How about another piece for Ruby Red Fashion Friend doll, Violette?

Several ladies mentioned earlier when I started making this set for Violette, a pair of shorts might be nice, but Ingrid mentioned a pair of white shorts a couple nights ago and my mind wouldn’t stop thinking about them…
…what kind of style?
…cuffed?
…big pockets?
…front or back opening?
…what kind of fabric?

So I began playing around with a pattern first… I decided to leave off any pockets this first time… and just have mock pockets.

I had a white linen fabric and thought that might work nicely.

I decided to have them flare out just a little bit along the outside seam and close in the back with a single snap.

So this is what happened… the pattern ended up being a “pretty low rise” pair of shorts… (I’ve already modified my pattern to be a bit higher…) although I do think these look pretty cute on Violette.

The linen was a bit too ravely for my first time making them… everything is serged or zigzaged on the inside, but not quite as neat as the next pair will be.

Violette likes them… especially on hot, 100 degrees days!!!

She looks nice and cool, doesn’t she?

Well, Ingrid, was that what you were thinking of?

See everyone tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, I had written a comment, and my wifi pooped out at the wrong moment, and it’s gone. If it does show up, it will probably be garbled, so just ignore it, okay? (Or Jeanne, maybe you can just remove it….)

So, first of all, the shorts are just darling on Violette; the low rise is nice with the cropped top and allows some of her cute tummy to show!

Dorothy of PA….thanks for reminding me of the UFDC convention out our way in a few weeks! I’m hoping to get over there the day the sales floor is open to the public, whenever that might be. Not that I need more dolls, you understand–Russell is just settling in, and now they’re releasing a couple of new dolls, Diana, who is so pretty and limited to 400, I think, and Jada, their new core line doll–but it’s always fun to look, and I might run into someone I know!

Joy, I’m glad your A/C challenge is about done. It’s so good that you could get your armoire anchored more securely–as long as the thing had to be moved, you might as well do both jobs! I’m glad to hear nothing was broken, just shifted.

Ron actually came to IHOP with me tonight–yay!! He hasn’t felt up to going with me for about a month. Our friends were happy to see him again. He really has slowed down so much–it takes him quite a while to walk a short distance any more.

Dear Charlotte, yeaaa! I hope you can get to the convention. Look for the PA folks if you do.

Charlotte… I hope you can hope you can go to the convention! That sales room is awesome…dolls…old, new and in between, accessories, fabric, anything doll related😉

Those shorts are really cute, Jeanne! At first I thought they would look too much like panties, but after seeing the overall picture, they do look like shorts! I love the lowered waistline and the flair of the shorts, without showing too much skin. That last picture of her is just darling! She looks cool as a cucumber and so relaxed! Perfect for these hot and humid summer days!

Love the third from the last photo that is a little dark. Violette’s in motion pose is adorable. Hope I can remember to try that and the crossed ankles in the last pic with my girls some time. Cute shorts. Although, I hope that they aren’t see through as in being able to see her panties just wouldn’t work around here. 🙂 The outfit is overall adorable and so perfect for the big heatwave.
Well, I had some free time yesterday to do watering etc. Other person had the platform figured out which we attached to the window as directed by the very poor directions. Then, we actually put the unit on it and discovered that the frame sticks outside behind it way too much. Like the company should have sized the bracket to the unit. Took the AC back out. Tried to readjust the supports. Didn’t make any difference. Put it back the way it was. And so we continued fiddling around until the sun was beating down so hot that we had to quit. Watched a lot of how to install videos. Had to do a few things and then back at it when the shade returned. Other person finally found a how to that actually showed the unit on the bracket. And, the bracket stuck out just like ours. He called the company yet again and of course because of the time difference they were closed. So this morning, he is calling again to see if they have a different sized bracket. But, overall, we are pretty much ready to put it back on the bracket and add the foam sealant etc. I think we may have some cool air just in time for the expected 100 degrees that many across the country have already been experiencing.
    Keep cool everyone.

Joy, my dolls go commando when wearing anything that shows through, and even when they don’t, since it is hard to fit them in some of those tighter slacks. But don’t tell!😊

        That’s funny Linda! But don’t worry 😉 I won’t tell anyone either!

Well, I’m here early with a store run this morning. The smoke is really bad here and will continue through Sunday. Not a normal fun summer so far. I worry about the kitties and other wildlife outside. 🙁
Violette’s shorts are really cute. I had similar white linen shorts as a teen/ 20’s except mine were cuffed as was the style. Love Violette’s little poses. That’s one really fun thing about the RRFFs, but the speed at which they release new ones is pretty unbelievable. Luckily, I’ve not missed the ones I had to have. I would have loved Valentina also (adorable outfit and it’s blue), but that was waaaaay before I knew of them.

So, how do you feel about the Diana RRFF girl? She is a different mold, but I’m told also by Effner.

      1. Laura in Ohio

Hi Joy, I liked Princess Diana, but tbh, the doll just does nothing for me. Her face looks older, as it would, and much more serious. I also think she’d have to almost dress in Diana’s certain style. I really don’t know. I guess just like PC/AG I sometimes really like the doll when she belongs to someone else, but she’s an easy pass for me and some are just easy passes in general. I have the PC/AGs I wanted, and I don’t regret any RRFF I’ve passed on or missed and even Valentina I can live without. 🙂

Dear Jeanne, Violette looks adorable in that outfit. The Mama and the sweet doll who win the ensemble are surely going to be very pleased.

I love the new white shorts. The low-rise looks great with the crop top. I need to get more practice with these articulated dolls. I think I have them in a good pose but when I see my pictures I always find an awkward pose I missed that makes them either look like they’re falling over or doing strange things with their arms. You poses always look great.

  7. Kathie from Omaha

Oh yes….the white shorts are just the perfect look, the wide leg and lower waist really work. Posing her is another talent you have☺️

    Hi Jeanne,
I say PERFECTION! Those white shorts are the cutest and yes exactly what I was thinking. The flip flops are soooo adorable! Love love love it!
