HI everyone,
If you missed seeing Marilyn’s comment, (the last one) from yesterday, you should go check out the HUGE BEAR contest going on in Alaska… seeing which bear is the biggest and fattest before they hibernate.
I’ve been meaning to do this for a LONG time and finally decided to just do it. It was something I wanted to do 6 years ago when one of our Sofa Sisters was VERY sick and actually not expected to live. She asked if she could see all the things she had bought from me in a slideshow. I got as far as making a list of all her dolly dresses and it’s been sitting in a pile on my computer desk all this time. I’ve looked at it from time to time and thought I better get on the stick with this… But then, a miracle happened, and she got better and was allowed to go home. So I never showed her pictures, until today. I hope I haven’t mentioned too much, or been too personal, but let’s take a look at the pretty things Marilyn has bought from me starting back in 2009! I have a long list and many pictures, so this will take today and Friday.
The very first dress Marilyn bought from me was modeled by Nellie…back in July 2009. A very pretty blue dress.
September 2010: a colorful Regency dress in brown, pink and lime green.
This dress on Nellie, was made in November of 2010, and was one of my very favorites.
This was back in July of 2011… and I hope this is the right dress, Marilyn! The tiny little model was a friend of 7 1/2″ Riley Kish… meet An Mei.
Here is a dress from November 2011 that Marilyn bought. It was just beautiful on Cecile…
In January 2012 this was bought by Marilyn…Janie and Isabelle modeled it. I think I called it “Vintage Valentine.”
In March 2012, I made a very sweet set for Isabelle and it was bought by Marilyn too.
Here is a pretty navy and cream dress on Cecile again. She showed this to the world in April, 2012 and Marilyn won it! Cecile was a very beautiful doll… why did I ever sell her???
Here’s a dress I’ve always thought of as my favorite! I made it in 2012 and just LOVED how this one turned out and maybe it was the photo shoot with Lian, I’m not sure, but I guess Marilyn fell in love with it too! Sorry, but there “may be excessive pictures of this one!”
Here is a lavender Regency dress made in 2012. I hope this is the lavender dress you bought, Marilyn. I had several that were lavender but this was had a note by it that it had a shawl… and a bonnet. I think this is the right one. It was snatched up by Marilyn again. Boy, her dolls certainly have the wardrobe, don’t they?
Here was a dress I made in 2013 for Valentine’s Day, but it wasn’t your typical pink dress; not even your typical red dress… this one was red and black and gray, but it was still would have been Valentine-ish back in the Civil War times.
This sweet blue and white floral dress, made in March of 2013, was called “Classic Blue” and was just gorgeous on Lian, especially with all those pearls sewn on the pintucked diamonds. I guess Marilyn thought so too!
This next pink and white dress was doozie to figure out. I made it in April of 2013 and it took all my pattern making skills to try and figure out how to make those layers “lay down” in the back. When I was done and it passed my inspection, I was thrilled with it and it became my second favorite dress for a very long time. I guess this one did too, for Marilyn. Now she has my 1st and 2nd favorite dresses! It’s getting a few extra pictures too…
Saige was only with me a very short time… but Marilyn bought her debut outfit… a fun western set… I made this in June, 2013. I spray painted her hat navy, made some boot covers and I think Rebecca made her turquoise and silver necklace! Thanks again Marilyn!
This was another one of my favorites on Lian… my goodness, she has modeled a lot of dresses for me, and apparently she sells them very well to Marilyn! This was a dress set I made in August of 2013 and I called it Minnie and Me. I made several of these Minnie and Me dresses over the next few years.
These dress are the first half of Marilyn’s dresses! She was a very good customer and I’m so blessed that she liked me doll dresses back in 2009 and is still a wonderful friend and customer!
I’ll show the rest of her dresses tomorrow! You don’t want to miss them… so please come back!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

As soon as you said, “one of our sofa sisters” was sick, I was pretty sure you were talking about Marilyn. I remember how concerned we all were at the time, and many prayers went up on her behalf. I’m so glad Marilyn is doing so well these days!
I’ve been with your blog Almost since the beginning, I think, and I remember most of these dresses, but it was such fun seeing them again. Marilyn has some very spoiled dollies! Lucky them!
I’m not a huge fan of regency fashions, but I just LOVE that brown/pink/green one you made. I think it’s the prettiest one I’ve seen, actually–and it’s surprising, because I’m not really a “brown person”, either! But there you go.
Although it’s not my favorite of the many LD dresses you’ve made (I have several favorites in that size), I do love how much richness the topstitched grid gives to the bodice on Lian’s blue dress. It really makes the dress, in my opinion, and is such a nice detail.
My favorite of this group is probably the pink and white one she’s modeling. It’s just so girly and feminine!
I ended up spending the afternoon at the service dept.; my tire picked up a nail. So, no regular activities today.
They patched it, but I will be needing new tires soon, so it’ll mean another while spent cooling my heels there, the beginning of October. Well, I guess after 13+ years, it’s time!
Oh, I meant to say, Thank you, Elizabeth, for giving us so many details about how you made the various parts of your gift to Delilah, and answering so many of our questions. I really appreciate it!!
I had NO idea who you were talking about yesterday, but after you gave a few clues today, I just knew it would be our Marilyn! What a lucky bunch of dollies she has! I know she has mentioned about Cecile being one of the prettiest dolls that AG has made, and she is right! Her dark coloring sets off the lace trims on her dresses so well. She certainly does have a bunch of pretty dresses for that pretty doll!
That first dress that Elizabeth is wearing is SO pretty, and such a perfect example of Regency dresses. The darling slip that I actually thought was a dress at first, (and also thought it was REALLY SHEER😊) is just beautiful, along with the pretty blue dress that covers it. And Lian’s pink dress is among one of the favorites of mine, so pretty and delicate! I really like Saige’s western outfit too, with the hat and boots! Something like that is hard to find.
Oh gosh, I could go on and on, but all I can say is lucky Marilyn!
I had no idea that Marilyn had other than American Girl dolls! And one of them is Lian, my favorite, but I don’t have one. So glad Marilyn does and has amassed a wonderful wardrobe for her. Fifteen dresses for different dolls but that’s just so far. Since
Marilyn doesn’t take pictures of her dolls, so glad you took the time to find and share Marilyn’s wonderful collection! And more to come tomorrow! 🥰
Life is bumpy and sometimes very scary but I am quite happy Marilyn is still
with us and in good health. Jeanne, thank you for sharing these pictures of her dresses. I love all of them! Your design, fabric choices and your exquisite skills make each one of your dresses… REALLY a treasure. I really can not pick a favorite. I love that you have worked with so many substrates of fabrics and always make them so life like. I love the vision/imagination you have brought out with each design.
yes, I watch the cameras at Katmai Brooks falls every summer. I know pretty much most of the bears by their number or names.
I am voting for Walker because he is the hugest. I think his number is 151 but not sure…. He is an older bear and by the end of the season, we are not sure if they will show up next Spring. Walker is 18.
My favorite bears to watch are always the recently emancipated sub adults. They are about 3 or 4 and always entertaining.
My very favorite bear is 164 nicknamed Bucky Dent. He is a very comical bear. I think he might be 8 this year.
Happy Thursday dear ones. Today is going to be super humid and drizzly.
I’ve been very fortunate to have so many Jeanne originals. There was a white Regency dress that I missed and still regret, but I did get a lot of treasures.
One of the many things that I love about Jeanne’s period clothes is that they came with appropriate underclothes, which could be used under other outfits as well as the original ones. A surprising number of doll admirers will turn a well-dressed doll upside down to check for authentic underclothes, and they are always surprised and impressed by the layers of froth and lace.
What a good time for this. On Halloween it will have been 6 years since I was sent to the hospice to “get it over with.” At Christmastime, you sent me a whole lot of money for Christmas treats for the staff. Some came to my room munching of crackers and cheese or ham and said thanks. Everyone sends chocolate and they were so happy to have something different.
Dear Marilyn, how wonderful to sit with you on Jeanne’s sofa! I am so happy that you are doing well.
Your doll children are certainly very well dressed. All of the outfits are lovely.
A friend just sent this — Kirsten’s dress in our size!

Amazing dresses!
My goodness, Marilyn, I had no idea than was going on with ladies sewing close like this, unless it was for films or plays. The Kirstin dress is amazing, love reading all about I.
How fun to see Marilyn’s outfits. What a great idea, Jeanne. What a bunch of lucky dolls at Marilyn’s place. I’m not glued to the Alaskan bears, but I have seen a few very funny clips. Just hope that they all have enough to eat to get them through those Alaskan winters. 🙂
Here, we got back to the woodpile as rain was threatening. Have all boards that are headed out of here stacked out in front close to the curb. A neighbor is picking up some today and then I may even put up a free sign until we haul them away. Those remaining are stacked and ready to use as needed. Anyway, no painting happened yesterday, but we’ll be back to it today before it gets too hot this morning and then later when we have some shade. Still a few repairs to make and maybe one more board to replace. We’ll see.
Other person got into the garden yesterday and decided to pull out one of the tomato plants. When I arrived, the damage had been done. The little pumpkin that I’ve been growing all summer was tipped over off it’s board perch and the mother plant stem crushed. I had planned to cut it in a week or two giving it more time to grow. I was livid. But, I ended up cutting the stem and brought the poor thing inside for safety. Can’t leave other person alone in the yard anymore. Grrr
Looking forward to seeing more dresses tomorrow. So fun. 🙂
Joy, I know what you mean about men in the garden. My dear one seldom does anything outside except taking care of the bird feeders and walking to the mail box. Yesterday he went into one of the planted areas to tear down the weeds that had traveled up the porch screen. He was so pleased that I couldn’t mention that he had trod all over some good plants.
Glad I’m not alone in plant fiascos. 🙂
Thanks Jeanne, for getting me back on. Kind of crazy, but it happens. 🙂
The minute you said a Sofa Sister who was sick I also knew it was Marilyn. So very glad God answered all the prayers and she is still on the sofa with us.
What lovely dresses shown today and Marilyn’s dolls must be beautifully dressed.
Jeanne I have really enjoyed the outfits today, especially Lian’s, and so happy for Marilyn’s wardrobe and looking forward for tomorrow’s bunch.
Yesterday’s Quilt show as amazing, the work on those just blows my mind.
See you tomorrow.
Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing photos of the beautiful outfits you made that Marilyn purchased. The ensembles are adorable.
So happy to view Marilyn’s collection of your dress ensembles, Jeanne! You have an eye for detail! My favorites are:
2009: The blue dress with the inserted lace “flounces” on the sleeves, worn by AG Nellie.
2010: Blue print dress with the lace applied to the bodice with 6 white buttons.
2012: Light green with pink floral print dress with the matching beret. And the wonderful detail of the pink ribbon woven thru the eyelet lace at the waistline of the bodice.
2012: Lian’s orange print dress combined with the tiny black and white check fabric piping at waistline and a band at the bottom of the dress trimmed with orange buttons, all the way around the band!
2013: Love the lacey slip worn under the blue print dress adorned with pearls sewn onto the bodice.
2013: That tiny pink floral on a white background dress with the pink “embroidered” lace bodice piece!
All of the dressed in the photos are just beautiful, and the attention to detail is fabulous! Inspires me to take a second look at the dresses or outfits I cut out in the future and see what could be added to make them extra special!
I hadn’t joined the blog when Marilyn was so ill. Although you have shown us dresses from the past before I don’t remember seeing these ones but they are all lovely.
I did read the article about the Kirsten Dress. It was really fascinating, thanks Marilyn. The lady is certainly dedicated and really does her research.
Have a good day everyone.
