HALF of the 2023 DOLL DRESSES Year in Review

HI everyone,
I hadn’t forgotten about posting ALL the doll dresses I made last year, but I didn’t want to “announce” it until I could gather up all the information about them. When I made a grid to see just WHO got dresses last year, it was kind of all over the board… that is, if you remove the Ruby Red Fashion Friends. Once again, as a total group of dolls, they were the big winners last year with 10 outfits to share among them all.

So here are a few statistics about last year…

I managed to make 25 dresses last year…

The weather must have kept me inside in the month of February, because I managed to make 4 dresses that month… more than another other month.

I don’t know what happened in the month of April, as I only managed one dress that month.

August and September were busy months with playing nurse maid to my hubby after his surgery.

I only managed ONE Christmas dress last year… boo hoo… I LOVE to make Christmas dresses! BUT James got a Christmas set… just for a boy!

Felicity ended up with 2 dresses last year… Springtime Promise and Colonial Stroll

Ten Ping tied with Freida … each getting 4 outfits

The Ruby Red Fashion Friends as a whole had 10 outfits between Freida, Rose, Sarah, Violette, Stella and James… The only one who missed out modeling last year was actually one of my very favorites… Rozen!

Noel modeled 2 dress sets last year.

Molly modeled one dress…all the way back for Easter in 2023.

Mini Bailey modeled twice.

Leah, Kirsten, Lian and Emmie each modeled one dress set.

Okay, to split this up, I’m going to do 12 today and then 13 on Monday… hopefully. I’ve been summoned to Jury Duty and have to call Friday evening to find out more information about serving.

1 “Springtime Promise” First in January was Felicity in “Springtime Promise!” She was the recipient of my first Pelerine capelet!

2 “Year of the Rabbit” Next in January was Ten Ping in “Year of the Rabbit!” She received a one of a kind bunny purse…

3 “Eager for Easter” Noel modeled Eager for Easter! I did love this set! :o)

4 “Easter Excitement” Molly is showing you “Easter Excitement” and she certainly was excited!

5 “Vibrant in Violets” The fifth dress in 2023, went to Freida in “Vibrant in Violets!” That’s not the prettiest picture, but Elaine emailed me today and asked about Reuben… When I saw this picture of Freida, AND Reuben and my hubby, I decided to use it. Elaine, this is for YOU!

6 “Bunny in my Pocket” Next up is Lian in “Bunny in my Pocket!” I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this fabric! (AND the doll!) She’s my sweetheart!

7 “Littlest Irish Lass” Mini Bailey stole the show with her green Littlest Irish Lass outfit! She’s tiny, but has LOTS to love to share.

We’re halfway through today’s dress sets!

8 “Chartreuse Fantasy” The next dress was another favorite of mine… I love the color Chartreuse… Here is Rose in Chartreuse Fantasy!

9 “Blue Ribbon” Next up is Sarah in “Blue Ribbon!” She wore my first snap-strap shoes.

10 “Little Lambie” Here is Ten Ping in “Little Lambie!” I LOVED her in this set… and bought more lambs for this year!

11 “Victorian Spring” Leah got the only dress in April… in one of my favorite fabrics… “Victorian Spring!”

12 “Civil War Charmer” Freida wore my first “tiny” Civil War dress. I called this “Civil War Charmer.” My outside pictures were much better, but I can’t seem to find them…

Well, start thinking an narrowing down your favorites… I’ll show the rest of the year’s dresses Monday…

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy all the pictures…
Blessings, Jeanne

What a fun post, and so nice to see some of your lovely fashions again!

For my favorite, I’m torn between TenPing’s “Year of the Rabbit” and Frieda’s “Vibrant in Violets”–I love most any shade of purple, but if it’s more to the lavender, all the better!!

Update: I took my laptop in to the Geek Squad at Best Buy tonight and they were able to reset it (hold the power button down for at least 30 seconds–who knew?!), and am using it again tonight!! Yay!!

But it’s been one heck of a 24 hours. I got a call at 3 a.m. (1/25); Ron had fallen getting up to use his urinal, 911 was called, and they were checking him out. Long story short, a trip to the hospital as he had a large abrasion on the top of his head partway into his hairline, and a goose-egg on his forehead. No broken bones or concussion, but they found he has a UTI so is on antibiotics. (They routinely test all the older patients now, as many, like Ron, have never had one before and don’t realize they have one!) Some of his blood levels are low, too, so I need to follow up with his PCP.

I brought him back at 7 a.m., got him settled, then came home and slept for 3-1/2 hours. I also had a nap this evening, so I’ve actually done better than I thought I would, but I’m feeling tired now, for sure!

