Todays post is going to be from the “Sofa Sisters!”

Hi everyone,

JUST A REMINDER:
The Civil War dress set, “Holiday Helper,” shown on Rebecca ends this evening on Ebay! If you’d like to check it out, please click the picture at the right side, or click HERE.

I don’t do this very often, but this weekend and this coming week, have, and are going to be more than I can handle and still write a blog post for maybe even a few days.

My hubby has 3 doctor’s appointments this week, I have a couple of dishes I committed to make for our church’s Student Thanksgiving Dinner, and of all things, something has happened to Reuben. His legs are paralyzed so he’s not able to even stand. He can’t go to the bathroom, and he’s been to the vet twice. We don’t know exactly what happened, but his spine is all inflamed and he’s like a rag doll… he can lift up his head for a little while but then has to put it back down. He has to have water brought to him and my hubby holds a plate with food on it for him to eat. Please keep him and my hubby in your prayers.

Here is a picture I took of Reuben in the yard. When we got back from the vet today, my hubby carried him to a spot in our yard and put him down. He let him lay there for a while. He couldn’t get up and move, and it’s the first time he’s ever been in the yard without a leash.

I “wanted” to write a post, but I just don’t feel like it today… so I’m hoping my “Sofa Sisters” can come to the rescue and talk amongst yourselves and make today a “chatty day!” Just someone start and then everyone else chime in or start a new subject to talk about.
I know Linda was having trouble getting my blog for some reason, but I re-subscribed and updated her information today and I’m hoping tomorrow she can join in again.

Well, I’m going to sign out and let you all share.

I’ll see you in a day or two…
Blessings, Jeanne

First of all, I see your dress has three bids on it already, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find a bidding war at some point! So that’s exciting.

But….I’m so sorry about Reuben. I hope the vet has some solutions for you. We’ve all gotten to “know” and love Reuben thru your pictures and stories, Jeanne, so I am praying for a good resolution for this, so you and George can enjoy having him for a while longer.

I read thru the comments on yesterday’s blog, and several mentioned the ceramic Christmas tree in that one picture. I have one, too, that my Aunt Linnea made for my folks many years ago (back when we were “all” doing ceramics–even my mother made a little piano/music box at the ceramics place where I went!). Anyway, after Daddy died, I took the ceramic tree home with me, and for the last few years, it’s been my only “tree”. Just didn’t have the energy to struggle with a real tree when Ron was needing me more and more, and of course last year I really didn’t have the heart to try for a real one. I did put the ceramic one up, though, and also a couple of my Christmasy Annalee dolls. I have quite a few of those, and alternate them from one year to the next–snowmen, elves, Santa and Mrs., etc. I haven’t done much entertaining for years, so any decorations I put up these days are fairly simple.

Thanks to everyone for the comments and well wishes about my foot. The doctor said it would probably be a month, maybe more, before I could wear a regular shoe on that foot; it is now coming up on 3 weeks, so it looks like she might be right. If I can manage a dress shoe (I don’t wear heels any more) for Sunday, I will be happy, as I just don’t feel “right” going to church in slacks! I have always worn skirts or dresses to church, and before this happened, I remember only one Sunday when I wore slacks–and it was only 25° that day! I had long underwear on, too!!

If the only tree you put up is a lighted ceramic tree, I’d say that’s wonderful. I have one of the large ones and it is quite a display in itself. And in truth if it weren’t for Sean I’d probably not have a big tree up either. I have a pre-lit tree that is heavy and the hinges for the branches can be dangerous. Sean started doing it years ago when David was having trouble with his knees and couldn’t do it. Now it has sort of become Sean’s job – as well as helping position the dining room table for the village and crawling under the table to plug in the cords.

I remember the days when I would not wear slacks to church or let my stepdaughters wear them either. While Andrea was growing up I always made her “Sunday” dresses so she never wore slacks either – until high school. I lost control of the situation then. Then I started looking around and many women were wearing slacks. Nice ones though. Now I see people coming to church in blue jeans and t-shirts. That would be my son and his family. Dionne gave away the ironing board that had been Sean’s years ago so nothing gets ironed these days and blue jeans and t-shirts don’t need ironing. But I will say they do wear the most wonderful inspirational t-shirts and there are a lot of nice ones out there so I guess I should be grateful for that. As for the heels, haven’t worn them in years.

    2. Hi Charlotte, I never got to comment to you yesterday. Took a pause and then never got to it. I’m glad that your foot is doing so much better.
I don’t feel right about going to church in pants either. If it’s super cold I wear tights under a skirt. I don’t wear heels anymore either. I much prefer flats.

  2. Oh, poor Reuben 😢 He is so adorable. I will certainly keep all of you in my prayers. I love our pets and animabibbles so much. It hurts so much when they are suffering. They need a lot of kisses and doting on days like this.

Well, I have not been perky.
Did I mention yesterday that I have some kind of tiny virus? (old nurses are the worst patients) It is nothing terrible, but I have a headache and a stuffy head and ugh…. my head!!! Yesterday I sewed one long seam assembling my Leaves quilt top… Almost done.
With all of the furniture at our new house now, I feel inclined to arrange or unload books or something, but I am just going slow. It is cold outside and kind of windy. I kind of like this weather but now I can’t go out even with my new big fat puffy coat. why??? because my head😫😨
Charlotte, I do not wear high heels either. Honestly, I was never good at walking in them. Fortunately, I never had any mishaps in those kind of shoes.

Here is a kind of sad but funny story. About 30 years ago, hubbs got some big government award for “saving the US government a bunch of money” hahahaha
It was a yearly event called Federal 100. Most ppl only get this one time, but my incredible hubbs got it two times. It is a weird dinner thing in Washington DC or once it was in Tysons Corner Virginia is some fancy hotel.
Anyway, this event was held at the National Building Museum just google that for images. Inside is a large space and a little “pond” in the middle of the room.
Now imagine a lot of tables in that space, hundreds maybe, and people drinking alcohol. quite early in the evening, a couple of high heeled wearing women walked right into that pond because it did not have any barriers. It was a shocking spectacle and I was much younger and thought it was funny to see soaking wet people dressed all fancy clamoring out of that pond.

I am sure everyone is already decorating up a storm for Christmas. I am really not on fire to decorate this year. I feel like driving down to Richmond to see my grand girls Sarah and Lauren. My other daughter lives just 30 minutes down the road with her husband. We have not seen them in 4 years because her husband is very stubborn. They have 4 adorable children.
Have I spilled enough silliness this morning?

I hope every one of you dearies has a very nice day, perhaps some sunshine.
My head feels like it is filled with helium 🥹

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

I don’t have to be young to think your pond story is funny. I can’t imagine being so oblivious to your surroundings that you walk into a water display. But I also can’t imagine drinking so much to not see it in the first place. Although I would suggest that something be put around the pond to keep this from happening since I doubt it was a singular occurrence. But it reminds me of the women who drove her car into a lake because her GPS told her to make a turn. That situation could have been worse than it was but I can’t imagine driving toward a large body of water and not seeing it for what it was.

      1. Yes, It is not a haha funny story, I agree. I just could not imagine the National Builders Museum that probably hosts many functions, would have that pond there. It has been many years, but I think they could have emptied it and put the bar in there or the desserts table?
It was so long ago, and yes, hubbs and I were so young

    2. Hi Rosemary, I hope you feel better soon. Hot tea with honey and ginger helps.
I did laugh at the pond story. I recall seeing a YouTube video when someone was filming something else and caught a lady in a suit and high heels texting on her phone walk straight into a fountain.

  3. Hello, everyone. Gosh. It has been a LONG time since I posted, and I admit, I have not been faithful about keeping up. I did hear about Susette which was sad news. When I saw dear Rueben’s picture today as I scrolled down, I opened this up as I just love dogs so much and remember when Reuben was “new” and how he loved Rebecca. So dear Jeanne, my heart pours out to you, George, and that sweet laddie; I am so very, very sorry about the rough times for you and all the “sofa sisters”. Getting old is an adventure. Fortunately for me, my youngest son just introduced me to THC gummies to soothe my anxiety.

We are moving back from CO to NH in less than a month. These past couple months I have been packing and my auction ladies have helped me sell lots of dolls and tons and tons of outfits. Still a lot going with me, but before we put our house on the market….and it sold before it hit the market…our realtor told me I needed to get the dolls out of the house. They spook too many people. Well, I got them all in their boxes and out in storage, but brother, do I ever miss them. Unfortunately, they and their special room need to be last priority at our new home. We are moving to the community where my mother spent her last 8 years so happily. It’s non-profit, has independent, assisted, dementia, and 24/7 skilled nursing in your own home and on 97 acres. Our oldest son is but a mile away. Sure wish we had done this last year, because this past year has not been a kind one for this old body. But. This will all pass and with luck, and THC, old Sal will be settled with the hubby in a few months.

Rosemary mentioned Christmas. I have our new artificial much smaller tree marked for the front of the moving van. Once I get our beds made up, the kitchen in somewhat working order, that tree is going up.

Charlotte, bless you for your sartorial standards still. I am still the Queen of LL Bean and Duluth and don’t need any heels for them, thank Heaven.

I wish you all good health and good (or better) times. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you all. You are a great group of gals.

    Sally in CO, soon, NH

    1. New Hampshire, how wonderful. I helped my parents make the move from Maryland to Virginia in 2013. They moved into an Erickson Community called Ashby Ponds. It sounds a lot like your new living situation. I am very happy for both of you. It will be so great t be near your son too.
I wish you great ease and success in your move

    2. Hi Sally,
Of course I see you on FB, but it’s so nice to see you here as well. It sounds like your new home will be lovely.

    3. Barbara in SE Texas

Sally, I have been wondering where you were. We haven’t been to CO since before COVID, so I gave up the thought of scheduling a visit. Neither hubby nor I are big on long drives anymore and since our daughter left CO for ME a few years ago, we haven’t had a reason for heading that way. Our son was going to move to CO once but decided to stay here instead so I at least have one offspring nearby.

I believe you were the one who put me onto Cottontail Doll Designs. I’ve been hooked ever since. Love dealing with Erin. Most of my RRFF dolls have Christmas dresses from her shop. Makes quite a display for the holidays.

I don’t understand but acknowledge the thing about people and dolls. Other than David, who loves all his dolly daughters, the rest of my family thinks I’m already on the skids for my dolly addiction. You’d think I have a room full of Chucky dolls the way they hesitate to walk in that room. Even my new daughter-in-law. Their reaction is scarier than the dolls could ever be. They actually should see some of the really scary ones I see in my “Dolls” magazine.

So good to know all is well and will be praying for a safe move for you. Moving at our tender age can’t be anything but stressful. David keeps talking about us moving in two or three years to WVA where my one sister lives. I’m saying perish the thought. We’ve been here 35 years and haven’t gone through stuff during the years. I’m too old to relocate – I keep telling myself. Time will tell.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Barbara, I too don’t understand how people are creeped out by dolls! Anything that is misused, falling apart or just plain messy might be creepy, but I don’t see that with any dolls here on the blog. They are just smiling, happy children! What is creepy about that?

    4. Linda in St. Louis

Oh, Sally! You are so lucky to be moving to New Hampshire! What a beautiful place ! I would love to go there or a vacation!

    5. Charlotte Trayer

Sally, it’s so good to hear from you again! I wish you Godspeed as you move to your new home in NH. This community sounds really ideal, but it will be quite a change for you! I’m sure you will want to at least unpack a couple of dolls right off, to make your new place seem more “home”!

  4. Joy in northern CA

I am so disturbed about Reuben. Poor little pup. I wonder if he needs a doggie chiropractor? Although, it sounds like some kind of inflammation that may need antibiotics. I’m sure that you have tried Googling to see what might be happening? And absolutely no problem with your blog absence. Perhaps, you can find another church member to stand in for you to make those dinner dishes. I think you need a break with the traveling and doctor appointments for George.

How fun to hear that Charlotte, also has a ceramic tree. When I was at the other house recently, I picked up a cute ceramic object. It has a lid and may be a jelly bowl? But, I’m not sure of if’s use. It seems too large to be a sugar bowl and doesn’t have a creamer anyway. I turned it over and there written on the bottom it said, “Made by BC. That was my mother. I can remember the ceramics phase, so I guess my mother indulged as well. However, she didn’t make one of those ceramic trees that I really like. I also remember a set of mugs she made. White with red polka dots. There may be one left up there some place.

Unfortunately, I don’t see a post from Linda. I would definitely try what Laura mentioned yesterday about cleaning the cache etc. It really helps boost your computer. Maybe someone else has an idea to help?

We keep going back and forth on appliances around here and are still undecided. And then, I figured out what all has to be moved to get old appliances out and new ones installed. Not to mention all of the dirt under the old refrigerator, I’m sure and behind the stove if we decide on a new one. And then, we store things on top of the current refrigerator. All of the things in the cabinet about the stove would have to be moved as well. China etc. Because the new microwave has to be bolted to that shelf above the stove. And then there are the countertops around the stove filled with well, my collections. As to the dishwasher, that means clearing out the whole cabinet under the sink where I keep cleaning products. All of this and Thanksgiving is next week. And the most important, we will need to clear the refrigerator including the stuffed freezer. Very crazy time to even think about this because I’m now bringing three items to turkey day. A fruit platter, broccoli cheese casserole, and Jeanne’s corn dish with a few moderations. Everyone loves her corn dish. So, I need a kitchen all put back together by next Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday is out as I have my eye appointment and will be useless. So, lots to consider and it gives me an instant headache. Certainly hope that others have a much more stressless day planned.

Sun is peeking out so looks like the rain is over. Yay. We didn’t get in a walk yesterday. Too much going on and then more rain.

Sending positive thoughts to Reuben, George, and Jeanne. Hope that we get a report back on Reuben’s progress today.

    1. Continued best wishes and good luck with the appliance choices, Joy! and clean up and installation.
I do not like shopping for appliances.
Personally, I do like some Whirlpool appliances
We have Samsung now, probably the builder’s options and they are just okay. I do not like the refrigerator. Honestly, I miss my Whirlpool refrigerator at our old house.

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

I have to get a new bed this weekend and I’ve been putting that off because of what it entails to get rid of the old and bring in the new. Sounds like you have that on steroids. For years we’ve had a sleep number bed but it’s an older model and the pressure tends to change with the temp in the room. These days my body does not like that and we think that’s a lot of my problem. So I have to go “try out” beds and then if I get one and it’s still not right they will exchange it. I hope I get it right the first time. I pretty much know what I need and I don’t want to have to do it again. Sean and Dionne did that. They got what they thought was perfect but it wasn’t so they exchanged it and got one that really has been perfect. We are going to give our sleep number bed to Jason and Stephanie. I just hope they remember to pay their electric bill regularly.

A reply to your comment yesterday. The rowing machine is great but walking has always been my favorite exercise, even though there’s a lot of time here when it’s too hot to even think about walking. I did another half mile yesterday with my Rollator. I’ll be glad when I have more time under my belt because it does stiffen me up a bit since I’ve just started doing it. I already see good things though. Like getting out in the sun and fresh air which the rowing machine is not good for. Before my injury I used to walk the mile track three times around. Now I’m glad when the half mile is over.

      1. Joy in northern CA

All I can say is good for you! Sometimes, it is pretty hard for us to get out and walk, but afterwards we feel so much better. 🙂

    4. Charlotte Trayer

Joy, I’m wondering if that ceramic object might be a candy dish? When I was doing ceramics (early 70s) there were several styles of covered candy dishes available to make.

  5. I’m so sorry that little Reuben is having a problem. I sure hope they can get to the bottom of it and help him. I love all animals, creatures and it always makes me sad when one of them is hurting or is having a problem. Please keep us posted on little Ruben and I hope George’s appointments go well too.

You have a lot on your plate Jeannie, so be sure and take good care of yourself.

I’ve been recovering from my heart ablation and doing pretty well. I’m just a little tired at times and I’m trying to make sure I don’t lift or do strenuous things that I shouldn’t be doing right now. In a week or so, I’ll be back to normal and I’m looking forward to putting up our tree and Christmas decorations.
After Christmas, I will be having surgery done on my right wrist, So before that happens, I’ll have to get all my Christmas decorations put away and prepare prepared for that because I am told I will be wearing a cast for about a month after.
It seems like this year going and going into next year. I have had a few health issues run in to each other. Hopefully soon, it’ll all be taken care of.

In Charlotte, I’m glad that your foot‘s getting better. It seems like our extremities can be very vulnerable to injuries. I think it’s a good idea to wear your comfortable shoes and nothing fancy with heels.

And Elizabeth, I hope you feel better as well. Nothing like having a cold drag on -so take care..

  6. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Goodness, so many having troubles, starting with Ruben and George, and Jeanne is trying to keep everything going, including the Thanksgiving food. I do hope she will have a chance to keep us informed.

Charlotte.s foot is getting better, but no church shoes.
    Rosemary’s head is killing her.
Sally is having to go through moving.
Joy is swallowed up in appliances and Thanksgiving.
Paula is getting over her heart ablation..
And I am just getting ready for an Oyster roast party, feeding 2 sons who are busy working on their jobs on their computers. ( I do love them!) I hope they will have time to get the oysters washed, and put out tables, chairs, etc tomorrow. I have cooking to do, cheese grits, and a 9/13 cake dish, and lots of snacks for the guests.
Still I am so sorry for my sofa sisters who are dealing with things a lot worse than that I. Prayers going up for each of you and Jeanne, George, and Ruben.

    1. Joy in northern CA

Well, that sums it up so nicely. I hope you get some pics of the oyster roast as I’ve never heard of it. Here we have crab feeds. Love crab. 🙂
And don’t work too hard. Sounds like you will have lots of guests.

  7. So very sorry to hear about little Reuben, Jeanne. I clearly remember when you got him and Scruffy who you had first.
Are you certain he wasn’t bitten by a tick? There are other causes, and x-rays or an MRI can help diagnose. I’m always sad when an animal is hurting. Don’t worry about us here.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

I was thinking about something like a tick bite too. I don’t know about Illinois but where my daughter lives in Maine they have deer ticks and they are very dangerous. I always hate to see animals and children hurting because they don’t understand what is happening to them and it can be so scary for them.

  8. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ

Jeanne I am so sorry about Rueben, sending you virtual hugs from Sam and I. I hope you find out what is wrong.
Charlotte, I am so glad your foot is getting better. I used to wear only skirts for church but nowadays that has gone by the board. I practically live in trousers these days anyway and only wear skirts when it is really hot. I haven’t worn heels for years and never the 6 inch heels so many seem to wear these days!
Rosemary, I really hope you feel better soon. These viruses are no fun.
Linda, I hope you can read this (I think you said you could read but not comment) we really miss you on the sofa.
Jeanne I am sure we can get along without you for a few days. I am glad you had such a good time with your sister. Don’t wear yourself out too much. You always seem to be busy, and you know what they say, “if you want something done ask a busy person”. Sometimes we have to learn to say “no”.
    I’ll see you all tomorrow

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

One thing about wearing slacks is it makes it easier to get dressed if you don’t have to wear hose. I used to work in the legal department and we had to dress up and wear heels (if we could) every day. But I was much younger then and putting on panty hose was easier. These days I tend to wear dresses and skirts in the summer here because having bare legs is no problem when the daily temps are in the 90s. In the winter if I’m feeling flexible, I might wear tights under my skirt or dress, otherwise it’s slack and knee hi hose or trouser socks.

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh Charlotte, I wear slacks to church all the time! I do have some pretty skirts and a nice summer maxi dress, which I do wear sometimes, but slacks are the go to for me for church or capris as It is quite casual there and if you wear a skirt, they might think you were being “uppity”! What a difference from years ago, when we also had to wear hats or veils! But no sports clothes for me, no logos for various causes either!

  9. Linda in St. Louis

Well, this has been an adventure, to say the least! I have no idea what or how I got back on but at least I’m on!

Oh my, Sally! We certainly haven’t heard from you for a long time! Nice to hear that you are going to be moving to a smaller place and closer to family! Be sure to keep in touch with us, OK?

Sissy, you actually eat oysters? I can’t imagine, but to each her own! I like plain fish, and the fanciest fish I will eat are shrimp! No clams, lobsters, salmon, crab legs, crawdads, etc. Just not my cup of tea! Our neighbros had a crawdad boil in their back yard for Mother’s Day! Oh my, what a mess that was! They are from Louisiana, so that’s what they do there, but still!

Joy, with your appliance delimna, it will be interesting to hear what you decide to do. Why do you have to get it done before Thanksgiving? Maybe you should do it afterwards.

Rosemary, I hope you get relief from that headache soon!

I have to stop writing now, since I want to get some leaves raked before it gets too chilly. More later, but I’m back!

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

I’m with you on the oysters. My mother used to make oyster stew and I would put the crackers in the broth but no oysters for me. That was in PA but here in Texas oysters are part of the culture along the coast. We have oyster bars all over the place. However, I do like clams, crab legs, shrimp and I love lobster. Like salmon if it is smoked. Crawfish are another cultural thing here adopted from the Louisiana bayous but while they taste fine, they are usually much too much work to eat, especially when you are really hungry. Mostly folks just sit around with their adult beverages with a pile of crawfish, corn on the cob and red potatoes in front of them laughing and chatting and basically enjoying the camaraderie. It’s more a social thing than a dining thing but it is a big thing during crawfish season.

    2. Joy in northern CA

Oh, I’m so glad that you are back on. Yay!
The reason for the appliance rush is the huge discounts/sales right now. It’s an incredible amount of savings. We may go ahead and buy if we can figure out the refrigerator and have them installed after Thanksgiving. Can’t get the handles on the Refrigerator we like to match those on the stove/microwave. I know, crazy. 🙂

  10. Barbara in SE Texas

Jeanne I am so sorry to hear about Reuben. Hopefully the vet will have some idea what to do about this. Prayers for you and George that his appointments go well. You have a lot on your plate right now and I am so sorry to hear that. Please take care of yourself. We sofa sisters are never at a loss for words so we will hang out and keep the sofa warm for your return.

David is on his way to the ENT doctor at the moment. He has regained some hearing in the ear with the punctured eardrum so hopefully that’s good news. And getting the okay for hearing aids will be great. He has had hearing problems for so long that I will have to get used to him not saying “what” whenever I start to speak.

Supposed to get some rain Thursday, but then we were supposed to get some of that rain that Joy is getting. We haven’t had a drop and things are getting way too dry around here. If it weren’t for the humidity, it would most likely be worse. Still no really cool weather in sight. The weatherman last evening said we should be getting a cold spell around Thanksgiving – maybe. Too far out to tell at the moment as the pattern could change. I need to stop watching the weather. Keep getting my hopes up for rain and cool and then nothing.

  11. Linda in St. Louis

Jeanne, I haven’t said anything about Rueben on the blog, but you and I have been emailing, so you know that I am concerned and hope the little guy gets better. I’m sure he is quite surprised that his legs don’t work. The sad thing with our pets, is they don’t understand what is happening.

  12. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, I will continue my prayers for you and George and add Reuben to my list.

  13. Elizabeth in Texas

Hello, ladies! So much activity going on in everyone’s daily life!

Jeanne, I too hope your little Reuben be okay soon. It is so hard for us when our sweet furry friends are not doing well. My daughter and I have four cats now what with the new little addition of Finley a few months ago. A friend of my daughter works in construction and he found two little kittens abandoned and living under a porch construction area in Port Aransas….well, he texted my daughter with photos and wondered if we might want to take one (he loves cats but couldn’t have another one since he’s renting) So she and I talked it over and decided to take one. I think I forgot how exuberant a tiny kitten can be…it’s like having a toddler in day care!! He is into everything, toys all over the place, and can run through the house as though someone set off a fire-cracker behind him!!!

He is sweet and loving when he sits still or takes a nap. He is what I would call a “mutt”….he has feet as long as a jack-rabbit, his tall legs make me think of Secretariat and his tail must be 18 inches long….it is the longest tail I’ve ever seen on a cat. (I’ll try to send a photo if Jeanne wants to post it!) He has been to the vet for a first check-up and had the first batch of shots, and he is due for his neutering operation early December.

I keep telling him to mind his “p’s and q’s” around the other three cats! Daughter’s big black cat named Boo, has let him know….don’t even think about messing with me! He does it with a certain look and sometimes a hiss and Finley backs up and walks away. The oldest cat is “Mama” and she is on a downhill course and pretty much wants to sleep a lot….doesn’t really play anymore, but still enjoys having her head softly rubbed and scratched. We are protective of her, and Finley has learned to leave her alone. But he will nudge her away from her food dish occasionally to finish her food….so we watch meal times. Mama doesn’t want to tangle so she’ll just walk away.

Now my cat Izzy, an overweight tabby will roll and tangle with Finley….often Finley will leap-frog on top of Izzy to get things started. I keep telling Izzy to go sit on top of him and let him know who is boss….and bigger! I had adopted a 8 month old kitten years ago (they told me the cat was a year old! Not.) and I remember the energy level of a young kitten. They do slow down as they grow into adult cats…..we are not there yet!

I haven’t been posting as often but do read the postings of others. Been dealing with ENT Dr. and my loss of hearing in left ear, had a crown put on a molar a few weeks ago and yesterday had a different molar pulled (under anesthesia), so today is somewhat better in the pain and swelling dept. The Oral surgeon called me yesterday evening to see how I was doing and he suggested I try steeping a tea bag in water, then squeeze the water out of the tea bag once it cooled and place that on the empty tooth socket, compressing with mouth closed, for 20-30 minutes to help stop the bleeding. He said to repeat the whole thing again if needed. Evidently, from what I have read, the tannins in black or green tea help constrict the blood vessels and stop the bleeding. It worked! The tooth area finally stopped bleeding! Used Earl Gray tea bag first and then used a green-mint tea bag for a second application. Made my mouth taste better! And today I am able to do warm salt-water rinses. And we are having scrambled eggs and pancakes for dinner tonight!

So I am losing some craft/sewing time in my art room due to health issues but am staying positive and will try to make up for lost time soon. Will need to get a move on….Christmas is around the corner!
