Hi everyone and Happy Friday to you!
I remembered we are supposed to have the last GIVEAWAY today for Anne’s wonderful sweaters she knitted. This last sweater is the black one… It’s coal black, but I overexposed one of my pictures so you can see what they look like better. They will fit the 14.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friends or the 14″ American Girl Wellie Wishers dolls.
If you’d like to try and win this sweater, let me know in the comments below or send me an email before midnight, Illinois Central Time zone! I’ll put your name in the drawing and let you know tomorrow who won! Thank you again Anne, for all the work you did on them! We have enjoyed them… especially the ladies who’ve won one! :o)
Sometimes black yarn is hard to see, so I overexposed a picture of the sweater so you can see the details… just remember it is black as night!
Here is some GOOD NEWS! I got Chrissa’s Winter Coat set finished and listed on Ebay! YAY for Jeanne!
You can click the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE and be taken to the auction on Ebay!
We went outside and took a few pictures… Chrissa is such a pretty doll and her blue eyes looked fabulous in the natural light.
Next up… Paula’s She Shed video!!! Kristoffer came over today and helped me get it loaded onto my blog. It was TOO technical for me to know how to do! It is 1 minute and 39 seconds long, so you may have to hit the arrow in the middle of the picture, let it buffer all the way across the screen and then watch it. If you let it go across first, it won’t be stopping and starting as you watch it.
This is what Paula said about her She Shed…
Hi Jeanne,
I wasn’t sure if down the road you might need something else to put on your blog, so I thought I would send you the video of my “ She shed.” I call it “The Scottish Highland.”
It is a bonus room upstairs and I was able to turn it into a kind of second doll room. I also put many keepsakes I have gotten over the years on the book shelves as well as on other places around the room. Several items are gifts from family and friends including a few things from my mother. I brought them out here to put in my she shed bookshelves.
Here’s the tour: Starting in the middle is my desk and there is a TV up above the desk that I like to watch while I’m working on my puzzles up here. The bookcase has pictures of some of the dogs we’ve had. Gidget is one we have now. Then I have several items from England, a bookshelf of things given to me, my old Nancy Drew books, and several gifts given to me by friends – then I have my little white book case that has some Titanic items and down below is a tea set from the Queen Mary – my little squirrels up there on the wall, Chomper and Scamper and the homemade bird house with 2 birdies.
Following on the wall is the name of my she shed, “The Scottish Highlands.” In the corner is my cabinet that stores about seven American girl dolls in it and quite a few clothes that I brought out for them. I wanted to keep my little Christmas tree up here and out all the time.
Moving on is the sitting area where I have more keepsakes on my end tables. I adore greyhounds and we had two some time ago so I wanted to have pictures and this is a puzzle I did that I was able to frame of a group of them. Over in this corner. I have my Secretariat posters – I have always loved the story of Secretariat, even though I’m not crazy about horse racing, and then the final corner bookcase, more Secretariat pictures – there’s one that has a little piece of his horseshoe, and the other two are signed by the owner, and then the jockey who rode him.
And then the top shelf has pictures of my favorite men – in the middle is a picture of my husband probably back in 1980, wearing a western costume. Some more Secretariat keepsakes and some of the Breyer horses that I’ve had for years including Seabiscuit being one of them. That’s pretty much does it. I didn’t show the card table in the middle of the room where I do my puzzles but you could see the balcony off where you can kind of see the hills behind us.
I hope the girls enjoy seeing my She Shed.
Here is the video!!!
Isn’t Paula’s She Shed wonderful? You might have to watch it several times like I did to see everything…
I’ll see everyone Monday! (I’ll try and remember to post the winner of the sweater giveaway Saturday morning)
Have a nice weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne

The drawing sweater is just darling. I’ see that it’s the same design as the aqua one which I won. I love it!
Congrats on getting your outfit listed. It’s such a cute style, and, with parts of the country still under bad weather conditions, this is quite timely!
I finished my little purse today! Only 6 more days!’
Good work on the purse! You are a miracle worker and completed it in plenty of time. 🙂
Wow, what a great day for fun things to see! The lovely sweater that some one will be thrilled to get. The sweet outfit now on ebay, great photos of it, will have lots of bids!!
And then we have that wonderful room of Paula’s! I will watch it more that once for sure. Paula, I didn’t know you were a horse person! I had a cabinet full of horses in my room and loved going to the stables and riding. Back then I could just get my favorite horse and go riding by myself. Other times we would go in a group. I even took riding when I was in collage.
Thank you sharing that with us. I will be looking at again when we get back from the Y.
Glad you enjoyed my horses. I love them – they are so noble. 2 things- years ago, my husband and I went to a farm where they allowed people to ride their horses. There were several people who absolutely did not know how to ride a horse, and I felt so sorry for the horse being kicked and pushed along. However, I was not a good writer either although I didn’t kick any of the horses And I felt like all this weight on their back must be horrible and there’s nothing they can do about it. I’m sure there are people out there who have horses who love them who know how to ride them and take good care of them.
