Pictures from readers…inquiring “eyes” want to see!

Remember Nyssa’s blue dress… Blissful in Blue? Well, the winner of it sent me some pictures of the dress on her doll and a few more! I think you’ll enjoy seeing them…

Since Theresa was the only bidder on the dress, I don’t mind sharing who won it…no competition! She sent me this sweet note…
“The lovely Missy won the drawing to be the first to wear Blissful in Blue, and I wanted to share a photo with you. It was funny, when I went to get Missy off the bench where she was sitting next to Nyssa, I noticed the dress Nyssa is wearing appears to be made from the same pattern as Blissful in Blue! The skirt is made shorter, has a “grow tuck” in it, and another contrasting layer underneath, but the bodice is exactly the same. So second, a photo of Missy and Nyssa in their “matching” dresses, and then some of the other girls wanted to get in on the photo shoot, so a third photo of Sienna, Layla, Nyssa, Missy, and mini Hope. Sienna is the first doll Kaye made into a resin bjd doll from one of her early porcelain dolls, Sina. I just love all of Kaye’s dolls! I have a few others, but they all wouldn’t fit in the photo! Sorry my photos aren’t the best, I take them with my ipad as it’s the simplest for transferring to computer for emailing, but the quality isn’t the greatest. I need to find some good photo editing software or apps for my computer and my ipad.
We all love the dress!!
Blessings, Theresa”

Isn’t Missy beautiful in the dress? The others are TOO! Thanks Theresa!!!

Theresa isn’t the only one with some dolly news… Kathie bought a 13.5″ Paola Reina doll and she is a cutie!! If you check on Ebay, typing in Paola Reina doll you can see all the various looks… from only 3 different sculpts. I have looked at them several times and love them all.

Meet Lou, Kathie’s little doll…

Here are the other 2 sculpts you can find on Ebay…with various hair colors and styles, eye colors and dressed or nude. They sometimes can be found for $30 to $40 and sometimes even come with 2 dolls in a lot! They are awfully sweet…

Kathie’s new doll got me searching on Ebay for my favorites…and look what I found… click on the links to see which ones stole my heart… Maybe you need one!!!

Here is another one for you…

..and one more…

Brown haired Paola Reina cutie

So here is an update on a few dolls we discussed a few weeks ago… the 12″ Dianna Effner Walk for the Cure dolls. Sandy sent me some pictures of the dolls she has in her own collection and this explanation about them.

“Jeanne, these were dolls made for walk for cure dolls in limited edition and were bjd dolls. I have the Brunette but I paid for a repainted one since these dolls are not signed by artist but company painted. I also have Little red Riding Hood repainted and also Alice in wonderland repainted. I prefer them repainted since they look more like an Effner looking doll. They are limited and only available on secondary market. I will to attach a picture of my Cure Cancer doll and little red Riding Hood if my tablet will let me. These dolls are 12′ tall not 13′ like the little Darlings. I can’t find my pics of Alice in Wonderland right now so will include a pic of Jingle Joy Dancer that I bought and repainted and rewigged. Just FYI.

Here is Little Red Riding Hood… before and after…

Jingle Joy Dancer… before and after…

and last up is one of the Walk for the Cure dolls… before and after…

I have to agree with Sandy… they ARE much prettier repainted!

Well that’s it for today…
Come back tomorrow to see what’s up!
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Charlotte Trayer

It was so nice of Theresa to send you pictures of her Missy in that blue dress. It’s lovely on her!!

And what fun to see all the other dollies, too!! Such a fun post today!

Thought I’d let you all know, the orthopedic doctor tested my strength, said I’m “very strong”, and that it’s just sprained shoulder, not a torn rotator cuff (or torn anything else). He said I wouldn’t have been able to push back like that if something was torn. So, some exercises, and heat, and ibuprofen….until it heals. I’m glad that’s all it was! (I fell at home the night of 3/2 and wrenched my shoulder.)

  2. How wonderful! I wish more people would send pictures after they purchased an outfit from you. They are fun to see. I love the Paola Reina dolls but never really checked the prices. Amazing! Gotta have one. I think I can squeeze it in before I have to make the final payment on my Dumpling. Thanks for the links. After experiencing the Little Darlings, it is hard not to look critically at the face painting on most dolls. The repainted dolls definitely are better. Dianna’s technique is exquisite, and I’m thankful for her and all the people she has trained.

Cool day here today – and sunny. Might get some rain tomorrow sometimes but just to be on the safe side I’m off to mow my lawn today. The clover has totally taken over. No grass yet, but lots of clover. And wildflowers. In my lawn. I love it. I really hate to mow them down, but I live inside the city limits and I don’t want a notice from the city that I need to mow my lawn. I’m heading that off at the pass.

  3. Oh how fun seeing the “Dolly News” this morning. Maybe this should be a regular feature. 🙂 Such a great collection of Kaye’s at Teresa’s place. And Kathie’s Paola Reina, Lou is just a sweetie. The repaints at Sandy’s of the Effner 12 inchers are quite amazing. Great seeing all of the dollies this morning.
Glad to hear the good report on Charlotte’s shoulder progress. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to another clear sunny day today. So nice.

  4. Oh, yes, it is fun to see other readers dollies, Jeanne, and fun to see them wear your creations. I’ll have to send one of Betsy wearing the outfit you made, even though I bought it from another seller.

So fun to see the Blissful in Blue on Theresa’s Missy, and what a surprise that she actually had another dress so similar!

Kathie and Sandy have some darling dolls too, to share, and it never ceases to amaze me all the different dolls there are out there!

I need to finish up shopping today, yesterday was not the right kind of day to do that with all the winds! I see that you found that out!

  5. I just looked at your links again and noticed you had a picture of the brown-haired Cleo. I just bought the blonde-haired. I just went to take a look and she pleaded with me to join our family. How could I resist. And it seems she can wear the same clothes as my LDs, so I won’t need to make her an Easter dress because Claire and Fallon have pretty dresses to spare.

And I forgot to say earlier that I’m so glad Charlotte’s injury was not worse. The healing process is longer than we’d like, but it beats having to have an operation.

  6. I know we are a doll-watching site, but I have to say to Jane from New Zealand how shocked and sad we are for your country and its diverse communities. Maybe that’s why there are few comments today as there really aren’t the words to adequately express our feelings.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the dolls, and I have ordered one of the red-haired dolls. Just what I need: Another doll.

  7. Those Paola Reina dolls just made me smile.when my little Loucomes I will dress her and put up her picture. The only drawback is the ones on EBay are shipping from Russia and it takes 4 weeks or more. My eta says April 15th.
Love Missy in her blue dress and all her sisters!
Sandy’s repaints are amazing…and I love the hanky dress on the pretty blonde!
    Very fun post. Thanks everyone
