“Two” Ruby Red Fashion Friends have finished Christmas dresses…

Stella is sulking again… her dress didn’t get finished and she’s NOT happy… again! I did tell her I’d try my best and get her dress completed tomorrow, but she wasn’t having any of it… she wanted to be in tonight’s photo shoot with Rozen and Sara…

But that didn’t happen. I sewed until 12:20 and told her I “had” to quit… I hope she understands… :o)

Well, since I DO have two of the three dresses finished, I want to show them to you…

First up is Rozen… she picked out some black lace up boots to wear with her dress…

Isn’t she just the sweetest young lady? I just love her!

Sara looks a little washed out in the pictures that are farther away from her… I think I need to take her pictures in the daylight when her eyes sparkle more…

…and a few of them together…

Well, that was it for me today… snaps and hems and pictures…
What did you get done today?

See you Monday,
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, gosh, what did I get done today?! Well, if you read my post from yesterday’s post, you know about my taking Ron to the ER at 4 this morning, and how that affected my day!! LOL I made a pot of Skinny Minnie Tortilla Soup, so we are set for a couple more days, anyway, meal-wise. And I did get a nap in after supper tonight, which helped quite a bit. But my head is buzzing now, so I know I need to get to sleep pretty soon!!

On to the dresses…..Well, poor Stella!! Next time you make three RRFF dresses, you will need to finish hers first!! Maybe if you promise her that, she won’t sulk Too much!!!

Both of these outfits turned out beautifully! I just realized, in looking at the pictures, that the lace on the sleeves is different for each of them. I don’t think I noticed that before. I believe I have some of that tiny tatted lace like you used on Sara’s dress. I don’t think I have any of the kind on Rozen’s, but you never know–I have quite a bit of lace on hand!!

No sewing for me today. Hopefully tomorrow.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Hope you can catch up on sleep. Nothing like the ER to wipe you out. And hope Ron is better soon. And glad you were able to switch out your box and get the tv going. Good job. 🙂

    2. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Charlotte, do try to get rest. We want you to be alright. We hope your husband is doing better now.

    3. Sally from Colorado

      Hi, Charlotte,
I am very sorry to hear about the ER visit and pray that all is settling down, Ron doing lots better and you catching up on sleep.
      Sending a hug,
      Sally

    4. HI Charlotte,
I hope Ron is better today and I was hoping maybe you might share your Skinny Minnie Tortilla soup recipe… that sounds interesting…
I thought maybe if I sweet talked her into letting me make her a pair of gold shoes, would that help, but she didn’t answer… :o(

I was working on sorting out my ribbons and trims today…what a mess… but I got lots done…
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Claudia from Long Island

The dresses turned out beautifully, Jeanne!! The slips give them just the right amount of “pouf”.

I think the ribbon on Sara’s dress needs to be a little wider, though. It will bring out the color of the berries a little more and really make them pop! Her dress is my favorite!

I can’t wait to see Stella’s dress all finished. I’m sure she will forgive you, if you put her front and center, when you take the group photo!!!

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Hi Claudia, I looked for another piece of ribbon and only had a rayon ribbon in that color… I may look tomorrow and see if I see something in a more burgundy color… I’m not opposed to changing it to a bigger ribbon…

Stella’s dress is all finished now too… so she’s laying on the table between Rozen and Sara… All seems okay for now, but you never know… :o)
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Joy in northern CA

I’ll let Luca know that Stella is in a slump. I’m sure he can help to cheer her up. 🙂 I think I would like to see Roz with black patent shoes as the boots don’t seem to show up at all. Will there be thigh highs or tights? 🙂
Hope you are able to meet up with the Etsy expert. I would take along the list of Etsy phone numbers that you have tried and the results as well as the email addresses and help groups on Etsy contacted so he won’t be repeating all that you have already tried. I never did hear if you had changed your Etsy password? That would be the regular password we all have, not the one for your unreachable shop. I have a feeling, you may have to have Etsy close your current shop and then reopen a new one. I still can’t get over the nonresponse from Etsy. Awful.
It was delightful to have the heat come on this morning. 🙂 Just warms up the house enough before it turns off at 9:00. And we may be turning it off again as it is supposed to warm up again the next few days.
Working of a few Halloween dresses around here. Kind of fun with the vintage look fabric I’m using. Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
I put Rozen in the boots because I don’t have any black shoes that size… I do have some for Nyssa, but they are way big in the back… I guess if only took frontal pictures, the too big shoes might not be that noticeable…

You’ll never guess, but someone else just bought a slip for Noel…and I can’t find out who it is this time because there is no “complaint” in the messages… I am SO SO frustrated…

I did change my password and I do have all the info for tomorrow… I don’t want to reopen a new Etsy shop because I’ll lose my name… it will be taken (BY ME!)))

I tried calling a number I found and it just tells you to use the online services! UGH!

We have heat here too… in the form of HOT weather… I was sweating today as I was working in my sewing room…

Hope you had fun working on your dresses…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Joy in northern CA

This Etsy mess keeps getting worse and worse. Glad you changed your password. So who becomes responsible for illegal sales? Does Paypal come after you? Have you contacted their fraud department to explain the situation? I would document all you have done in case it gets ugly which hopefully it will not. Hope you have good luck with your Etsy expert friend. Thinking of you.

  4. Kathie from Omaha

The finishing touches always make your dresses a standout. Are you going to have a pic in each auction of all of them in case the buyer has more than one FF? Of course I guess each doll could have more than one dress too ☺️ I’m glad we don’t have to pick a favorite…I really couldn’t decide.
Sounds like the rest of the floor is going to happen. It will be nice to have all the floors the same. My friend has gone from carpet everywhere to carpet only in the living room, bedroom. She was always neat as a pin but carpet in the kitchen is a nightmare
    Enjoy your Saturday!

    1. HI Kathie,
I thought I’d show all the girls in a few pictures and then feature the one for that particular auction for each girl. I hope they sell this early before Christmas… I have seen a few on Ebay…

The floor IS going to happen… we were hoping before the 22nd when our new mattress and box spring is coming…but I’m wondering if we are going to make it..

We used to have carpeting in the kitchen in this house when we bought it… I think we pulled it up before the first week was over…

      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. So sorry to hear about your time in the ER, Charlotte. I pray Ron is doing better

Yay, for you Anne, to be getting RRFF Sara. I think almost everyone on here will have one then.

Tell Stella not to sulk because she can have some of the limelight all to herself on Monday.
Joy’s Luca will be watching I’m sure.

    1. HI Laura,
I still can’t believe YOU have a RRFF doll. I’m glad you gave in and got one…aren’t they just the sweetest dolls?
Stella can’t be too mad at me… I did get her dress finished today…and she’s laying between Sara and Rozen… :o)
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Anne Coldron in New Zealand

The girls look lovely in their dresses so sorry that poor Stella missed out today but her day will come.

The demo went quite well, The technique is a really good one for people who are good at painting which I’m not. If you do look up the YouTube videos you need Butter cream, Palette knife and painting in the search line. There are lots of different people doing it now and some are tutorials and some are showing them doing it if you know what I mean. We didn’t have many members at the meeting this time, in fact we are getting smaller all the time and we are thinking of amalgamating with one of the other groups in Christchurch which might work out well. We will discuss it at our AGM next month.

I haven’t ordered Sara yet but might today or tomorrow. I must say I love Rozen as well, I might have considered her if she had been on the site but Sam and I both liked Sara best of the one’s on offer (sorry Stella!)

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hi, Anne,
I’m delighted to hear about spring being in your world now and fascinated with the cake decorating.
We are all excited for your indulging in Sara! We can’t wait for you to get her and tell us all about opening her.
Happy spring and happy new doll!
      Sally

    2. HI Anne,
Yes, Stella’s time will come… her dress is finished and she’s a little bit happier…

I’m glad you cake icing demo went well… did someone video it while you did it? maybe we could see exactly what YOU did! :o)

Sara is a real cutie and I think you’ll be very pleased with her. She was my first and I thought she’d be my one and only and look at me… now I have 3… I do love Rozen…she is VERY pretty… one of the prettiest dolls I have ever owned…

      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Barbara in SE Texas

Maybe Stella just needs an extra hug. Or as someone suggested front and center in a group photo. Rozen and Sara look lovely in their sweet new outfits. Those slips do make a difference.

I can relate to Charlotte’s need for sleep after a night in the ER. I remember shortly after David’s heart surgery when he woke me around 4 a.m. to tell me he couldn’t sleep and his blood pressure was through the roof. Fortunately there was no one else in the ER waiting room and they took him right away. But I couldn’t stay and because it was the middle of the night I didn’t want to bother Sean and family who lived fairly close, so I drove home. No way I could sleep when I got there because I was so worried about him. The ER could not update me and David needed his phone so i drove back to get that to him. As I was leaving the hospital I got a call from him that he was being released. I turned around and went back for him and took him home. Then I could sleep. I’ll be praying for Ron and Charlotte for peaceful nights in the future.

What did I do today? Not much so far but I’m heading in to sew once I’m done here. I spent the morning keeping track of the AG Baby Grand piano auction on eBay. I really wanted that piano so I set an auto bid that was more than I hoped to pay. In the final three minutes someone did a huge bid but my auto was still higher so the girls will be receiving their new piano in about a week. I told them not to ask for anything else for Christmas. I think the same goes for me.

    1. Joy in northern CA

A big congrats on that piano! I’m sure your kids will love it. I looked at it too. Didn’t bid though. 🙂

    2. Sally from Colorado

Barbara, good for you! Sounds like at least three of us were watching that auction, but I knew I was going to be out of internet service for most of the day so decided to wait. Actually, I looked up the measurements last night and have pretty much concluded it is too big. The girls and I are looking at harps, flutes, cellos and violins. Anyway, I think you and your girls got a beauty and I am very, very happy for you. Hurrah! And merry Christmas!

    3. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, congratulations on winning! That is always sweet.

Well I guess there will be sonatas at your house sometime soon. Do let us know when. I am sure we would love to attend the first recital (smile).

    4. Thank you Barbara,
Stella is laying between Sara and Rozen in her newly finished dress. I hope she’ll forgive me for not getting her dress done when the others were finished. I think she will.
Most times, ER visits aren’t fun… and usually they involve lots of hours!

I had to look on Ebay for the piano and think I saw the one you bought… if it was just today… it looks absolutely beautiful. You are going to love having that for a prop!

      I LOVED your last 2 lines! :o)

      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, the dresses are looking so pretty. The girls are really making them shine!

    1. Thank you Okseny,
I’m glad you like the girls dresses! Thanks for letting me know you enjoy seeing them!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Sally from Colorado

We were away most of today and for some reason, the past few days have been busy. I didn’t want to post late, but here I am. Hope everyone has had a good day. Anne is ordering a doll, Barbara won a baby grand, and I snagged a Freya and an Alexandra before heading off this morning. Very excited about both, and I won’t have to wait the long waits. I have tried to contact the shop in Spain because Marianella, which I paid for ages ago, was supposed to ship in September, then I saw October, and I wanted to know the status. The last communication was my receipt. Well, I am still wondering and waiting to hear from them. I have had very good luck communicating with the French shop in the past. BTW, today I got a notice that they will be having a new version of Victoria in January with a much prettier outfit than the original one I ordered and am expecting next month. Anyway, if you are interested, you can look up Un Bonheur Di Calibri…I think I spelled that right.

Jeanne, the dresses and slips are so pretty. Really, really love the slips. The yokes are a nice touch, and the lace beautiful. As Claudia mentioned though, the ribbon on Sarah’s dress would pop out more if it weren’t so thin. But maybe that’s just the two of us. Nice to hear that you might be on your way to concluding the new flooring throughout the house. That will be such a pleasure!

May your meeting with the fellow from church who knows Etsy bear fruit. Frankly, this has gone on for so long now that I would be SO disgusted with Etsy. Well, I still am, and I don’t even have a shop. Doubt I will after all this. Joy had some really good advice for your meeting prep work. Meanwhile, good for you, Ingrid and Elaine for helping find the woman whose order was MIA.

Some people have mentioned about their email address etc automatically popping up when submitting comments but no longer doing so. This amazed me as I have always, each time, had to type in my email and name. It would be mighty sweet to not have to do that. But in the greater scheme of things, not a biggie for sure.

Today we went to our first live stream of the Met Opera in the Springs since the opera house closed. Sure was great being able to do that. Went with friends and we had a nice picnic afterwards before the drive home. We had a lovely day. Hope you did too. Happy holiday weekend, everyone. Prayers for Ron and Jeanne.

    1. Debbie in Tennessee

Sally, I saw those two, Freya and Alexandra disappear today. I am glad you are the new lucky owner. I did get the email about Phanie and am very tempted. I am afraid to order anything else right now as we are moving mid November. when i ordered Alice from Samantha’s it was an October delivery, now it is pushed back to November! Juggling all of the “last times” and anticipating the future are filling my time and my thoughts. I hope your hubby is recovering well from eye surgery.
Sending my best thoughts to both of you.
      Debbie

      1. Sally from Colorado

        Hi, Debbie,
It is hard to order knowing your move is imminent. And I hope the packing is going well.
Thanks for thinking of my hubby. We got the good news that his pathology report says he is cleared. Huge, huge relief. Thanks so much.
That “Sweet Victoria” today was an edition of 125. The one I ordered was 106. Both sold out in a flash. I have found the French store very, very helpful. The jury is still out on the Mi Tienda Nelybel. Ugh.
Like you, I have been disappointed seeing many of these dolls that are preorder getting slower in coming out. But then, there are shortages of just about every component for every item made under the sun these days and that may well have something to do with this.
Well, dear Debbie, my thoughts are with you as you pack up. You have been super kind.
        Hugs from old Sal

        1. HI Sally,
GREAT NEWS from your hubby’s doctor! I bet you really did celebrate! Thanks for letting us know…
          Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Sally, I am on the email list for Un Bonheur Di Calibri also.

