Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Violette, gets a skirt…

Hi everyone,
Another busy day at my house, but I managed to get the piece I was hoping to get made, finished…

I’m planning on this being a “multi” piece set and hope this is a piece you’ll love. I found this piece of fabric on my fabric shelf that went really well with Violette’s blouse…

It was the beginning of the direction I was planning to take… then I decided maybe straps might be in order…

So yes, I made another pleated skirt, but this time I made knife pleats that go in one direction all the way around to the back. It’s another wrap skirt and fastens in back with 2 snaps.

I got to thinking about those straps and knew if I attached them to the skirt, it would limit the possibilities of what else I could make for this and how this could only be worn… so I did a little “strap making” experiment and came up with this…

Separate straps… they just slip over the dolls head, over her shoulders and snap at the crotch…

So it looks like this… when the skirt is added on top of the blouse and straps…

She can wear the blouse on the outside if she likes like this now…

You’ll have to wait and see what else is included…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Well, first of all, I Love that pleated skirt!! I really need to get my fabric pleater (as opposed to my smocking pleater, an entirely different thing) and see about doing something like that here. Anyway, the style is just wonderful. I’m not feeling the two prints together, though. Of course, you know I’ve said that in the past and it has turned out completely different from what I expected, and I ended up loving it.

But the straps…I would just have made them snap directly to the skirt at both ends, which would make them equally versatile without that funny “bump” between her legs (which must be uncomfortable! LOL)

Hm, I wonder if there will be boots…..

Oh, I really, really love that pleated skirt, Jeanne, but then I am particularly partial to pleated skirts! I love the two patterns together, and think they work out just fine. When I saw the blouse, it immediately reminded me of the one you made for Rozen, with the blue romper. Is that the same pattern?

As far as the straps go, I wonder why they are so long? I know, that two snaps versus 4 snaps is better, but they do seem like they are quite long and could be a bit shorter. I am thinking maybe a vest, boots, hat? It certainly looks very “October” to me! Love it!

    1. Clever clever way to make the straps! Would have never thought of that…cause they really don’t have to hold up the skirt….which is super adorable! Love the two prints together…the orange almost works as a solid and the fit is perfect on both of them as always. It will be perfect for Fall/Halloween. Whoever suggested a plain black simple top, maybe knit, to w/o with the skirt is a great idea too.
How about a witches hat for her?😉😳

I like the drop waist and pleats on the skirt. Since you are making several pieces, maybe a cute solid black top would be a fun piece to add. I’ve never seen straps done that way. Seems like they could just snap at the waist, but there must be a reason. I think I’d like to see Violette in her own wig in some photos and some outside shots too. Might tame the orange a bit. 🙂
No word on my dollies yet. Hope they are sent soon.

Dear Jeanne, what a clever way to make suspenders. It’s kind of like a mini bodysuit (laugh).

Orange is a pretty color for Violette.
