~ SUMMER SWEETIE ~ is now listed on Ebay…

Hi everyone,
I was a bit sluggish today…becasue I stayed up too late getting all those shorts and flip flops listed in my Etsy shop! I had to push myself or I was never going to get it done…

Well, turns out, because of my sleep deprived state, early this morning, I accidentally posted the price for shipping the same as the price of the shorts and flip flops… TWENTY THREE DOLLARS! One lady bought 3 items and it showed the shipping was $27.00 and some odd cents. I knew something was wrong, so I checked and on about half of the items I listed last night, they were wrong… instead of saying shipping was $5.00, it showed $23.00! EEK!!! So I had to change all the ones that were wrong and refund the lady the difference where she overpaid. That’s not the great start I was hoping for… but now things are straightened out… Whew!

I did manage to get Violette’s outfit listed on Ebay… You can see it if you click the picture at the right sidebar… or you can click HERE. I have the one lady’s things boxed up and must be heading to bed soon…

Sorry, but that’s been my day! Oh… I did do some dishes and cooked dinner! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, my goodness, Jeanne! That wasn’t what you wanted to do! So glad you caught it fairly quickly, and I hope others who may have seen the incorrect amount will come back and look again!

Violette’s outfit is just as cute as it can be, and I suspect there would be some “discussion” around here as to whose it should be, should they happen to see it! I am particularly fond of that top; the fabric was a real find for you. (I need to go to the thrift store more often….)

We have backslidden into February, I think, with temps in the very low 40s, and our rain even had a few “lumps” in it today. Up in the mountains they got a LOT of snow, and even had to close one of the passes for a while, the snow was so heavy as to cause several semi-truck accidents. Yikes! I’m glad I don’t drive in the mountains. I tried it once; going up wasn’t bad, but coming down, it was white-knuckle all the way for me! I do Not like mountains!

Rosemary, here on the East Coast of the S. Island we have had hardly any rain for 3 or 4 weeks, just the odd sprinkle. Other places not so lucky, and there is snow forecast for the mountains and higher hills. Winter is coming. I missed (didn’t miss at all lol) winter last year because I was in the UK. If I had lots and lots of money I would buy a house on the Sunshine Coast in Australia and stay there in the winter or go to Uk and visit my family. Maybe I would do both.

Wow, Jeanne, I am amazed that the woman who bought your items went through with the sale knowing how much it would cost to ship! I sure wouldn’t, and you were lucky that she did, although that was the right thing to reimburse her. When I find anything at a good price, then see the shipping price, that makes or breaks the deal!

Violette’s summer outfit is darling and such a complete outfit too! Now all she needs is a dolly mommy to get it for her doll and a picnic to go to!

After a stormy night, we are in the “clear” and it will be a nice sunny day today after yesterday’s rain. We needed it! My azalea bush is in full bloom and the Iris are starting to open! Spring is truly here!

Sounds like spring is happening at your place with the blooms and nice weather. 🙂

The shipping cost is precisely why I don’t knit to sell. E Bay is a bit inconsistent if you don’t put in your own shipping costs. On the same page that Summer Sweetie is listed I saw a doll, in a box, complete (I presume with outfit as well) listed at NZ$172.53, Shipping cost was NZ$55.16. A dress for a doll was listed at NZ$25.36, shipping cost was NZ$78.42! Go figure.

Such a sweet doll and outfit, Jeanne! I really wish all this with these dolls started up when I was still buying dolls. I am so glad you caught the shipping boo boo! Nice that you have sold 3 already. Here is hoping you will sell more today.

We will be out again, this time going to our monthly lunch with my high school class mates. Peyton loves being with them as much as I do. We are down to a small group but it is still nice to be there.

    Have a good day, Y”all.

  4. Happy Thursday dear sisters.
Oh my gosh, Violette looks so cute, really sweet. This is a good starter price and I know it will go zippy fast. Jeanne, I hope you are still able to keep up with the house and yard duties. I hope George is also recovering perfectly!

I am just a little bit sore today from all of the packing and moving getting Christina’s huge van loaded. She got a good van, huge. We had a great time together. We love being silly and
The old house is almost empty.
I will spend a few days on my own going through the remaining boxes of treasures that I need to actually go through because they are for Elizabeth’s (estranged dear daughter) and make it into something I can actually store…. somewhere.
Then the family room with Charity: Blue Ridge truck can not come until May 14 (my fault for not calling earlier) but the boxes of stuff, knick knacks, curtains drapes pillows clothes books curtain rods, shoes, coats etc, I can deliver in my car to the shop in Leesburg in short trips. That is good,. we have a Costco up there too.

We have unusually warm weather this week and the news people are going berserk over it. Next week it will be cooler than usual. Since it is so stinking “hot” I will go to the old house today and bring my xm radio (on my phone) and just do the stuff.
I can’t wait to get back to sewing.
Joy, I am looking forward to seeing your new boy in your gardens!!

Thanks Rosemary. Hope that I can get to that soon but today we have had high winds. So windy that we actually have had several fires around the county. One, just over the hill from us, but they stopped it at one acre. Interesting as it was in the fire path of the big Tubbs Fire of 2017. The hills look so green and lush still, but the fire danger is still there. Ugh

  5. Oh, Jeanne, good thing you did the dishes and made dinner. Two big wins.
Funny story, totally unrelated, but maybe from the stand point of earning a medal!!
Christina and I found a bag full of my father’s senior olympics medals, they had previously been displayed in a huge frame that my daughter Christina made for him. Anyway, now that was dismantled and all of the medals were in a bag. I found the bag, most of the medals (all tennis, mostly gold, dad played well into his 80’s) said Maryland Senior Olympics. and the year. And there are a few that were just gold medals.
I asked Christina what we should do with these medals?
We are very silly and thought creatively about just handing them out to individuals that are outside exercising. I could carry the medals with me in my car. For example, yesterday morning, as we were driving to the old house, I saw a guy, mid 40’s out running/jogging. He did not look like he was loving it, but he was persisting. He deserved a medal. I did not have one to give him, but I will carry the medals in my car. They are well earned medals

Dear Rosemary, how wonderful that you have the medals. If you decide that you cannot keep them, you might look on some of the sites on which collectors post. The medals might be a collectable item.

Many years ago, I rented a table at a large outdoor swap-meet. I remember that a man came to my table looking for pins (Boy Scout, etc). I had no idea that pins were collectable items. I didn’t have any so he just moved on.

There may be a local historical society or library archive that might display them.

In any case, what lovely memories you have.

Nearly 40 years ago, when my second son was boarding with my Dad, (we had moved to Napier then), they had a burglary. Darren lost heaps of stuff, He had all kinds of electrical items plus sports gear (skis and stuff). Dad lost two items. The last gift my Mum had given him the Christmas just before she died (on Jan 6th) and his WWII medals. Darren’s stuff was all replaced by insurance but the watch was irreplaceable even though he was paid out for it. Unfortunately, Dad didn’t realise that the medals were missing at the time so they weren’t reported to the police so we can’t replace them either.

      1. Joy in northern CA

Here, WWII metals can be replaced for free. Other person had all of his dad’s replaced not long ago. They were lost when his dad’s ship, The Lexington, went down. Maybe NZ does the same?

So sorry about the shipping incident, but excited that all is fixed and selling has begun. Violette’s little outfit and flips is so cute and summery. I’m sure that it will be a big hit with her set. 🙂
Here, my dental cleaning went well and when I arrived home, I couldn’t find other person. I was shocked to find him out in the back yanking out weeds! Thought that I had seen a mirage. We had a can in the truck to take to the other house before pick up, so I guess that he decided that he could fill another can to help fill up the can up there. Our can was already completely stuffed and very heavy. So glad for those empty cans on garbage day. Anyway, we headed to the other house and put out the filled can as well as the regular garbage can which doesn’t go out every week. Got rid of an old hose that’s been laying around forever and a metal stake as well. Love to get rid of trash that has been around way too long. Anyway, then, we headed to Lowe’s in the next town, since there isn’t one here, and picked up the new lawnmower blade. Having a sharp blade mades for a much nicer mowing job, for other person. 🙂 Stoppp at Arby’s and I had a gyro which was delicious. Came home and got in a walk. Then, I finished up the day with filling another can with weeds in the back. I’m so happy to be seeing more gravel once again. While I was yanking, I discovered a clump of daylilies. I know that there are more, but not sure in which direction to look. Maybe I’ll have more time today for yard work.

    1. Hi Joy, congrats on George. He is a cutie. Hope we see him soon. I love the Sara sculpt and skintone which we don’t see together anymore. Unfortunately, George and Holiday Sara came out before I knew of RR.

      1. Joy in northern CA

That’s a good idea. I’ll see if I can get a pic of him and his partner. I kind of keep an eye out for some of the older RRed’s that I like. Just happened to look at Ebay, on my want list, at the right time.

  7. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, the outfit looks so sweet.

In the end, you fixed the shipping typo and I am sure the lady was happy for the refund.

  8. I’m actually shocked the lady purchased the items knowing how high the shipping was for I assume three small pairs of shorts. I certainly wouldn’t have.
If it was some retired Pleasant Company item I had wanted I would have probably contacted the seller to see if we could work a better shipping, but likely would have just looked elsewhere as there is always a better deal somewhere.
Violette’s summer set is very sweet.

I definitely would have been in shock with that shipping but reading your blog I would know that had to be a mistake because you mentioned how you were going to do the shipping. But anyone not reading your blog would not have known for sure. Glad all is fixed now. I often find things on eBay I’m interested in but the shipping is not doable. I look further and find the same item with a lower shipping cost and often a lower price.

I saw on the weather the other day that there is still a lot of cold weather in Canada. For us that is good because it often means we actually have a spring. We will be in the 80s today and tomorrow but will have storms on Saturday and the temps will drop. I think Monday we will be in the low 60s all day and then a couple days of 70s. Those days will be lovely. M

My daughter lives in Maine. We video chatted yesterday and were both sitting outside. I was quite comfortable here but I noticed after a while she started pulling her sweater tighter and the next thing I knew she was inside on the couch. She said it was getting a bit chilly outside just sitting there. I laughed. My Texas raised daughter loves the cold and soon after she married they moved to Colorado near Denver and then to northern Colorado. Now they are in Maine and really experiencing winter and she is quite content. Since David and I were both raised where we actually had a winter that’s not surprising since they say it takes three or four generations to acclimate to an area so Texas was always too hot for her since she is a first-generation Texan. The natives around here are wearing parkas and mukluks as soon as the temps drop below 70 when David and I are finally comfortable and just opting for long sleeved shirts. By contrast they are enjoying being outdoors when it’s in the 90s while I’m hibernating in my air-conditioned house.

I will be checking out the Etsy site. So many cute pairs of shorts and I love the flip flops.