So sorry to hear about Ron but glad it was nothing more serious. Your experience with your laptop was like the one I had with my TV. I have streaming TV but when I first got it the concept was so different than what I was used to that when things didn’t work right I hadn’t a clue what to do. One day I couldn’t access my Freevee so I contacted Amazon to find out what to do. After being passed around for awhile I finally found someone who had the solution. Go unplug the TV! Gee why didn’t I think of that? It’s the first thing I do when I’m having computer problems. Well it worked and I have had to do it several times since – power outage, power surge, lose the connection during a storm, etc. But I’ve got it now.

Dear Charlotte, yeaaa, you are back. I am glad that the solution was a easy one.

I am sorry about your husband. It sounds like the facility acted quickly. I hope you and he can have a good rest this evening.

I meant to add, Barbara, I’m praying for David; dental appts. aren’t any fun for most of us, and dental surgery, even less so. Praying that all will go well, and he will feel calm during it.

    1. Barbara in SE Texas

Thanks for the prayers. I asked if I should go with him but he said the dentist said it wasn’t necessary since they were using a local anesthetic. But I told him I would be glad to come pick him up if after he was through he didn’t feel he could drive home. He wasn’t sedated or I would have gone with him. The last time he was sedated during oral surgery he was disoriented for hours. He should be finishing up about now and so I’m in a holding pattern at the moment.

So glad to hear that you are back with us, Charlotte, but oh my, what a couple of days you had! So glad to hear Ron is being treated, and you are getting your rest, AND are back online! Let’s keep it that way!

And Barbara, prayers for David. I do think men are more afraid of dental work than women, but still, it’s no picnic! Prayers for him that all goes well!

Now, as far as my favorite dress or dresses are for the year, why does it have to be so hard?? I’m really torn on this idea of favorites, because the dolls are a lot of the attraction of the dress, and how cute THEY make the dress look! Not to make you change how you are doing this Jeanne, but if the clothes were pictured by themselves, that would be a help, at least for me! The dolls give the outfits life and charm, so it kind of “rigs” the vote!! LOL

That said, I absolutely love how sweet Molly looks in her dress! (of course)! Then Noel right above her with a similarly colored dress! They would make a cute sister pair! But then Felicity in Springtime Promise is just breathtaking! And Ten Ping puts so much personality in her outfits! I’m sorry, there are just not 1 or 2 dresses that I like best!

Glad to hear that only a reset was needed on Charlotte’s laptop, but very sorry that Ron had a fall. Hope he recovers quickly.
The dresses all have their perks, and I can’t wait to see the rest. I do like the rick rack trim on Leah’s AG dress. That one is very special. And the violet dress on Freida with the stitching and pearls is also a lovely one.
Sun is up and weather looks good. On to the weekend.

  5. I guess my memory is not the best…I had to look twice before remembering all of them. I love the ones with shoes so after Monday I will decide. I could close my eyes and pick one though…each one has something that makes it amazing.
Charlotte…yeah for the laptop and Ouch for poor Ron’s head bump. He must have fallen hard! Another reason the move for him was a good idea.
    Have a good weekend everyone.

  6. Glad you’re back, Charlotte, and yes I actually do know that trick from an IT friend. A hard shutdown usually reboots things. I’ve used it on my old laptop once to get a few more months out of it.
So sorry about Ron falling and right after his birthday. I pray he will get better quickly.
I hope Avila had a happy birthday, Karen and that David’s dental surgery went well, Barbara.
I’m glad we get to see the year in review and I had no doubt that the Rubies took the fair number again last year. I also knew Ten Ping got quite a few. Well, out of this batch my choice is an easy one, but I’ll wait and see what Monday brings.

It’s hard enough picking one favorite outfit from half the pictures. I’m sure my stress level will increase by more than half when the other half plus shows up. I love them all. I have the fabric that Lian’s “Bunny in My Pocket” is made from. I love it too. And also the fabric of Ten Ping’s “Little Lambie”. I have that in pink and peach.

I should be completing two more of my Christmas/holiday outfits this weekend but you probably won’t see them until next Christmas when I’ll do another Christmas photo shoot. I haven’t done one for a few years because there hasn’t been much in the way of new Christmas attire. I’ve already got an Easter outfit on the drawing board for my L’il Dreamer Jovi and hopefully one for my LD Amelia Dawn. So far my new schedule is working out very well. I hope it’s not derailed next week when I finally take down my tree and village. They are not really in my way and I’m still enjoying them but I need to do a reorganization of all my patterns and I need my dining room table for that.

The day is overcast and the temps are comfortable. Hopefully it will be a rain free day here. This morning it was so foggy I couldn’t see down the street.

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, the outfits are all lovely. I can’t decide which I like best. I will have to wait to see them all.
