Stella, my Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll, is in the limelight today…

Well, so are the others, but SHHHHH… don’t tell Stella and she might not notice…

First up, I wanted to show you what we saw on the way home from church… a bald eagle sitting in a tree, about 1 minute from our house… :o) I made my hubby back the car up so I could get a picture of him… It’s not very good, but he was a beauty… I wanted to wait and had my phone set to video in case he flew off, but some car came up behind us, so we had to go…

Next up… someone else bought a slip from my Etsy shop last night! EEEEEKKKKK! I have no idea again who this is, because she didn’t leave me a message! I can’t find out anything until probably Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday. I talked to my friend today, and he’s going to check it out… but it just seems impossible without talking to someone. I called again on a number I found for Etsy and it just said, “It’s best to use our online help!” I don’t think so….

Stella is finally getting some “modeling” time and I think she’ll be okay now… she was just feeling left out the other day when I didn’t have her dress finished…

I have lots of pictures of her because she is such a pretty doll. I tried to narrow them down, but I kept saying, “no, I want to keep that one, no… I have to use that one…she’s got such a cute look on her face in that one… I love her pose in that one…” so I just culled the ones that were the slightest bit blurry or duplicates of another one…

I can’t remember if I showed a closeup of her hair ribbon before, but here it is… and also, a closeup of that pretty button too…

Stella was definitely made to wear green, wasn’t she?

I told her “No promises…” but I started on a pair of gold leather shoes… the leather is quite stiff, so I’m not sure I can make a pair of mary jane’s out of it, but I’m going to try. That should earn me some “brownie points” don’t you think?

I read what Claudia and Sally said about Sara’s red ribbon getting lost because it was so thin… It was just a six strand piece of embroidery floss, so I also took a look at my ribbons and could only find this one color of the dark red in my 4mm silk ribbon. Everything else I had was either too red, or too cherry red, or too purplish red… So this will have to do… I changed it and I do think it looks better… I also took a few pictures of Sara because my other ones were kind of shadowy…

And not to be left out, Rozen exchanged her boots after she saw Joy’s comments about maybe needing some pretty black shoes. I didn’t think I had anything that would work, but I crammed (and I do mean crammed) her feet into these shoes I use for the Dianna Effner Little Darlings. There is NO room at all for thigh highs this time. My shoes aren’t included with the dolls sets anyway, but I do like to find the right shoes to have the right look…

Well, that’s it from me today…
I hope you enjoyed all the pictures of my girls…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a thrill, to se a bald eagle, and so close to your home, too! We do see them out here sometimes, but not in our particular neighborhood. Oftentimes we see them driving across the flats from Everett to Snohomish, though (Everett is 15 miles north of us), so not terribly far away.

Stella definitely was meant to wear green, and that dress is just gorgeous! I love the button you chose to accent the frothy bow.

Good luck on the gold shoes!! I don’t think I would attempt cobbling; just not in my field of interest at this time. But you do a beautiful job, and if that gold leather cooperates, you will have a fantastic pair of shoes!

The new bow on Sara’s dress shows up much better. You could probably have picked out another color from the print, but you already had the embroidery floss woven into the picot edge of the eyelet, and you wouldn’t want to have to undo that!!

I do like the black Mary Janes with Rozen’s dress. As you said, since the shoes don’t go with the outfit you are selling (unless you make them specifically for it), it doesn’t matter if they’re a bit tight. I hope the poor girl’s feet are out of those shoes again, though, so she can wiggle her toes!!

Several of you asked about the Skinny Minnie Tortilla Soup when I mentioned it the other day. It’s online, here: https://www.food.com/…/skinny-minnie-tortilla-soup-418042 This is exactly the same recipe that my best friend gave me. We finished ours today, but I think it would probably freeze well, if you wanted to do so. (However, it’s so good, you may just want to eat it all up!!) I don’t necessarily use fat-free things–lower sodium is more the focus for us–and I have used both the three-cheddar cheese mix and the colby-jack cheese mix (both pre-grated), so I don’t think it really matters what kind of grated cheese you use. I Think I like it with the colby-jack better, but…Well, I guess I need to make another batch and see!!

    1. HI Charlotte,
I asked my hubby which dress he liked best on the girls…and he guessed Stella’s too… He said to him it looked the most Christmasy!
I did get those gold shoes made for her…and she loves them…

There is no wiggly toes in these shoes… I can’t believe I got them on their feet… they are really tight fitting.

I’m going to look up the recipe… I love a good soup on a cold day! Thanks for the pictures too! :o)

Good morning! What a coincidence Jeanne, that I happened to see a very large bird, really large, sitting on the fence between our house and the neighbor’s just yesterday! I knew right away it was some kind of hawk, but it was so big, and I knew it certainly didn’t belong there! I tried to take a picture, but the way the sun was shining, it was hard to capture what i saw. Might have been an eagle, although i thought initially it was some sort of hawk. The head and beak were very hawk or eagle-like! I know that we are in the Mississippi Flyway, but are the birds leaving now?

Well, Stella is just adorable in her new dress! It suits her to a “T”, and the gold shoes will be just perfect! I think this is my favorite dress of the three, but that’s today, who knows what tomorrow it will be?

Perfect save on the bow on Sara’s dress! Yes, the bow was a bit skimpy, but the new one is perfect!

Rozen’s dress looks realy good with those patent leather shoes, which were just what she needed! I hope she isn’t too uncomfortable with them though! Maybe you should make a patent leather pair for them for the next time they need them!

Oh, that Etsy problem just keeps escalating! I can’t believe you can’t get hold of anybody to help.

    1. HI Linda,
We occasionally see eagles around here, but not very often. It was so pretty sitting up in the tree… the cars that passed us, (we waved some around us first, but pointed up as we did… ) no one noticed the bird…they were in too big of a hurry… :o(

It’s funny, I asked my hubby which dress was his favorite and he said Stella’s. She did get those gold shoes and now she thinks she’s hot stuff… at least her toes are breathing a little easier than Sara’s and Rozen’s.

I just had a bawling moment over the Etsy thing. I called the number and waited and waited and no answer… they say specifically on the phone message, they will not talk to sellers, this is just for buyers…but I am determined to have a conversation with a real person.

If I could, I would just shut down my shop, but I can’t even do that… since I can’t get my account and settings page…

      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Sally from Colorado

    Good morning, everyone!
Beautiful day here in Salida. I’m off to PT shortly to work more on my balance. Falling down isn’t such a blast anymore. Ha!
Wonderful to see bald eagles. So great they made a comeback. Thanks for sharing that picture.
VERY sorry this Etsy saga continues . Joy found quite a few phone contacts for them. Have you tried them all? A company that size and that talks about its carbon footprint should be a lot more user friendly. I find this all truly reprehensible and am disgusted. If it weren’t for a few shops, I would drop them. I wish I could help, but other than trying all the numbers, I guess the next step would be to file a report to what, your AG’s office? That might get someone’s attention. But these days, well, I tend to not be a Pollyanna. More of a Gloomy Gertie. Will keep the prayers coming, Jeanne.
The dresses look great and I am so glad you put a bit heftier ribbon on Sara’s dress. The gold shoes would be so perfect for any of these three. There is just one thing I would like to see. I love the dresses in my collections that have a band of lace around the neckline. It softens the whole look of the bodice and makes a feminine jump from garment to skin tone. Just me. So glad Stella is back in fine fettle.
Finally, we got my hubby’s pathology report and he is clear! Ta-dah! Thank you all for your support and prayers.
OK…I’m off to practice standing up and staying up! Have a great day all.
    Hugs,
    Sally

Dear Sally, what wonderful news about your husband! I am sure you are breathing much better after hearing this.

I made the “mistake” of looking on the French doll website and seeing Victoria. Geez Louise, is she is adorable! Now, of course, I want her. And of course, as you mentioned, she is sold out. I love her face and I love those braids.

I sent the store an email and heard back There are no plans right now for having another issue of the doll.

She goes on my wish list.

I look forward to seeing photos of your Victoria when she comes to live with you.

    2. HI Sally,
I hope you learned all about falling and staying upright… we much prefer you do the latter! :o)
Yes, Sally, I have tried them all.. no one answers, or if they do, there is no button to push for my problem. I just had a moment of ugly crying over it all… It’s not who I am to let sales go by unanswered and unmailed… and I can’t do a single thing to help it… I was all alone in the house and I let the tears pour out…

Such great news for your hubby and you… YAY! and praise the Lord!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Wonderful news, Sally, about your husband’s report!! I’m sure it really made your day!!

  4. Joy in northern CA

How great to spot a bald eagle and get a photo. I’ve never seen one in person although, I think they may nest up in the mountains the next county over.
The girls look great and their outfits with the tweaks, all ready for listing. If tights were being included, I’m sure in one photo, Roz could be holding them. 🙂 The gold flats look great so far. Lots going on at your place.
Glad your friend is looking into the Etsy problem. Curious, but on the number you called, after it said it is better to do communication online, did they cut you off or would a human come on if you waited? Sometimes you can get in through the backdoor on these phone lines. I would try every number you can find and go through their system until you can talk to a real person. And I would also do the same on all of their online sources and leave messages everywhere until someone answers. Crazy way to do business. Have the Etsy “help” forums actually been of any help?
We had high winds last night and red flag warnings, but fortunately no fires, although some did lose power. Ironically, it was the anniversary of the Tubbs Fire that killed 24 people here as well as burned 5300 homes in 2017. Wish we would get some substantial rain.

