Ten Ping’s 10th and final piece for her new 4th of July SET!

Yes, Ten Ping now has 10 pieces for this fun red, white and blue, mix and match set! There is plenty here to share with a friend, because she can’t wear them ALL at one time! :o) Perhaps Gigi or even Miss Mini Sara could help Ten Ping out! (Just as long as there is no fighting between the girls over who gets which pieces!)

So the tenth and final piece is from a white, gauzy-like fabric, made into the cutest and tinest, crop top, probably on the planet! There are several ways she can wear it, and I plan to show you a few of them. But first, let’s see it… I came up with the pattern this morning and was happy with it, but I do plan on taking the larger snaps out of the back and possibly redoing it so it’s not so thick looking. The fabric is super delicate so I was surprised that it seemed to stick out from the snaps so much. I’ll figure it out and make it better.

Here it is with the pants…

…next with the denim shorts…

…with the red flouncy skirt!

These next pictures are for Kathie… she wanted to see the “dress” look with the hat! :o) Sorry, I didn’t notice she was standing off to one side until I uploaded my pictures…

Perhaps you’ll like them better with Ten Ping sitting down! :o)

Well, that’s it for today…

But you better come back tomorrow… It’s World Doll Day and I have dolly pictures to share! :o) :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, hooray!! I was just thinking tonight, as I read the comments on yesterday’s blog, that outfit needs a white top or blouse! And there you are–a white top! So cute!

I do have Gigi (Ten Ping’s best friend), you know (and she is thoroughly spoiled with several Jeanne Marie couture designs!!), and didn’t get mini-Sara, BUT….Derf said on FB today that a mini Hanna is in the works!! Yay!! And probably mini versions of some of the others!!! (Hopefully Freida and/or Maya.) So maybe one of these days Gigi will have a best friend just her size!!

In the comments yesterday, Barbara mentioned about lace these days being so stiff. It’s because they are mostly using just synthetics (polyester or nylon), and not adding any cotton to the mix. It might also be the sizing they add to make the lace look “crisp”. That said, I would try putting the lace in a zippered mesh bag and sending it thru the washer and possibly the dryer (provided it’s machine washable/dryable), and see if that helps. If you don’t want to chance it with the whole length, take about a 4″ piece and machine baste it to some fabric, and send it thru your washer and dryer, and then check it against the unwashed version, and see if there’s a difference.

It would be good to keep your eyes open and read labels on the bolts or spools the lace is on, looking for fiber content. You might also check thrift stores and garage sales for bags of lace–you could end up finding a treasure trove of lace someone bought 30 years ago, when it was finer and softer!!

There Are some places (such as Farmhouse Fabrics) that sell heirloom fabrics and notions; they would have the softer laces, but they will be more expensive than what Joann’s or Hobby Lobby carries. Still, if you are putting a lot of work into a beautiful garment, using quality fabrics, you might want to spring for quality trims, too. Just my opinion!

Thanks, Charlotte for the info on laces. I’m going to try the washer/dryer idea with a short piece of the one lace I bought. I got it from Home Sew and their things are always the best. I’ve been buying from them for years and this was the first time I received lace like this. I have a 10 yd. hank of this lace so I sure would like to make it more manageable. It looks like it should be glued rather than sew to something. One piece of another I bought actually worked well on the bottom of a dress because it made it stand out. But when all is said and done, I’d much rather it be soft, especially gathered lace..

Jeanne, you have a whole summer wardrobe there for Ten Ping or any doll her size! Even two dolls can share this collection at the same time! That little white top is the cutest thing, and matches up so well with the other pieces!

As far a lace goes, I wouldn’t know a thing concerning how stiff it might be or not be, since I aven’t bought lace for years. I still have snippets of lace lefft over from my sewing days, but cannot comment on what you find today. The only hting to get me sewing today, is a better place to sew than the kitchen table, and the “need” to sew something! I really don’t need any clothes that I could possibly make for myself, and my dolls sure don’t “need” anything either! 🙂

  3. This looks adorable on Ten Ping, so very versatile. Love the little white top. I’d like to see it have a peplum like the other one to cover the elastic waistbands.. For mini Sara I’d like to see the outfit in softer more pastel colors. I think there is going to be a lot of new mommy’s looking for this size.

Dear Jeanne, all done and just adorable! This is a lovely ensemble.

Our local doll club is holding a tea tomorrow on World Doll Day. It’s in my favorite tearoom. I am anticipating BIG fun! The tea is “hosted” by Priscilla, she is our club doll.

    1. Laura in Ohio

Dear Dorothy, that sounds like so much fun! Tea, and dolls! Too bad you can’t add kitties and dogs to the mix. Although I do know there is a tearoom somewhere that has resident kitties. I know I read it somewhere, maybe “TeaTime” magazine. Please do try to get pictures to share.

Any chance for a Zoom tea someday. I sure do wish I could make it in person. I know my Darling girls would jump at the chance to attend.

      1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, I would love a Zoom tea! I go to Zoom programs all of the time. I don’t know how to initiate Zoom. I just click on a link that someone sends. Maybe one of the Sofa Sisters has information.

Hello for PA, by the way!

Oh, a crop top! Fun. Next time outfits are made for TP, I’d like to see the waistbands made of fabric with elastic run through to avoid the underwear look. Or, the fabric gathered onto a fabric waistband with a snap closure in back. 🙂
Since the top might be redone, what about ribbon shoulder ties instead of the wide fabric shoulder bands? Just a thought. I’m sure whatever happens will be lovely.
I had a successful dolly delivery yesterday. What a relief. We’d gone for a walk yesterday morning and after stopping to chat with a friend, the time flew by. Almost home, I noticed a neighbor getting her mail from her box, and it dawned on me about the “Out for Delivery”, doll I was expecting. As we hit the driveway, glancing to the porch, standing there was a huge white doll box, impossible to miss seeing. Horrors! I immediately asked other person to grab a can of chicken broth of which I even fumbled the name as my mind was whirling. He said he was sure we had some upstairs, but I told him I needed another. Well, he went for it. He didn’t see the package either. So, as he unlocked the garage door, I scrambled up the thirteen steps, grabbed the box, and slid it under the bench pulling down a towel over the edge to hide that bright white plastic covered box. Turned and opened the mailbox to retrieve the mail just as other person reached the top of the steps right behind me. So close! But then, I had to wait to sneak the box inside for an hour or so, through lunch and the noon news until finally, other person left the room so that I could grab the box and bring it inside. At that moment, the phone rang, and I jumped in panic. But, fortunately, I came to my senses and just brought in that big white box anyway and put it in the doll/guest room. No way did I want to risk being seen with that box if I took it all the way to the family room and the secret hiding place. Phew! The phone call was just a solicitor anyway. Go figure. About had a heart attack though. Such is another story from, As the Dollies Turn. 🙂

Hi Joy, As the Dollies Turn. LOL. 🙂 So glad the episode ended on a happy note. You were quick thinking and I believe your track record has been great this year so far. Who was hiding in the box? I’m guessing, Alma?
I’d love to know what the “secret surprise” was?

      1. Laura in Ohio

Just thought of future episodes “The Dolls of Our Lives” or “All my Dolls”. Or “The Young and the Restless Dolls”. Mind you, I’ve never watched soaps, but it fun to play with the titles of the names I know.

    2. Kathie from Omaha

I had to read the latest episode to Mike of your “As the DolliesTurns” or any of the other a funny names Laura thought of👏🤗. You girls had me laughing. Who was in the box?
So many cute pieces for that teeny little Miss. I wasn’t going to mention the elastic issue but to a collector that is not a sewer it probably isn’t a big deal…but a waistband is a more finished look.
Thank you so much for the pics with the red skirt! That is my very favorite😉 she is adorable in it. Good luck with this awesome auction!

So you finally have a name for your dolly soap opera. Stay tuned same time, same station. At least you do better than the real soaps. Your stories change and are much more exciting. Who is the latest heroine of your series?

    4. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Joy, oh my good you had me holding my breath! I can’t get enough of your capers. To add to the list of story titles, I have: Dollas (instead of Dallas) and
      Dollnasty (instead of Dynasty).

I watched the “early” soaps The Secret Storm and The Edge of Night. They don’t lend themselves to puns though.

Keep the capers (and dolls) coming (laugh)!

  6. Cheryl Mahoney

Wonderful set, Jeanne! Love all the mix & match possibilities. But, like Dorothy L., I’m not a fan of waistband elastic showing with the white top. White top design would be great as-is with skirts, pants, shorts with finished waistbands. Hope you can easily make a change to cover the elastic.

  7. Laura in Ohio

What a sweet set. The only problem will be deciding what to pair with what and which outfit to wear first.
    Looking forward to photos tomorrow.

Every time I try to type Ten Ping it always comes out Ten Pink. I have to always doublecheck. Spell check is clueless on that one.

A cute little crop top. Very nice. I have this white fabric in pretty tops that you did for the Boneka girls. It was another great wardrobe ensemble. I have two Boneka dolls and they each got a pretty little dress (it appears they are their forever Easter dresses), two nice pairs of capris and the sweet white tops. They insist on wearing the capris and tops all summer. No argument from me. I just keep feeling this tiny little nudge every now and then. I look down and it’s Mini Sara wanting to some up on my desk to see what else you added to the outfit – with a hopeful look in her eyes.
