Knee socks and a hairband… the 2 final pieces for Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Violette!

I have finally reached the end of making items for Violette’s October outfit! By my count, I think there are 10 pieces included with this set, PLUS that wonderful Sweet Treat! :o) This set will include the Blouse, skirt (with detachable straps), slip, pants, hairband, tie, belt, purse, shoes, knee socks and sweet treat!

I made her knee socks like the ones I made for Violette in “School Girl Charm!” They just slide up her legs… and then you can slip on her leather shoes. The shoes do look nice with the pants, and probably go best with them, however if I had made a pair of Mary Janes to go with the skirt, they might have not gone so much with the pants… So, it is what it is!

For her “hair accessory” I decided to just make a hairband with a knot tied in it. It fastens at the back of her neck with a magnetic clasp. I added a small section of elastic cording to the ends so it will fit the dolls with regular hair, like Stella, or with fluffy hair like Violette has. It works for both dolls now. Just place it on top of your dolls head, wiggle it around your dolls hair if it’s “fluffy”, wrap it behind her neck, meet the two magnetic ends and when they find each other, it hooks by itself. Easy peasy!

Here are a few pictures of the outfit with the shoes and socks…

Remember my newfangled way of making the straps totally separate…. well, this seamstress thought it was a great idea and made less bulk around the waist of the skirt, but walk through this with me… you put her slip on, then the blouse, then you slip the strap piece over her head and try to snap the straps ends between her legs… duh… it won’t work because the slip is in the way, so I’ll have to redo the straps and sew the snaps to the skirt waistband and the ends of the straps. Just a minor setback, but nothing major…

My hope is to get this listed Saturday evening… I’m hoping it goes the way I plan, as “my life” has been slightly busy lately…

See you Monday!
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, I love the knee socks with the shoes, and I think they look good with the skirt as well as the pants! The headband is a nice touch, and really sets off the other pieces in the set.

You know, I never thought about the straps that way with the slip!! Yikes!! But you’re right–if the straps are going to go Under the slip and Over the blouse…something’s got to give!! I’m glad you’re doing the more conventional straps on the skirt. At least the straps are already made; it’s just a tiny wrinkle in the process.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for your kind compliments on Violettes set…
It wasn’t until I started dressing her for pictures that I realized the straps were going to have to be changed.
The listing is supposed to go on Ebay this evening.
I had some trouble with the listing time so I’m hoping it works.
Have a great rest of your weekend, Charlotte.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Where’s the belt? Don’t forget a picture of it. What would happen if you added a vest to the blouse, tie, and pants?
I hadn’t thought of the slip and straps — you’re way ahead of me.
I still think that’s one of your very best skirts. Someone is going to love this outfit.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I didn’t forget the belt, but after I saw it in my listing, (which is scheduled gir tonight) I saw it was theblicture of the belt before I trimmed down the one side. Oops! Maybe no one will notice…
The more I look at this skirt on Violette, I think you might be right… this just might be my best pleated skirt ever. It has the perfect flare!
      Thank you Marilyn

  3. Linda in St. Louis

This will be short, and I am late, but I love those knee high socks and the headband, which will go on any kind of hairdo! Well, not the socks!! But this whole little wardrobe is perfect for hours of fun trying on this and that! No better way to spend time!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I’m glad this one is finished, but I sure had fun making all the pieces for it!
      Glad you like it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Well, Saturday is here, and Violette is ready for her fall excursion to view Fleet Week. So many fun events around the S.F. bay today. Her hair tie will keep her hair tamed while she is tilting her head skyward to watch the Blue Angels fly over the Golden Gate. 🙂
Glad that you will be changing the skirt suspenders to straps. I think Violette will like the change as well. This is a fun versatile outfit for the fall weather.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
All of the pieces are finished now and its set to go on Ebay this evening. I tried to “schedule” it earlier, but couldn’t find the place on listing it to pick a different time other than listing it when you are typing it all out. I didn’t want it to go on at 5:00 so I’m waiting till 8:00 to go list it again… hope it goes smoothly.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, wow, there are so many pieces in this beautiful ensemble! If you add one more, you will need to find a wardrobe trunk and send that along for the winning dolly (laugh).

    1. Hi Dorothy,
I had to stop making things for Violette’s set, but I could have added a few more things… and a trunk would have been a fun item! :o)
      I’m glad you like it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. This will have to brief as well. I’ve been out working in the yard all morning and haven’t had lunch yet. Cute wardrobe. I like the skirt set best. Actually, except for a pair of AG capris and some 1980’s style jeans I had made for my sometimes 80s girl, my dolls always wear dresses or skirts so that’s what I like best on them. Plus for all of my other eras pants weren’t appropriate anyway.

    1. Hi Laura,
I like the skirt set best too… I love the pleats on this one.
Most all the outfits I’ve made have been dresses…
I’m just more of a dress girl.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne
