I finally gave in to making Face Masks…

Don’t Forget: Navi’s tiny little Christmas dress set ends this evening on Ebay…If you somehow missed it, you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE. There have been 370 hits on her listing!

Now about something else, I think mentioned by Joy… she said I should include that little bralette… (which was actually just a piece of stretchy lace pulled to the backside and held on with a straight pin… Well, I took Joy’s advice and turned it into a “real” little bralette… :o)

It will be a little surprise for the winner….unless they happen to be a reader on here and see this! :o)

When my sisters were here, I made them a few face masks and they liked this certain one I made the best… It’s actually called a Reverse Nose Style and is supposed to be the best kind for those who wear glasses… it has a flap that you turn up and rest on your nose and then it sort of hugs your nose without needing a wire…

My favorite thing about this style, though, is, how far away it stays from your eyes and eyelashes… that drives me crazy!

I don’t wear glasses, but I find this is my favorite to wear too… It’s the most comfortable and the one I keep on the longest…

Sorry about the crummy picture, it’s 11:00 at night and I look like a wreck… I guess I could have at least put on some “smiley” eyes! :o)

So I’ve been making a variety of masks from denim to snowflakes and navy to Cardinals, for a few weeks and finally got them listed in my Etsy shop. I’d like to get more put in there, but this was at least a start.

Now you’re going to laugh at my “mannequin head.” I used my wool ham; (that’s what it’s called in sewing) the stuffed piece that you use to press curved things on… I put 2 buttons on the front for eyes, 2 pins on the sides for ears and propped it up and took my pictures… A live picture would have been nicer, but then you can’t be trying these things on to show them off…

Here are a few of my listings in my Etsy shop… The shipping is free on the masks so you can buy as many as you want and it’s still free!
I’m selling them for $8.00 each.

I tried to take a picture of the mask when it’s laying flat and pleated.

Then I took a picture of it opened up like it would be on your face…

…and then I took a picture of the lining on the inside.

I used the softest, most comfortable elastic I could find…

Each picture is the actual mask you will receive…

Well, I guess I should leave a link to my Etsy shop… or you can click on the pictures of my Etsy shop along the right side bar.

I Dream of Jeanne Marie Etsy Shop

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What a cute little bralette on Navi! You may have started something here, Jeanne!! All the dollies will want them now!

I like your masks with the reverse nose fold. I wondered how that worked, and, from seeing your pictures, and a little internet research, I think I have a starting place now.

I do love the Christmas fabrics you’ve used; I think the cardinal print is my favorite. We don’t get cardinals at all in the Seattle area.

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m glad you like Navi’s bralette… She does too… feels like a Big girl!

The Cardinal prints I found are really pretty… and will make everyone’s face a little more festive this time of year! :o)
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. How cute Navi’s little bralette is! Just what she needs! I was wondering if it fits under the dress well, or just for a undie pose? Good luck with the auction!

I didn’t comment yesterday, since I really don’t sew much anymore, but you certainly did give some excellent tips to those who do!

I love your masks, and the various patterns. You and I know what the Cardinals mean to those of us from St. Louis !! I can’t believe you don’t have cardinals, Charlotte!

I don’t wear glasses either, but know how someitmes a mssk can come up too far and cut off what you can see, but mine do have wires to push them down, so that helps. Great shipping price too, you can’t beat free!

    1. HI Linda,
I actually didn’t try her bralette on under her dress before I packaged it up… guess I should have… but there is probably plenty of room for her to wear it underneath…

I tried to find the prettiest and smallest Cardinal prints I could…. I love both of them… apparently so did everyone else…
Thanks Linda… I’m going to make some more today…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh good, adding the bralette. Navi looks very happy. Maybe a few undie sets should be added in your Etsy store too? 🙂
Your masks are sewn so nicely and are perfect for the holiday season. Can’t believe I’m saying that. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully, at this time next year, anyone who wants one will be able to receive a vaccination. Until then, Jeanne’s Mask Shoppe is open. 🙂
Like Charlotte, no Cardinals here in northern CA either. Not a west coast bird. But, we have coyotes and mountain lions. 🙂
Will you be sewing for your Kaye Wiggs girl any time soon? Anyone have a Connie Lowe doll? Wondering how they look together.
We were supposed to have rain today by now, but only clear skies and a few clouds. Hope the storm didn’t miss us.

    1. Oh Joy,
Maybe I can start a franchise… Jeanne’s Doll Dress Shoppe, Jeanne’s Mask Shoppe, Jeanne’s Lingerie for Dolls shoppe, Jeanne’s Cobbler shoppe, etc… this could keep me quite busy! :o)
I’m glad you like her bralette… it is teeny tiny… definitely a ‘trainer bra!”

I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet to know who will be next, but a Christmas dress for Nyssa would certainly be wonderful!
We have Cardinals AND sometimes Mountain lions have been seen around here! Yikes!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Waaaaaa. Your masks are almost all sold out! You need to make about 200 more!!! LOL Seriously, I would like one of the 1st style and one of the cardinal masks where the bird’s head sits on the nose. Let us know if you make more.

I didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday, but I really enjoyed your lesson on the elastic. It’s so easy but I was also taught to use the safety pin through the casing method.

    1. HI Debi,
You mean the first one I’ve shown on my blog post here…the green and holly berries print?
..and a cardinals one with the bird on the nose?
I have more of those fabrics and can make you one… The cardinal print has already been cut into the pieces, but I have one cut out that is very close to the one in the picture… if you like it fine.. if not, that’s okay… I’m also making other Christmas prints too… I’ll send you some pics when I have them done…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. The undies are so cute. I hadn’t seen that pattern for a mask. I usually make about 25 per week for Suemae’s website, but the Santa Barbara Museum of Art finally came through with an order for 30 masks on Friday, so it’s the most I’ve made in one week. I started making masks at the suggestion of their museum shop manager, but they closed right away in April because of the virus. All of the masks I make are of Asian designs and fabrics. Love shopping for the fabrics on the web. Yours are very festive and so well made of course. Where do you buy the elastic? I use Softee but am open to suggestions.

    1. HI Susette,
I stumbled across this mask pattern when I was Googling something else… it intrigued me when it had that little nose piece that fit on top of the nose bridge… They are very simple to make… I can maybe find the video again and send it to you…
The elastic came from the Ebay seller yousal_97. I don’t know if they have any more of it, but I bought the round elastic in white…it’s stretchy and more comfy than some of the others I tried…
I’m shopping from my “own” stash and this is a great way to use up those pieces I can’t make any doll dresses out of… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Navi is a great model for unders. I am always making bras and panties for the dolls I repair..sometimes just sew them right on the doll☺️ Where do you find stretchy lace?
I’d like one of your masks please. Just a small print in a dark color please☺️😷 Do I pay you via PayPal?
I took the big step into a Meadow doll. My Christmas gift to myself! She won’t be here for a long time but I’ve drooled over them for so long. “Merry Christmas to me”🤶🏻

    1. Oh Kathie,
How exciting on your new Meadow girl…which one are you getting? Giggi?
I find my stretchy lace from everywhere…but usually I have to buy the narrower laces, about 1″ wide, online…just type in stretch lace and have a look..
Small print in a dark color…okay…I’ll make a few and let you decide…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Oh congrats Kathie! I love Giggi, she is so fun. You had better start now getting her wardrobe together. 🙂

    3. Charlotte Trayer

Kathie, check the Trims on Wheels website; they sometimes have stretch lace in narrower widths. I’ve purchased from them, both in person (they do the big sewing Expo out here–which will be “virtual” this year–waaah!) and online, and service is great! You can get on their mailing list, too, and (when things get back to normal) if they do a show in your area, they’ll send you a letter letting you know! Edie and Luc are really nice.

  7. Navi’s little bralette is cute. Everyone likes something pretty and lacy under their clothes. I love the underpinnings for the AG’s, but except for Felicity’s shift I don’t have any.
The masks are nice and festive. They will look nice with Christmas attire, like Joy, I can’t believe I’m saying that. I don’t wear glasses either, but I do know some mask come up a little higher. I notice it when I’m out for a walk and have sunglasses on. I saw a couple of male cardinals along with the sweet sparrows at the feeder this morning. They all eat happily together. The kitties inside were enjoying the “bird show”.

    1. Thanks Laura,
Navi isn’t embarrassed to show offher cute little body anymore!! :o)
So many of the masks I was wearing kept hitting me in the eyes so I set out to find something that sat a little lower down on my face…
I found another Cardinals fabric in my stash and am working on a few more masks…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Hi Jeanne,
Hope you and your sweet family are doing well. It’s been a while since I said hello. I feel like a stalker most days in that I pop on when I can, I read your blog and usually read everyone’s comments the following day. I think I was the first to read you this am and got my choice of face masks… yeah for me. I do wear glasses but when I go out I prefer to wear contacts. I’m excited to try your design. I really dislike when my mask moves up into my eyes. Looks like your design will stay put.
Navi’s outfit is adorable and I’m sure the winner will love the pretty undie set included with the dress.
Jeanne your sewing tips are always appreciated… What a clever idea for those itty bitty sleeves. I can see it being a time saver for sure!
Congrats Kathie, you are going to LOVE your Giggi. My first Meadow was also Giggi, she’s such a cutie!!
    Take care
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Thanks Ingrid and Hello!
I mailed the masks off today! Glad you got the one you wanted!
The auction just ended and the lady who won it will love it! Navi isn’t quite so happy!
I saw a sunkissed Giggi on My Meadow Fan Club and wanted her SO badly. Isn’t that the skin tone of yours… I do remember we were both looking for her at the same time when the one you bought came up. The one I saw last night was $875 I think. I can’t find her anymore… but she took my breath away for just a few minutes… sigh!
It’s funny, but I pretty much only like the sunkissed color for Giggi… something about it, I guess.
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne
