So what is Felicity’s last piece for her newest outfit???

Let me just start showing you pictures to see if you can guess…

I found these fun pieces of fabric down at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a few years ago. There’s a place called RM COCO and they sell fabrics by the pound and have lots of remnant bins and bolts of all kinds of upholstery, drapery, lining, lace and much more! I didn’t know what I’d eventually use these “sample” pieces for, but I held onto them. I love their “nubbiness!”

One of the pieces is slightly lighter than the other…

It had been a while since I used my embroidery machine, but I searched for a design card and came up with these 2 choices, hoping I could find what I was “looking” for…

I wanted to use design #4… but it wouldn’t reduce small enough…

So I looked at design #35… and tried this… If you guessed Felicity’s last piece would be a reticule, you were right…

…but I didn’t get the right color threads on this one… it was too yellow, not gold enough…

So I tried #26 on this card…

BINGO! I just changed my threads to gold and rusts… and made this reticule… That piece of fabric the reticule is laying on is my ONLY scrap left… it’s about five by seven inches…

I added a draw string and now Felicity can hold it on her wrist.

Joy was hoping for a picture of her holding up her dress a bit so her slip could be seen… This one’s for you Joy! :o)

She likes it very much and kept telling me how pretty it was…

I think it was the perfect accessory for a young Colonial girl…

Well, unless you like chocolate… then you might think THIS is the perfect “accessory” to this set!

…and one more, because I couldn’t decide which picture I liked best…

I have to work at the Food Pantry tomorrow, but I’m hoping the weather is nice and I can take some pictures in the morning, and then I’ll see what I can do about getting this dress listed! YAY!!!

See you Monday!
Blessings, Jeanne

That embroidery design is so nicely scaled, and the colors are perfect to go with that gown! I love Felicity’s reticule.

Linda asked why my email address was showing, and I hadn’t even noticed last night when I posted (that’s what I get for staying up until 3 a.m.), so thanks for noticing, Linda. I went to WordPress and fixed it, and it will just display my name now. I guess when I added the picture, I didn’t scroll down far enough to where it says “public display name”, so it defaulted to my email address. I don’t know if Jeanne can change it on that one post or not, but from now on, it’s just my name.

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I really need to use my machine more… It does lots of things I forget about…
I also went back and removed your email address on yesterday’s comments, so you are just Charlotte Trayer from now on! :o)

I think you should make the “too gold” embroidery into a reticule too. Could it inspire a Regency or Victorian outfit? It’s far too pretty to waste.

Felicity’s new purse seems to tie her cape into the rest of the outfit, making everything blend together even better than it did. And the person who suggested the picture showing the petticoat was right, wasn’t she? That’s a beautiful slip. It’s a wonderful outfit altogether.

Next? No rest for you. Christmas is coming.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Christmas is coming WAY too fast to suit me! WAY too fast!
I’m not crazy about the yellow and brown flowers on the first embroidery I tried for the reticule, but I’ll keep it and see if something matched it.
Yes, who is next? I need to figure that out SOON!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Linda in St. Louis

I’m glad that is fixed, Charlotte! I was sure you didn’t want to advertise your email address to the whole world! 😊

Perfect reticule, Jeanne! I have never heard of an embroidery machine, and that was interesting to see what it can do. Seamstresses have so many “helps” now, but you still have to know what works best, and have that perfect “touch”, like you have!

I love the colors you chose, and now, you have almost two reticules! What happens to the other one with the gold flowers? Making another outfit, or are you sending it along with this one? Maybe even sell it in your Etsy shop?

    1. HI Linda,
Yes, embroidery machines are pretty fancy nowadays… Mine is probably considered ancient, but it still does the job and there’s plenty that it can do!
I told Marilyn I will just keep the first embroidered flower, in case something matches it down the road… It’s a bit blah to me…
I just managed to get Felicity’s dress set listed on Ebay! Yay Me!
      Thanks Linda,

  4. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Jeanne, I have been working hard on a couple of Thanksgiving outfits for my Meadow dolls, but I have watched your fun blogs on this outfit. I do love all the colors and pieces. If I had an American girl doll I would REALLY want this one, just perfection! I hope it goes sky high for you.
I will send you my photos when I have time to take them.

    1. Thank you Sissy! I need to be working hard on some Christmas dresses… There is still time, if something doesn’t get too much in my way… but things always come up…
I just listed Felicity’s dress on Ebay… let’s hope you are right!
I’ll be watching for your pictures.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Susette from Southern California

You never know where a Jeanne Marie ensemble is going to end up when it’s started. Well, this one is surely a tour de force! The colors, the choice of fabric, all the little details are perfect! Thanks for taking us along on this lesson in how a beautiful creation comes together.

How clever of you, Charlotte, for figuring out how to use the squares. Nice to see your smiling face on your square.

    1. Susette from Southern California.

I forgot to add that this looks like a cover ensemble for the book you’re going to publish someday with American Girl stories in it.

    2. Hi Susette,
Thanks so much for your kind comments about Felicity’s dress. I too, never know where the dresses I start will take me. This one was a long time getting finished, but I hope it was worth the wait for someone…
In person, it is just fabulous! My outside pictures I took today were nice, but they still can’t capture what the dress looks like when you are 2 feet in front of it.
I did just get it listed on Ebay… :o)
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Joy in northern CA

So cute. Love the flower embroidery on the reticule. Just perfect. And thanks for the peek of the petticoat pic. Felicity is so daring. 🙂
Good luck on your sale. It’s a winner.

    1. Thank you Joy,
If Felicity was bendable, I could make that “showing of the slip” much more daring… but she’s not, so she just has to hold the fabric up and that’s about it!
I just managed to get it listed on Ebay a few minutes ago.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Jeanne, I am constantly amazed by your creativity and expertly made creations. Thank you for sharing your incredible journeys!

    1. Thank you Lisa!
I’m so glad you chimed in and thank you for your kind words about Felicity’s dress and my sewing! I do try hard and I hope it shows!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. You have an embroidery machine? Wow! I’ve been here since nearly the beginning and don’t recall you ever using it. I always liked to watch the embroidery machines at work when we went into JoAnn’s. Felicity’s reticule is perfectly matched to her dress. She looks very stylish.
I saw Marilyn mention a Regency dress. Yes, we haven’t seen once of those in a long while nor a Victorian/Edwardian one and Christmas is coming and both of those styles are perfect for the season. I know you use Elizabeth for Regency, but I don’t know if you even have Samantha anymore.

    1. HI Laura,
Yes, I have an embroidery machine, but I was trying to think of the last thing I used it for with my dolls. I know I embroidered a cowboy boot on a denim skirt for Saige, and I did some decorative stitching around the skirt of a dress for Lian… but that’s all I can remember. I should use it more… it does a great job on certain things and I have quite a few cards…
I just got Felicity’s dress set listed on Ebay… You may notice something you said in your comments yesterday or the day before. I used your story line and Dorothy’s title…
So you’d like to see a Regency dress, huh? And I DO still have Samantha! She’s such a pretty doll… I need to get a dress made for her too! So many dolls, so little time! :o(
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Your followers certainly love this ensemble and rightfully so! It has your touches in every piece. I would be playing with that embroidery machine all the time

    1. Thanks Kathie,
I appreciate your kind words so much… I just listed it on Ebay a few minutes ago… Yes, I should play with my embroidery machine more often… I used to!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, the outfit looks so sweet. She looks like she is going somewhere, maybe taking a walk with friends. Hmmm. The title “Colonial Stroll” comes to mind.

Happy Weekend and Veterans Day to you and the Sofa Sisters.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Well, Well, Well, Thank you miss Dorothy for that title… Colonial Stroll! I used it when I listed Felicity’s dress tonight. I used Laura’s story line and your title. It was perfect!
      Have a wonderful weekend yourself!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. I had to smile when I saw your embroidery design cards. I have the #21 card, but not the Studio Bernina card. I thought I was the only person left in the world that had a lovely vintage embroidery machine. I guess I’m not. The reticule completes another well-designed and coordinated outfit and I enjoyed watching the progress, as usual. Thanks for a bonus trip down embroidery machine lane.

    1. HI Mary Sue,
I was looking at some machines on Facebook Marketplace and I saw mine on there for $249 I think! I about fell over… I had no idea it was so outdated, but it still works and I’m sure it will be the only embroidery machine I’ll ever have. I got it for a great price as a demo model after a quilt show, but still paid more than 10 times the amount of that one on Marketplace. Yikes!
I’m glad you enjoyed the journey with Felicity’s dress!
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne
