Hi everyone,
Before I forget…again…my pink dress that was on Ebay called Pretty in Pink and shown on Natasha, didn’t sell. Boohoo, however, at 1:00am the morning after the listing ended… someone emailed me and asked if they could buy it! Yep, I sure could and they sure did! Thanks so much!
I bet you know what today’s post is going to be about… am I right?
I went to Goodwill on Friday after I worked at the Food Pantry… just to see how the men’s swim trunks were made in the front… I was struggling with getting the ones I made to work like I wanted. I took a few pictures for inspiration for when I got home…
These were the few pairs that turned out okay…
But I had made 2 pair and got the red and blue plaid pair’s waistband sewn on backwards…or rather the shorts part was backwards.
Then I made this other pair and the waist was so big Russell could stick his arm down in the side of his pants… Here are the two pair I’m talking about…
Well, I’m happy to report, I redid those shorts and look at them now…
So, I have these to show you that are all finished…
Oh, but I got MORE INSPIRED THAN THAT!!!
These…
…and these…
This was a pair of tiny swim trunks for a little boy… My hubby liked the one shark chasing another shark… and especially the two headed shark on the back of the shorts…
Then I made these… and really liked them…
Here is a better picture of the airplane on the side…
So here are my guys showing off their swim trunks or board shorts…whatever you want to call them…
That’s all… see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Congrats on the sale of the pretty pink dress/outfit! It really is lovely, and sometimes I don’t understand why something doesn’t get a bid right off. The vagaries of the retail world, I guess!
My goodness, you really went to town on those shorts! And they are looking SO good!! I’m sure Nolan is thinking he would like a pair! But he can’t decide between the plaids and the airplane one. I’ve told him he had better decide quickly, so he said he would think about it and let me know!
Jeanne, I’m so glad that the beautiful dress set sold! It was perfect for Easter and other fancy spring occasions!
Well, you sure did take a lot of pictures of boys and men’s swim trunks and shorts, and now there will be no reason to wonder how they are put together! That is great that you were able to fix the two trunks and now you have quite an array of them for the upcoming swimsuit season!
This weather is keeping me alert! It is now snowing sideways, but no accumulation is expected. We are getting 35 MPH wind and 50 mph gusts! It’s 23 degrees but feels like 8 due to the wind. Where did spring go??
I think Spring said “just kidding”
Here in SE Texas too. At least for a couple days.
Wow, Linda, so sorry for your weather. I do hope it settles down soon. I hope you don’t have to get out in it!
You got it, Jeanne, with the shorts! I really wish I had a doll to fit one, I would take the blue with the white sharks, but they are all cute! Maybe you should let the sofa ladies who have dolls that fit have the first chance!
I am so glad the pretty outfit sold, I can’t imagine that why it didn’t go over the moon from bids.
Hoping George is getting better every day. Are you still the chicken mom?
We will be heading out today to Savannah for my pain doc for a checkup. He will be telling me when I will have the next shot. I hope it is soon be cause I have a place in my back that is giving me a fit. Then back to the Computer place to help Peyton with a few more things he can’t make work. Then 2 more mornings making 3 in a row will be out the door. Sigh!
Will check Y’all out when we get back, and hoping the weather isn’t as bad a predicted.
Please be safe, both of you, out there on the roads.
This year, March is a maniacal month!
Take cover if you have any hesitation.
Happy Snappy Monday!
Congratulations on selling the adorable dress, Jeanne. It is such a perfect and cute
Spring ensemble!
Jeanne, your expedition to Goodwill was a success and wow, these shorts are
so cute, adorable and terrific. I love each pair! The boys are so adorable.
I hope this week-end was a good one for both of you, and George is improving and you are still “handling” all of it okay.
I hope everyone had a decent week-end.
I sewed all week-end, just making my own mess in my sewing rooms upstairs.
I impulsively purchased a $4 pattern for a stuffed goose on Etsy. It is cute, about 14 inches long. I am using an old white bed sheet for practice.
We are supposed to get some frightening weather this afternoon. I am going to zip out to the old house and secure the yard cans, then at this house I am gonna
put my glass tops of my porch tables on the ground, just in case.
My sister in law in Marquette is getting four MORE feet of snow and I worry for her.
Some schools are closing early in Virginia. My daughter is in Richmond (Va) and the schools are closed! Wild weather. I hope everyone has a joy filled non-dramatic day.
Love to all of you.
More bad weather for you as well. March has really come in like a lion! Let us hope the lamb come in soon!!
At Goodwill, you never know what some people are doing. I saw this lady taking pictures of men’s swim shorts the other day. Closeups too. No idea what she was doing?? 🙂 How fun to see the progression and all the work that Jeanne has put into these fun swim shorts. They are great and perfect timing for summer here. I’m thinking that some of the longer shorts may fit the larger size boy Ruby Red boy dolls. Not sure about that, but I think they might. My favorites are still the first two. The plaid and green. Sharks scare me! If Jeanne sells through her Etsy shop, hope we get first dibs. 🙂
And when I mentioned summer here, I wasn’t kidding. I was surprised to hear about the sidewise snow and blizzards in some areas. Because, here, it’s predicted to be 90 today. We knew that this week was going to be hot, but thought it would work up to it and not happen today. So, we’ll see if the weather people left to do the reports are correct or not.
With the heat, first thing this morning I’ll be out watering my potted plants and anywhere else that looks in need. I feel sorry for the plants about to bloom, like our apple tree, because they are going to be cooked. I did make progress on the weed situation over the weekend, but so much more to go. My strategy now is to grab any with seeds about to disperse and yank them leaving the rest for clean up later. Next will be to clear around the artichoke plant. Way to much more for just one to do, but I did get other person to journey out to the back area and do some pulling for an hour or so. Of course, I had to go back over the area and clear our the remains, but anything helps.
Keep warm and safe for those in the cold zones and here, I’m pulling out the shorts. 🙂
Everyone is getting so much accomplished makes me feel like a slug! Jeanne its amazing how many shorts you completed. I like the airplane ones the most. Hope hubby is healing and feeling great. How are the chickens doing? How is Jeanne doing with egg gathering and feeding and all that?
For Dorothy of Pa and the world, I’m interested in what your doll collector friend had to say about Suzette’s unknown bisque peddler doll? I’ve become more interested in doll history so always happy to learn more especially identification of oldies vs. retro’s. Have a great day all.
Dear Dorothy (great name by the way – smile), thanks for the reminder. I had this on my “to do” list but I realize I “to didn’t.”
I put the information below with my comment to Jeanne.
Happy middle of March!
Enough board shorts for several beach vacations. Each one special in the own way. I love those airplanes too! Hope you, George, and the chickens are doing well.
Glass tiles on the table! Why didn’t I think of that. My priorities were relocating every doll in the cabinet to an interior closet. The table outside that window has 6 chairs, 10 ceramic tiles, and an umbrella. What was I thinking…
Happy summer Joy. Happy crazy weather on the east coast. Be safe everyone.
A beautiful day here in SE Texas but I’m back in winter clothes at the moment. It was 46 when I went to take a shower and that was probably an hour after I got up so it was colder than that earlier. High today supposed to be 60 and windy so I won’t be walking today. Decided to do my rowing machine instead.
I laughed when I scrolled down through the pictures taken at Goodwill. You said a few pictures and I kept scrolling and there were more. But, as you can see, it’s pretty much anything goes from different kinds of tabs to eyelets, etc. You did a great job on fixing the two that weren’t quite right. They’re perfect now. I was excited to see your outfit didn’t sell at first because I was thinking I might buy it. Then I discovered someone beat me to it. Congratulations to them for being so on top of things. It is a lovely outfit.
Stay safe everyone. Sounds like nearly everyone has some crazy weather to deal with at both ends of the spectrum. Pretty much in the middle here so I’m good to go.
Those shorts, especially the fabric choices are spot on!! Where on earth did you find all those perfectly scaled and content prints?
Jeanne, you did a good job on those shorts. Looking at your photos at Goodwill, it seems anything goes so long as they fit and don’t fall down in the water! I love all of yours anyway. They are so cute.
Well we are very much in autumn now. It is quite cold in the mornings but we expect a sunny day and 22C I think it said. That’s what we got yesterday.
It is coffee morning today and I am taking my quilt to show my friends. I haven’t photographed it yet, will do that this afternoon. I washed it yesterday and by the time it was off the line it was too late for a photo. (I don’t have a dryer but it wouldn’t have fitted in one anyway.) I’ll do it this afternoon. It had to be washed, every time I worked on it I had dirty hands! I have no idea how I am going to store it till i can get it to my brother. I would like to go back to UK for another trip but I will have to fund this one myself and that isn’t on the cards at the moment.
Have as lovely day everyone, stay warm (or cool if you are Joy)
As to storing the quilt, don’t they recommend a white sheet around it? I saved some old ones from our cabin and do plan to make some quilt bags for my oldest quilts. Those from a great grandmother and my grandmothers too. Another project that isn’t going on yet. 🙂 Maybe you can start a go fund me page for money to mail the quilt to your brother? I’d donate. Has he responded that he wants the quilt? I hope he loves it. 🙂
Dear Jeanne, hello. You are going to have quite a few mothers of young men scrambling to purse these new shorts so their fellows can look nice on the beach.
I meant to email you what my doll club friend said about the peddler doll Suemae posted. I will just put it here so Dorothy L and the other Sofa Sisters can see it.
“This looks like a reproduction doll to me. I didn’t see markings on the back of the head. Inside the wig is most likely who made the wig. I would say this is not old and I’m not sure how well it is made. IF the miniatures are good in the basket, it might be $150.”
My friend mentioned that she would need additional photos to be able to see the detail. She was just basing her comment this on what could see right now.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing this Dorothy. Very interesting as I’m clueless on older dolls.