    1. HI Joy,
Thanks for the compliments on the girls dresses… my hubby even has a favorite… Stella’s… He told me her gold shoes were as nice as the other’s … I think he jests! :o)
Oh, the Etsy thing… don’t even go there. I have tried every number, (I’m actually on hold right now as I’m writing this), asked and begged and pleaded on the forum, clicked every link, looked at every possible way to get into my account… and NADA… nothing is working… I’m a mess right now, thinking about getting my second bad review from someone who I don’t even know yet, but I will when she sends a message to me, “Where is my doll ship?””” and I have to tell her my shop was hacked or shut down or something and I am just now finding out your name… Then I can send her the slip… but until then, It’s just a total mess…
When I tried calling the number a little while ago, the recording said, this is not for sellers, only buyers…but if they EVER answer me, I’m going to insist they listen to me… Every link I go to says to resolve the issues with your buyer… I CAN’T BECAUSE I’M LOCKED OUT… I can’t because I have no access to anything… it’s just like my shop has a mind of it’s own… If I could shut it down now, I would, but I can’t even do that! UGH UGH UGH

      Sorry… bad rant there…

I’m glad the winds didn’t cause any problems for you… and your neighbors… You do need some rain…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Just a quick thought here, Jeanne: Have you tried pressing the “0” (operator) button? Sometimes you have to do it a few times–or a lot of times!–(I’ve done this with other companies) before something happens (and sometimes it just doesn’t work), but it might be worth a try.

  5. Susette from Southern California

Maybe the eagle 🦅 got blown off course by the storm if you’ve never seen one before where you live. Beautiful sight.

The good shoes are certainly off to a good start. Have fun finishing them. Everything about these dresses look great. I really like the pin at the waistline.

    1. HI Susette,
Oh, we have seen them before, but it was just unexpected and he was just sitting up there, probably watching the field across the road for a mouse…

I did get Stella’s gold shoes finished and she loves them… now the other girls are a bit jealous… I need to get some little Christmas presents wrapped for them, I guess.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Barbara in SE Texas

I am so sorry you can’t find a resolution to your Etsy situation. They really need to do better or they might find themselves losing shopkeepers.

Stella really looks good in green. All the dresses are absolutely beautiful and I love their hair adornments. I didn’t realize the embellishment at the waist of Stella’s dress was a button. I thought it was a small bouquet of flowers. It’s perfect. And the gold shoes are going to be great. I still need to try some of that shoemaking thing. I have several patterns and lots of leather pieces. Part of my problem is I seem to have trouble spending time in my sewing room so I tend to pick things to sew that are quick. I finished the second RRFF straight skirt yesterday. Now I need to finish the two long-sleeved blouses to go with them. Then I really need to think about Christmas/holiday dresses.

What good fortune to see a beautiful Bald Eagle. And how great you got a picture. They are so beautiful.

    1. HI Barbara,
You’re not a kidding they need to do a better job on solving their sellers issues…

Yes, isn’t that button amazing? I’ve had it for a few years and never realized how pretty it really was next to this fabric…
Stella does love her new gold shoes… and SO DO MY OTHER GIRLS… I may have started a small problem…

Congrats on getting some sewing done… I was happy I chose these 3 girls to make dresses for… a week has gone by and I have 3 done. Yay!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Debbie in Tennessee

Those dresses get more and more beautiful by the day! Great changes.

Good news Sally! Maybe just a realist not a grumpist. 😉

    1. Thank you Debbie,
I’m glad you like the girls dresses…and the changes made… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. How wonderful to see a Bald Eagle. We had a pheasant on our roof one year on Thanksgiving Day. How funny to have to move because a car comes up behind you. In my town , you just flash your hazards a couple of times and people go around. People even double park for a few minutes in our three block downtown if all the parallel parking is taken. No one complains, we get put on our turn signal and go around. i’m serious!

Stella’s dress is just lovely. I can’t decide if I like Stella’s or Rozen’s more or just for different reasons. Oh, gold mary janes would be gorgeous with Stella’s dress.

Yes, Jeanne, I’m very happy that I bought a RRFF. Requiem has such a lovely face and she smiles which makes me happy to look at her. They have such a dainty look about them.

Well, do i get the enabling credit for starting the RRFF musical instrument buying? Congratulations to Barbara on the AG baby grand and I see Sally is now on the hunt for a full fledged orchestra.
Btw Sally, I see other doll board members on AGPT using the historical accessories with the Rubies and they look just fine. I plan to look though my historical collections (Samantha’s and Felicity’s especially) during the wintertime.

    1. HI Laura,
We live out of town, but when we saw him, we stopped, and as the first car approached… my hubby pointed out the window to the driver behind us, up to the tree, but they just whizzed around us… not even noticing him…

That’s just what Stella got… gold mary janes… well, sort of mary janes…

Yes, we’ll gladly give you the credit for starting the orchestra buying from my readers… it will be fun to see in a few weeks, who got what and what dolls get to play those instruments…
      Thanks for enabling us all…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I think Rozen’s boots were fine. 🙂 American Girl is offering a sleeveless plaid christmas and itg comes with, you guessed it, black boots! 🙂

    1. HI Melody, I think the black boots would have been fine too, but since the other girls have regular shoes, I decided to see if I could cram Rozen’s foot in those black ones… I can’t believe they fit…
      Thanks,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, your girls look adorable. They will surely be the best dressed at all of the parties they attend.

Today we celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day. I have two dolls that reflect this group. I will have to take photos and send them to you.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Yes, you WILL have to send me some pictures.. I’m all about pictures! But I think everyone already knows that…
      thanks for your compliments,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I can’t say, “each doll is cuter than the next”, because I think ‘someone’s’ feelings might get hurt :). But, ok. Each one is so darling!
