~ Old Fashioned Christmas ~ Dress set for Bailey is ALMOST ready for Ebay…

If I had only had a couple more hours in my day I could have gotten Bailey’s dress set listed on Ebay… but *alas* I ran out of time so it will have to wait another day…

I “think” I’m done, but you never know… sometimes I think I am, and I think of ONE more thing… which in this case, it might be thigh highs… hmmm… I forgot about them till just now.

We had a great photo session this evening and she smiled in EVERY single picture I took… (isn’t that amazing?) :o)

So here are some fun shots of her…first up in her slip. I thought they would put a smile on your face first thing today! :o) She’s a great lingerie model…even though she is missing her bralette. Her shape isn’t too conducive to wearing a bralette… her slip almost rides up to where her joint is and a bralette would make it look like a full slip, so I decided to be a little less modest than I was with Ten Ping. I hope you don’t mind…

Well, are you smiling yet?

Now?

Oh, I might as well show you… Bailey liked Ten Ping’s and Maryellen’s idea of a sweet treat for the winner, so she asked me to pick up something for her dress set… This is what I found for her… she liked it and wanted to show you…

I was going to make a jacket for Bailey, so I cut a trial jacket from a piece of beige felt just to see if I could make it work…but I was having trouble getting it over her puffy sleeves. It was going to take too much fussing with to get it to work, so I just decided to make a purse instead…I’ll have to work on a jacket pattern for her sometime when I have MORE time…

Her purse is similar to Ten Ping’s.. with some handwork done on the front flap! Ten Ping’s had a nickel in it to give it some weight… Bailey’s has a QUARTER! Woohoo… (The coin inside just makes it hang on the dolls shoulder much nicer!)

I made a sweet little hairbow to go in her hair… it has a simple snap clip on the back to easily put it in your dolls hair.

We switched our shoes to a pair of black patent leather ones because I thought the dress looked dressier with them than with the boots.

Here are some more pictures we took…

Well, it’s time for all little girls and “big” girls to go to bed…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, how cute! Bailey looks just as pleased as punch with her poufy new petticoat! And the purse is just the right shade of dusty cranberry to match the dress. The little holly leaves add a nice touch, too.

And, who could argue with chocolate?!

  2. Oh that pretty little slip looks like a cream puff on Bailey! Almost good enough to eat! She looks so pleased with everything, and yes, the black patent shoes look more like it! The little purse is perfect for the set and the pretty hair bow is the cherry on top!

    Mmmm, Hershey’s chocolate! My favoriet!

    1. Thank you, Linda,
I think I could just make slips and be totally fine!! But of course all my girls aren’t quite so “outgoing” as Bailey!
I’m glad you like how the set for Bailey turned out.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. LOVE LOVE the dress fabric. And oh how cute is the purse. You amaze me with your sewing for such tiny dolls. (:

    1. Thank you Laureen,
I’ve always had fun making miniature things…so shoes, purses, socks, hair bows, hats are right up my alley!! I’m glad you like this!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. You have certainly been busy! The slip is so cute, and the dress and purse are a beautiful Christmasy red. It all looks lovely on Bailey.

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
I had a lot of fun sewing for Bailey again! 11″ dolls aren’t quite so small so it’s slightly easier to sew for them. I had fun thinking of ways to make this set perfect!
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thanks Shara,
I think Bailey has the cutest little body for posing…especially in slips!!
I’m glad you like her in it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Bailey looks very pleased with the new outfit. Love her slip, and the purse is adorable. What a perfect outfit to wear for Christmas day for some lucky dolly. 🙂
Can’t remember the size of your Kaye Wiggs girl? Trying to figure out the sizes. Connie Lowe’s dolls are really drawing my attention too. She has many with interesting character faces. 🙂
Can’t wait to see the listing.

    1. Thanks Joy,
I appreciate your sweet compliments on this set! I love it too!!
My Nyssa and Hope dolls are 18″ tall… so you’re looking at Connie’s dolls…any one in particular?
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Everyone likes that slip, and no wonder. It’s one of your best — or maybe it’s partly the cuteness that comes from its tiny size. You are right about thigh highs to go with the shoes. I’m always surprised that you can find a matching fabric in your stash for any color.
You put beads on the bow! I love your cute details and the pretty Christmas sparkle.

Joy mentioned Connie Lowe dolls, so I looked them up

    1. Hi Marilyn,
It’s the same kind of slip I usually make, but I think it’s Bailey’s personality that makes it seem sweeter!
Yes, I copied the beads from Ten Ping’s hair bow! Thanks!!
I asked Joy which doll of Connie’s she was pining for…maybe she’ll let us know…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. The slip isn’t your usual style. I like it! Sometime could you show us what kind of clip you use on the hair bows? Is like the claw thingie you used in her hair yesterday? I can’t envision how it works with a bow attached. Moving the bottom button over did make a difference. The previous placement looked off to me as well. Questions about the coins you use to weight the purses. Is the coin visible to the buyer? Or is it enclosed in the fabric? I also like the patent leather maryjanes. The high top boots didn’t seem to be the right era for the cute dress.

