Secretly bringing dolls into your house

Hi everyone,
I managed to get Noel’s dress hemmed, the snaps and buttons sewn on the back and some little pants cut out, but it wasn’t very exciting to show, so I decided to post something I saw on Facebook. I think it will put a smile on your face as you read it. As soon as I saw the cartoon I instantly thought of Joy and how she has managed to smuggle quite a few dolls into her house undetected. I had to see if she posted anything, but she hadn’t when I last checked. She could teach these ladies a thing or two…

This is the conversation between a few ladies discussing how they get their dolls in the house…

I also received a picture from the winner of the Black Velvet Snowflake jumper. Her Caroline doll looks so pretty in the outfit. Thanks for sharing!

Then I also received a picture from the winner of Felicity. She has her dressed up so nicely and was so happy to have won her!

I will keep working on Noel’s set and have something to show you, hopefully tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

OH, that conversation has some real funny comments! I love the one where the lady’s next doll is going to be 28″ with big hair! and the one whose friend has her dolls sent there, so she can just tell her husband, said friend must be at it again!

I love that jumper set on Caroline–so pretty! And nice that Felicity has a new home; she looks very happy!!

We are starting to warm up–all the way to 38 today! Some areas north of us still have ice and/or snow, though, so be careful on the roads!

    1. Hi Charlotte
I’m glad you liked today’s post. I thought it was just too good to pass up. It would have been better if Joy had gotten in on it… she really has the smuggling thing down pat!

I’m glad both ladies were pleased with their dolls outfit or the doll. I need to get back to my selling too. I have found some more to sell.

We warmed up to 31 today, but the wind chill was still around 20 all day.
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

This is really weird!! The person who entered that on face book is my customer that I am working with for outfits right now! We were on the messenger last night picking out fabrics and discussing patterns for St. Patrick’s day outfits for her Meadow dolls! What a coincidence! She is a really nice person.
As for sneaking dolls in, I don’t have to, thank goodness. My sweet hubs loves having them around and often gets out his phone to showoff photos of them in outfits I have made. He has even done this to perfect strangers! He is a keeper for sure.

    1. HI Sissy,
It’s nice when the Hubby’s can enjoy what we enjoy too… It sounds like your hubby is the best cheerleader you could possibly ever hope for.
      He IS a keeper!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Always good to know that I am not alone in doll escapades. 🙂 Around here, there may be a big problem coming up in early February. For whatever production problem, it looks like several dolls from RR are going to be arriving about the same time. Woe is me! I can’t even imagine trying to bring in and hide three doll boxes at once or three days in a row with deliveries. I’m sure that would involve a knock at the door from the delivery service as well. I guess time will tell as the new month approaches.
How is the weather for everyone? Snow? Power outages? I saw that another cold blast may be arriving for many places. Here, we have rain ahead for several days. Can’t work outside, but there are plenty of projects to keep me occupied inside. Keep warm everyone.

I read your comment to me from yesterday and chuckled a bit because I have been totally non-productive while I tried to figure out how to better control my time. I set up two days a week for administrative things so that if something has a due date it doesn’t get overlooked (which has happened in the past with some paperwork). With the exception of Sunday, the rest of the days are for household things and I actually managed to clean up and organize a couple drawers in my pantry. I try to sew some in the late afternoon every day since I don’t seem to be able to sew for long periods of time as I used to. This is a nice ending to my “workday” and is my reward for tending to have tos all day long. I use my rowing machine in the morning Monday, Wednesday and Friday and when the weather and my body cooperate I take a walk in the afternoon some days. So far I have actually cleared out a lot of “I’ll get to this later” stuff and my dolly girls are liking my new schedule a lot.

      1. Good for you on the organization and scheduling working out, Barbara.
I’m trying harder to get things under control around here. I just have so many interruptions in my day it seems… it’s hard to stick to a schedule. But the things that are a given, kind of keep me on schedule.

My sister, Deb, and I both have a “thing” for planners and schedules… We have ever since we homeschooled our kids. We shared schedules back and forth with each other and have been doing it ever since.
        Hope you keep it up,
        Blessings, Jeanne

    2. HI Joy,
As I was reading your comments, I wondered why your hubby doesn’t get the Informed Delivery on his phone? Maybe he does but just doesn’t pay attention to the packages down at the bottom. :o)
3 dolls all at once… you better make a turkey and feed it to him right before the mail comes… maybe the tryptophan will make him sleepy and you can sneak them in.
We don’t have snow but it’s still windy and cold out… I haven’t looked ahead to see what’s coming.
Tonight is a chili night for us… yummy!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Joy, I was thinking about you when I read today’s posting. You are part of the “sisterhood” of dolly hiders (laugh).

I laughed at the conversation about smuggling in doll acquisitions. It’s rare I can “sneak” anything in here. Once when I received several doll-related Items I thought I was being clever opening all the boxes and then throwing them in recycling before hubby came in for dinner. That afternoon he sought me out asking who had received the new bicycle. He had thrown something in the recycling bin and could not help but see the empty box. I never thought that he might notice what was in the recycling bin. I should have worked harder to conceal the boxes.

Speaking about my new attempt at time management reminded me of a neighbor who lived across the street from us when I was growing up. She always seemed to have free time and the rest of the women in the neighborhood were quite irritated with her since she had children and a house to keep up as they did. One day my mother asked her how she managed to have so much “extra” time. She told my mother she did certain things on certain days and with the exception of caring for her children and cooking dinner, that’s all she did. Once her girls were all in school she did her daily task and then was free until dinner time. You’ll love what she did with her extra time when she wasn’t having coffee with the neighbors. She sewed!

Definitely no snow here. Last night it was in the 40s and it is warming up as the day goes on. Next week it’s rain most days and temps in the 60s. Winter SE Texas style has returned.

    1. HI Barbara,
It never fails, if you throw your trash away, your hubby will find it somehow. It happens to me too… sometimes I break things down and put it in a trash bag in my sewing room and throw it away weeks later. But I have to admit, my hubby trusts me enough to know if I needed a doll, and bought one, I must have really needed her. He has never begrudged me for what I’ve bought. It helps that I do make some money with them…
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Those two dolls you have pictures of look so sweet! They really did go to good homes, well, for the first one, it was the outfit, but she looks so well kept, and the Felicity doll looks so happy I her new home! You have some great buyers, Jeanne!

Well, I cannot for the life of me understand having to hide dolls or anything else from my husband! We are both retired, with each other 24/7 , and how can anything get into the house without the other one noticing? Getting the mail is Michael’s domain, so he knows of anything that comes. He doesn’t mind me having a hobby that I enjoy, and I certainly don’t go overboard with it, much to his relief!

    1. Hi Linda,
The Caroline doll looks so pretty in the black velvet set and Felicity looks great in that red cape and dress set. Who said red heads didn’t look good in red?

You have a great hubby, Linda… he lets you do what you want and you let him do what he wants… A perfect blend of dolls and tools.. kind of like my household. :o)
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. That conversation is really funny. The one that sends them to her friend’s house is the best of all. In the mid-20s here. Had to run and get more birdseed for the birds and squirrels. The squirrels are s entertaining as they manage to hang upside down on the feeder. I don’t know why they bother as the platform feeder has stuff, but it all makes for great kitty tv as the furballs line up at the window to watch.

    1. Joy in northern CA

What a fun idea for the kitty tv fan club. Birds/squirrels, great stars. We have a feeder to which we attached a baffle to keep the squirrels out of the feeder. Plenty of food on the ground for them. Other person had moved the feeder several times as the squirrel crew were able to leap from the privets and grab on, so he took an old aluminum outdoor umbrella stand and cut a hole in the bottom so that it would fit on the feeder pole. The squirrels were not happy, but it worked for awhile. Until, some smart ones were able to grab on to the edge and climb up the aluminum to reach the feeder. Other person did not like that and so grabbed a can of WD40 and sprayed the baffle with it. He has great joy talking about watching Mr/Mrs Squirrel crawl up to the lip of the umbrella stand and grab on ready to climb the rest of the way. Only, to their amazement, lose their grip and slide back down. One was finally able to grab the edge, but as it tried to climb further, you could hear it’s claws scratching on the aluminum as he lost his grip and down he slid. After that, they didn’t try it again. Right now, I’m not too happy with the squirrels as they have dug up bulbs I had planted in several pots so that they could bury acorns instead. Ugh.

      1. HI Joy,
I’m trying to imagine what the umbrella stand looked like… George is trying to think of something to keep the squirrels out of the feeder. They gobble it up too quickly… We want to keep the feeder just for the birds. Maybe you can draw me a picture of what it looked like?
        Thanks, Jeanne

    2. HI Laura,
That bestie comment was great… I bet some ladies will start using it to sneak some dolls in.
We’ve got an abundance of squirrels at our house too. Reuben barks at them when they climb on the big sasafrass tree in the front. We always know when it’s a squirrel he’s barking at.
I bet your kitties love watching them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, I enjoyed reading the posting that you made about hiding dolls.

I am happy that you got to see how your outfit looked on its new owner and how the doll you passed along is loved by her new person.

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
I’m glad you enjoyed about how others sneak their dolls into their houses. Joy isn’t the only one who has issues, I guess. :o)

It is always nice to see my things or my dolls in pictures. I’m so happy the two ladies were thrilled with their purchases. Now to get busy and make some more people happy! :o)
      See you tomorrow,
      Blessings, Jeanne
