When I can’t sew, I play Cobbler…

You guessed it, I am playing with leather again. When my mind is full and I don’t want to “think” anymore, I like to make doll shoes, where all my thoughts are concentrated on making them!

I saw this cute shoe pattern on Etsy, but it was for tiny Blythe’s feet, which were way too small for Ten Ping… and I wanted them to fit her.

…so I tried enlarging the pattern to 110%! It was still to small, but, not to be defeated, I wet my leather and stretched it to fit My Meadow Navi and Bailey’s foot. I “almost” finished this one, but here is Bailey, in the nude, still smiling, because momma “is” making her new shoes!

This is what the pieces look like… before I started putting them together.

Bailey was thrilled with her “one” shoe, and couldn’t understand why Ten Ping got two!

Well, Miss Bailey, it was a couple of hits and misses before I got the pattern right for Ten Ping. Her shoes are wet, not yet trimmed, and stuffed with foil to shape them, so I can’t even show them on her feet, but that won’t stop me from taking a few pictures…

They will dry overnight and “hopefully” they’ll slip on Ten Ping’s feet like Cinderella’s glass slippers did!

I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to see them finished! (Maybe Bailey’s second shoe too!)

See you tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

Very cute shoes, Jeanne!! I’m sure your girls will be thrilled with new shoes–because that means new outfits, too!!

Thank you all for your concern and prayers for Ron. They are much appreciated. He is doing better today, and has had no complaints about about discomfort or pain. He even looks better, now that I’ve cleaned the dried blood out of his hair!! He sees the doctor next Mon., to have his stitches removed

He does have one beauty of a black eye, however!

Linda, to answer your question, an aid car is basically a glorified ambulance. They are part of the local fire depts., and are driven/operated by EMTs (emergency medical techs) who have been specially trained in a great variety of emergency procedures.

Joy, to answer your question, yes, they make stair lifts that can be installed outdoors. However, we have so many rainy days during the year, I don’t think an outdoor stairlift is the best solution. That said, we always go in thru the garage and up the stairs inside the house–our main living are is upstairs, with the “downstairs” simply an unfinished basement. However, a place near us has a sign in the window, that they do carry stair lifts, so I will need to go over there and check it out.

Laura and Joy, a ramp would have to be too long to work for us, I’m afraid. Ditto elevator/wheelchair lift (he’s not ina wheelchair yet, anyway).

Barbara, try Land’s End for rash guard type swimwear–I believe they have some of those, in varying styles, etc.

Charlotte, your house sounds a lot like ours. Only we don’t have any inside stairs. Wish we did. Hope you can check out the stair lifts. I think that would be so helpful. It probably depends on the width of your stairs though. I have seen a pretty neat one that goes straight up through the floor, kind of like an elevator but much smaller.
      Take care.

Now we need a picture of a shoe in your hand to remind us of the real size of these projects. These are going to be great will fall outfits.

So tiny and cute, Jeanne! I can see a little school outfit with these shoes, and a little felt jacket too! I am amazed at your talents in making these little itsy bitsy creations!

Hope the shoe work cleared your mind. 🙂 Can’t imagine making a Blythe shoe. So small. When they are trimmed around the edges, I’m sure they will look more the right size on the Meadow kids. Those buckles are well, really little too. These will be perfect back to school loafers worn with knee socks like my group did many years ago. 🙂
Heat relief here today. Only going to be 80 and it’s 54 right now. Might have to get back to that yard work although it’s been nice having a short break. 🙂

Mini-mini-teeny-tiny…should be a song about Ten Ping. She is such a sweetie and your talent making such small items is amazing🫣
Charlotte you will come up with a good solution I’m sure. Sounds like Ron is healing. You have good ideas and there are so many things available now.
Keeping Ron and George on the prayer list.🙏🏻

What an adorable shoe pattern for Blythe. I have a Blythe but can’t imagine making such small shoes. My close-up vision these days is such that I would need my cheaters and a magnifying glass to even see them. You seem to do great with the smaller items. These are the cutest shoes for both Bailey and Ten Ping and would definitely work for back-to-school outfits. Pleated skirts, nice blouses or tops, knee highs and some kind of jacket.

No rain in sight here and we sure could use some. No need to mention hot. That’s a given at this time of year. Looking forward to September so we at least can start looking forward to some cooler temps. Unfortunately we still have to get through August. I’m mostly in the house in A/C but my poor guys do a lot outside by necessity but they make sure to stay safe.

  7. Glad to hear Ron is on the mend, Charlotte. I hope you can find a workable solution. Our one neighbor has the most ideal house for any age (toddler to elderly). It’s a ranch and it is a straight surface from the driveway through the front door. They don’t have any front steps.
Bailey’s new shoes are adorable with the buckle and fringe. Perfect for back to school with a autumn colors plaid dress and felt jacket and she’s a redhead so those colors are lovely.

Dear Jeanne, the shoes are cute. You have been busy. You could hang out a shingle that says “Shoes R Me!”
