Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark and a little bit more…

REMINDER: Tonight is when Violette has to give up her purple coat…

I have just the thing to take her mind off of it… CHOCOLATE!
Oh, you didn’t know dolls liked chocolate? Why of course they do! They always have… you just didn’t know it!

The auction for the coat listed on Ebay ends this evening, so if you are looking for a doll coat for your Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll, you might want to take a peek at my listing… you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or you can click HERE.

Who is all done with their Christmas decorating, their tree, their baking, their shopping and wrapping, their Christmas cards sent out, etc? Well, certainly NOT ME! I remember saying last year that this next year was going to be different! Well, it certainly has been different… but I am trying not to stress… I’m just doing what I can each day and at the end of the day, if I cross 2 things off my list, I feel pretty good!

One thing I’ve missed since Rebecca got married and moved away, was the day(s) we spent baking for special occasions… We had so much fun baking cookies and putting them in little bags or boxes or tins… I have made a few things this year, for my post office clerks and our trash man… but that’s about it… UGH!

But it got me to thinking, if you need a REALLY good treat, how about my Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark…it’s easy to make and is very good… in fact a little too good… My hubby says it’s like Crack Cocaine… you can’t stop taking another piece… I’ll put the link to the post I featured it and if you follow my directions a pictures, you should be churning it out like a candy factory! :o)

I did some cooking today… I took a meal over to my Pastor and his family… but what I wanted to show you was the “dessert” I made them… We have a place here in town called Cool Spoons, where you can get a cup of ice cream, yogurt or sorbet and then they have LOTS AND LOTS of toppings… Here is a post about it…

COOL SPOONS!

I knew my Pastor and his boys and family probably wouldn’t want to go there yet, so I brought Cool Spoons to them. I bought a big Christmas box at Joann’s and filled it will all kinds of candies and toppings and then bought a big pail of vanilla ice cream. It’s the only thing I have new pictures of… I took some, so I’d have something to share with you… (I did get a pair of dress pants hemmed, but thought wasn’t much to look at!) Anyway, here is a great idea to copy if you know anyone who likes ice cream and toppings. It’s pretty fun trying to find ALL THE THINGS to use. I did think about bacon, but decided to pass. :o)

If you click on the pictures they will enlarge… look to see if you find your favorite candy! :o)

You don’t have to call it Cool Spoons in a box… You could call it “A Box of Sundaes.”

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I haven’t done Any baking this year (gee, I wonder why?!), but at least I did manage to snag both red and green candied cherries–I have a refrigerator cookie recipe that uses both, and it’s so pretty, when they are sliced and baked, to see both colors of cherries (they taste good, too!). Last year I looked everywhere and there was not a candied cherry to be found! I got mine at Walmart–around Halloween, if I remember right–so maybe I’ll get some made after Christmas. (If you’d like the recipe, let me know!)

I still need to write my Christmas letter and get cards out; I didn’t send Any last year, and I imagine a few people are wondering where we’ve been.

Love the idea of the sundae in a box–Ice cream (as we know!) can be a comfort food, in a way, plus this is a fun twist. It could be adapted to the tastes of the recipient(s), too. I’m sure your pastor and his family will be happy to have it.

Oh, I meant to add, yes, Barbara, I’m doing the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar. Our pastor and his wife get them for those of us who enjoy that sort of thing and have the computer or other device for it to work. I love doing the games, and things like making snowflakes and such!

Add me to another Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar fan that checks it out each day with some sort of fun activity! It makes December such a fun month!

Oh, your Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark is a Christmas staple here now since you first told us about it in the blog, Jeanne! So easy to make, and yummy to eat! My two granddaughters used to come over sometime before Christmas to help bake cookies and we added that to our “must make” list! We also would decorate a gingerbread house, but alas, with with college and high school activities, plus work in the mix, we aren’t quite able to do things like that anymore. I sure do miss those days, much like you miss baking with Rebecca.

Your pastor and boys will have a wonderful time with that box! I don’t think there is a thing in that box that I wouldn’t love to eat!

    Good morning.
That is one beautiful box of treasures to go with the ice cream, Jeanne. So thoughtful, festive and colorful, sure to add many elements of yum for that dad and kiddos. You are always extremely thoughtful and generous.
Thanks for the bark recipe and pics. I made our traditional peanut butter bonbons yesterday because I was feeling better.
Christmas here at our house, this year, is SO pared down, and I am loving it. Absolutely loving it. Once again I have found “less is more’” to be true. Letting go of some or many things reduces pressure and stress of having to live up to these crazy ideals so many of us “buy into” , and they just are not necessary. Wishing you that mentality and element of calm, my friend.
Wanted to say. I made your brownies in a jar for all my buddies. It was fun and they are pleased.
IF all goes well today, I can take some shots of some of my Rubies to send along for filler.
Have a great day everyone. It was 6 here, so I’m not sure of walking to the library for my volunteer work this morning. Can’t move fast enough!!! 😬

Good to see Jeanne is still busy helping others. From dinners to hemming pants her work never stops. 🙂
Around here, we’re still awaiting a soccer goal from England. Guaranteed to arrive yesterday, but a no show. I checked this morning and it made it up from LA to SF yesterday, so hopefully, it will arrive today. Guess one of us had better be here because we have to sign. 🙂
Very groggy today because about 1:00AM I awoke to a smoky smell. Turned out to be our neighbor’s firepit. Hate that thing. The whole house reeked, but fortunately, it is much better this morning. 🙂
We actually put up the tree yesterday. No ornaments, but lights. 🙂 Cards still to do. I’ll just write Happy New Year! And be done. 🙂 Keep warm everyone.

  6. Yes, Christmas is coming up fast here. I do have my Christmas cards sent. Have the smaller of the two trees up with lights and some unbreakable ornaments. Not doing the big tree with the glass ornaments and lead icicles this year as it must be kept in the sunroom with the door closed to keep the kitties safe and then they can’t go in which is no fun. No cookies baked, but my dad sent us a big box of lebkuchen, marzipan etc so baking no longer matters. 🙂 I’m with Sally in the less is definitely more camp. I’m loving the time for us just relaxing with a Christmas movie and kitty snuggles.

The box of treats will be so appreciated by your Pastor and his kids, Jeanne.
