An Unknown doll and pictures of the Estate Sale

Happy Saturday everyone…
I received an email from Suemae with some pictures of the way she has things set up for the Estate Sale selling Susette’s treasures and she asked me I would share it with everyone who reads the blog! That’s YOU!

It is going on today and tomorrow and probably more later…

Remember that HUGE moose statue Susette shared with us on the blog? (I included the comments for Suemae to see what Susette was saying about the moose.)

Well, look who Suemae and her husband found in the garage!!! Suemae said she really hopes he sells!!!

sells!!

She also sent me a few pictures of a doll she was wondering about. There isn’t much to go on… she said it is a porcelain doll with plastic hands and feet. (may be vinyl) She has a cloth body. She said there is a wire or rubber band that connects her head to her body. … no markings that she can find. The wig says Sadi On, Made in NY on it. She said the doll looks very old and it may have been a doll from her mother.

Maybe someone knows who she is or an idea of her value. I looked her up on Google Lens and saw some Peddler dolls from Ruby Lane that were selling for $2600+… so I told her to hold off on putting her in the sale for now.

Suemae also told me she is going to be going through Susette’s American Girl dolls next week if she can…

Well, Happy Saturday everyone! Have a great weekend.
Blessings, Jeanne

What a fun and unexpected (Saturday) post!! So much to look at!

In the 5th picture, at the bottom, I see Kirsten’s trunk filled with her accessories. What a find! If I already didn’t have it, I would be sorely tempted!!

And I would love to dig thru all those boxed Am. Girl accessories, and see what was there, just in case I might “need” something! 😂

Such fun to see that moose again. Yes, I remember when you posted that picture! I’m glad Suemae found it; I can just imagine someone snatching it up, as it’s definitely a special item!

That doll is what I would call a peddler doll, which were quite popular many years ago. As to her maker, that I do not know, but who knows? Maybe someone here is familiar with the company that made her!

I was so surprised to see a Saturday post, Jeanne! Wow, where DID she put all this stuff? I know about some of it, but I see things I never knew that she had! I also see some doll things sprinkled in with other things, like Molly’s blue bike, and Cecile’s desk. Oh my goodness, Kirsten’s trunk just filled with all of her treasures! I would have loved to look in there and see what she has that I am still looking for! Those things go for crazy high prices on EBay!

All the plants and containers! And the moose! I don’t think you would find a lot of this in other estate sales! It almost looks like a regular resale shop!

As far as the doll goes, no, I have no idea anything about her. Suemae has done a wonderful job of gathering and displaying all of this, and I wish her the best of luck in selling as much as she can.

Laura, I did mention to her that I wouldn’t mind seeing what is left after the sale. As much as I would love to buy some of her things, I would prefer her to sell them without having to ship things, to make it easier for her
. We will see what is left after this weekend.

I totally missed Molly’s bike the first time thru the pictures! Wow!! That would be great to have!

Suemae has done a wonderful job of organizing and displaying Susette’s beautiful things. I hope lots of them find good homes. Someone who wanted to start a resale business could bid on it all and have all the necessary stock.

Oh, my this is amazing! I hope there will be lots of buyers for all these lovely things. There are quite a few dolls, maybe some of you will decide to buy one?
Thank you for sharing this, Jeanne and Suemae. I will be looking at it more than once!

I know there are more dolls, Sweetie, I was just saying about the ones she had out in the sale. I heard that she will be sending AG dolls, I wonder if y’all can ask to buy any thing she has? I am extremely down sizing but have had a good time with them for many years and still have a few to keep for awhile and still more to sell.

        1. Linda in St. Louis

Sissy, yes, I would think that she will be selling her American Girl dolls, but does not have them out yet. I think Jeanne mentioned that. I don’t see why she wouldn’t sell them to anyone who would want to buy them.

  5. Yay! … okay, at first I thought today was really Friday.. but I am awake now
    Happy Saturday.
Oh Susette, I love seeing her treasures. This must be difficult for Suemae. It would be very hard for me. Much too hard.
The moose is very nice. All of the doll accessories are exciting. It is a good thing I live so far away. I see many things… Oh myyyy. I pray for Suemae’s strength and comfort as she goes through this massive event. I am sure there will be many lookers.

Yikes! Can anyone tell Suemae that Kirsten’s trunk sells for over $400 on eBay.

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Debbie, I think that Sjemae knows about how much things go for, or are listed for, but she does want these things gone! How I wish I lived close by!! I just hope that those things go to people who will treasure them.

      1. Debbie in North Carolina

I imagine she is feeling somewhat overwhelmed and happy to finally have the sale. Best wishes to Suzette’s family on sale day.

        1. Hi Debbie,
I did email Suemae and tell her what you said about Kirsten’s trunk selling higher on Ebay…she sent me a text back and thanked me…
I hope she raised the price…
          Blessings, Jeanne

If I could only reach out and touch some of these fabulous items. Suemae has done an amazing job of marking and display. After checking out Kirsten’s trunk, and picking up the Mr. Moose, I’d be standing in the patio area checking out the plant displays and accessories. There are so many lovely things.
Please thank Suemae for sharing even though we can’t actually participate in the sale. Must be a happy day after all of the work and organizing, but sad as well. Remembering Suzette today.
    Thanks Jeanne for sharing.

  8. Wow, so many, many things. Susette had quite the doll collection with RRFF the ones we see today, and still PC/AG and maybe more to go.
I would love to see what all she has in Kirsten’s trunk as well as the tote filled with AG. I can’t be positive, but it looks like that is PC’s doll travel basket behind Kirsten’s trunk. I can’t imagine where Susette put all of this. I see four Eiffel Towers. I would certainly be checking out the plant pots and those fairy houses. Please thank Suemae for letting us see them.

What was the name of the artist that makes those little ceramic houses that Susette had? I couldn’t find the post where you mentioned them.

  9. My power just came on after being out for over 18hrs so I’m late to the party but . . I don’t know much about the unknown doll except that a bisque dome head doll with the two holes on top definitely signals a possible valuable antique doll. Especially considering Suzette’s interests and knowledge. A minimum bid sounds reasonable.

    1. The head of the bisque doll is also known as a belton dome and if the mouth is closed it is more valuable. Could be made in 1800’s and made in NY can be deceiving as doll makers imported heads etc. from European firms like Kestner, Halbig and others. Size is important too.

Dear Jeanne, Suemae had done a wonderful job of honoring her mother’s possessions and displaying them in an orderly manner. I hope her sale goes very well.

I am going to ask a doll club friend, who collects peddler dolls, to take a look at the doll in the photo.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I heard back from my doll club friend. I will send you an email with her comments about the doll. Happy middle of March!
