Bailey’s Christmas dress is finished…

…but that doesn’t mean I’m finished with everything else… I still have several more pieces to go, but I’m getting there.

I’m sorry I didn’t get your comments answered yesterday. The first time I looked at them on my phone, I saw there were 15…and I thought that’s doable… I can get them answered, but then I checked a bit later and it was up to 21… I decided to just treat myself before I went to bed and read them. Thanks in advance for all your thoughts and sharing them… I love to read what you have to say…

Oh, and several of you commented on a picture you saw (briefly) on yesterday’s post, of my table with food on it… Actually that was just a picture Kristoffer took of our Thanksgiving lunch Saturday. It wasn’t fancy in the least but I wanted a picture of it… he took the picture and somehow when I was writing my post last night, it got mixed in with the pictures of Bailey… I deleted it when I was proofing my post so it was only on there maybe 5 minutes before I caught it. Anyway, I thought I’d show it to you… for those of you who missed it.

We didn’t have a typical Thanksgiving lunch… my hubby wanted BBQ’d chicken… so no turkey, but we had my corn casserole, sweet potato souffle, mashed potatoes, (Dole) sunflower crunch salad, a veggie tray, Kristoffer made chicken and dumplings and some homemade yeast rolls. I made my mom’s pineapple sheet cake for dessert! It was a yummy lunch!

Update:
For those of you wondering about Dorothy…I emailed her and she got back with me…she has been busy doing some writing and hasn’t had much time for dolly forums. She said she’d be back…and find her way to the sofa as soon as she can.
Thanks for missing her, everyone!

Okay, now back to Bailey’s dress…I think she looks adorable in this one… see if you don’t agree…

The dress fabric isn’t quite as red as some of my pictures appear… the best color representation is probably this picture from yesterday…

Patsy was making some noise from the dolly shelf and I asked her what the problem was… she said “SHE” could wear that dress size too… Bailey wasn’t the only one… guess what? She was right…she was also the one to find these high button boots and wanted to wear them at least for now… (Patsy is a 10″ doll by Robert Tonner.)

The bottom button is bugging me.. I think it’s slightly to the right and I’ll probably take it off and reposition it…

I found a piece of fabric that has the same hues of green in it and decided to make a belt instead of a ribbon around the waist. It is stitched on so it stays in place. It’s kind of a coordinating thing, I guess… anyway, I put together a little rose on a piece of pale green silk ribbon and did a bit of handwork too.

NOW…it’s Bailey’s turn… (Bailey is a My Meadow doll and is 11″ tall.)

I’m always a little paranoid about Bailey falling over so it’s easier to show her in something while she’s sitting down…

We both got a little bit more brave and she stood up (next to the chair…) :o)

Isn’t she adorable? Did I say that yesterday? Oh well, I mean it! :o)

See you tomorrow… now I’m going to go to bed and read your comments…
Blessings, Jeanne

I noticed several people mentioned that photo, but I didn’t see it last night, so I’m glad you posted it “for sure” this time! And I must say, that is a Much better lunch than anyone cooks around here, most days! Sundays we have our main meal at lunch time, but otherwise it’s things like a sandwich or some soup, and that’s about it! Your lunch looks fabulous! One wonders…if you eat a lunch like this, what is your dinner like?!

Bailey and Patsy both look adorable in the new dress. I love the little belt you made to go with it. In the first picture, it looked sort of gold to me, but when I took a closer look, it’s definitely that very pale green. The little boots look cute with the outfit, too.

Hm, I wonder what will be next?! A jacket? A purse? Or…???

BTW, I saw several requests for me to post a picture of Gigi in her new outfit once it’s here, and I will definitely work on that. I have a little chair she fits in nicely for posing, and I also plan to get some appropriately-sized doll stands, if I can find them. I’ve had good luck with that at Michael’s in the past, so I’ll start there.

Oh, and I got my new Leeann ballerina doll, Leona, and her two outfits a week or two ago. I will try to get pictures of her, too, but Definitely need a stand there! (I have to say, I was really impressed with the workmanship of the outfits; for something factory-made, they were really lovely. The leotard even has an invisible zipper in it!)

    1. HI Charlotte,
Since our Thanksgiving lunch was just going to be us and the kids, I didn’t do anything fancy… just our regular table cloth and even served Kristoffer’s chicken and dumplings from the pan he made them in…

The belt is a pale green but goes perfectly with the red print…
I’m not sure we’ll keep the boots, I’m trying to decide that right now…

We’ll be waiting for Gigi to make her debut in the dress! :o) …and of course Leona will have to show off her new self and her dress!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Jeanne, your table with the food never did disappear for me! That’s funny that only one other person saw it! This one is a bit different than yesterday’s photo though, and shows 4 place settings, so I figured it was your Saturday dinner. So you put all the food on the table? I have never done that, since we serve buffet style when having a big dinner. Sounds funny, since there were only the two of us Thankdsgiving day! But buffet style it was!

