I’m LOVING my new sewing room…

I thought I might possibly get everything back in my sewing room today, but alas, I didn’t. My hubby’s physical therapist recommended he switch to an edema therapist to help with the swelling in his legs and feet. Today was our first day and we spent a fair amount of time with her. She was wonderful and we are very hopeful for good things to come.

The time away from home didn’t allow me enough time to get everything moved back into my sewing room.

First I had to get the trim put down, and since my hubby can’t get down on his knees, it was all up to me. I’ve never done trim all by myself before, so I just started and was pretty pleased with myself. I got the miter saw out and a long board from the garage to use as I pre started my nails in the trim before I nailed it to the walls.

I had already primed and painted the trim so it was ready to be measured, cut and nailed to the walls. It took longer than I thought though. This isn’t a perfectly square room and I don’t think there was one corner that was a perfect 90% angle!!!

After several hours and not one, but 2 painful conks on my head from the hinge on the door, I finished almost all the trim. I still have to do the area with the 1/2″ x 4″ pvc (waterproof) trim where my sewing machines will go.

The area under my doorway had to have a piece of thin board cut to cover that rough area that we fit in there. It’s been painted but needed a second coat so it wasn’t ready for me to put up yet.

After all the nail holes in the trim were filled and painted I could hardly wait to get some felt pieces attached to the legs of some of my furniture and set them in place.

I went around my house collecting the drawers and putting them back where they belonged. I had to level my white dresser a bit because the floor sloped.

Here is a picture of a corner of my new room… isn’t it pretty? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone in there and just stared at how it looks!!

I know I’m going to love it and I still can’t believe it all happened the way it did. The Lord truly blessed me with my dream sewing room and I am very grateful and thankful to be able to call this mine!!!

My hubby has another PT appointment tomorrow but I’m hoping to get the trim all finished and the rest of my furniture in place!!!

Thank you for all your kind compliments on my floor yesterday. It really is wonderful…except for being so sore…still!! Oh well…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

That white trim really sets off the flooring and the wall paint, and just makes it all look so tied together! Absolutely perfect! And seeing it with even Some of the furniture in place is a real treat. I’m sure I’d be in there every other minute for another look, too!!

I’m sorry about the conks on the head though; hope you had a little ice pack handy!! Let’s not do That again, okay?!

I hope the new edema therapist will be helpful, and get this problem under control for him. Mustn’t fool around with that, as it can lead to other, worse things!!

  2. You’ve done a marvelous job on your trim, Jeanne. Your room is looking so inviting and I’m so glad to hear that it is your dream sewing room. It’s a delight to “hear” you so enthusiastic about it.

    Blessings.

You did a fantastic job. The room is beautiful and I know George is proud of the work you have accomplished on your own. Well, I’m sure you got some direction but still you did it. Can’t wait to see it up close and personal. Glad George is seeing the Edema therapist. Mom has leg stockings that pump up and help remove the fluid. They work pretty well. Hopefully, George won’t need that but just in case, I would recommend them. Praying for a quick and complete recovery. Love you.

  4. Wow, what a transformation! You are an amazing, multi-talented woman. I’ve done a lot of work on our old house but nothing like you’ve done. Your sewing room looks so inviting, neat, crisp and clean.
Hoping the edema therapy will give quick, positive results.

  5. Jeanne, your sewing room looks wonderful!I think you can add ‘Molding trim tech” to your increasing long resume!” Everything looks so coordinated ..loving the matching door chest and double dresser..know they hold MANY wonderful treasures!

Almost there..have you decided in your mind who will be the first doll to get a new outfit ?
Thank goodness we still have so much of summer left as I LOVE your summer styles:)

  6. Great job! The trim looks amazing. You’re sewing studio is really coming together. I’m curious as to who will be the first recipient of a new outfit made in the lovely new room.

Sorry about George’s problem but hopefully the edema therapist can put paid to the swelling problem and that his recovery will become more routine.

  7. Hopefully, George’s edema therapist will help. Swelling is so uncomfortable.
And the room is coming along so well. What a great job on the trim. Looks professional. Love the look of the white furniture against the gray wall and white trim. How exciting to be almost there. I guess the first thing, the sewing machine station, that started this fab remodel will be the last in? 🙂
Crop report: Zinnia’s are about 4″. Unknown squash varieties including the one nipped off have sprouted and are coming along. (Who says you can’t use 10 year old seed?) Special patty pan yellows are up as are the pumpkins. About time to yank a few zucchini plants. Always hate to do that. Still looking for blossoms on the tomatoes, but they will come soon hopefully. 🙂

  8. You may be a wood trim expert now too! Yours looks much better than ours and a “ real “ carpenter did ours! I wish I could paint the trim in our bedroom white…it sets off the color so well…but all the woodwork is the white washed oak so not changing it.
I wish the swelling would go down on Georges leg! Do you have an exercise bike…or maybe it is too soon for that?
Your room is just absolutely beautiful! You will feel so organized and excited to get started sewing again!
All your hard work is sooooo worth it!

  9. Great job on the trim. I’ve done lots of home projects myself, because sometimes if you want something done that is the only way it will happen. Your new sewing room is so very relaxing looking. It reminds me a little of my sunroom with a beach cottage look, but in a different color scheme. My sunroom has white trim also, but walls the color of chicory flowers and hardwood foreign in a light beach sand color. I have a old-fashioned large picture of two ladies in Edwardian dresses with parasols strolling along the beach and an Anne of Grren Gables poster from that PEI vacation along with all my sand, dirt and rock souvenirs from that same vacation. With the antique natural colored Victorian/Edwardian loveseat and rocker my dad gave to me as a birthday present years ago it’s a relaxing space. I call it my room of “Endless Summer” The yard’s a little of a wreck this year due to the COVID preventing early weeding, but usually I can gaze out on my ferns and various perennials with the breeze coming in.
I hope George’s PT continues to go well and you find time to finish putting your sewing space back together. I think I hear your girls calling for new summer dresses. LOL

    1. Hi Joy,
Do you mean the wood looking bookshelf in the picture I showed? It’s just a regular bookshelf from Walmart…particle board…not wood, like the rest of my furniture…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings,Jeanne
