Hi everyone,
My plans were to call Word Press today and talk to SOMEBODY who could help get the comments back up and working… That was ALL I really had on my agenda… then the phone rang… an MRI is needed for my hubby… but NO… it couldn’t be on the day of his port being put in and the CT Scan… Oh well, that’s the way it goes… I promise I will work on this the next possible day I am free!
Fortunately, Charlotte saved the day, just like Linda saved the day yesterday! Thank you to both of you!

I admire you for keeping posting, despite all the difficulties with your blog, to say nothing of all you are dealing with “at home”! First of all, thank you to Karen for sharing the wonderful pictures of her children. I enjoyed them so much! The children are really growing up!
This year I entered four items in the local fair. I will intersperse some fair pictures with other pictures I took of things I made, so you can see more details.
The first thing I spotted when I walked into the Open Class building was the smocked nightie I made for myself. It won a blue ribbon! They told me it was the first smocked item anyone had entered in 8 years! It was the only smocked item, so could not win any rosettes (class winner, division winner, etc.) as you have to have at least three items in a class or division to award a “best of” rosette. That’s okay. I told them, I have a blouse cut out, too–now I have to pleat and smock it and then construct it! Maybe it will be done for next year!
Then I got further into the sewing part of the building, and found my black boiled-wool knit wrap with THREE rosettes!! Woohoo!! Class winner (the one with white), division winner, and judges award! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten three awards on one item before! Unfortunately, you can’t quite see how it looks–just looks like a folded piece of fabric–and I don’t have a good picture of it on me; when I get it back from the fairgrounds, I will try to have someone take a picture of me wearing it so you can really see what it looks like. It’s more of a wrap than a jacket, although it does have openings for your arms to go thru. Originally this was supposed to be our 2021 twinsie challenge, but we all know what happened in 2020, and there was no in-person Expo the following two years, so it got put on hold. Finally this past year we decided it was time to make up that fabric we bought, and so we did!
Then I found my black and white jacket. Some of you may remember seeing pictures of me wearing it when I shared Expo pictures earlier this year or last year–it was our twinsie challenge from 2025 (we can enter things made within two years). Another blue ribbon.
Then I found the little purse I made–another blue ribbon. This was this year’s “twinsie challenge” item–Tonya and I bought the fabric with the lines across it, and the item was a “little purse”. I found the matching zipper, strap and zipper pull at the Expo, and thought they went very well with the challenge fabric. I added an interior pocket for my credit card and ID, which you can see in the second picture of it, and the third picture shows a better look at the zipper pull.
On the 8th, I will go to the fairgrounds to retrieve my items.
Last Friday I met my friend Marika at a local restaurant for lunch–and we brought our dolls, of course! Molly and Annie are dressed for the first day of school Molly is wearing a jumper and blouse I made some years back. That jumper fabric is one of my favorites–I wish I’d bought more than that 1/2 yard! Hindsight is 20/20, you know! Sadly, Molly’s glasses have yellowed with age–they are the original glasses that came with her when I got her in the late 90s. I am sorry, I forgot to ask Marika where Annie’s school outfit came from. Anyway, we had a nice time, and our waitress enjoyed seeing our dolls!
