Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll, Violette, gets something summery!

I debated and debated about trying to get another 4th of July doll outfit made, but decided it was too close to the holiday to get it made, listed and sent to the winner.

So I decided I would just work on some outfits for Summer. It should be lots of fun… because I have lots of pretty summer fabrics.

I heard a soft voice whisper from the dolly shelf, “Have you forgotten about me?” It was Violette… and NO, I havent forgotten about her! She’s very excited to be the next doll up to model.

I made a “little” progress on her set and decided to do another crop top…
The fabric is a colorful dotted print and I added some cluny lace at the bottom.

I’m going to use a coordinating print for the bottom piece… a pretty blue mini print.

I hope you’ll keep an eye out for what’s to come…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Holy cow, Jeanne–TenPing’s ensemble has EIGHT bids already! And it’s only Wednesday!!

Barbara, here’s another sister who would like to see the photos of your 60 dolls!!

I had forgotten about sweet Violette; she is just lovely. I love the multi-dot fabric, too–it seems rather familiar! I will have to take a look.

I like the floral, too, but I’m not sure I’m “feeling it” with the two of them together. I think it’s too busy. I’ve been wrong before, though–will have to see what the “Jeanne Marie magic” will do!!

Russell came today!! There is rejoicing in our house!! (Well, maybe not from Ron….haha…)

Congrats on your delivery. šŸ™‚ The Russell headed here is, well not here. But, there is progress. He’s finally in town, but isn’t on a truck yet. So, we’ll see about arrival that should have been by yesterday. Ha ha.

    2. Hi Charlotte,
It appears Ten Ping’s outfit is making a bang for 4th of July lovers!! Yay!

I had those fabrics laid out last night and they looked fine… but I found a soft blue denim that I might use instead… we’ll see.
      Thanks for your input!

Congrats on Russell… he is very cute!
      Blessings, Jeanne

I’m sure my girls would all love to pose for a “class” picture. I’ll just have to figure out the best way to do it. I have them displayed on different shelves and on top of my TV/fireplace stand and on top of my treadle machine but no matter how I position them there are always some that I can’t see so I switch them around occasionally. But to take a picture of all of them will take a little thought. But in truth I’d like to have one for myself. Let me see what I can come up with.

Dear Charlotte, yeaaa! I am sure the other doll children are happy to see him. I am looking forward to hearing about his adventures.

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Violette is such a sweet looking doll! She has a wide-eyed look that makes her so appealing, even if she isnā€™t smiling, and oh, that hair! She will be the perfect little doll for a summery outfit, Jeanne!

Iā€™m not ā€œfeelingā€ those two patterns together either! Maybe you have some solid colored one to use with them to separate the two patterns? The top gives you a lot of colors to work with, but I am thinking that the two patterns are too close together in size to work. Now, I canā€™t say what you have in mind, and Iā€™m sure you have something, so I will wait to see what magic youā€™ll have up your sleeve before saying more!

And while we are waiting to see Barbaraā€™s 60 dolls, what is going on with your dolls, Joy? You always sent such cute pictures of your dolls, and havenā€™t recently.

    1. Hi Linda
I agree, Violette is very pretty and I need to pick her more often. She has such a sweet innocence about her.
I AM rethinking the fabric for the bottom… I think I’m going to use something else…
It sure is humid outside,, isn’t it’s?
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I’m with Charlotte, and Linda, on the two fabrics. But, maybe if a strip of the dots was added on top of the blue flowered, it might tie together better. Like a strip along the bottom of a skirt or accents on the bottom of a pair of shorts? I really like the top which would go with a number of solids that could also be accented with a strip of the dotted fabric. šŸ™‚ I also like the mini flowered fabric. Guess we’ll find out what Jeanne has in mind. I’m sure it will be lovely. šŸ™‚
Well, it looks like I actually have two dolls arriving here some time today via UPS. But, neither has made it Out for Delivery yet. One says delivery this morning and another by 7:00 tonight. Which it will be is questionable. Neither time is good as other person is sticking around like glue.
As to dolly photos, I have not had any free time to play. Recovering the yard has been cutting into anything else around here. Seeing George’s progress was definitely inspirational. šŸ™‚

    1. Hi Joy,
Well it looks like maybe I need to can the blue print fabric and go with something else. It seems like the consensus is that it’s too much like the top print. But I think I have “something” in my stash that will work just as well or maybe even better. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

I hope you manage to get both dolls safely into your house… at the “precise” time “someone” else is nspping! Wouldn’t that be great?
      Let us know what happens!
      Blessings. Jeanne

Dear Joy, yeaaa another caper. I can’t wait to hear how you pull this one off. I know you will, though.

