Back to the drawing board…for Navi…

Before I tell you about the title, let me show you what a good mom I am today…I give you PANTIES for Navi…what was I thinking yesterday???

Joy asked about sewing that elastic on in her sleeves… I was going to show you how I did that…AND I was going to show the Ultra Thin Velcro… I’ll try and remember to do that tomorrow…

Now to the drawing board part… this was the bodice I showed you yesterday…

I didn’t like it…the neck seemed to have stretched and came to a slight point in the front…the sleeves were too full and the front of the bodice was too wide….

It must be because I took my pictures late at night, but they are a bit on the dull side… the dress is a pretty red and the metallic part really shines in person…I LOVE this fabric!

…so I started over and made a new one…then worked on finishing the dress…

I added a “stitched on” pearl necklace and a little gold bow…(the necklace is floppy… but tacked on at the shoulders.)

Her skirt is just the right length to show off her cute little legs…

Hidden snaps are sewn on the back, covered by tiny red buttons and the dress is hemmed by hand…

Isn’t she looking cute? Still more to come so stay tuned…

Hope you’re liking it…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Picky, picky, but now that you have pointed out the flaws, all I can say is that it is perfectly lovely with the corrections. It’s a wonderful holiday dress that Navi can wear all through the season.
We may get some much needed rain here in the next few days. It will be so unusual and the plants will be thrilled.

    1. Hi Joy,
Yes, picky, picky should have been my middle name…at least when it comes to sewing…
It is Much better now with the corrections…
Oh I hope you do get that rain!!
Your pictues of the Camp Meadow girls have been so much fun to see… you are VERY creative!
I’m a little stressed about Poppy Chibbi coming here for a visit…i think there are 3 ladies ahead if me…qhat will I show her doing for 2 weeks?
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. For Poppy Chibbi, you don’t have to post every day. Just a few days each week to keep the interest going. There are so many things at home you can do. Helping you cook. Meeting a dolly friend. Taking a bath in fake water. or if you can go outside, hold her up in the bird house with the birds behind, or playing in the leaves. I know, choosing fabric from your beautiful shelves. 🙂 Our granddaughter has a project with a large Flat Stanley paper doll. We’re supposed to take photos of it doing things and write back. So, when the neighbors cat visited, we got a pic of Isabella, the paper doll, with her. Then because it was Veteran’s Day, we stool her up with a flag next to my parents grave marker. My dad was a Lieutenant Commander in WWII. Pic turned out great. At least you don’t have to write a letter along with the Chibbi pics. 🙂 I’m sure you will think of something fun.

        1. Thanks Joy,
I just looked and there are 2 ladies ahead of me… I need to read the rules again to make sure I do everything right… I think we are supposed to let Ricky know when we get her, right? and then when we ship her off?
I guessing it will close enough to Christmas, I might be able to make her a Christmas dress??? I guess I’ll figure it out…
          Thanks for your help,
          blessings, Jeanne

          1. I believe it depends on who is in charge. Our group has pretty much been on its own. Just contact who is next and get their address and send her off. 🙂

    1. Hi Dorothy
No, the bodice is too tight on Ten Ping…it’s in the trash…but a new pattern has been perfected!!
      Thanks, Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, here we are! Missed the blog this morning, since it wasn’t here for awhile!

Oh, Navi looks so cute in those lace panties and little bralette! Much more ladylike than yesterday!☺️

I see she has a new wig too, and it goes so much better with the red plaid. The whole ensemble is just darling! Love the necklace and bow too! Now what is she doing? Waiting for Santa or going to a Christmas party? You say more is coming, I wonder what that could be!

    1. HI Linda,
Thanks for letting me know today’s post wasn’t on.. .just a mix up in the days… duh!
Yes, much more ladylike… I have to agree!
I need to find a new wig for Navi… I have 2 red headed wigs and this brunette one… I’m not sure she’d work as a blonde, but maybe just a different style in a brown one…
I just got everything else finished…and went upstairs and grabbed some of my Christmas dolly props… :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Too precious! Navi looks so cute and so Christmasy. Where did you find that tiny plaid fabric? Sometimes I forget how small Navi is and how tiny that plaid must be. Love the bow and necklace. Her undies are really nice too. I love Navi’s red wig, but have to agree the black looks better with the dress. But she is so cute that anything works for her.

Charlotte mentioned yesterday that if she posted late she thought no one would see it. I head in for bed about 10:30 pm. That would be 8:30 Charlotte’s time I think. I always check to see if anyone posted late and read comments from you. Then I check again in the morning and make sure no one has added anything before I go on to the current post.

Haven’t got much sewing done lately. I’ve been remiss in tidying up after each project and now I can’t find the top of my cutting table to start the next project. That involves figuring out what to do with things I’ve acquired since I cleaned up last. Hopefully I will get that finished today.

    1. HI Barbara,
I found the plaid on Ebay… and love it… just type in metallic red plaid and maybe you’ll find one too… I have seen it in a blue as well. She does look better in the darker wig with this red dress on….and yes, she does look cute even in her panties… and shoes.

I try to remember and go back to see if anyone added something late at night too… but I don’t always make it… I’ve been really swamped with things to do lately…and have been MIA for a few days at getting my comments done… :o(

I need to spend some time in my sewing room tidying up as well. I’ve dragged out too many boxes of things and haven’t been diligent about putting them all back…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I did like the plaid centered on the bodice in the first one but can’t argue with cute. She really is a tiny little thing. She’d fit in the sugar bowl on the Thanksgiving table. Great idea to have just Rebecca and Kristoffer for Thanksgiving dinner this year. Wish some of us were similarly fortunate. I’ve even had to pass on Thanksgiving in Santa Barbara as well as Cypress, Texas, for Christmas. Very sad 😢.

    1. HI Susette,
I thought I had fussy cut that bodice out so I proceeded to put it together…it wasn’t until I had the lining in it that I saw it was slightly off… rats! But it’s not too bad, is it? :o/

It would be nice to just have our kids here… actually Rebecca told me she has to work on Thanksgiving, but she’s off Saturday and Sunday, so we might wait and have dinner on one of those days…
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. We Were right about the underclothes. The dress is cute as can be. It may not really need a slip, but I’ bet my now it has one. I considered a purse or hair decoration and think they’d be distracting, but if she has one tomorrow, I’ll know I was wrong. I do think she needs a Christmas present and I could go with a bear unless you can find something unusual, like a llama or a unicorn.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I think you might be “wrong” on 2 or 3 counts… but we’ll see tomorrow! :o)
I found something better than a bear or a llama or a unicorn.. .I just haven’t figured out how to work it into a story line yet… but I will! :o)
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne
