Hi everyone,
Great News! My hubby and Reuben went to work on something so I had the whole house to myself and I actually concentrated on getting Emmie’s new overalls set listed on Ebay. I decided to call it “October Charm” and hope you’ll tell all the Little Darlings you know to check it out! I was going to get out my pumpkins, and haybales and some leaves and make some cute little scenes with them, but, I totally forgot! Silly me! So you’ll just have to pretend they are there as you look at the white background and a few pictures with the gray. Sorry!
If you’d like to check it out on Ebay, you can click the picture at the right side-bar or you can click HERE.
Here are a few pictures that are new… I didn’t go to town today so I don’t have a picture of the “sweet treat” but one will be included!
Well, that’s it for me today. I have to do some other things…
I’ll be back tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Such a cute outfit, Jeanne; I’m sure someone will be really happy to have it for her Little Darling. It’s nice to have options as to tops to go with the overalls, and that hat is such a cute accessory. I love it!
Oh, I meant to add: Joy, yes, do get your manual out for your machine, and look up “stitch length regulator” or something like that! I actually do have a Babylock machine, but it’s one of the smallest, simplest ones, and is about 30 years old now. I bought it to use as my “travel” machine (before I knew about Featherweights), and mine had a round dial to adjust the stitch length.
What I have done with my manuals is to make notes or at least add sticky-notes to the front, for things I need to know but not often enough to use every day and thus remember!! For instance, on my sewing machine manual (my main one is a Viking #1+), I have things like the buttonhole page and the zipper foot page marked, as I don’t use those features all the time.
Great ideas Charlotte
Yes, that is what I should do! I also should find somewhere to take the machine and have it serviced. The original shop closed during Covid. Thanks for the good ideas, and I’ll look for stitch length regulator. 🙂
I have marked in my manual the size of the zig-zag stitch I use for appliques and the stitch size I prefer for doing picot edging. Those are things I would have to take time to determine each time if I didn’t do that since there is no way I would ever remember those numbers off the top of my head.
Oh, this sounds like good ideas too. Thank you!
I do things like that, too, Barbara. I’m glad you mentioned it! I also write in my pattern directions and sometimes even right on my pattern pieces. I learned long ago the things I am “sure” I will remember…I don’t!! 😂
Everything just came together perfectly, Jeanne! That last picture reminds me of my granddaughters coming over to spend a day with grandma, and bringing along an extra top, because “things” happen! And who wouldn’t want to play Scrabble with her?
I wonder if this outfit could also be worn by Betsy McCall or the Wellie Wisher’s
, because I use their things interchangeably. Just sometimes, it doesn’t work, but this outfit isn’t a closely fitted one, except maybe the blouse?
This outfit is a winner Jeanne. I love the listing, you took some lovely photos.
Nice that you were able to focus and get this completed.
Aren’t we always busy!! I have a lot to do today as well, but will try to spend a lot of time in my sewing room making leaf blocks and cutting more fabric bits.
Hubbs is taking Princess kitty to the vet for her check up. I would take her but he made the appointment so early :-/
Are all of you having chilly days?
This week-end will probably be two days of raking!!!
Enjoy this happy Thursday everyone
Getting chilly out here in the greater Seattle area, Rosemary. Today (Thur.) our high was only 56!! Brrr. I want summer back!
So glad your adorable outfit is listed, Jeanne. I know it will sell well for you.
Today is another busy one. We will be going to my monthly high school class lunch, so on the way we will pass Darien, the main town place of our county. We will stop by our church’s thrift shop and unloading several piles of stuff. Next drop off something at our church office for the Cursillo happening this weekend. Then go to the county election office to vote on something, then on to lunch.
So you will know, Cursillo is a 3 day weekend where people spend time getting closer to God. Peyton and I attended it in 1999, and we went on for several years attending on the team. I know there are other several similar weekends for other churches. Have any of you been to one?
Wishing you all a happy cool day.
I’ve never been to Cursillo. Due to other commitments, usually children or church choir related, I’ve never been able to free up all the days necessary to attend. The Episcopal Church has a wonderful camp just north of us that has a great summer camp which my kids and grandkids have attended. They also have weekends throughout the year for just about everything and age group. Never made any of those either. I’m good with one-day events, otherwise not so much.
I am sorry, Barbara. It is really worth making the time. Our Episcopal Church has a wonderful camp area too. Cursillo is there and the chapel is so lovely. They have summer camps too. Our Church sends many kids there. I hope you get to go sometime.
Sissy, yes, I have heard of the Cursillo retreats, but have never gone on one. They are usually Catholic, which I am, but the Episcopal Church has them too. I know several people who have gone and have really enjoyed them.
I hope you get to go sometime, Linda. I know that our Episcopal retreat has had Catholics there, too.
Love the idea of Emmie spending the day at grandma’s place. Thanks Linda. She really looks adorable in that outfit and all ready for some playtime. Good for Jeanne, getting it all together in her “free time.” 🙂 Does anyone really have any free time? Not much around here.
Yesterday, we got in a walk, but it was so wet that nothing happened outside. This morning, heavy tule fog, so it’s wet again. But, I think we’ll see some sun later on. That would be great.
After the cat fiasco yesterday, this morning, we do not have any cats awaiting breakfast. Hopefully, they both decided to go home. 🙂
I’ve decided to make a very short pleated skirt out of that same plaid dress fabric for another Ruby Red. Been trying to pleat it and not show the whitish color of which I’m not fond. I would love to make a sweater from a sock to go with it, but can’t find a pattern. Anyone found one that fits well? And, my latest slightly used Christmas Ruby Red girl from years past arrived without issue. Managed to reach the porch first and set my umbrella down in front of the box for camouflage. Worked perfectly and I was later able to grab the box and bring it inside unnoticed. I also removed my first glued on wig. Thought it would be difficult, but whatever glue was used pried off pretty easily. 🙂 Then, I put on a cute new solid color wig that she is really enjoying. She looks so much better without two tone hair. In my opinion. It was black and fluorescent red 🙂
I think a pleated skirt with that fabric would be great. I’m not big on the multi-color wigs either. That’s my only problem with Siblie Sydney, the reddish streak through her hair. She says it’s cool so I haven’t bothered to try to change it. Do you use a Perfect Pleater for your pleated skirts? I have one and am going to use it to pleat a uniform skirt for Bella. I can do accordion, wide or box pleats with it. I have a great pattern for the younger girls but was trying to figure out what kind of uniform Bella should wear when I thought a pleated skirt with a white blouse would be perfect.
I do have the Perfect Pleater, but with the plaid, it’s easy to just do it along the lines. But, I would like to also make a pleated black short skirt too. The pleater would probably work for that. I think anyway. I’ve never used it. 🙂 A white blouse with a pleated skirt sounds like a perfect uniform.
Some of the RR wigs only have a little bit of color added. I’ve seen where many people have simply snipped out the offending color and all was well. Not sure if it can be done though on a wig still on the doll.
Joy, Congrats on you umbrella hiding, glad it worked. Looking forward to seeing the new doll and the new skirt.
Thanks Sissy. She looks pretty spiffy without the color streaks and really needs an outfit. Not a fan of the fancy outfit in which she arrived.
Dear Jeanne, the outfit is adorable! I think the Little Darling who gets this (and her Mama) is going to be squealing, “yeaaaaaaa!”
“October Charm” is precious! And the pants fit so well and look great with the t-shirt top or the floral blouse! I wish I had a Little Darlings doll….who doesn’t have a wish list in the back of their minds?! I will just continue to find pleasure in sewing for the Ruby Red dolls on my shelves.
And that miniature Scrabble Game set is perfect. You know me….I LOVE miniatures to go with dolls and if I were to see this miniature game in a store, I would be purchasing 3 or 4 to have on hand for future doll outfits! I had once purchased a few keychains that had a realistic gameboard and playing pieces in a plastic box printed just like the real thing, and have included them (without the keychain attachment) with doll outfits I made for my oldest Granddaughter when she was younger, and who is currently working on her master’s degree!
I have a site I keep bookmarked called “Small Stuff’s PrintMini: Printables”…they are free to print and offer several size categories from very small scale, dollhouse scale, Barbie size, and instructions on how to print AG size minis. Many different categories to choose from: Music and games, art, posters, books, office supplies, kitchen and garden items, school supplies, holidays, signs, furniture and appliances, Victorian minis, wallpaper and flooring and patterns to construct various household boxes. You just need a good home printer, color ink, and good quality printing paper or even lightweight card paper that will go thru your printer.

I love that website, Elizabeth! What I am looking for now is Girl Scout cookie box printouts. Do you know where I could find those, or really anyone else reading this? I’m planning a GS cookie sale after the holidays, and need cookie boxes.
Thanks for the link Elizabeth. So many choices of things.
This outfit is so adorable. I love the addition of the striped shirt. And the Scrabble game really tops it off.
I recently bought a Mori Lolli doll. Does any of my Sofa Sisters have one of these? She’s really cute but I had no real idea what she looked like until she arrived. I like her eyes as is, but I can easily change them any time I want. She has a saddle stand which I wish all my dolls had.