To paraphrase Mission Impossible (the original TV series) Your Mission should you choose to accept it…good luck Joy!

  4. Loving the fabrics youā€™ve chosen, the floral looks like a soft blue until you get up close then you see the colorful matching detail! I think this will be cute and will let you choose any color for details like buttons, or bows shoes, hats, lovin it.

Happy first day of Summer all.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Well it looks like now someone is liking the small blue print. I may use it on some part of the outfit but maybe not totally for the bottom section. I hope you’ll like whatever I decide on. Thank you Dorothy Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Kathie from Omaha

The new outfit will be perfect for summer and Iā€™m with Dorothyā€¦I like those two together. Will be fun to see what developsšŸ¤šŸ¤—
My sister has come to live with us. We have always been close and she lived with her daughter for several years and has always spent time in summer and a month at Christmas with us so we are good at spending time together. She always has lots of activity so will be fun to have her. šŸ«¶

    1. Hi Kathie,
Well it looks like the first 3 comments were for changing the small blue print and the bottom 2 comments were for keeping it. So now I’ll have to decide which way I’m gonna go. Thanks for your input.
How wonderful that your sister gets to come and spend some time with you. I can’t imagine if Cindy and Deb came to spend a whole summer with me or even a month. Wouldn’t we have a lot of fun?
      I hope you do too!!
      Thanks Kathie!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Kathie, this is good news! I am looking forward to hearing some sister stories.

Violette and Dumpling Bailey are the two dolls that “got away” and I will lament that forever. Unfortunately I can’t do with them what I once did with a dress for my BAB Bunny that I didn’t buy and then it sold out. I managed to find that on eBay. Not so with the dolls, at least that I can afford. Violette reminds me of Jennifer Grey in “Dirty Dancing”. She had such a soft, gentle look about her and that’s what I see in Violette.

I love the top but wasn’t so sure about the other myself. But you said you have another idea of what to do instead. But I do love the blue fabric. I have that fabric in blue, yellow, green and pink and have used it for the “Bow Shoulder” dresses I make using a Kathy Anne Designs pattern. She has it in a lot of sizes and eventually most of my dolls will most likely have one. I love to make it because the dress always looks so summery.

Happy First Day of Summer to my Sofa Sisters. I mentioned it to Hubby last night and he said tongue in cheek, wonderful now it will finally start warming up. The forecast says we have at least another week of this high above us. Happens every summer and seems to last most of it.

    1. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Barbara, Victoria was the doll that got away for me. Sigh. I saw her for sale on ebay a while back but the vendor wanted a gazillion dollars. I didn’t even think about it. Oh, well. Maybe one day.

Happy first day of Summer to you from Pennsylvania!

    2. Kathie from Omaha

      Hi Barbara,
I read your comment about Violette looking like Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing and BINGOā€¦. I couldnā€™t put my finger on it but you hit it on the head! She sure does look like heršŸ¤šŸ˜‰

    3. Hi Barbara,
I didn’t want to leave you out… so here goes your comments from me.
I never in a million years dreamed I’d find Violette, but somehow I happened upon her at the right moment! I do love her looks! She is VERY sweet!
I might use the blue for something else, now that I’ve decided on possibly doing a pair of jeans.
I didn’t even remember it was the first day of summer. we had hot temps today… I’d like it to be mild a little while longer.
I hope you figure out some way to take pictures of all your 60 girls. We’ll be waiting for your pictures…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I love the soft blue fabric and when I enlarge the photo I see the dot fabric matches some of the center flower dots. I’ll just sit back and watch. The blue fabric is lovely.
Happy first day of summer to all the Sofa Sisters.

    1. HI Laura,
I think the blue fabric will work, but I just need to figure out for what piece! :o)
Happy first day of summer back to you!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Dorothy in PA and the World

Dear Jeanne, well you know I don’t have a clue about fabric patterns so I will leave those comments to the other sisters.

Violette is so pretty. She will look adorable in whatever outfit she wears.

    1. Thank you Dorothy,
You might not know fabrics, but you certainly know tea! Stick with what you know and love! :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne
