Let’s see what I can find to bring a smile to your face…

HI everyone,
I did get your comments answered yesterday… just late!

I also managed to get the girls pink and blue dresses listed on Ebay last night. I gave them these names… the pink dress is called “Pink Perfection”… because it REALLY is…and the blue dress is called “Beaming in Blue.” You can take a peek at the listings by clicking the pictures at the right side bar, or you can click HERE and HERE to be taken to my auctions.

I also received a picture from Joy showing the St. Patrick’s Day dress she made for Ardyn…It was raining in CA yesterday so she had to wait to take her picture. It’s very adorable, so get ready…

I’m going to try and take new pictures of Eden’s dress tomorrow. I’ll try to use some of my brother’s tips and get some better pictures. It’s such a pretty dress in person, but my pictures certainly don’t show it. I’ve had it on Ebay for a while… in fact, I have 636 hits on it and still no takers. I’ll see if new pictures do the trick. It does look pretty cute with the 2 new dresses too.
This is the one I mean…

I’ll try to get a new picture (with “skirts on the dresses” this time.) and see what you think.

I found these pictures on my phone tonight… they were from a trip my hubby and I took to an antique store about 25 minutes from here. It’s called Annabelle’s Market and they have the prettiest things in their booths. I saw these appliqued pictures and got up close and wanted to show you. They were probably 18 x 24 in size…pretty big, actually and very eye catching. I think they are made from a floral print fabric that has had the flowers cut out and arranged differently than they were in the original print…sort of stacked, if you will. I’m assuming they used Wonder Under or Heat and Bond to hold them in place as they laid the picture together. They made an arrangement in a vase and then did some free-form stitching to hold the pieces in place. I love the kind of rough edges and the “out of the lines” that is created by the black thread. I thought you might too… I didn’t see any signs that said not to take any photographs, but I wasn’t sure…so I hurriedly took a picture of 2 of the framed pictures and then a couple close ups of one of them…

These last 2 pictures really show the details. I LOVE how they took tiny little squares and made the white vase…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

The pink and blue dresses are just darling. I’m still partial to the pink one, though!!

Joy, I love Ardyn’s new dress! So cute, and just perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!!

Oh, yes, those are most likely fusible applique, with freeform stitching over the pieces. It’s a fun technique to do (I’ve tried it, on a small scale). I think the white vase is done in a sort of mosaic technique. I”m glad you were able to get a couple of close-up pictures, too!

Today we went to get our taxes done–but it turned out we had to just drop off the stuff, and not sit down with Shelly, like we usually do! However, I did get to talk to her and Debbie, both (they both work there, and I’ve known them for quite a while), and I showed them my bag I’d made before Expo. Ron and I ran some other errands, and picked up a pizza before we headed home; we had some for supper, and will finish it for lunch. A nice outing!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
You’re just s pink girl through and through! :o)

I think the pictures might have a layer of fleece or maybe flannel, because they seemed just a slight bit padded. I’d love to try one. I used to do lots of applique pictures, but never any like this…

We got our taxes done about a week or so ago, before things were being shut down…

Hope you and your hubby are faring well.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh, the dresses are so beautiful. Love the lush green grass and brilliant sunshine behind in your wonderful visions. Just seeing the photos makes my day. 🙂
The artisan quilting pieces are beautifully done. I do hope someone gives them a new home soon.
Ardyn is sleeping in this morning or I’d show her the photo and tell her how nice Jeanne has made her a star. That was so sweet of you.
Here’s my story of day one of isolation. We were home all day except for our mile morning walk. Didn’t see anyone. Around four we hopped in the car and drove to the other house to bring in the garbage cans. The number of people outside was unbelievable. The kids, parents, neighbors, oldsters, walking, riding bikes, skate boarding, or zipping by on scooters was something I’ve never seen before. We stopped counting people at 150. Some were keeping their distance of 6ft, but many not. Since it had rained most of the day, everyone was out at the same time I guess. It really was a happy scene of neighborhood fun. Not sure how folks can last stuffed inside, but if this was an example, not too long. We’re so social. 🙂

Dear Joy, Ardyn is adorable in her new dress. Green is definitely a great color for her.

I have a question. Do you know what wig she is wearing? I really like it.

      Dolly hugs and safe travels.

      1. The wig came with Ardyn. It is marked Jusuns which you can probably find online. They have lots of wigs. No particular name as it is in Chinese/Korean characters.

    2. Hi Joy,
Yesterday the sun was shining and the day was so pretty, but today it’s about as dreary and windy and rainy as can be. I can’t get any new pictures of Eden’s dress, so I had to table that idea.
Yes, Ardyn is a little rock star…being een from California to France and down to New Zealand! You’re going to have to buy her a bigger size wig for that “big head” she’s going to get!! :o)
Being secluded is a great time to clean house….OR MAYBE GET STARTED PAINTING MY KITCHEN CABINETS!!!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, thank you for the smiles today. There is always happiness in the dolly world.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
It was my pleasure to bring smiles to everyone who reads this today! I’m glad you were one of them!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. What a beautiful dress in Ardyn. I just realized Ardyn was holding a clover whereas at first I thought it was appliquéd on her dress. Her outfit is just fabulous.

The pictures in the antique shop are very unique. I never cease to be amazed by the talent of some people. Jeanne and many of her readers enjoy their own talents as well. I appreciate seeing their work so Jeanne thank you for sharing their photos and yours!

    1. Hi Paula,
Yes, Ardyn is definitely a little cutie, isn’t she?

I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the pictures I shared. I always look to see what others are making too.
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. What a rainy day we are having, Jeanne! This post with the doll dresses certainly brings a few rays of sunshine that brighten the day!

Joy, your Arden is so beautifully dressed! Is this the same pattern you showed us the other day? It certainly looks as Irish as you can get, and she could be called an Irish
    Colleen in that sweet outfit!

The two pictures you showed, Jeanne, are just beautiful! Are they quilted in the back, or do they have quilt batting ? They are so different and a treasure to anyone who would own them. I wonder how much they go for.

Well, back to taking down the St. Pat’s scenes, and onto spring! It’s here, you know!

    1. Hi Linda,
We are having the same wet, windy day here…Eden didn’t get her picture retakes, that’s for sure.
I’m not sure what the backs of those pictures looked like, but I’m guessing they were stitched onto some thin layer of batting or fleece.
I didn’t check the price of them either… they were really nice and very well done…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

They might have used a bit of trapunto here and there, too, to add some dimension to the flowers. Trapunto is stuffing that’s added to specific areas after the outline is stitched–a small slit is cut in the backing fabric and bits of stuffing are poked in, then the slit is hand stitched closed. Later, a solid baking fabric is applied (in the case of a quilt or wearable item, anyway).

    2. It is the same pattern I used for the hummingbird dress except with a different pinafore. Pattern is by Trentsations on Etsy, but I had to made modifications. 🙂

  6. The pink and blue dresses are so sweet and springlike. Two dollies will be gorgeously dressed for Easter in this finery.
Ardyn’s dress and pinafore are just lovely, Joy. You certainly sewed that up quickly. She looks so sweet holding her shamrock.
Those appliqued flower picture are beautiful. Thanks for showing them, Jeanne.
Happy Spring, everyone. It’s here at last. My daffodils are up and in bud. Yeah!

    1. Thank you Laura,
It would be fun to think that both dresses could go to the same house…maybe that will happen…maybe not..
It felt like Spring here yesterday but today it’s so dreary and wet…not too pretty today…
      I’m ready for some sunshine!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Those ebay listings are great…hope the Spring buying bug hits so those dresses can be worn on a pretty AG for Easter!
Ardyn is just adorable and even more adorable in that St Pat’s dress..what detail and fabric combos!
Well not much going on here…enjoy the extra time for Dolly sewing!

    1. Hi Kathie,
I hope people will check out Ebay instead of being glued to the TV or the internet. This might be interesting to see what happens.

I’m in my seeing room now, but debating what to do..
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Thank you everyone for the kind comments on Ardyn and her dress. I’m hoping to make something for Easter for her, but definitely need a different pattern. 🙂

    1. Maybe use the same dress pattern, but put a waist on it with a full skirt… just a thought.
      Blessings, Jeanne