    1. Hi Julia,
Actually the slip is the same style but this tulle is pre ruffled so its quite full to begin with! I love it on Bailey!
I will show you the snap clips I use on my hair bows…
I’m glad you noticed the button… better, huh?
The coins are inside the purse…glued in and aren’t visible…
      Thanks Julia
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Adorable !Bailey looks pleased as Christmas punch with her dress set. The slip is wonderful with that extra layer of tulle to really hold her dress out as she twirls, because we all know little girls love to twirl. I’m glad she has a big hair bow. It looks so sweet on her short little bob. My daughter had hair short like that at three to five and I always parted it on the left and pinned it with a big bow no matter if she was in shorts, pants, or a dress. Also always did it up with Goody foam rollers on Saturday night for church on Sunday.
The patent leather shoes are a much dressier choice. I think those are the thrift store ones you found on that porcelain doll. The purse is perfect for shopping.
I’m guessing you use these kind of barrettes
    https://www.joann.com/darice-40mm-barrettes-18pk-nickel/2452688.html
I used to buy bags of these at JoAnn so I could make make daughter bows to match each outfit, either by buying grosgrain or satin ribbon to make one or using a piece of the fabric from the homemade dresses to have a matching one like Bailey does.

    1. Forgot to mention, those French barrettes came in many sizes. I bought very small that could be used for bows for each side of her head as well as larger ones for single bows.
Glad to be reminded of them as they would work great on doll hair because they never pulled and stayed in.

      1. Hi Laura
I like Bailey in that little bob wig too…my favorite little girl look!
Yes…you are right…they are the shoes I found on that doll at the Goodwill. I really like them…and with the thigh highs on, the strap fits much better around the ankle.
Those are the clips I used for the hair bows when I made little girls dresses, but they aren’t what I use for my dolls. I’ll show them…
        Thanks Laura,
        Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Hi Jeanne, Bailey looks lovely in her new dress, glad you moved the button it is perfect now. I love the little Maryjanes and they do seem to go with the dress better.
Laura mentioned about her pen pal friend in Australia with all she has to do alongside Christmas. I can relate to that. My garden needs more attention than I have time for at the moment. I have to water my baskets and pots of flowers and veges at least every second day so I am grateful when it rains (especially if it rains overnight). It was 24C yesterday and 23C today they said last night so I think I will be watering this morning. I managed to get a small parcel off to my sister yesterday, way late should have gone on Friday to get there for Christmas, still have to get my brother’s parcel off so his will be even later. Haven’t even thought about my brother and his family in Texas!!
I have our congregation coming here for a BBQ Christmas party on Sunday and my house looks like Santa’s workshop! So today is cleaning day. The dog doesn’t know it yet but he isn’t getting a walk this morning. If I have any energy left I might take him later (so long as it doesn’t get too hot). I have the biggest garden which is why they are coming here but next year we will be able to have it in the new gardens at the church/Delta site which will be great for me! I simply haven’t had time for any dolly sewing so hope to get some done over next year. I want to work with Ashley and make up some stories around our dolls and have seasonal displays to photograph. I think she will love that. Sam will have to get busy and make us some accessories.

    1. Hi Anne,
Busy as usual…you get more done than all of us combined on here…well. at least it seems that way!
I’m glad you like Bailey’s finished set and hope you’ll get back to your sewing soon…
Try to fit in some rest if you can!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I had a hair appointment this morning so I’m late weighing in. I just realized that Bailey’s wig is the same one I have for Lolla. Lolla’s is darker/redder but isn’t it the cutest wig?! I love the petticoat. We need a tutorial on how to make that kind of slip. I thought the boots were cute, but I do like patent leather better with the dress. The wig is perfect for bows. The purse is too cute. How wonderful that Bailey kept a smile on her face throughout the arduous photo session. Such a sweet disposition. A joy to work with.

    1. Thank you Barbara…
I’m not sure which wig this is..just one I picked up somewhere…I like it framing Bailey’s face.
That was the last piece of that ruffled lace in cream. I am SO sad! Bailey is happy though.
Our photo session was one of the best…I think her smiling face helped!! :o)
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Hi Jeanne
What a sweet dress set. Your Bailey looks lovely in it. Someone will be very happy to be the winner of this auction. Like Joy I too am interested in Connie’s dolls. For more than a year I’ve been checking them out. Her web site shows her work, some if not all have very animated little faces. There is something about them that makes them appealing. Marbled halls is Connie’s website { http://www.marbledhalls.com/menu.html } this is Alice Anne she’s my Connie Lowe wish list doll -> http://www.marbledhalls.com/forsale.php?view=40 Love the red hair and glasses!
Jeanne you asked me about the color of my Giggi. I couldn’t recall so I went to check but she wasn’t in my doll cabinet, to be honest I don’t know where I put her. I know she’s around somewhere probably in her box. Almost all my doll and sewing has been relocated to a very small room since my Danielle moved home. It’s been 2 years … not that I’m counting. I love having her and the little man here but I miss having my space to stretch out too. I can’t start a project with a three year old under foot. LOL
Jeanne I love my new mask works great with my sunglasses! Thank you so very much.
Happy hump day and Hugs to you
    Ingrid

    1. Thanks Ingrid,
It’s scheduled for Ebay this evening!
As soon as I finish your comment, I’m going to check out your links…there’s no harming looking, is there??? :o)
I’m pretty sure your Giggi is sunkissed…she was the one I was interested in at the time when you got her…
There will be time for dolls later…right now enjoy your family…but keep an eye out for Giggi!!! You don’t want to lose her.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. Bailey’s dress is just so Christmas but so tasteful! The purse and bow are the best!
She does have the best smile….so of course makes the best modelGood luck with this one!

    1. Thank you Kathie,
I wish I had more of this fabric…it’s a wonderful Christmas fabric… I have just a few scraps left for maybe one of my smaller dolls… :o(
Thanks so much for your kind compliments on it!
      Blessings, Jeanne
