all, the Temu doll prices are higher now)
In answer to my Siblie doll items, the bed is made entirely from 1/4 in. foamcore board from Hobby Lobby, and it was also the closet shelving. Foamcore is sturdy and easy to cut with a t-square, x-acto knife, and cutting mat. The drawers under the bed were an after thought…seemed a waste to not incorporate either drawers or a trundle bed. Good thing because the witch hat takes up one entire drawer! The wood-look on the bed is just wood-patterned scrapbooking paper applied with craft glue. The closet starts with one of those decorative paper covered storage boxes, only I set it up on end and glued on the wide ribbon for a carrying handle. The inside of this box had wide black and white stripes so I covered them with scrapbooking papers to create a closet for a little girl doll. Those fantastic 4 in. gold hangers came from TEMU! (Again….price has gone up on those too, but they are still less than Walmart or Etsy online) Michael’s had a lot of those paper covered decorative boxes on sale a month ago for 70% or more off and I am sorry I didn’t purchase more than two of them…..they make great closets or “roomettes” for dolls!
The little umbrella is one of a few that I had purchased a while back knowing I’d use them for dolls. The lace was on it along with white fabric and I hand-sewed the red and white striped fabric over the white fabric. I was pressed for time or might have tried to remove the original fabric and lace but it was nice and secure. The little food items for the beach bag were erasers from a $1.00 bin at Michael’s!
My Siblie patterns are from Kathy Anne Designs, which fit perfectly, and the coat and winter hat were reduced to 90% from a Wellie Wisher Farm Cookie pattern. The Halloween outfit pattern was also reduced to 90% from a Wellie Wisher pattern. I made the ballet leotard pattern by using paper towels on the dolls body and marking with a pen where to sew and then added the seams, since the fabric was a stretch pink knit. reduced the leg warmer pattern from a 14 in. doll pattern. Used a Siblie shoe pattern for the ballet shoes, with some modifications for the soles, and created slip-on sandals with foam core board/cardboard, and fabric and elastics…and tracing the dolls foot often for fit.
Most of my fabrics are ordered from Fabric Shack out of Waynesville, Ohio…their small prints are fabulous, and I have fabrics from JoAnn’s (saved, thank goodness!), and Hobby Lobby or even Walmart. Walmart had the nicest very thin white stretch fabric, perfect for underwear, tights, and socks, but they are carrying fewer cut-by-the-yard fabrics now. A sewer’s fabric stash means more now than ever before!!
Thank you again, everyone for making my day! I’d rather be sewing and discussing dolls than visiting the dentist!!!
Thank you so much for all of the info Elizabeth! It’s amazing that the bed is made of foam core. It sure LOOKS like wood in the photo!
I agree that a fabric stash means more now, but I have to admit that mine is STILL out of hand! AND it needs lots of organizing!
My favorite is the second picture, when Delilah realizes what she’s getting. My aunt Susannah did this for me once about 70 years ago, and, clearly, I never forgot it, though about 10 years ago, I gave Juliet and her wardrobe to Susannah’s granddaughter, which seemed only fair.
Speaking of impressive sewing, my sister Susan sent me this link for a quilt expo in Irving, Texas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp3oWICF0Wg
Amazing stuff and great variety. Some of the quilting was beyond anything I’ve ever seen or imagined.
And, if you want something completely different, here’s this year’s Fat Bear contest. Bears aren’t fat because they are greedy and lazy, they need the weight to get through hibernation. They must have very stretchy skin. Here’s the article
