~ Autumn Splendor ~ Rebecca’s Civil War dress is finished!!!

A while back I asked for names for a Civil War dress I was making and getting ready to list on Ebay. I received a big long list of all kinds of names from everyone. One of them was “Autumn Splendor” thought of by Sylvia Jennings. I checked and didn’t see any mention of using that name before so I decided it was perfect, as I thought it suited the dress set pretty well.

The last thing I needed for this dress was a couple of accessories… My Rebecca made a beautiful off white pearl choker to fit close to the seam in the dolls neck and I gathered up some red apples and put them in a lace lined basket for her to carry…

I had to wait until Rebecca got home from work tonight to ask her if she could make a necklace for me so it was too late to get this listed on Ebay this evening. Maybe tomorrow if things go as I hope they might!

In the meantime, I thought I could share with you some of the shots of the dress to hold you over. Pretty soon it will be time to start another dress! Who shall I sew for next?

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Wonderful from head to toe. Love the basket with the apples. She and her friends must have gone out to the orchard and picked a few apples. Maybe apple pie or apple crisps are in the making.

    1. HI Lynn,
I managed to get Rebecca’s dress scheduled to go on Ebay so you’ll have to read my storyline to see what she did with the apples!
      Thanks Lynn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The outfit it just lovely Jeanne, and the pearl necklace is just “the icing on the cake”, so to speak. Good luck with the auciton!

As to who to sew for next, Ten Ping is, as usual, standing beside me, waving her hands and jumping up and down, and saying “Me!! Me1!” LOL

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
I thought a simple pearl necklace would be the right choice and I think it was!
Maybe I’ll put all the suggestions for who should be next in a hat and draw out one…that’s who will be next…should I?
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessinga, Jeanne

  3. Oh, How pretty everything came together, Jeanne! I especially love the third picture down, with Rebecca looking off to the side. It shows the detail of the lace cap, plus the beautiful lace touches of the dress. The sweet touch of the lace lined basket just adds to the outfit, and Rebecca’s necklace is the perfect accessory! This dress is a winner!

    1. HI Linda,
I like that 3rd picture too…it shows everything about this dress…well, from the waist up, that is.
Thank you for your compliments Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Simply beautiful! And the accessories are perfect. All together, it certainly is autumn splendor.
    Have a good day!
    Take care —

  5. What a well chosen name for this outfit and what a beautiful ensemble! All the pieces work so well together. Your talent shines through again. I especially love her hair covering. It’s looped ribbon details are an added joy.

    1. Thank you Lynn, for all your kind compliments on this dress set. It took a while to get this one finished but I hope it was worth the wait.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Jeanne! It’s so beautiful!! I love the coral ribbons.. it really adds sparkle! Rebecca is going to be so sad to give this one up!

    1. HI Shara,
You might be right about Rebecca not wanting to give this dress set up…she’s been wearing it so long I might have to really sweet talk her to get it off.
      Thank you Shara
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Just absolutely lovely in every way. Her cap is beautiful and I love all the touches of orange. The pearl necklace is perfect and shows at the right place.
Another wonderful outfit and design, Jeanne. All the AMG dollies are going to want this dress!!

    1. HI Paula,
I sure hope there are lots of dollies checking their computers tonight as I “finally” got Rebecca’s dress listed on Ebay.
Thank you for your compliments Paula.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. I like the necklace. Ties all of the delights together.
I wonder who will be the next sewing recipient? Have to think on that one.

    1. Thank you Joy,
I was just doing my dishes and wondering who will be next…hmmmm… better get your wish list in… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Dear Jeanne, what a lovely ensemble! Rebecca is ready to go off to visit a friend and take her some apples that she hand picked.
As for the next doll to receive a dress, I vote for a Boneka. Someone in the blog family recently asked about the Bonekas. You could make a dress for your Boneka.
Are we really almost halfway through September? I feel like I was just dancing around the Maypole (chuckle).

    1. Thank you, Dorothy,
Ok, so I have one for for Ten Ping to be next and now one for the Boneka dolls…we’ll have to see. ..
I’m glad you like Rebecca’s new dtess…I do too!

I know what you mean about September…where is slipping off to? October?
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Autumn Splendor is a lovely name for this dress. It came together slowly (life got in the way) but it came together really well. I think Rebecca is on the way to a friend’s house where they will make Apple Slump https://www.cooks.com/recipe/ck9i07al/apple-slump.html which is supposed to have been a favorite dessert for the Alcott family. It’s inexpensive, especially if the apples are free, and could cook while dinner was being eaten. If you Google apple slump, you’ll get several recipes.

Who’s next? Felicity always looks good in autumn colors, and you have one new fabric that looks like a Felicity dress.

    1. Oh Marilyn,
I was going to take a picture and add the recipe for Apple Slump in my listing, but just now was reminded of it when I saw your comment. I would normally add it in and revise my listing, but since my photo hosting program has changed, I don’t want to mess up what I already have scheduled to go on tonight…sorry…I really wanted to use it…

Now I have a suggestion for a Colonial dress with Felicity modeling…I guess we’ll see…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Hi Jeanne – Now that I have a Nyssa of my own, I vote for Nyssa to get the next outfit! πŸ™‚

Still having issues with the emails – I seem to only get one every other day, (nothing going to my junk mail, either…) πŸ™ It was a little odd on Monday – I got an email for your Monday post, and clicking on the title took me to your website with the Monday post. But, when I used my bookmark for your website a little later that same day, your website was still showing the Saturday post, like the website had not updated to Monday yet, even though it was okay when I accessed thru email. It did eventually catch up. I had to use bookmark yesterday, 9/11/18, as I didn’t get an email. I think it just doesn’t like me. πŸ™‚

  12. HI Theresa,
…and now a vote for Nyssa… I’ll have to consider her too!!
You aren’t the only one who things are still messed up for…my sister just texted me and says her posts aren’t coming like they are supposed to either.
If you get to one of my website pages, you can always click on the BLOG tab on the left side, just under my header. When you do that, it brings up the most current post.
    Thank you Theresa,
    Blessings, Jeanne

  13. Well, that’s interesting… I received two posts today, one has “I Dream of Jeanne M” as the subject in my inbox and came through at 2:02 AM and the second has “Jeanne” as the subject and came through at 6:02 AM. For a few days it was just the ” I Dream…” one. Oh, well, at least they’re still coming through. πŸ™‚
Rebecca’s dress is just lovely and the bonnet as the perfect one to top it off. All the little details from the floral embroidery on the applique to the sleeve bows to the pleated ribbon on the bonnet are beautiful. I love dresses that are all dolled up like that and that’s why yours are so enjoyable to watch the construction of. I agree that this would be a difficult one to let go.
The recipe for Apple Slump sounds good. I have “The Little House Cookbook” from when I was a girl, so the first thing I though Rebecca would be making is “Bird’s Nest Pudding”.
As to who should be next, I agree with Marilyn that Felicity looks gorgeous in autumn colors and then maybe you could sneak a fall dress in for Kirsten. I think she gets neglected and I don’t recall ever seeing a fall dress for her since I found your blog.

    1. HI Laura,
I was hoping all the kinks were going away with my posts arrival for everyone, but apparently there are still some hiccups…crumb!!!
I’m glad you enjoy seeing me work on the dresses and then finally see the presentation….
Thank you for your sweet compliments. I really appreciate them.
Thanks for your vote for Felicity…she is a joy to sew for!
I’ll have to look back at my dresses for Fall and see if I have made any dresses for Kitsten. If not, I really should do a set for her soon.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  14. Sylvia G Jennings

Glad you liked my suggestion for dress. It certainly fits the title perfect. Glad you are able to get back to do what you love. Glad George is better and Mom is settled. Life is Good!

    1. HI Sylvia,
I had to look back in my posts to see who it was that suggested the name Autumn Splendor. Thanks for thinking of it! I think it’s a perfect name for this dress set.
Yes, life is very good around here…my hubby is good, my mom seems,to be good, and being back in my sewing room is very good!!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  15. Before I saw the suggestion everyone else made, I was thinking you might want to do a Julie dress for a modern switch up. I’m sure there are some great fabrics for a back to school dress for her or a babydoll top and bell bottoms.
