More Fall dresses on my dolls from the Archives…

Hi everyone,
Just a quick addition to today’s pictures. A few of you suggested sliding Natasha’s wig closer down on her forehead, and that was a pretty easy fix…

Sissy asked if her braids could be changed so they weren’t flaring out to the sides… She said hers used to hang straight down…so this picture is for you, Sissy! This was the best I could do…

If anyone thinks the tarp my hubby covered up the Morning Glories with the other night, salvaged them… you have more faith than me… I think they are toast, but who knows… we’ll see…

It sure was a pretty day, but the Morning Glories look like stringy soggy spinach! :o)

One more thing… Linda sent some pictures and you’ll see them tomorrow! They are wonderful!
~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my past Fall dresses on a variety of dolls. I’m only using pictures taken on dolls in September, October and November. Here are some more…
a
WOW! Another day for you to scrutinize all the pictures on your favorite dolls! I hope you enjoy them.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
    Lots to look at again today, Jeanne! My favorite is the one for TenPing. I love that little pleated skirt! Love the Ruby Reds outfit, too, as well as Felicity’s pale sage green outfit (#7 on the “parade”).
    Interesting about the names of your dogs, Paula. My best friend’s youngest sister plays with her dogs’ names, too. She’s always had goldens, and her current one is Corey (her maiden name), who she often refers to as Corey Corkalini! Now I don’t do that, but our dogs did have middle names! The dachshund mix was Molly Jane, and the shepherd/husky mix was Rex Tristan (which means “noisy king”!) Most of my d nolls have middle names, too.
    Rosemary, that was quite a dance party you posted the link to!! They were so in sync, and practically robotic in their movements! Must have been a lot of fun to do–and a lot of practice, also!
    Oh yes, Natasha looks better with her wig up farther, Jeanne! I think there was too much forehead showing before, and the braids down straighter looks so cute too! Perfect fix!
    The poor morning glories have had their day, it seems! On to next year!! But what caught my eye was how cleaned up your yard looks! Before, your pictures showed it covered with leaves, and now they arenโ€™t there! Good job, George!
    Oh my gosh, all those darling outfits you are showing today! I absolutely love that first one, one on Ten Ping! Those colors and that pleated skirt just hit all the right spots! There is no way to tell you my favorites, because they all are just perfect and so beautifully done! You always get everything right! I notice that in some of the older outfits, you show a background, maybe one of the Scenes and Settings books that you have or had?
    I am amazed when I look at the previous dayโ€™s blog, how many more conversations there are after I am done for the day and donโ€™t see them until early morning! While I would love to chime in later in the day, I usually put down my iPad by 7 in the evening, so miss all the stories and comments. Did anyone see the Northern Lights? I did not because I have too many trees blocking my view, but the pictures I have seen on Facebook were beautiful.
    Iโ€™m so glad that Laura is back, and Paula is doing well, (or is it Paula?). I will lose my comments if I go back to check, so Iโ€™m guessing here. Also good to hear that everyone is doing well, and so good to hear from Anne. That holiday of yours sounds like fun, Anne, but yes, as we get older, it is hard to keep up with it.
      Apparently the lights here were spectacular. (They are Aurora Australis here, Southern Lights). We couldn’t see them in Christchurch as it was still raining, it rained pretty well all day.
  3. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
    Jeanne, thank you for fixing Natasha’s hair, it is just right now!
    All your outfits are such fun to see again, we never tire of them. You are such a beautiful seamstress !
    Wow, Rosemary, that was some dancing going on, and so many dancers! I wonder where that came from! Thank you for sharing.
    Well, I called my older brother last night. He is the one that is 90 and whose granddaughter was the one who got married a couple of moths ago. Any way, I called him because his daughter, my niece, and her family are going to go to her brother’s house in FL for Thanksgiving! She has had Thanksgiving for us for years! When I asked my brother where he and his wife are going to Thanksgiving he said, “WE are coming to your house!!” What !!! I thought I had quit having Thanksgiving and Peyton doesn’t want to cook turkeys any more on the Weber!! So we have agreed to find a ready cooked turkey and I will do the rest. He was very worried about how to have gravy without cooking the turkey, but I told him I could cook up some turkey wings to make gravy.
    Well, that is what happens when you are the sister.
    We are off to the Y again. Will check on Y’all later.
    1. Joy in northern CA
      I’ll tell you, good old Costco, always has gravy available around Thanksgiving, and it is delicious. Our daughter has been using it, and I honestly can’t tell the difference from it and that cooked, stirred, seasoned etc. from a bird cooked at home. They also have fresh mashed potatoes that are excellent as well especially, if some goodies like sour cream etc. are mixed in with them. Yum. ๐Ÿ™‚
      1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
        Sounds good, Joy, but we don’t have Costco here. It is ok I am just to cooking.
  4. Dorothy in PA and the World
    Dear Jeanne, I was happy to see the lovely Jane Austen dress that I won in the parade of dolls today! Emily Louise was looking over my shoulder and squealing, “Mama, look!”
    She and I are going to a Jane Austen birthday tea in December. This year marks her 250th birthday so there are celebrations going on all over the world. I will be sure to send you a photo.
    1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
      Dorothy, Jane Austen was my mom’s favorite writer. She read all the books when she was a child,as they came out. She had a specially set of really nice books and she told me that she was a fan before they became popular, LOL! I love the books and I have all the movies, starting with the first one, I think, it was Pride and Prejudice and the women were all dressed like Southern belles with huge skirts. It was about the same time as Gone with the Wind, LOL! I have the newer ones now and my fave is the one with Colin Firth. My mom had two sets of those, fearing one might run out.
      1. Dorothy in PA and the World
        Dear Sissy, it is always nice to meet another “Janeite!” I have seen at least one movie of each of the books. I like Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion best. I cannot get into Mansfield Park or Northanger Abbey.
        The P&P version to which you refer is the 1940s film staring Sir Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. The costumes are so “poofy,” and not at all period appropriate, as you point out.
        And, of my goodness, Colin Firth, I could stare at him all day. He is so handsome. I agree with you. I think that the 1995 TV series, in which he starred with Jennifer Ehle, was the best.
        I did not like the later 2005 movie. I just could not see Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet. I also thought that the behavior which characters displayed was not true to social practices at that time.
        Did you ever see the 2003 teen movie, What A Girl Wants with Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth? It’s kind of like P&P.
        1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
          I agree with you on all of it, Dorothy! And yes I saw the film you mentioned, but I have forgotten a lot of it. I love anything Colin Firth is in, though.
  5. just ONE over night freeze and it is all over. Sad.
    On my old property, oh some 30 years ago, I bought two Pink Camellia bushes, they were small and I placed them in the sunniest rather driest spot in our back yard. Well, every year they blossom in late October and November, and sometimes the blossoms last all the way into January. They have the most delicate pink blossoms. I did not know anything about Camellias so this was a surprise, especially Camellias in deep snow. I love those bushes. I will miss them. Their boldness to bloom on the coldest of days and the blossoms hold on tight in heavy wind. I went to the old house to clean up the back yard a little and looking at those bushes pushing out their first blossoms was kind of a bittersweet moment.
    It has been windy and chilly here in Northern Virginia. Yesterday I extended a new garden in the front of this new house and planted about 18 tulip bulbs. My latex free gloved fingers were very cold. I have 10 more bulbs but I will wait.
    Today we are taking Princess to the Cardiologist for an echocardiogram, for suspected murmur, okay….
    Oh Jeanne, all of the dresses. My goodness these are beauties, again I can not pick a favorite but the red and yellow, and the blue dresses and the green dresses are my most preferred ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜
    Busy today and tomorrow. I will come and read the comments later today.
    Tomorrow the movers are bringing the big stuff, china cabinet, several book cases and the dining room table and our dressers. We have been sort of camping for 5 months, but at present (before the delivery) we have plenty of chairs and bins.
    Happy Thursday today dear ones
    1. Joy in northern CA
      Have you through about transplanting your favorite camellia? I understand that they are easy to move and survive well. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Hope your kitty is okay.
      1. Hi Joy, No I had not thought of that. They were small when we got them…. and now they are huge, hardy and gorgeous, so I should not disturb them….. but that is a good thought. ….OR I could hunt down some new ones.
        At our new home, we have certainly downsized in both home and property. It is okay. The builder did give us some plantings that I do not really like. Perhaps I will seriously look into those camellia/s wow, they are tough and happy!
        Princess likes a good adventure but this one was much longer than her patience, so she was happy to get bk into her carrier and bust out of that “medical” house of torture.
        She has a murmur but nothing frightening.
        1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
          Rosemary, I would love to see a photo of your Camellias! I wonder if they are Pink Perfection? That is my favorite. I have several Camellias and love them all, but that one is the best. I hope you can find some for your new place.
          Glad Princess is ok.
        2. Hi Rosemary, very happy to hear Princess is okay. My one kitty has a murmur as well. The video was great.
        3. Joy in northern CA
          I finally had time to check out that dance number you had yesterday. Loved it. And glad to hear that the murmur is manageable. Our neighbor’s dog has one. She does too. Both are doing fine.
          1. Barbara in SE Texas
            My grandmother had rheumatic fever when she was a teenager. It left her with a heart murmur. She had six children and was heading for her 83rd birthday when she passed away. Watching TV one night her heart just stopped. Up till then she did great.
  6. Joy in northern CA
    Natasha’s braids look so much nicer and the wig placement too. Love that wig color. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Sorry about the frosted blossoms, but I’m sure that they will return next year.
    Always so much fun to see the dress parade. I love the polka dot jumper with the orange top on the Kay Wiggs girl. That would be so fun to replicate with a red top in a Ruby Red size for the holidays. And that sweater and pleated skirt outfit would be fun to remake as well. I like them with the tights too. ๐Ÿ™‚
    We had over an inch of rain last night and more to come today. A few big leaves even made it to the front porch, so I’m sure that there will be a lot of clean up needed tomorrow. It is supposed to rain all day today. I’m sure that we will get more giant mushrooms growing in the lawn after this deluge.
  7. More lovely dresses today. Once again my favorites are on the PC/AG girls. I especially love the first green two piece one on Felicity with the lace fichu as well as the next one in line. Then Kirsten’s is very sweet as is the last one on Rebecca.
  8. Anne Coldron in Christchurch NZ
    Jeanne I enjoyed your trip down memory lane again. I remember some of the dresses but there are still quite a few I haven’t seen before. Have you ever counted up how many you have made over the years?
    Two weeks ago I had to take my cat, Luna to the vet as she was having severe breathing difficulties. (I might have told you this already). I had to take her back for a check up and she had lost weight. It was sort of understandable as she wasn’t eating when she was so sick but the vet wanted to see her yesterday to check her out and she has lost more weight! She wanted her to have a blood test so I said to go ahead. She came back later to say that Luna wasn’t having a bar of it! In contrast when she was sick they gave her an X-ray and didn’t even need to have a sedative! Anyway we have an appointment on Monday and medication to calm her which she has the night before and then just before we go. It cost me $900 last time and the blood test will be $400. The vet thinks it might be a thyroid problem which will be an ongoing cost of around $90-100 a month. Sam and Kai both love Luna so have promised to help if she does need regular medication. I must say it has made me grateful for NZ Health. I have had two blood tests the last couple of weeks and they cost me nothing!
    The weather has changed again so it will be 24C today and sunny (about 75F) so the show organisers will be very happy. There is another rain front coming through though, hope it disappears by Monday as there is an International cricket match here in ChCh then. Today I plan to get some more plants, mainly flowers this time, and plant them up then hopefully I can get Sam to clean up the deck so I can enjoy the flowers. It is one of those jobs which is for ‘tomorrow’! Either that or she does it and then she has more space to put stuff down on and it looks just as messy as before.
    Bye now All, have a good day
    1. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast
      I am so sorry about your Luna, Anne. I know how your feel because years ago one of my toy fox Terriers got cancer. The meds were so expensive that I had to quit my maid. I was still working and she came in twice a month. When my dog Lolly finally had to be put down, my younger son buried her for me in the back yard where I lived in Florida. He wrapped her in her blanket and also added her food bowl. I have had too many to have to be put down, but they were really old and sick.I hope your Luna will feel better.
