Autumn Splendor is listed on Ebay and Who’s Up Next???

I worked very hard at getting Rebecca’s Civil War dress listed on Ebay Wednesday evening. My photo hosting program was still giving me fits and I somehow managed to get most of it figured out, except for the part where I sort of “tile” the fabric around the edges of my listing. I could not get the picture reduced for anything, so I just left it huge…Because it’s so close up, it’s a bit off in color too… but it’s listed…that’s what counts! If you want to see it, you can click on the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE. Here are a few pictures of it just because I like it so much! :o)

In my post yesterday I asked the question, just kind of thinking out loud… Who will be next? Well, a few of you voiced your opinions and I took that as some direction, since I had no idea who to pick next… So I wrote down the 4 names that were mentioned…(Kirsten was kind of a secondary pick)
They were Noel, my little 10″ Boneka doll; Ten Ping, my little 8″ doll from Ruby Red Galleria; Felicity, an American Girl doll; and Nyssa, an 18″ resin doll by Kaye Wiggs. Want to see the dolls in contention for a new dress?

Here’s a little bit closer picture…

So anyway, I took those names and wrote them down and folded them all up alike…shuffled them around a bit…

…and drew out a name…

She was SO excited she rolled over in her box on the dolly shelf.

I thought well, just for fun, who would be drawn next?

It was Noel… my little Boneka cutie. SO I will do these 2 dolls next… Nyssa first and then Noel…

Since Nyssa was going to be up first, I decided to pick some fabrics from my HUGE stash (it was hard to know what to pick… but just about anything looks good on her, so I picked these…)

Her eyes and wig can be changed to suit the fabric, but for now I just showed her in the grey blue eyes and a dark wig…

I think I’ll have all of you pick the fabric for her… or if you have another suggestion, I am open to that.

Leave a comment below or send me an email for which one you like the best…

Thanks everyone!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Congrats on getting Autumn Splendor listed, Jeanne!! I have a feeling someone will snap that outfit right up!! It’s lovely.

So, Nyssa is up next….Well, to tell the truth, I think the fabric that looks best on her (although it’s not my favorite as fabrics go) is the third one, flowers on a navy background. I think it looks good with her skin tone. I also like the black one on her–it kind of looks like a “Nyssa fabric”, if you know what I mean. I also love the bright blue pansies, a lot, but it’s really not the best one for Her, I don’t think.

I have a Boneka doll now, too–the little Indonesian one offered on the UFDC web site–so I’ll have to see what you make for Noel, when her turn comes. I am still deciding on a name for my little girl; with me, it’s usually a process, since I have to look thru all my baby name books (9 or 10 of them), and write possibilities down, then look at them, look at the doll, see if this name or that name fits, etc.

Meanwhile, Ten Ping is pouting just a bit that Her name wasn’t chosen! LOL I told her that, just because you made an outfit to fit her, didn’t necessarily mean that I would be the one to win it!! (And besdes, I Do sew!!)

Just to let you know, I am still getting both versions of your blog in my email! The one from WordPress (I think), which has a blue line at the top and a gray box around the post, usually comes about 11 p.m. PST (2a.m. your time, I think), and the other one–that I’ve gotten from the beginning–usually comes about 4 hours later. Weird….

  2. Jeanne, I love the first fabric you have shown, the black and white one, best of all. I just can’t see Nyssa in the brighter, flowery fabrics, for some reason. Besides, Halloween is coming up and you can pair the outfit with some Halloween accessories, and they will fit right in!

You said you can change her eyes? How do you do that? I have never had a doll whose eyes can be changed, so I wonder how that is done.

I have been receiving your blog faithfully every day, twice! Good times are here again, at least for me! Like Charlotte, the first one comes in around 1 a.m., our time, and the other around 4 a.m., our time (CDT).

  3. I’m getting the blog matching the date of the email again. Hurray!
I like the third fabric best but Linda has a good idea to tie into Halloween. I’d bet your toy box has a black cat in there or a pumpkin or two. Love Halloween decorations. Have you seen the plastic drink glasses with the skeleton hands holding them at Dollar Tree Stores? Woooooo!

  4. At about 5 am I had no trouble getting today’s blog. I’ll have to check other times later in the week or next week.
I see that Autumn Splendor has its first bidder, though, as you have said, you can never tell with an Ebay auction.

I’m going to disagree this morning and say that I like the blue pansies for Nyssa. Maybe I’m just in a mood for strong color, but I think you could make a lovely Nyssa dress with that pattern for the last of summer and early fall. Think what a lovely contrast that might be with fall leaves. My second choice is the black and white — it’s easy to find orange and yellow to set it off with.

It’s great to have you back sewing, but I’m missing the kitchen. I’m sure it’s not being neglected and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with fall colors in the kitchen.

  5. I’ll start out by saying that I have been receiving the emails on time.

Autumn Splendor is just beautiful. I am sure it will sell quickly. All the attention to the tiny details make it perfection.

Oh your dolls are gorgeous. I would love to own a jointed doll but can only wish and drool over yours.

I didn’t get to cast a vote on which doll but it ended up being who I would have voted for. She is just gorgeous. My choice for fabric is the black and white one and keep that wig and eyes. She has a somewhat goth look to her and black would be perfect and it looks great with her skin color. All your other dolls must be so jealous and I can’t wait to see what you chose for Noel.

  6. Your listing for Rebecca’s Civil War dress is beautiful!! Wishing you high bids!!

Nyssa looks especially wonderful in that first black fabric .. andcthe bright blue is striking.. either of those Transitionals would be gorgeous !
I’ve got Kaye’s Sienna on preorder so I’ve been working with Layla as a model… glad Nyssa won “the draw”. These beauties deserve some attention:)
Can’t wait to see what you design ❤️!

  7. Jeanne, I get your emails on the day you post them, they make my day I love reading about how your doll dresses are chosen and the touches you add to them. Nyssa has such a French Flair to her face with that dark hair and her gorgeous dark eyelashes, I choose the black fabric with the small white flower, and work your magic with some solid white, your detail work is superb you can almost see those little wheel spinning in your head when your coming up with these gorgeous doll dresses.
My second pick for Nyssa is the small red berries on the fabric.

  8. All I can say is “Wow,” pick the black and white!
Like Charlotte, I am still receiving two blog copies. But, at least now I am receiving one on the right day. 🙂
And here I am wondering about the kitchen painting. If you’re sewing again though, I can’t imagine much free time to work on it. I really want to see those handles installed on a cabinets too.
Got up a little late today. Tired from that 7 hour drive up and back to the cabin. River was beautiful, but didn’t have a moment to even look much. Ate lunch, chased yellow jackets, fixed the door lock, swept the deck, brought in and refilled the wood storage, and back into the car for the round trip home. We did stop at Ikea for Swedish meatballs and while there, I grabbed that bedroom set for my Meadow Twinkles. Still in the box. They also have some new chairs. That was fun. 🙂

  9. Hi, Jeanne!! I don’t feel I comment often enough to even have a say in this but my first favorite was the last one. I thought the blue and brown complimented her eyes and hair, however, after reading everyone else’s opinions, I went back for another look and I really like the first one. I say it doesn’t matter because any piece of fabric in your hands turns into a work of art. Can’t wait to see the end result. I LOVE NYSSA!!!

  10. Yay, Nyssa!!!

But…… my Nyssa is a dark tan, so I’m not so sure about the black and white fabric – I might go more for the bright blue on a darker tan girl, or maybe the 3rd fabric. Of course there’s no guarantee that I’d win the auction, either. 🙂

I’ve gotten your emails on the right day for two days in a row, now, so fingers crossed it keeps up!

    Theresa

  11. Dear Jeanne, I like number 2. The pattern is so dainty. I think she will look so cute in it.
I am happy that your Boneka came in second and that you will be making a dress for her also. Boneka’s are such cuties!
I am hoping that doll people (and all people) in the Carolinas will be alright. Dolly prayers for them.

  12. I like the third fabric, the roses on navy. I think that would go well with any skin or hair color. It could easily be used for rows of ruffles, too. It’s a really beautiful fabric.

I’ve been getting the blog for 3 days now. Except…now I know what Joy and Laura, too, were talking about because I am getting two copies! The first one that comes at 2 am, and has always come, is the WordPress email. The other one, that I’ve never before seen, is from Chimp Mail and is coming at 6 am. The WordPress email is an easier one for me to read, plus I know that clicking on the title will bring me to the website here for comments to read. Not sure how that works with the Chimp version that comes later.

    1. Ali, on the ChimpMail one, you can also click on the title, and it will take you directly to the blog.

  13. Well, today I just got the “I Dream …” email, so I wonder what is different when they come through.. at least they come through. 🙂
.”Autumn Splendor” is just beautiful. I see it already has a bid, I’m not surprised.
I really like the last fabric choice as well as number three. The third one seems more late summer as opposed to fall though. As far as what looks best on Nyssa I would have to agree on the first one. She doesn’t strike me as a frills and flowers girl Dolls seem to have a style they look best in. It’s like Samantha is definitely a feminine frills doll while Kit would not be IMO.

  14. Both the emails I got say ‘I Dream…’ one in the subject area and the other in the sender area. If you scroll to the very bottom of the email the earlier, on time, one has a button that says ‘comment’ and takes you directly to the comments here at the website. The other that comes late at 6 am has no button or link at all for comments, and it has a “MailChimp” logo at the bottom of the email.
At least I know now where they are coming in from, not that I need that second one, LOL, but better two than none at all showing up.
Jeanne, did you have problems with WordPress delivering emails before you downloaded the Mail Chimp to do it? (I always got them before, so I know there were no problems with sending mine.)

    1. HI Ali,
I’ve had both, Word Press AND MailChimp from the very first day… Aug 1st, 2014. So I’m not sure how things got messed up…
      ~ Jeanne

      1. Well, so much for that theory. One down…50 more to ponder. ; ) Thanks, Jeanne. Sarah must be scratching her head, too. I keep thinking about it and will email you if I can think of anything at all that might help.

  15. HI everyone,
I’m going to answer all your comments in one tonight. I helped a friend pick out some carpet and the day vanished for me.
Well, between the comments and the emails, it looks like the black fabric is the one I’ll be making Nyssa’s dress from. I found another fabric that I will use to coordinate with it and hope it turns our like I hope it will.

Ten Ping did do a little bit of sulking when she saw her name wasn’t drawn. Now kind of rubbed it in too, that she got spot #2. Felicity just turned around and got back in her spot on the dolly shelf.
Linda, I thought I had done a post on changing Nyssa’s eyes before…I’ll have to check…

Susette, I do have a black kitty and a few pumpkins… hmm
I’m not sure why some of you are receiving 2 posts from me each day, but I don’t hear any complaints…hope it’s okay!!!

Joy, we all want to see your new doll furniture.

Bobi, it was very nice to hear from you!! Don’t stay away so long…

Theresa, I’ll have find some pictures of my friends tan Nyssa that she let me borrow to draft some patters for and see if I can find some things I made in black.

    Laura,
Just wanted to tell you the last fabric, the one you liked, was the first one I picked. It IS very pretty next to her skin…

Well, I just wrote about some of the things I remembered from your comments, but now I’m going to see if I can accomplish anything tonight…
    Thanks everyone,
    Blessings, Jeanne

  16. H
I’m posting so late but happy about the choice of the black and white on her as she is now with the dark wig.Linda’s idea of adding some Halloween accessories is brilliant.
    Have a good weekend!

    1. Hi Kathie,
Just wanted you to know I saw your comments before I went to bed…
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  17. I have been out of town visiting Colorful Colorado so I’ve missed several days of the blog. I don’t know if you read these comments after the day has passed but I just had to tell you I love the idea of a “lottery” to figure out who gets the next outfit. I have so many dolls, so many patterns and so many ideas I get overwhelmed as to which I should do first. I’m going to try this to hopefully lessen my dilemma. Thanks!
