Girls in Green for St. Patrick’s Day!

Hi everyone,
It couldn’t have happened at a better time, but lookie here… Linda sent me some pictures for St. Patrick’s Day! I’m so glad she did because yesterday was my hubby’s birthday and I had ZILCH to share with you… So take it away Linda, and everyone chatter about what you see! Kristoffer was here and he thought we should call the board shorts, Dude Shorts! So, I’m considering his input… I’ll get back with you about them… several of you were interested…

Linda is narrating…

Jeanne, I have been under the weather lately, with a really terrible sinus cold. It’s about over, but I have not been doing much of anything lately, just trying to breathe and rest! Plus blow my nose! I mentioned that I had some St. Patrick’s Day pictures but see that I never sent them. I don’t know what you have planned for this week, but if you need anything, here are a few.
Linda💕🤧

Here is Felicity, with her “green” on! I know she didn’t really celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but at my house she can! This is actually Elizabeth’s Tea Lesson gown and cape.

Remember you can click on the pictures to enlarge them, but beware, if you do and try to make a comment, then look at another picture, you comment will disappear… sorry!

Cecile and Kirsten, also wearing a bit O’ green! Cecile has her green parrot that she let out of the cage.

The 40’s girls are all decked out for the St. Pat’s parade! Notice the two lovely green sweaters on the right. Those were made by our “resident sweater maker”, none other than Anne Coldron!

The modern girls are dressed up in their green too! That’s Scarlett dressed as a Celtic princess! Looks like Emmy caught the leprechaun!

This is a bonus picture of the winter concert we had a month ago. The lovely vocalist is Josefina!

LOVELY, as always Linda… I hope you get to feeling back to normal soon… colds are not much fun!
Thank you for the wonderful pictures of your girls in green! Loved them!!

See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, happy birthday to George! Hope you two and Kristoffer have a wonderful day together!

Linda, thanks so much for sharing your pictures. They are so much fun to see. I’m 100% Swedish, so I don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but I do love to watch Irish dancing, and I see that two of your girls are Irish dancers! (3rd picture) The sweaters Anne made are just lovely, and such a pretty, soft shade of green! I love Felicity’s dress, too, as well as Kirsten’s (well, I have Kirsten, so I guess it figures). Scarlett makes a lovely Celtic princess! And I loved your bonus holiday picture, too. Molly’s hair is so pretty, with the braids ties up like that! And I love her jumper and blouse, but I’ve always been fond of jumpers, and have worn them, even as an adult!

Yesterday Rosemary mentioned about her sister-in-law in Marquette (MI) having so much snow. I have a cousin who lives there, and two who live in the Ishpeming (next town over) area! My dad was born and raised in Ishpeming, also! I have been there many times, especially as a child–we lived 100 miles south of there, in a little town called Stephenson. 💖 Yes, indeed, I am a Yooper!! (That’s someone who currently lives in or grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula [“U.P.”]!) I even have Yooper bumper stickers on my car!

    1. Nice to know, Charlotte. I have been to several Otwell family Reunions all over Michigan and one in Indiana? I love Marquette so much in the Summer, but Michigan is a beast in the winter!

  2. Linda in St. Louis

First of all, a late Happy Birthday to George! Being born so close to St. Patrick’s Day, I wonder why your name isn’t Patrick, George? 😊☘️

Thank you, Charlotte! While I am mostly German, Michael is over half Irish, on both sides, and with the names of Murphy and Doyle, you can’t miss it! We don’t do anything crazy to celebrate, but I make Irish Soda bread and Shamrock Shake pie.
I too, have friends in Marquette, MI, and they are stuck in snow!

I just try to find green outfits for the dolls, and have quite a few to come to think of it, as you can see here! I could have put Felicity in her green riding habit, but she wore that last year, so I did something different. Cecile and Kirsten have their green on, and they wore that last year, but hopefully, nobody will notice!

Those pretty green sweaters Anne made, of course are new, and I wanted to showcase them.

The modern girls have their own little scene, and I thought Scarlett would make a pretty Celtic princess. Somehow, Ivy doesn’t work as a Celtic princess!🤣

The concert picture was from a month or so ago. I have a lot of instruments, so I thought it be a good idea to use them. I have more, but not enough dolls or room to put them all together. I tried to keep the colors black and gold, and Josefina was the perfect soloist!

Thank you Jeanne for showing the pictures!🥰

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh, that is great! A “special” St. Patrick’s Day wish to George Patrick! ☘️

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Linda, your doll children are lovely and so well dressed! Thanks for sharing their adventures with us.

    2. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Thank you, Linda, once again for your lovely scenes! My faves are the dancers, I have the large dancer dress and it fits my 19 inch doll.
All your dolls are dressed so beautifully and I love Anne’s sweaters! The doggies are adorable in their hats, too, and the chorus is beautiful too.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Sissy! I’m thinking you just be referring to Molly in the Irish dance costume? I like that too, much better tha. Some. Of the more modern ones that seem a bit too flashy for me! I don’t really recall dancers wearing sparkly costumes in the 40’s, but I could be wrong.
I was so glad to be able to show the two sweaters that Anne made, a d this was the perfect opportunity.

    3. Joy in northern CA

In my computer frenzy this morning, I forgot to mention how awful that sinus cold may be. Hope you are on the mend and can start enjoying that summer weather that may be heading your way. That is if it is blowing from here. Take care.

Have to leave to the Y and the grocery store, then come home for a very large pile of laundry.
I LOVE Linda’s pictures and will catch up when I get back.

  4. These photos are the cutest! Linda, you did make a great and perfect effort to create these happy scenes. Yay, Happy Saint Patties Day! Your dolls are beautiful. I love these outfits. Those green sweaters made by Anne are very very nice! Felicitie’s table of treats and her doll collection are so cute. This is so sweet.
All of the photos! The concert scene is very nice too! I like instruments!

sinus infections and colds are the worst. …. so much kleenex and the raw nose and just everything! Ugh, I hope you have another day of improvement today!

Jeanne, Happy Birthday wishes to George! Yay! I am sure it was a great day!
So nice to have Kristoffer over too. Dude shorts is good!!!

Well, if you were in the path of the “weather” yesterday, …. just wow, wasn’t that a mood swing by mother nature! We are in Northern Virginia, and it turns out we were fortunate to not have any tornados. We had a lot of pouring down rain!
The air felt very warm, it is did get really windy, but… the house is still standing.
I zipped out early in the morning and brought the yard cans in from the old house, and stopped by the Lidl to get some milk and stuff. Then I came home and just sewed all afternoon. I would like to clone myself, so my other self could get some things done around here… !!! I am just too busy doing fun stuff.
I made a GOOSE from some old fabric. I used a pattern from Etsy.
Last evening we watched a tv show (some drama thing) and I have a small set up down stairs here with sewing stuff… and cut out many more Goose pattern pieces from various old fabrics and old high quality (torn/thinned) bed sheets. So now I am going to sew a flock of Geese. I am not sure how much lightweight interfacing I have, but I ordered some more from free Walmart delivery 😛
Today is going to be 38º and sunny but quite windy.
I used to know a good funny riddle about St Patrick’s Day…
What’s Irish and stays out side all night?

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, .Rosemary! I love dressing up my dolls, but when somebody sees and appreciates them, it makes it double the fun!
Maybe you can show us your goose when you get it finished!

  5. What fun and happy photos. Those sweaters caught my eye right away. The color and cable knit are gorgeous, Anne is soooo talented. Scarlet as a Celtic princess is beautiful, love her entire outfit. And the winter concert is amazing, so glad Linda included it. Also so appropriate with today’s snowy weather! All the concert outfits are very so pretty and Josephina’s outfit is stunning. From her crown to her shoes. And that skirt is awesome. Thank you so very much for sharing the photos.
    Have a great day all.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

I agree, Dorothy, those sweaters are so eye catching! I absolutely love them! And I agree that Scarlett makes a beautiful Celtic princess!
The winter concert was fun to put to get her, and that dress that Josefina is wearing was just perfect for her! It really isn’t Josefina’s dress, but I think she shows it off very well.
      Thank you so much!

Congratulations to George, and Happy Birthday.

At our school, there was a large, very nice family. One of the youngest children was born on St. Patrick’s Day, and they had used up most common boys’ names, so they were pleased to have a reminder that Patrick was a nice name. It wasn’t until they were ready to bring little Patrick home that they realized that Patrick Kilpatrick might not have been an ideal choice.

I love Linda’s scenes and the way they often fit into Jeanne’s busy schedule.

  7. Debbie in North Carolina

    Happy Birthday to George!

Felicity and Kirsten are my all time favorite AG’s and they are looking lovely as usual. Felicity looks stunning in Elizabeth’s green outfit. As always, Linda your 40’s girls are my favorite dressed for the holiday of the moment. I think they trigger my own memories of grade school and the excitement of the holiday. My grandmother never failed to call before school and remind me to wear green.

Today all the dolls that fled the doll room yesterday for the “storm that wasn’t” will find their way back to their rightful places. The green will be replaced with spring florals and Easter baskets. Sometimes it takes a crisis to mix things up.

    Happy Springtime!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Debbie! Felicity was my second American Girl doll that I bought after Molly, and Kirsten is my last doll that I have bought. I love the diversity in their outfits and timelines. I bought all of .Elizabeth’s clothes for Felicity, giving her wardrobe extra clothes. Kirsten wears all of hers, plus some of Addy’s.
Oh yes, I remember being in grade school and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day too. However, I don’t recall wearing anything green, but I have green eyes, so that worked out!😊
So glad you dodged the weather bullet!

      1. Debbie in North Carolina

I love Addy’s clothes for Kirsten. I don’t own them but think they are right for Kirsten. I hope you turn the corner to wellness soon!

  8. Linda in St. Louis

Are you kidding me, Marilyn, about the names? That’s crazy that they wouldn’t have thought about that until they were going to bring him home! Wonder if he got to change his name! And what to? My son’s name is Brian, and that would have gone perfectly, but then his middle name is Patrick, so again, another problem!

I’m happy for my scenes to “fit in “ with Jeanne’s busy schedule!

  9. How wonderful to see your sweet St. Paddy’s Day scenes, Linda. I have Irish heritage among others so it’s fun to celebrate this special day. Éirinn go Brách 🇮🇪🪉☘️ The kitties have their appropriate toys, but once again I didn’t find the time to dress anyone.
Wow, it looks like you may have everyone in the show this year.
Of course Felicity is lovely as she’s a favorite. Kirsten is a dear in her work dress and Cecile looks wonderful in MG’s party dress.
Your 40s girls look so cute and those darling sweaters from Anne are gorgeous.
Scarlett makes a lovely Celtic Princess. I’ve eyed that gown from Capatina a few times along with the tiara. Is the crown from there as well?
The concert is fantastic. I have the violin as well. Josefina is stunning in whatever dress that is. Thank you for sharing them all.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Laura! Well, not everyone got in the pictures, poor Kaya didn’t make the cut! I was at a loss as to what she could be doing or wearing for St. Pat’s!
Yes, I did get the Celtic princess gown and crown from Carpetina, but many years ago, and while they do still sell the gown, I cannot find the crown. They do have what they call a Celtic tiara, but it is not as elaborate as the one I have. At the time I got it, it was the only one they had.

You seem to know exactly what the names are for the outfits! It takes one to know one!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you too!☘️

  10. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, sending birthday cheers to George.

The office calendar I selected this year shows Paris scenes. Right now I am strolling along a cobble stone street in Montmartre. Je suis très content.

  11. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

I have some Irish in me and wore my St. Patric’s day shirt yesterday, but it was way to cold today for a t-shirt! The weather is supposed to be cold here all week, in the thirties! Crazy weather for March here. I hope y’all stay warm!

Happy late Birthday, George Patrick! I hope he is still having a good time, and you, too, Jeanne!

  12. Joy in northern CA

Very late today. Mouse and keyboard decided to take the day off, so I’ve been spending time getting everything working again. While fooling around, I did find how to enlarge the cursor arrow and directional thing when typing. Now they are way too big, so I’ll have to go back and make them smaller.
Anyway, a big Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. You don’t have to be Irish to celebrate either. Although, I do have some. 🙂 First thing this morning, I assembled the crockpot contents and the whole house now smells like corned beef. Should be good by dinner time. Can’t wait to toast some rye bread too.
Although this is technically still winter, this is the first time ever that we have had such high temperatures in March or for green day. Supposed to hit 90 today again. And even warmer the rest of the week. Such strange weather.
Happy belated birthday to George!! Please tell Kristoffer that dude shorts doesn’t cut it for me. Ha ha!
It was wonderful seeing Linda’s fabulous displays. And the two green sweaters, by Anne, are lovely. All of the girls and pups look amazing. And the special winter concert and vocalist presentation is a plus. Thank you so much Linda and Jeanne for bringing us this wonderful show.
Other than finally getting the computer and keyboard/mouse working again, I have not done anything yet today. Except, we did get in a walk. Now, I have to head out and get the yard watered. Going to be so hot in awhile. This weather is not for me at this time of year at all.
Hope it has warmed up for those in the snow zone.

  13. Li da in St. Louis

Thank you, Joy! I can’t believe we live in the same country! It has been so doggone cold here, and we never got above freezing today! Hopefully this cold weather will be on the way out tomorrow! At least the sun is out, although it is very deceiving!
Yes, your house will smell heavenly with corned beef in the crockpot! And toasted rye bread, yum!
Happy St. Pat’s to you as well!☘️

  14. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

    Good morning all
Jeanne, happy birthday to George, I hope he had a good day.
Linda, your photos were lovely, I particularly liked Josephina’s dress, very stylish, but they were all gorgeous. I really hope you get over your cold soon. I know how miserable it is.
Thank you all for the nice comments about my knitting. I plan to do some more over the winter. I have been doing English Paper Piecing for my Alice’s Wonderland quilt but my hands don’t like constant hand sewing so will leave the last 5 blocks for a while and do something different to move different fingers.
St Patrick’s Day does get a mention on TV here but at the T20 cricket match last night there were very few dressed in green. There were a few wearing green and yellow but they were the S African supporters lol.
Joy, replying to your comment yesterday about wrapping my quilt in a sheet, it is less about how to keep it clean and more about where to put it. It will probably have to go in a plastic box in the garage!
I will send a photo of the quilt to Jeanne today, Sam said last night that the fabrics, looked at separately look pretty ordinary but together they look great. I think so too, if I hadn’t asked my brother if they wanted it and he hadn’t said yes, I would have kept it for myself.
Rosemary, I agree with you, I wish I could clone myself as well. Either that or have a housekeeper to do all the cleaning and a cook to do the cooking and a gardener to do the garden, all the things that interrupt my fun time lol.
Have a happy St Patrick’s Day everyone. It is the 18th here so all over for another year.

  15. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Anne! I just love those soft green sweaters, and this was the perfect occasion for the dolls to wear them!
My cold is still with me, but there was a big improvement today. Only problem now, is that I cough when trying to talk, but at least the cold is progressing and I am not so tired anymore. Tea and honey are my best friends today!😊🤧

Can’t wait to see your quilt!
