Hold those prayers please…

First of all, thank you to the buyer of Kirsten’s dress set. It was her first dress set from me and she was very excited! Me too! :o)

Well, well, well… we are back home… B…U…T… no surgery yet… My hubby’s surgery was supposed to have been Thursday, but something happened with one of the doctor’s schedule and they weren’t able to work with the other doctor, so it had to be postponed for a little longer. I will let you know “again” when things are happening. We still had to go to St. Louis on Monday for his pre-surgery appointment and see the anesthesiologist, so that is at least out of the way… now we are just waiting for the new time. Oh well…

I guess I can spend some time in my sewing room again… and that’s what I did this evening. I didn’t want to start anything BIG, but decided to refine something I had made before…. Remember these white linen shorts on Violette?

Well, I decided to try them in something besides linen this time, to see how things worked out on the inside… and I’m thrilled at how they turned out. I’m not positive, but isn’t this considered Acid Washed denim? I found this jumper at the Goodwill and it had LOTS of fabric in it, so I thought I’d give it a try making another pair of shorts. The denim is a nice weight and was a dream to sew compared to that linen.

My hubby came in my sewing room when I was taking pictures of Violette and HE even liked them… he thought they looked “cool!” :o)

I decided instead of just topstitching to show where the pockets were, I changed my pattern to have “real” pockets… :o) Violette approved!

There was a bias binding around the neckline and armholes of the jumper that I took off and it made the perfect waistband.

I stitched them on my 221 Featherweight sewing machine and LOVED using it. I had to use my serger and a zig zag stitch on my other machine to finish up my seams on the inside, as the Featherweight is only a straight stitch… but it was fun sewing on it again.

You can tell Violette is rocking these shorts… Now I guess I’ll have to make her another top to go with it.

Well, I will be saving those “scheduled” posts for a later time… but I have to say, I LOVED your answers to my questions! You all amaze me with your talents and abilities! I’m ready to get the Punch Designing house program that Barbara talked about and I have to tell you I TOO, am one who used to love to look at and draw house designs… I have one somewhere upstairs in the attic, of a house I was in love with… guess it’s too late for that now, but it was the “one” I wanted… I might have to search for it sometime, just to see what it was that I liked so much.

Thanks for taking time to answer my silly questions… I enjoyed reading your comments.

Well, I better get to bed…
Thanks everyone…
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, my….well, these things happen sometimes, so hopefully this delay in George’s surgery is just an inconvenience and nothing more.

Congratulations on another successful auction! Perhaps not as dramatic as the previous one, but still a good one!!

Violette’s new shorts are darling!! Love the real pockets, too. So fun!

I had Ron in to see his PCP today. Yes, Ron has gotten weaker and frailer (I got wheelchair transport for him as I knew he’d never be able to walk that far, even with his walker), but he’s not quite to the point of needing hospice care (which is usually ordered when the doctor thinks that life expectancy is less than 6 months). It could be by his next appt., he will be ready, though. But, we do know that his time is in God’s hands, and that is okay with us. The doctor did say if he suddenly declines more, to let him know, as that could change the timing for hospice care. In the meantime, we will treasure each day we are given.

Dear Charlotte, I will be praying for strength for you and comfort for your husband.

The delay is nerve wracking but you both have a good attitude.
The shorts are so darn cute. She has the cutest pose in them. A top and a denim jacket and maybe the long jeans would be perfect. An entire denim outfit!
Harlotte….Sorry Ron is not feeling the best. You are a good caretaker so be good to yourself too.
Off to mark items for the garage sale. Sold a treadle sewing machine before the sale when my sisters daughters mother in law saw it. ( How is that for complicated🤭?) Said she always wanted one. It had been my Great aunts so I was glad she took it.to keep in the family….well sort of anyway.
Will probably be super hot the rest of the week. Abuse it a.ways is every time we do a Garage Sale.😲😳

I certaily was surprised to hear that the surgery was postponed, but well, those things happen. Let’s hope the two doctors can get things scheduled again, so your wait isn’t too long. I’ll be praying for that!

Those shorts are so cute and so “in” now! Theose little pockets make it look real, and it’s fun to see her little hands sliding in! Now for a cute top! Who knows, this might be the start of another little “wardrobe”!

Charlotte, I’m sorry to hear about Ron. At least the two of you know to make the best of your time together, and I’m sure you will.

  3. Jeanne, so sorry to hear about the postponement of George’s surgery. Like you said at least he got some of the pre-op work done. Hopefully the surgery will be reschedule soon.
And Charlotte, you and Ron are in my prayers also. I’m so sorry to hear of Ron’s decline. He’s in the right hands though. Yours, the doctor and God’s.

  4. Joy in northern CA

Well, glad to hear that the pre surgery work is done anyway. Hope the doctors get it together, and can reschedule sooner than later. Must be disappointing to say the least.
I’m sure Linda, Barbara, and I, would be very excited to have Jeanne, join the architectural firm. Hope to see that house plan soon. 🙂
The new and improved shorts are great. What a clever idea finding an old jumper to reinvent. The pockets really add to the design. So cute.
Charlotte, you are doing a great job caring for your husband. I’m sure he appreciates it. So many things to consider for the future. Getting into Hospice might provide a lot of additional care and help you out as well. Many are on it for years. If you haven’t already, maybe giving them a call would be helpful. Thinking of you.
Ruby Red has their deliveries of Dorothy 2, in the mail. Glad to hear that with the UPS strike looming.
Hope everyone is enjoying summer as it is quickly moving towards back to school around here. 🙂

Dear Joy, well I am excited to hear about your delivery to come. I don’t know who Dorothy 2 is but I certainly think she has a lovely name (smile). Please let us know about this upcoming caper.

    Dear Jeanne, prayers continue.

I love the shorts you made. I am looking forward to seeing what else you create for this sweet little doll.

  6. So sorry for George’s surgery delay, Jeanne. At least you have the pre-op out of the way.
Hi Charlotte, I’m so sorry to hear of Ron’s decline, but I’m sure you are a super caregiver and you both will treasure your time together.
Violette’s shorts are very cute. How nice they have pockets in which to keep summertime finds.
