HI everyone,
I was very careful and very sneaky when I was out taking care of the hens this morning. I didn’t see the momma wren on the fence where she sometimes perches, so I quietly snapped this picture of the babies… three of them; I think, and you can see they’re getting fuzzy like down covering their tiny bodies. Barbara, we aren’t picking tomatoes from anywhere near the nest… just maybe a few on the outside down at the bottom.
I received some pictures from Linda and then some from Anne and some from Laura late today.
So I’m set for a few days without having to ask you a question. Although, I HAVE been enjoying reading your answers when I find a few minutes here and there.

Hi Jeanne, here are some pictures you can use to round out the week if nothing else shows up.
First are the 40’s girls, shopping for school supplies. This weekend is a tax-free holiday, just in time for school items, so they are taking advantage! The cart is full of school bags, pencil boxes, and notebooks!
Here is Cecile wearing Addy’s Sunday Best outfit. I thought she looked so cute in this, and it could even be a modern-day dress.
Here is Betsy chilling in Molly’s bedroom, thinking about what is in store for her in kindergarten this fall!

Sara is practicing for her big piano recital coming up!

Thank you Linda! I’ve had and still have my moments… more than I care to ever remember, but I know the Lord has taken care of us all these years and I’m believing He is still in control. I have been clinging to these 2 verses from the Bible and have memorized them. I speak them out loud and sometimes quitely many times each day…
Psalms 46:10…”Be still and know that I am God…”
Isiah 41:10… “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you…I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
He has blessed us in SO many ways and I trust Him. Thank you for your kind words! I love you too!

What a nice treat, to see pictures from Linda tonight! (I’m still up so it’s still Thursday…LOL) I hope the modern girls have enough money to pay for all those school supplies!

I have to agree with Jeanne; that picture of Betsy in Molly’s room is just adorable!!
Sara must have her music memorized now–she doesn’t have any sheet music in front of her! I don’t remember memorizing any piano pieces, although I think I must have, while I was taking lessons. When I was playing handbells, I know there were some pieces we practiced a lot, and probably mostly memorized those, although we did keep our music in front of us.
Jeanne, I know just what you mean about “moments”, and of course you will have them. It’s called anticipatory grief, and it’s a combination of worry for today and imagining what life will be like when that “some day” eventually comes. Been there, done that. I’m so thankful your faith is strong, as it will help you now and in the long run, as well. I particularly love the Isaiah passage. I also love Joshua 1:5, which says, in part, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”.
I meant to say, too, that the smoke is starting to dissipate a little (my throat isn’t so scratchy), and my house is finally cooling down tonight. And, they arrested the guy who set the fires in the Spokane area. Damage has been horrific–over 900 structures gone, mostly homes. No deaths that I know of at this point, but I did hear there are a few people unaccounted for, so that could change.
And, I have noticed the last couple of days, my name and email address have stayed put on the blog any time I click on “Share your thoughts!”, which for quite a while, they didn’t–I had to put them in every time.
Jeanne, those baby birds are growing by leaps and bounds! They actually look like birds now! It certainly is amazing to see how fast most baby animals grow compared to humans! I hope there are no cats lurking around the nest!
Thank you for the compliment on that picture of Betsy! I thought it was cute too, but it is hard to get the dolls there in Molly’s bedroom. It is underneath a table, and when I set it up there, I was much more limber!🤣 Her kitchen, which is right next to the bedroom, is outside of the table, so it is much easier to position the dolls there. Funny, but this used to be my son’s room, and when he came home after moving out and seeing the dolls there, he was quite surprised, well, more like shocked!😊
Thank you, Charlotte! Yes, either Sara knows her piece by heart, or her “mother” forgot to put the sheet music in front of her! I think it might have been the latter, since I do have sheet music for the piano!

Linda, I ran out of time before my massage this morning and am just now getting back to the Blog. I love your doll pictures. That dress on Cecile is gorgeous. It must cost a fortune for the school supplies for all those girls. And thanks for putting a dress on Betsy my Betsy already has. She is always quick to point out what your Betsy is wearing that she doesn’t have. Hugs to Sara for being such a conscientious piano student. She sits at the piano perfectly. And Betsy in Molly’s bedroom is just totally adorable. Thanks so much for being on top of things and sharing.

I have managed to get everyone school bags and supplies over the years, so not all at once, but, if I did, yes, it would cost a fortune! Sara says “thank you” for complimenting her on her piano playing skills and Cecile is in heaven, knowing you love her dress!
Oh, Linda, what sweet photos today. I can just see your girls taking the school things out and sharing. Yes, little Betsy is so sweet, sitting there and thinking about her day. Cecile is so lovely in the purple dress and hat, and Sara looks so intent working on her music. Thank you for your beautiful photos.

A friend at craft club (we all gather and just do our own thing- lots of knitters and bead jewellery makers and needle workers… I bring any hand sewing I have) gave me a big tomato. I have not had a home grown tomato in a long time maybe. It was very good.
I have not yet made a peach pie this summer.
It is going to be another very warm uncomfortably humid day outside. I am staying inside! I am gonna do chores and sew. I am going to clear off the dining room table and assess what I have piled there in the corner and perhaps fold it all together. Most of this is blouse patterns and fabric. I will put a hold on that and focus on my Flag quilt top. I made 18 cute American flags and now I am making the in between blocks.

I bought the fabric for the lighter kit and it includes all of the fabrics. After that treasure arrived yesterday, I got a coupon for 10% off so I bought the kit in the darker colors. What a blast. I am sewing down stairs at the dining room table so I have to keep my mess contained. I would sew upstairs in my sewing space but since Kitty Princess is an “outdoor” (on the screened porch) kitty I like to keep an eye on her. The door is cracked open and I pretty much sealed the upper part of the opening to not heat up the house. So, I am keeping busy.

Thank you, Rosemary! I try to remember what little girls were wearing in the 40’s, and it seems like we always wore dresses, so they are wearing dresses to go shopping. The three big girls are all wearing Kit’s clothes, since I don’t have Kit.
I always miss the rush to get ready for school, since I don’t have to do that anymore, but it always gets to me every fall. I certainly do miss the excitement and anticipation of a new school year!
That quilt kit you bought is beautiful! Are you going to g to hang it in your new home? You will have to show us when you get it finished!

My Ivy is here in Ohio to join the modern girls. I wanted to change her name but have been too busy to even address any of my dolls.
I will have to send 3 AMG desks out to California first Molly and her friends. Then I can finally do a school scene.
I also added a new girl recently, I actually got her from Amazon on sale. She’s number 132. Her name is Jasmine and she’s adorable- also a modern girl.

Paula, thank you so much for the kind words! I too, just love Molly’s bedroom! It is so cheerful and sort of what I had as a child. I had a dressing table Al ost like that too. Most everything in my collection with the 40’s girls are from the things I remember having too. I also took piano lessons, but the piano wasn’t in my room.
Oh my, three desks coming for a school scene! I only have one, but it is all I have room for. But that should be really cute when you get your school scene set up!

The baby birds are adorable. So sweet.
We have quite a few birds, raccoons, chipmunks and even a deer who visit our bird feeders. The deer is quite famous because it meanders throughout our neighborhood. It rests in our back yards even. One of the bird feeders has the roof taken off and it had to be one of the critters who can climb out on the branch.
The group we have visiting us, are so enjoyable and entertaining.

What a wonderful day! We have fog so it’s cooler. Jeanne’s birdies are thriving and it was wonderful hearing from her. Charlotte’s smoke is dissipating. Rosemary has a new quilt kit. Paula has wildlife galore. And Sissy has chimed in too. So great to hear from everyone.
Linda’s girls are absolutely adorable. I love how the pets got to go along shopping. The girls look excited for school too. And Cecile looks so sweet in that adorable dress. I agree with Jeanne that Betsy’s, photo is a memorable one. The bedroom is wonderful even though it is under a table. I can picture Linda, sprawled out on her stomach trying to get the perfect angel for the photo. And Sara, is a piano wiz. I love the special details in all of the photos too. Thank you so much Linda and Jeanne for sharing.
If you can believe it, yesterday was the first day of school for students in the bay area including the grands. Haven’t heard back yet as to how it went, but it seems so early. And it is going to be very hot for the next week as well. At least they have AC in the classrooms which we didn’t have growing up here.
We went to Costco. I was surprised that other person jumped at the idea, until, I spotted the giant box in the basket. It was a power washer. Ugh. We’ve had them in the past and they were a total waste. I know what he wants to do and it only means a ton of work for me. I’ll be the one moving everything out of the way if he does the house here and probably the other house too. The remaining paint will be dislodged so we’ll need to get a painter. All of the windows will need to be wiped so they aren’t streaked. Inside and outside. They all leak. I’ll also have to be inside to mop of all of the water than leaks inside and down the walls. I will have to remove the old screens to clean up the leaky mess. And it goes on and on. I forgot that if he does the front porch, it means that the water will be leaking onto the shelves in the garage. More mess. Ugh. I would love to put it back into the car and return it to Costco. Not going to happen though.

School starts early here, but on the 17th. I think my grand girls in Richmond start on that day as well. I guess it is good because the end of summer tends to get stagnant and the kids are bored and it is not great outside when it is so warm. Thank God for air conditioning.
I am doing inside cleaning chores today. Yay for air conditioning.

Well, I guess it isn’t going to come back, so I will write again! Thank you Joy, for the compliments! Well, to tell you the truth, I wasn’t sprawled on my stomach, but it wasn’t much better to look at me trying to take the picture! It is so very difficult to fix everything crawling around on my knees, then being 83, doesn’t help either!
Since I always had pets around when young, the pets here are also in the scenes. And I just love that hat on Cecile! I can’t believe how easy it is to tie it under her chin and still look good! That is certainly a good color for her, and she does look good in all of Addy’s clothes too, plus everything I put on her!
First day of school out there? Wow, that’s early! When I was going to school, it always started the day after Labor Day, so that’s when my dolls start! That gives me more time to dress them.

Jeanne, I love those Bible verses too and have sung them many times in hymns and religious special music. Thanks for answering my question about the tomatoes. I figured you would have to let the ones near the nest go.
I will be off shortly to get a massage. Wednesday was PT evaluation day and it was brutal and left me pretty sore so I’m looking forward to enjoying my massage in the hope that when it is over I can at least move easier. I have I think four more PT sessions and then I’m going to sign up for the Wellness Program. I’m feeling strong and my energy level has picked up but the PT tends to make me stiff and what I need now is to loosen up.

Yes, the shopping cart came from a Kitchen store in Branson, and actually was something a person would put on their counter and fill with whatever you wanted to, kind of like a kitchen Knick knack. I, of course, had other ideas for it, and it fits the dolls perfectly! Hopefully they do have everything they need, because I am not buying more! Now I have to out it all in their bags!

I loved the photos today. I will comment more on Tuesday, it was our Alice quilt class yesterday and I didn’t really have time to check the e mails, we have to be on the road by 9am and while Sam is packing up the car I make our lunch.
Jeanne, I spoke at Church on Sunday on how we deal with it ‘When bad things happen to good people.’ I used a song that has been around forever (I even had to sing it and I can’t sing very well these days).