Another time when we were writing with a few people, the owner of the horses told us not to let the horses cross the river- But they did end during that time my horse started swimming, and the water lifted me off of his saddle, and I slid down with one leg in a stirrup. So when he got out of the water and climbed up this muddy hill, I was hanging upside down banging against his side. My Husband and friends rescued me, but I felt so bad for the horse that I decided I just can’t ride them anymore. In some cases, I think it’s abusive when you don’t know, horses very well.
Understand horses and knew how to ride them. Good for you- I admire that.
I apologize for my errors in my note to you, Sissy, writing meant riding!
and the last sentence was meant- that you understand horses and know how to ride.
I knew what you meant, Paula. I am sorry about your problem in the river. I fell off many times on horses, because the saddles would not be tight enough and would slide over with me hanging upside down, , and once when I was supposed to jump and the horse refused, I went flying over the jump by myself, LOL! I loved my time with horses inspite some of the wild happenings. At camp we had to take care of the horse we rode, that was good learning.
I interesting stories. You certainly loved horses and you sound like you were a good rider!
Jeanne, I sent you an email yesterday.
Paula’s room is lovely, She is right in step for the Year of the Horse. I to have always loved horses and had them when I was growing up and my girls had them too. They are a wonderful animal in a girls life. Jeanne, The outfit is very cute and I think it will do well!
I agree Sylvia- to me, horses are such beautiful and noble animals.
That black sweater is just lovely, and will work for a lot of things, jeans too!
I love those outdoor pictures of Chrissa, Jeanne, and she looks like a million dollars outside! Great that you got it listed!
After reading what Paula wrote about her She-shed I thought it would be a room stuffed with all kinds of things, but wow, it is a beautifully decorated room, so light and airy and must be a pleasant place to be in!
While the camera glides over things, I happened to see the English soldier doll with the bearskin hat. I have one just like that that my grandmother brought back for me when she visited England! I stopped the video several time to take it all in, and really enjoyed watching it. I am a bit puzzled though, Paula, were you born in Scotland or England? I am wondering why the name of the room, surely there must be a connection!.
Thank you so much for sending this video in!
Hi Linda,
Glad you liked my she-shed! Not quite a shed though!
My great great grandfather was from Scotland. The family ancestry goes way back and the famous “ Hot Spur” Percy was a knight who fought for the King of England. Their family stayed in Scotland then. They have a castle the family still lives in- Alnwick. People can tour through parts of it. My great great grandfather came to the United States. He was very educated and ran several newspapers. Scotland is the largest part of our DNA.
So my sisters and I really celebrate Scotland.
How cute outfit Jeanne, Chrissa looks so sweet.
Paula, how kind of you to share your second doll room, it is lovely and full of good memories and keepsakes. I love the view on the balcony. It’s a cozy place to do your puzzles. Thank you for sharing Paula.
Have a great weekend,
Angela
I truly love it and enjoy being in it. It’s peaceful and cozy and I have room to work puzzles. I like to frame some of the puzzles that are my favorites.
The outfit is beautiful, Jeanne. I think you will have a lot of interest on this ensemble. All of the exquisite details on a beautiful model.
Happy Friday dear ones.
Paula, your She Shed is so nice. Thank you for the video. Wow, I love all of your treasures, very nice. Your entire space looks so neat and tidy too. That is lovely environment for just enjoying your own space. I love it!
Anne’s last treasured sweater, this one is a very nice design. I love it. Black is a nice color choice, it will look very elegant. Good luck to all of you entrants!
Jeanne I hope you received my email with my address?
Yesterday we had dreary rain all day. Ugh it was so bad. I drove to the closest Costco located in Fairfax and that was a bad idea. The Costco in Leesburg, Virginia is so much nicer and less chaotic, Leesburgians are so much friendlier! Today I should go to the old house and…. get serious.
Love to all of you
Thank you Rosemary for your comments on my She-Shed. I truly enjoy it – it use to be an office for my husband but he didn’t use it much so I was able to transform it for the things I enjoy.
First off, we’re freezing here. It’s taking forever this morning to get the house warmed up because it was in the 20’s last night and is now only hovering around 30. Even with my porch plants covered, they may not make this freeze. Way too cold for them. The lemon tree? Don’t know. It will be nipped for sure. Not sure how many cold nights we’ll be having, but starting Tuesday, I believe that it will be raining all week. Crazy weather here. A neighbor’s plum tree has been in full bloom, and she was lamenting yesterday that she wouldn’t get any plums this year.
Now, Chrissa’s outfit is perfect. And her outdoor photos are a wonderful way to display the outfit. Wish that I was wearing it this morning. Frozen fingers here
I love love love Paula’s special room getaway, The Scottish Highlands. How wonderful to have so many fun mementos displayed so they can be accessed and enjoyed. The horses are great and the photos too. Do you remember Seabiscuit? He was also a famous racehorse. He ended his days at a ranch, Ridgewood, north of here in Willits, CA. I understand that now it is a preserve, with his burial location a secret. I enjoyed the special mountain views too. Reminds me so much of here in Sonoma County. Thank you so much Paula and Jeanne for sharing the great video. Heading back to see it again. 🙂
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and keep warm.
Thank you Joy for liking my Scottish Highland- and I love Sea Biscuit too. His horse statue is on the shelf below Secretariat. When my husband and I stayed at a VRBO north of San Francisco, we went searching for Sea Biscuit’s farm. We found it and of course, as you said, you can’t go in- at least at that time. There was a little museum nearby but I’m not sure if it included things about Sea Biscuit memorabilia. I can’t remember. Sea Biscuit is the horse with the red cover on him on the shelf,!with his book.
One of the bigger horses on the same shelf is the one Sea Biscuit beat in that famous race. I was moved by the fact he is resting on his beloved farm.
Jeanne and Kristopher, thank you for figuring how to get my video and write up entered! I wish I had been playing some music to accompany my video. I was afraid if I spoke, I might mess up an explanation of items and ruin the video.
Love the finished jacket outfit! So cute and perfect for these cold days.
Anne’s talent for knitting sweaters is amazing. Lucky ladies to have won them.
Today I get my cast off! I cannot wait. It has been miserable with it on my right hand. It was needed though. I have to say I’m sure there are people who had to wear a cast far longer than me and I feel for them.
Thank you Sofa Sisters for your comments on the video. I hope you find it interesting. I’ll be leaving soon to get my cast off and when I get back, I’d like to answer some of the questions that were asked.
I also meant to say we loved the movies for Seabiscuit, (both of them) and also Secretariat’s movie. I have read every Black Stallion book and all the others he wrote, I still have every book, most are paper back. I guess they will wind up in Good Will.
So glad that the cast is off. Hurray! A brace will seem like nothing, I’m sure. The time will swish right by. 🙂
Thank you everyone for the nice things you said about the sweater and my knitting.
Paula your she shed is wonderful. I was imagining something like my workroom but it is nothing like that. It is lovely and you have some lovely things to go in it.
We had another storm last weekend, lots of flooding and one person died. At least this time they evacuated people from below hillsides that were already saturated from the previous weekend. It rained here as well, my son lives by one of the two rivers in Christchurch but the house is high on a hill, fortunately, because the road floods every time they have heavy rain. They have a big car so were able to navigate the flooding to get to work.
Our government is fixated on building big new (expensive) roads, often to save Aucklanders 20 mins of commuting time but every time we have heavy rain another small road gets closed by land slips and they are often the only road in and out of these small settlements. People are still being supplied food and other necessities by helicopter in some places because the road is still closed from the previous storm. Maybe they should fix the existing infrastructure first but hey what do I know!
Have a good day everyone
Thank you Anne for your input on my She-Shed. I love it and I love being in it. It’s peaceful and there’s room for my table where I work on puzzles or other fun things.
The flooding sounds terrible.
It seems there have been a lot of disasters around the world. I’m glad your son is safe by being up high. Floods, fires, avalanches – too much dangerous situations lately.
Take care Anne- love your sweaters – now that’s a real talented form of enjoyment!
I forgot to mention how cute your black sweater will be for some winner. Thank you so much for knitting these lovely sweaters for all of us.
So sorry about the roads that need to be fixed. Can’t believe that they have to order supplies to be delivered by helicopter. I know in mountain areas here, there are places that have had slides as well. People will park one car on one side and have one on the other and hike around the slide. Kind of crazy.
Running terribly behind today with groceries, etc. this morning.
Another lovely sweater from Anne. How kind of her to share her talent with us.
Yay, today the horrible cast comes off!!
I loved seeing your special room again, Paula. I think you’ve added quite a few lovely touches to it since then. All your Scottish and English treasures are so special. And of course those Nancy Drew books we all grew up with and loved. G. looks great in that Western outfit. I enjoyed seeing your wonderful horse collection. Those are amazing. A delightful room for sure and the view from your balcony is just beautiful with the ocean breeze wafting through.
Thank you Laura! You know me well enough – we share a lot of ideas and things we love. I’m hoping to get my dolls out one of these days to re- dress them and enjoy them. But you know how that goes. We have too much on our to-do lists.
I now have a brace for taking it a bit easy for the month. I can take it off and on though. The surgeon is pleased with the results and so am I.
I don’t think our Scottish Ancestry is quite as special as yours though- I think my ancestors were at the ready for yours ! 😊
I like Chrissa’s outfit. It’s cute.
Please enter my name in the drawing for the sweater.
Congratulations Dena on winning the sweater.
Jeanne, I am not sure I commented on the pink outfit but I love it and I hope it does well for you.