    2. Linda in St. Louis
      Oh Anne, I am so sorry about Luna. Tell me about a cat who doesnโ€™t cooperate at vetโ€™s or when you are trying to give them medicine! I have had two like that, and scars to prove it! Ours were too far gone with cancer and diabetes, so we had to put them down, since there was no hope for recovery, and what kind of life is that for an animal who doesnโ€™t understand? I have no more animals, much as I love them, but I simply canโ€™t go through doing that ever again.
      iโ€™m jealous over your health insurance! You are so lucky, to live where you do, and not have this health insurance nightmare we are going through! Your vet bills are quite enough, but if it helps Luna, well worth it.
    3. Joy in northern CA
      Don’t know if you have Costco in NZ, but here, Costco also has pet meds in the pharmacy. Most of what pets are given are also drugs for humans. So much cheaper there. So sorry about the high pet doctor bills. They are very high here as well.
  9. Barbara in SE Texas
    Another wonderful fashion slideshow. I always love that sweet little outfit on Ten Ping. I would like very much to see a tutorial on making those kinds of skirts. Maybe sometime when you’re at a loss of something to blog about. I love the outfits on the Kaye Wiggs girls. But all the outfits are wonderful, and it was fun seeing many of them again.
    Natasha’s wig fix was a good one. Hard to believe but it actually made her look cuter. So sorry about your morning glories. If they’re anything like mine, they’ll be back. But mine are the wild variety and I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t.
    About Camellias. I really thought they were purely a southern flower. Hadn’t thought of them surviving in colder areas.
    I found some amazing backgrounds for Ellowyne. Think Barbie backgrounds for 16″ dolls. They are amazing. They come from China so it takes awhile to arrive but I have several and use them for all my dolls. I plan on making some clothes for Ellowyne soon and photograph them using these backgrounds. I found them on eBay by putting in background/backdrop photography for dolls. Also, Erin at Cottontails makes some of her backgrounds and she could maybe tell you what to do. Your yard makes such a beautiful backdrop and that way you could use them indoors too.
    Rosemary, I took dancing as an adult for years during the time Andrea and Sean were taking dancing lessons. I never got to do it growing up and always wanted to so I felt blessed to be able to do that. But I never did anything like the dance in the video. Amazing.
    Anne, your Show Days sounds like our County Fair here. Since our county is still very rural, our County Fair is pretty much like the old days with sewing, quilting, and all kinds of food competitions. Plus the 4-H animal competitions and a rodeo. We used to go when the children were small so they could see the animals and ride the rides. Then when they were grown David and I went a few years by ourselves. Today we don’t go for the reason you said. We don’t do crowds anymore.
    David has an ENT appointment next week. We will get a verdict on his eardrum puncture to see about repairs. He also needs approval to get his hearing aids. They have come so far in hearing aids it’s amazing. They program the hearing aids to the needs for each ear to sort of “fill up the gaps”. His hearing loss is different in each ear. I can’t wait to see the results.
    Hurray!! After 35 years I now have two matching garage doors once again. When we moved here in 1990 we had two matching garage doors with handles on the outside (house built before garage-door openers). We were here only about a month when a kid from down the street ran into one of the doors with something he was riding (can’t remember what now). We had to get a new garage door but went with one without a handle since we had a garage door opener. We intended to replace the other side with a matching door soon. In the meantime we had to replace the one we replaced after a few years so a new one still wasn’t bought for the other side. When David decided to put the old door on the new building for the lawn tractor garage because it has an outside handle, we finally bought the new door we needed for years. They say your mind gets used to seeing thing so even something out of place seems normal after a while but that doesn’t work for me. I tolerated the mismatched doors for years. I noticed when we drove in the driveway after lunch today that the doors now matched and my mind was at ease. David and Sean were astounded that it had bothered me so much. I thought they knew I am big on things matching.
    1. Joy in northern CA
      Oh, what a very happy garage door replacement story. So glad for you that it is finally fixed. ๐Ÿ™‚