Patsy looks cute in the dress, but I love Bailey in it more! Bailey has the cutest expression and give the dress a special factor that I can’t quite pin down. I’m wondering what the other things are you are doing with the dress, a slip, bow, purse?? Can’t wait to see!!

    1. HI Linda,
I think the picture you saw was one I took, then Kristoffer took over and straightened up his picture with the table.
We always put our food on the table, except when there are too many people… like when Jean and Bithar and Alba and Edgar and families were here… There tends to be too many glasses and plates to do it like that.
I think Bailey wears it best too… she does have a fun personality… I’m working on the other pieces right now… you’ll see.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. So happy to hear that Dorothy is fine. We’ll look forward to hearing from her again.
Love the fabric belt and sweet flower decoration. It is just enough to draw in the red fabric color and is adorable. Always good to show that the Engelbreit/Tonner crowd can also wear a dress, although Bailey appears to be rockin the fashion show.
All of the luncheon food looks delicious. I’m with Linda. For your holiday feast, how about trying buffet style on that lovely side table. Then you can have a special centerpiece on the table. A solid tablecloth and white plates would be fun too. 🙂 I have fond memories of the big family get togethers we used to have. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, around 30 of us all eating around the tablecloth covered ping pong tables. Always a centerpiece and no buffet as the tables were huge. Uncle Don always making a point right after grace for everyone to pass to the left! He didn’t want to miss anything. At some point there would be a call for the butter to be passed from somewhere, even though there were always two butter plates, usually to Uncle Don. Fond memories. He died last year at age 92. Miss him. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
Yes, I was glad to hear Dorothy was alright… now is not the time to go missing…

Patsy looks a little stiff compared to Bailey, who as you say is “rocking it!” :o)

I know, a nicer tablecloth would have been better, but it was just our kids and no one was coming over…and it was just easier to do it this way… I do have a pretty Thanksgiving tablecloth, but it’s really long and only works when I have the leaves in the table, which we didn’t need with just the 4 of us…
My hubby was trying to help some young couple with a dishwasher early Saturday morning, and was supposed to be home by 1:00, but they also had a dryer that they asked him about… They were drying their clothes in the garage… so he stayed to fix it… he got home at a few minutes before 3:00…he just wanted to eat and didn’t care about the tablecloth or having food served from the table… he was just hungry!

Eating on your ping pong tables… that’s a fun thing to remember…
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. No worries. Next time, just fold that turkey tablecloth in half and use it. 🙂 Whether four or forty, add the spiff and the good china and crystal. Makes for fond memories. 🙂

  4. My Bailey waves to yours, as do her two sisters, Gigi and Kyrra. 🙂 I think I will have to watch this auction, Bailey is quite interested.

    1. HI Melody,
Well, you better keep an eye on your Bailey and Gigi and Kyrra… There have been dolls on here who got up in the middle of the night and pushed the bid button… and somehow a new dress showed up at their door! ….just sayin’…
      Thanks Melody,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Yes, I’d be at that “lunch” tab,e! A wonderful assortment of dishes and they all look delicious! I’ll bet you haven’t had to cook since! We are still eating strawberry pretzel jello and sweet potatoes and Turkey sandwiches…for at least one more day.
Our gas line to the house is being replaced today so no sewing downstairs and several workmen glancing around my sewing/ doll repair/ laundry room. I always have to explain what the baskets of doll pieces and parts are for and then they give me “ the look” that means “ what a crazy old lady”
I’ve over scheduled myself again and have finished all the doll repairs needed for Christmas but have quilting projects and cooking to do. Yikes!
    Have a good week😍

    1. Hi Kathie,
Our food WAS good and we are eating the last of the corn casserole tonight.
      Oh…I LOVE that strawberry pretzel dessert….I think it’s called a salad, but I think it’s a dessert!!
Since I moved my dolls to the bookcase on the side wall, at least people don’t see my nude dollies when they walk in the front door…I’ve gotten those same looks too!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. So very happy and grateful to hear that Dorothy is fine, just busy. Busy is definitely allowed during November and December. I have an e-pal in Australia and she is very busy. I can’t imagine Christmas in the summer. She is juggling Christmas as well as having recently been planting her garden and now there’s all the caring for it and her farm animals as well as baking, decorating, and shopping for Christmas. Except for the 4th of July, we can basically focus on whatever we want in the summer. Looking forward to having Dorothy back with us at some point.

I didn’t see the lunch picture, but it looks like you had plenty of good things to eat. I’m sure you had a lovely time together. We always put all the food on the table as well, even for larger get togethers. I just add extra leaves to the table. My grandmother always did as well and there were lots of dishes including bread and butter plates as well as shallow bowls for her special cranberry salad at each place setting. Then all except the centerpiece was cleared away for pumpkin pie, German apfel pie, and tea or coffee in the demitasse cups. I look at her china and remember.

Bailey is really adorable and the dress is very sweet. It appears to be a rust cranberry color on my computer. Bailey has an impish little grin and it’s neat that she can pose. I love that , but I wish the openings of the joints didn’t show. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. I’m guessing a slip, definitely a large hair bow, and maybe you’ll continue the purse trend.

    1. Hi Laura,
I was glad that Dorothy was okay too…you’re right…but busy is definitely allowed in November and December! :o)
We had just enough room on our table since it was just the 4 of us…
I’ll have to figure out what color I’m going to call this. But rust cranberry sounds interesting…
I’m working on the last few things…
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  7. Forgot to mention we got our first snow last evening/night of 2 to 2 1/2 inches. all the branches are covered and it looks like a fairyland. The snow is wet so it is lying across each branch. The Christmas lights are gorgeous against it.

    1. Hi Laura
We had our first snow flurries yesterday but they didn’t amount to anything… the wind was brisk and the wind chill was in the low 20’s! Brrrr!

  8. So glad you included a picture of the phantom lunch. Everything looks so delicious. Cooking around here lately has been pretty basic. Hubby had some dental work (prep for a crown and pin for an implant) a week ago. He was only supposed to have the crown work done but an appointment came available two days later to do the prep for the implant and he decided to get it all over with. He hasn’t been able to eat anything he has to bite off since then. Lunch has been Ramen soup and dinner has been something simple that he can cut up. He did okay on Thanksgiving because almost everything qualified. I never realized how much we eat that we have to bite into. Sandwiches have been out.

Such a pretty little dress for Bailey, Patsy and Sophie – and in my case Lolla too. I bought the Christmas dress this size last year for my MA Candy Cane Lissy doll. She is around 11″. It fit her perfectly so if anyone has a Lissy it’s an option for them too.

So glad to hear Dorothy is alright. I have her e-mail but was hesitant to put her on the spot as to where she’s been. I’m glad you asked her, Jeanne. Her spot on the sofa is anxiously awaiting her return.

I loved Joy’s sweet memories of family dinners. I remember those big family dinners with my mother’s family. That was when nearly everyone lived closer. Most of the family had migrated from PA to DE after my grandparents relocated there for my grandfather’s job, but we and my mom’s one brother lived in eastern PA, so it wasn’t too far to drive, especially with the turnpike. It seemed like forever though when I was a kid. Are we there yet? Today we cousins and our families live all over the U.S. and getting together hasn’t been possible. Sure do miss those days.

The city is outside once again chopping the center out of my neighbors beautiful Live Oak. Makes me sad but it grows up over the electrical wires so it has to be done. I don’t know how old the tree is, but I’m sure it was there before the electrical wires were. But in spite of the severe chopping it gets every couple years, it still continues growing. Can’t keep a good Live Oak down I guess. I wish we had one. Most of my trees are pecans of various types. We used to have a lot more of them, but we lost several to the bad drought we had for a few years.

Thanksgiving at my son and daughter-in-law’s is buffet style, using paper plates. Less cleanup and gives us more time for visiting.

    1. Hi Barbara,
My hubby is in the middle of an implant too and is looking forward to being able to chew on that side of his mouth… it sure is a long, drawn out process, isn’t it?

Dorothy will be back when she can…I hope someone saves her a seat on the sofa!!! :o)

I miss the days too, when families always got together for all the holidays!! Now with Covid, it would just be nice to be in the same room with people..forget the meal… ;o)

We used some decorative plates for our dinner…I had had my fill of doing dishes!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. I missed the phantom food picture completely. Your lunch looks very yummy! My dad and I had takeout Turkey dinner from a church right next door. It was delivered to us. All we had to do was eat! Hubs and Son are coming the second week of Dec. This month! We will do a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings then.

    1. Hi Julia,
What? No pie baking from Julia?
I don’t blame you… I bet it was delicious! Its a lot of work for just 2 people…glad your hubby and son get to join you soon! Have a wonderful turkey dinner then!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. I didn’t see the ghost picture of your dinner so I was pleased to see today’s picture. Those are beautiful paper plates. Now and then you find some that are so pretty that they should be china so they can be kept forever.
I see that you did use what looks like you good silver. What’s your pattern? I suppose if I had space and money, I’d have 12 sets of silver. My favotite antique dealer loved cut glass and would sometimes fill her big front windows with it just to watch it sparkle in the sun.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Yep, that’s what dinner looked like for us on Saturday… plain and pretty simple… but it was certainly tasty! :o)
I had some paper plates left over from last year’s dinner and decided to use them. I had 2 packages of them but gave one package and a package of napkins to Bithar when I took dinner over to them.
My silverware pattern… It’s Oneida and it’s called Wordsworth. George’s sister gave us 2 sets of it and I love it! Wow… you have 12 sets? You could invite ALL the sofa sisters over for a luncheon and still have silverware left over! :o)
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