I got a doll from them a while back. Luckily their English is better than my French (smile).

I got an ASI Celia. She is made in Spain. I am probably not going to keep her now as I can’t seem to bond with her. Oh, well.

I am off on other doll quests.

      1. Sally from Colorado

Oh, Dorothy, I am so sorry to hear that you are not bonding with a new doll. That is pretty sad; however, I was heartened to hear you are on more Dolly quests! Happy hunting, dear Dorothy! 👍😁

    3. HI Sally,
Boy, you were a super sleuth today ordering two dolls before you headed out… You must have known what you wanted and nabbed them! :o)

I think I better stay away from looking at more dolls… I can’t keep up with the ones I have… Maybe I should become a collector instead of a dressmaker… hmmm…

I did find a piece of rayon ribbon that “might” work but not positive… I may look for something else tomorrow… although Hobby Lobby is closed and we have a memorial tomorrow afternoon…

I have another nightmare on my hands as someone else just bought another one of my slips from my Etsy shop… the trouble is, I have NO IDEA who it is… unless she sends me a message… so I HAVE to get this problem solved… being locked out of a open shop is no fun… It’s like I’m just a spectator of my own shop…

I hope you had a nice time at the Opera today… it sounds like you did. My day wasn’t nearly so exciting… I sorted ribbons and trims and got a drawer back in order… and of course tried to solve the Etsy thing somemore… no answer when I tried to call them…Ugh!
      Thanks Sally,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Debbie in Tennessee

Jeanne, I could not pick a favorite of those Christmas dresses. All are delightful! Today I packed more boxes for our upcoming move. We are just over 4 weeks and the days are not long enough. I am glad to see your life settling down and time for sewing.

Prayers to all that have health and rest challenges.

    1. HI Debbie,
I bet YOU are one of those who are “rest” challenged! Please pace yourself as you do all the packing. It’s a big job and can seem overwhelming…
Pretty soon you’ll be back to dolly days instead of packing days!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Marilyn in Colorado

I think Stella’s dress is the prettiest, so when it’s done, she’s going to be very happy with it.

Today my family gathered for breakfast in honor of my great niece Anna visiting Colorado. Anna “owns” Jeanne’s Willa (Wellie Wishers) doll from a couple of years ago. She looks very like Willa, with her long, curling red hair. Actually, Willa has been packed away by Anna’s grandmother until Anna is old enough to appreciate a doll dressed by IdreamofJeanneMarie. In the meantime, she now has a new plush dog that she has named Rosy. I have made it a tradition to bring Anna a playmate hidden in my book bag whenever she visits because she’s the only member of her generation — how boring to be surrounded by tall old people — but with a new toy and a lot of affection and attention, it’s not half bad.

This afternoon Anna, her grandparents, and her uncle Mike went off to the mountains to look for a famous moose and to hear the elk bugle. It may snow, which would be a first for Anna, who is a real SoCal girl.

I predict that Stella will be a very happy doll when we see her Monday.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Thanks for sharing about your great niece. I’m sure Anna will greatly enjoy Rosy. Fun. 🙂

    2. Sally from Colorado

Marilyn, what a special day you had with your great niece and family. You sound like a very special, fun great aunt. Building wonderful memories for Anna.

    3. HI Marilyn,
Wow…it doesn’t seem that long ago that Willa went to your house until Anna grew up a bit more… do you know when Anna’s grandmother will give her the doll?
How sweet of you to bring Anna something when you see her… I bet she loves coming to see you! :o)

I hope Anna got to see snow today… that will be something she’ll never forget!

Stella is already a little happier… I finished her dress and she’s laying between Sara and Rozen on the table… I hope she’s over her pouting…

      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Susette from Southern California

The dolls are lovely in their new dresses. Great design and finishing.

Glad you’re seeing Anna, Marilyn. Don’t feel too sorry about no snow. When snow comes, they live only 70 miles from it in the mountains, not far from the beaches where they live.

    1. Thank you Susette,
I have a few more things to do and it will be listing time… See, I said it was almost as fast to sew for 3 as it was for 1! I think it was!

I don’t even want to think about snow yet! I am not a cold weather person, but my hubby loves it when it get cool and crisp in the air… I’m a Fall kind of gal!
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne
