Oh dear me, I almost forgot to write a post…

I was busy again today making face masks… my hubby went to church to work on a job, Rebecca was at work, Reuben was a sleepy boy almost all day, so it was just me and my sewing machine and I did a little assembly line sewing! I made 11 more masks today… and have them listed in my Etsy shop… You can see them by clicking on the Etsy icons at the right side bar… then when you have one open, you can click on my shop name (I Dream of Jeanne Marie) up at the start of the listing and they will ALL open…

Friday, our governor is putting new restrictions in place… and we don’t know what they will be yet… but I think I was stress sewing just a little bit… as long as I’m sewing, I’m kind of in a different world… :o)

Here are a few of the ones I made today… I guess I was in a Christmas mood…

I was in a crafty mood and made Navi a new pair of shoes… this time a brown pair with a black bow on the toe area. I forgot to take a picture of them, but I’ll show you tomorrow… I was trying out a new glue gun vs. some new glue recommended on a You Tube video about making doll shoes… I’ll have to tell you about it tomorrow too… I’m tired and need to get to bed…

Thanks everyone,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I saw your masks in your Etsy store–love the cardinal prints (of course!) as well as the Mickey/Minnie ones! Your masks last night led me to check for “reverse nose fold” masks online, and I found a video showing one similar to yours, but with gathered sides rather than pleated. I have a somewhat small face (even though, proportionally, my face is “long”, with a high forehead and longish chin), so masks always come too high on my nose for me. I’m going to try the one I found last night, but may try doing that nose thing with a pleated mask, too, just to see which I prefer. I did make a slightly smaller size of the shaped mask, and find it fits me better than the first one.

I’ll look forward to seeing Navi’s new shoes. Maybe that will help her feel better about having to “lose” her new dress so quickly!!

I just may have to get one of those Meadow dolls. I joined the FB group, and I think I could be in Big trouble here! LOL (And my ballet collection Leona and outfits should be arriving almost any day now–my early Christmas to me. Maybe a Meadow doll can be for my birthday next year???)

  2. You certainly have gotten bit by the “mask bug”, Jeanne! Such pretty prints, so varied and colorful! I was wondering if you make different sizes, like smaller ones for children. Children have to wear masks around here, and of course, going to school, the few days they do go. Then too, will you make masks for men, which would be not so colorful? I understand you are using material you already have, so that is what you are picking from.

I have been dressing my dolls for Thanksgiving, what a job, as always! The thought of getting more dolls is the last thing in my head at times like this! Those Meadow dolls are too cute, though, and I am sure Charlotte will love hers!

By the way have you seen those 3 fancy AG dolls being auctioned off? They are going for thousands of dollars! Better get your bid in!! 🙂

  3. I’m kind of glad that you found making the masks could be somewhat tiring. I thought maybe it was just that I’m getting up there in age. I’m limited in the designs of the fabric by my daughter-in-law’s website having the Asian theme which is tied to her teaching Chinese brush painting. She has learned to teach using the Zoom platform and has students from across the country now.

I order fabrics directly from China, Japan and Thailand, so there is the added expense of postage as well as the fabric being rather expensive in some cases. I don’t recall exactly how many times I’ve been able to buy the last half yard of a fabric run by the time I’ve located it. I was notified by one of the sellers about the short supply of fabric due to worldwide
demand now due to people making masks whereas it used to be only Asian people who wore masks. It’s my favorite part of making masks, finding the fabric. Your masks are very festive.

It turns out that the museums were ordered closed again yesterday in California due to the upsurge in virus cases. I will be happy to never make another mask if this would just end.

  4. Looks like Jeanne’s Masque Shoppe is doing well. Fun to see the variety.
Can’t wait to see Linda’s Thanksgiving scenes. After Camp Meadow, I’m taking a break for now.
Sad to hear of the museum closures, Suzette. Up here in northern CA, our county has not been able to crawl out of purple due to cases in nursing homes. The happy note is that there are several companies with vaccines which may be available next year.
Here it is the birthday of Minnie Mouse, and the dress I’ve been working on is not finished. Ardyn is looking at me with big sad eyes. 🙁

  5. Your masks are great Jeanne. I had to make some for the family way back but they aren’t compulsory here except in Auckland and only on public transport and on all domestic flights. The virus does keep popping up here but tracking is pretty good so our officials get control pretty quickly. We enjoy our freedom to live pretty much normally without fear so most people are prepared to do what it takes to maintain that. It was great being able to go to the game on Sunday with no restrictions. It was especially great because we won, only by one point but a win is a win. The only thing better than beating Auckland is beating Australia!
I would love one of those special hot glue guns and some better glue. I have used all sorts of different glues to make shoes. I will have to make a note of the name and see if it is available here. All I need now is time to make some.
I love the way some of you girls have story lines for your dolls. I must get together with Ashley and write a story for our dolls. I think she would like that, she has quite a vivid imagination.
Yet another busy day today. It is our Patchwork Guild meeting this morning and back to some sewing this afternoon. First, though I must take the dog for a walk.

  6. Your masks are very festive and colorful, Jeanne. There are a lot of fun prints to choose from.
Our governor is putting a 10PM – 5AM curfew in place tomorrow for 3 weeks so businesses will close and people must be at home. I’m glad as fewer hours out might stop the spread. We’re spiking again in Ohio and that’s scary. It won’t affect my town as much as businesses aren’t open that late anyway.
Can’t wait to see Navi’s new shoes and soon we’ll be treated to Linda’s girls dressed for Thanksgiving. I was happy I got to share my dolls, but felt bad they were dressed so shabbily and lacking props. It seems everytime I begin to get something out I get asked to do something else and never get back to it.

  7. Your masks are so cute…love the way Minnie Mouse is front and center. My DIL took a logo from school and centered it on a mask for herself( she is librarian) and then realized she couldn’t breathe very well cause it was embroidered and too thick. So logos on the side is better. Let me know when you want me to pay you for mine.😉

  8. Love Minnie — my great-niece loves Minnie. Do you suppose the print would work in a size for a 4 1/2 year old? If you must wear a mask as a 4 1/2 year old, this might be the one. She was given the part of Mary for the Christmas program — I wonder if they’ll have one. Whatever, it was an honor to be chosen. Or imagine Mary in a Minnie mask.

We go on something close to lockdown on Friday. I’ve been making out my grocery list and waiting for news of my brother-in-law, who was hospitalized this morning, though not for COVID. It’s a stressful time for everyone.

  9. Minnesota is also going to more restrictions. I have no problem staying home. Dad got invited to friends and had me, my husband, and son included. I said we should slow down until we’re closer to Thanksgiving. We are closer now and all the numbers continue to increase. I had to be the buzz kill and say no thank you. Hubs and son are not coming until possibly December some time.

I’m making a few more masks for us. Ours are not getting washed as often as I would like because the pipe cleaners I used get curled up. I found another pattern similar yours, Jeanne. Giving that a try.

I haven’t commented since Navi had cold cheeks because she had no undies! 😊 I read every day even if I don’t comment.
