I am a “Material” Girl….

Yes, I am! Madonna may have made that song famous, but I am the “real” material girl…and it’s pretty obvious from my fabric stash.
My hubby helped me slide the big white bookshelf on a blanket so I could start filling it up. I “think” this is all my cotton fabrics but I may find more as I uncover tubs that are still stacked up in my living room. Imagine how full my shelves would have looked if I hadn’t given some of my fabric away. But I DO have plenty. :o)

It was fun seeing all my fabrics grouped together again…IN PERSON!!

So which piece will be used first in my new sewing room?

Something Beautiful in Blue?

Something Gorgeous in Green?

Something Radiant in Red?

Something Pretty in Pink?

Something Lovely in Lavender?

Something Yellow or brown?

I’m getting there, “yard by yard” and will have to find lots of places to put all the rest of my stuff. I did as much as I could in the time I was allotted, but hope to get more done tomorrow.

I’m thinking some of this stuff doesn’t need to find its way back in my new room. My hubby said, “It all came out of there, it will all fit back in.” But I’m not sure I really want that. I love the openness of the room so far and don’t want to junk it up.

I’ll keep working and figuring things out if you promise to keep coming back to see what I’ve done.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, when I saw that first picture, I thought, “She doesn’t have very much fabric!” and then I scrolled down and saw other pictures, and decided that, yes, you have a nice assorment (although I’m pretty sure *I* would win any contest between the two of us! LOL I have boxes and tubs down in my basement, as well as stuff in the sewing room, a little in the bedroom, some here, some there…..Well, you get the idea!! LOL

So, which color first? Well, of course, *my* eye is always drawn to the lavenders. I think the fourth one down in the left-hand stack and the bottom one in each stack are my three favorites thus far.

Gigi (Ten Ping’s friend) asked me to please remind Auntie Jeanne that she loves pink! She thinks the second-from-bottom in the middle stack would be just perfect for her!! (And, she added, it has been Ever so long since she had a new dress to wear!!)

  2. I love touching my fabrics.. i just didn’t the same thing before the Big Move… some said “ what were you thinking?” and many more said “take me!”
The fun part is we can go shopping in our own sewing room❤️
I know what you mean about “open space”.. I’m trying to do the same thing!

Your blues are bewitching, your pinks are precious, the purples are regal, and your greens are gorgeous. Can’t miss with any of them!

  3. I promise to keep coming back no matter what…your room is looking super lovely with all of those scrumptiously colored fabrics, Jeanne. Enjoy this part of the process!

    Blessings.

  4. Everything is coming along so well! You are not he Material Girl….you are the Rainbow Girl!
That is going to be so fun to walk in that room and put your finger on anything you want in a matter of seconds. It will spike your creative juices even more.
Have fun putting the finishing touches on all of it🤗🤗
Painting our bedroom today have sampled 4 colors on the wall..hope we have it right now

Dear Jeanne, I vote for Yummy in Yellow.

I love seeing all of the colors together. It is like seeing an artist’s paintbox.

  6. Oh the fabric!! Love it so much. Beautiful display. I love that vintage shelf bookcase piece which would look fabulous containing fabric too. Hope you are keeping that piece. Will that go on the long wall? Can’t wait to see the space when you are all organized. So inspirational for me. 🙂 I would love to see a pic of all of the stuff you are going to jettison. 🙂
Have so enjoyed your redo posts.

  7. Of course we’ll keep coming back. It’s always fun to see what each new day brings. I thought I might win the fabric stash contest, but it does seem Charlotte puts mine to shame. All that I have is in my sewing room. I don’t have a basement so I am limited in fabric storage. Probably a good thing because it does limit my purchasing ability. Making clothes for dolls does not deplete my inventory by much. I need to think of bigger projects. I would love to sew for my granddaughter but her mom is not big on concern for her wardrobe and next school year she starts a new school with standardized dress so no school clothes needed. I do have an idea though that I will share at some point in the near future. It involves an apron pattern and my electric fabric cutter.

You have a lovely fabric stash. I tried to pick out my favorites but gave up. It appears they’re all my favorites. Looking forward to seeing which you pick for the first outfit in your new sewing studio.

  8. All that material – beautiful array and organized by color. To walk in and see all that luscious material is enticing. Your sewing room is coming together alright. It looks so spacious even though I know you’re not finished.

Hope we get a tour when you’re done!

  9. Wow, you do have a lot of fabric… it’s like a fabric store in your very own house.
Something in yellow, as Dorothy suggested, would indeed be a lovely choice for summer.
Are you using your pretty new Kirsten as the model? Maybe you have a yellow with a bit of blue in it? It will be simple to find what you want.
As you put things back, I think it would be fun to see a post of all the props you have to use in your photoshoots.
Looking forward to seeing everything back together… and all this because you wanted a new sewing table. That turn out to be a very good call.

  10. Jeanne, what a beautiful array of fabrics you have! I have lots of fabric, too—my late mother was a quilter, so I inherited all of her sewing room contents, but it is not displayed as nicely as yours! I love being able to start a project and have all the “ingredients” right there. I have so enjoyed watching your lovely room take shape.

  11. Hi Jeanne,
Just have to say your sewing studio looks so light and bright, your floor is beautiful. I’m so excited for you. You are such an inspiration… painting, trim work, laying flooring, designing gorgeous dolly outfits. bravo, well done!
Your fabric stash is so much fun to look at. I’m imagining all the lovely outfits you’ll make.
    Happy almost friday!
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  12. Jeanne, I started following you just before you started you your makeover expecting to see more of the tips for doll’s dresses. At first I was disappointed but you write so well and interestingly and now I am hooked! I love what you have done in your room, Mine is a bit like yours was, The room was new but all the storage stuff wasn’t. Mine is still pretty much a mess and would love to make everything look as though it belongs in there but I am 75 and don’t have a ‘George’ to help me. Still you are an inspiration and I am looking forward to when you can reap the benefits of all your hard work. I’m sending you a hug from the other side of the planet
    Anne

    1. Thank you Anne,
I’m glad you’ve stuck with me as I’m working to get my sewing room updated. I’ll be back to sewing for my dolls soon and hope you’ll enjoy what I share.
      Thanks Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne
