Since October is in its final hours, how about some black and orange doll dresses!

Hi everyone,
I found this post in the “draft” section, and must have started it, but didn’t finish it. OOPS! So here goes before October is over! Which is tomorrow! Yikes!!

I received some pictures from Sissy and Linda and thought I’d share them until October is over.
Nothing goes together better than black and orange, (well, unless it’s blue and yellow, or navy and kelly green, or chocolate brown and blue, or pink and gray… well, you get the idea.) Today we’ll stick to black and orange.

Here are Sissy’s two moppets… 16″ My Meadow dolls, Lea (I think) and Mae. Sissy’s made them sweet little dresses in today’s color… black and orange! :o) They are adorable!

If you click the pictures they will enlarge!

These pictures are from Linda…

Jeanne, here are a few pictures I took of my Halloween decorations in one of the doll rooms.
First, Molly’s Halloween table, decorated for her party after trick or treating.

Next, one of my dollhouses that I fixed up .

Here are the 40’s girls, ready to go! Everybody gets a mask, except Betsy!

Here are the modern girls. The genie and kitty cat costumes are new for us this year!

Love to you,
Linda💕

Well, that was short but sweet!
Tomorrow we’ll be treated to some fancy costumes from Susette, all the way from California!
And then… I’ll reveal who the next girl up is!!!

See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne

What fun to see Sissy’s and Linda’s dolls and decorations!! Thanks so much for sharing.

On Halloween I will be meeting my friend Marika for our annual lunch out. Dolls will be in attendance; they will be wearing costumes! Mine are still discussing whose turn it is to come!!

On Saturday our two youngest grandsons, Alex (16-1/2) and Jacob (15-1/2) and their cousin Daniel (same age as Jacob, I think) came down to visit Ron. I hadn’t told him ahead, just in case something happened to prevent the visit, but all went well. Ron was surprised and pleased. I did get some pictures, which I posted one on FB. After their visit, they came back here and did a couple of little jobs for me. So nice!! It’s wonderful to have such nice boys in our family.

Thank you Charlotte! Please take pictures tomorrow of your luncheon with your dolls to share with us! It should be fun for everyone, dolls included!

What thoughtful grandsons you and Ron have!

Yes, Charlotte, we would love to see photos of your dolls’ lunch! So happy for your grandson’s visit and help. My sons came for a visit a few weeks ago and my porches are now shiny clean!

What darling dolls and outfits, Sissy! The colors are so clear and bright! You did a wonderful job on those outfits! Did you make the hats too?

I can’t say the same for mine being clear and bright! I have a terrible time with lighting for my pictures, and my dolls are not placed in the right spot for light for photos, but it’s the only place I have for putting the dolls. I can tell you the colors are nice and bright in real life!

Thank you for showing my dolls, Jeanne!

  3. Susette from Southern California

The dolls are darling! I didn’t realize the My Meadows dolls were that size. I thought they were minis! Beautifully sewn dresses on the girls. Don’t they look like real women we’ve known over the years, like Aunt Hazel or Cousin Ruth?

Linda’s scenes are always so wonderfully detailed. No worries about the lighting. Dark is dark after all. Spooky! Using placemats with different scenes is a great idea for a Molly-size table. The treat holders, not all the usual pumpkins, are so cute. My favorite costume is the 🐈‍⬛! Thanks for sharing, Linda and sissy. 🎃🧛🏻👻🥷💀

Thank you Susette! I think we all are our own worst critics, but I am glad you enjoyed the pictures!
Those treat holders were from here and there, wherever zi cojod find them!

Thanks for sharing the pics Jeanne, Sissy, and Linda. Really makes it feel like Halloween. 🙂
Sissy’s, Meadow girls are so cute in those Halloween theme dresses and the hats top them off perfectly. Be prepared, as they will capture the most candy I’m sure. 🙂
I love Linda’s Halloween table setting. Those glowing lanterns are wonderful and those scary spiders are perfect to guard the candy bowl. 🙂 The mix of accessories is amazing.
How fun to see the decorated dollhouse at Linda’s. All of those tiny accessories add to the great flavor. I think that hanging ghost will scare away any Trickers for sure. 🙂
Love seeing the big girls all decked out for the scary night. They seem very protective of little Betsy as well. Good for them. And those fun accessories just make the scene so festive. Love that Halloween sign in front. Ties everything together so well. 🙂
And last but not least, ta dah… the new costumes. Love the kitty and genie. What a perfect corner display and accessories.
Loved all of the fun photos. Thanks everyone. 🙂

Joy, you are pretty much our sofa expert on the Meadow Dolls so I thought maybe if you have time you could educate us all on those wonderful dolls. I have a Dumpling, Lolla, but she is my only Meadow doll, but I am aware of the other sizes I just often forget which dolls belong to which category. You have an amazing collection and I believe you have at least one in every size.

  5. I always enjoy seeing pictures of anyone’s girls, especially when dressed for holidays or special events.
I didn’t realize that the My Meadows girks were that tall either. They sure look cute in their Halloween outfits. And Linda’s girls, all ready in their cute costumes, ready to enjoy the night and the party st Molly’s. Betsy looks so cute as Little Red Riding Hood.
Thanks for sending in and sharing your pictures with us!
Yes… who will be next up for an outfit!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Paula! I like Betsy’s Little Red Riding Hood costume too, in fact, I think she looks the part to a “T”!

Thank you Joy! You certainly do notice so many things, and it makes things more fun where there are a lot of things out on display for others! I haven’t used everything I have, but I try to keep it from looking too junky. I just wish I had more space for the dolls, but I do with what I have. I do enjoy fixing the dolls up for everyone to see, and hope maybe I can inspire others to do the same. It sure puts a person in a happy mode!

I always enjoy seeing the photos of the dolls of my sofa sisters. I enjoy them at any time of the year but it’s really fun to see how they are dressed and displayed for Halloween. Thanks Sissy and Linda for sending them to Jeanne, and thanks to Jeanne for posting them. The costumes Sissy made are wonderful and the Meadow girls look so cute in them. I showed Linda’s Halloween house to my dolly girls and some said they would love to trick or treat there while others thought it looked too scary. Believe it or not it was the younger ones who thought it would be fun. The older ones just pretended they were too old for trick or treating – but I think it was more they just didn’t want to admit they would be too scared. Great job Linda!

I love the table all prepared for a Halloween Party. And the girls all look ready for some fun trick or treating. Really like the new kitty and Genie costumes. Betsy looks adorable as always. I was thinking of making my Betsy a “Dorothy” costume. Maybe next year. She already has the sparkly red shoes. Wonderful displays. So much to see I’m sure I forgot to mention something.

A bit chilly here in southeast Texas today and for the next few days. Last time I looked at the temp on David’s clock it was 45 degrees and not expected to get much above that all day today. Sean and his bunch are coming out here tomorrow for the Boo Bash. Their church did a trunk or treat on Saturday and that left them with no plans for the day of Halloween, so they decided to come on out here. They started going to this when they lived here and Skyy and Jaiden were little, and it’s gotten better each year so they’ve kept up the tradition of attending. It’s really a fun time and they have spook houses plus other fun things, and all the shops are open downtown and they give out treats. I think it’s from 4 pm till about 8 pm but they usually try to get here at the start and finish up about 6 pm when the crowd really starts picking up as parents get off from work and get their children in costumes. Then we go to supper after. Sean is taking the day off tomorrow so he doesn’t have to drive here and back twice in a day since it is a ways from where they live. Usually it’s a little too warm for my liking on Halloween and I end up sitting on one of the benches around town till they finish. But this year it will be a cold one so I might have to stay moving to keep warm.

When Sean was in fourth grade, I think, we had a front come through on Halloween and it was very cold and windy. I had made him a Ninja Turtle costume. but while it would have been warm for a normal Halloween it wasn’t warm enough for that one. This was before the days of the Boo Bash and people would bring their children into town from the farms and ranches so they could trick or treat the homes on Main Street. Usually people would sit out in their front yard with their candy cauldrons enjoying the evening and the kids in costume. That year I drove Sean around stopping often for him to trick or treat a few houses and jump back in the warm car. Everyone was handing out candy from the warmth of their homes. Even when I lived in PA it was never that cold on Halloween.

Thank you, Barbara for the compliments! I like decorating the dollhouse for the seasons too, since that’s where the dolls are and it gives the room a festive look. There is always something new to add in every nook and corner!

It was fun to hear about your Halloweens and how you celebrate. We are not going to have good weather here in St.Louis this year, since it will be cold and windy. All those poor little girls with princess outfits, are goi g to be covered up with winter coats, I’m afraid!

  8. We have had such a lovely fall…warm and colorful and wouldn’t you know it Halloween high is to be 37 degrees! Poor kids…but current traditions are changing and there are treats and parties many times so not thinking there will be too many kids tomorrow night.
Sissy and Linda you made my morning! That doll house is hysterical! So cute!
Sissy’s girls are dressed perfectly. Impressive work!
Linda what would we do without your awesome settings and costumes? Your dolls are spoiled! They not only are dressed so well but have all your accessories to play with…lucky girls!
Thanks for posting all the pictures Jeanne!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Thank you, Kathie! Sounds like the weather there will be like here, cold and dreary! Oh well, while it is harder on the kids who walk through the neighborhood, it IS Halloween, after all, and I don’t think they are really that worried about the weather as long as they get free candy!

Yes, I agree my dolls are spoiled, but since they behave so well, it’s hard not to!😊

  9. Blue and white combo are two of my favorites as well as peach and green, but black and orange are October colors, although my black kitties hold well enough on their own the rest of the year. =^-^=.

Hi Sissy, your girls are just adorable in their dresses and pinafores. I love the black kitty peeking out of the pumpkin and the shoes on the brunette are so cute. Thank you for sharing them.

Hi Linda, well we can always count on you to have your girls dressed for the seasons/holidays with all the appropriate props. Molly’s table is very cute as is your dollhouse. I like the little plant stand and potting bench you have on the side.
Your 40s girls are certainly having fun. Of course, I love Ruthie as a Medieval Princess having that costume myself and Betsy’s Little Red Riding Hood is just adorable. Your modern girls look great as well, especially black kitty Ivy. I also like your scarecrow and black kitty decor. Thank you for sharing.
Looking forward to Susette’s girls and who will be next on the sewing table.

    1. Li da in St. Louis

Hi Laura! I knew right off that you would like Ruthie’s Medieval Princess costume! It is a beautiful costume, from the early days of Pleasant Company! It certainly fits Ruthie! I do try to change things up every year, and that one hasn’t been worn for a few years. Since I got Ivy’s Kitty Cat costume from EBay, the leggings and shoes didn’t come with it, so I used black boots instead. I made sure the ears headband was included!

Thank you on the compliments of my dollhouse, which will soon be decked out for Christmas.

  10. Sissy Lingle on the GA coast

Thank y’all for the kind words about my Meadow Moppet’s outfits. They are sold, because that is what I love to do, I just save the photos. Meadow makes dolls from 4 inches to 21 inches. My largest is 18 inches, and smallest is 6 inches. I love sewing for them.
Linda always comes through with the greatest displays. I am now homesick for my doll house, I loved it, but Linda, yours is so fancy! REally cute.
Charlotte, what a wonderful surprise for Ron, and such sweet boys to help you out too. My own sons visiting a couple of weeks ago and now my porches are sparkling clean!

    1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh, .Sissy, you sold the dresses! Your poor dolls! They looked so adorable in them, but I’m sure you have more coming for them, perhaps for Christmas? If so, please do show them to us!

I have just two dollhouses, the wooden one, which I showed this time, and a tin one that I got as a birthday gift as a child. I still love arranging the furniture and decorating both of them for the holidays, on top of decorating my own house! I’m always busy!😊
      Thank you for the compliments!

  11. Marilyn in Colorado

This is such a nice way to celebrate Halloween. My AGs are wearing sweaters and jeans. No one feels like trick or treating in the snow and in temperatures in the teens. For all that, I’m not seeing broken branches or power outs.

I love Linda’s table — it’s very original and the spiders are a nice addition. All of the dolls are lucky to have been given such nice outfits. The range of My Meadow dolls is impressive — there are always new ones. The doll world keeps growing. Jeanne will never run out of dolls to sew for..

    More tomorrow!

And the maybe a Thanksgiving outfit?

    1. Linda in St. Louis

How strange, Marilyn! I wrote a reply to you about half an hour ago, but it never showed up!

Thank you for the compliments! So glad your dolls are dressed for snow!

  12. Link da in St. Louis

Marilyn, no surprise that you are the first of us Sofa Sisters to get snow, but yes, this IS quite early even for that! I don’t blame your dolls for being dressed in sweaters and jeans! Good news that your branches are intact and no power outages!

    Thank you for the compliments!
