~ Victorian Times ~ for Samantha, is now listed on Ebay…

You may have already seen Samantha’s dress on Ebay, but in case you missed it, HERE is the link to it, or you can click the picture at the right side bar and be taken to it…

I managed to get it listed Saturday evening and early Sunday morning, before I was even out of bed, I got the first bid! YAY!

I mentioned in the listing I was going to find a mirror, a hankie and some lip gloss for Samantha to put in her reticule…
I remembered I had a tiny gold charm in the shape of a hand-held mirror so I used it. I glued a piece of foil on the backside to make it more “mirror-like!” I think it works. Then I took a hankie I had that had some stains on half of it, and since I need a full half to make an apron, I wasn’t going to be able to use that corner of the hankie, so I cut it up and fringed the edges… a perfect hankie for Samantha. Then I needed something that looked like it could be a lipstick case and I think this jeweled bead works fine for that… They will be tucked into her reticule… Here are a few pictures of the items…

You can see closely how I changed the reticule…removing the flower in the center of the gold heart charm AND the gold heart charm and replacing it with another gold flower basket charm. Then I added 3 pearls to the front and a tear drop bead at the bottom…

We had a nice photo shoot outside Saturday afternoon and I loved a couple of the pictures of Samantha in the natural light…

I guess it’s time to move onto the next dolly… As I look back on this dress for Samantha, that started out for Julie, I think it just might be in my top 5 for Samantha. Somehow it turned out to be better than I ever imagined…It is VERY pretty on her! Thanks for helping me figure it all out! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. I like the changes you’ve made to the reticule, Jeanne, and the little accessories are darling! Congrats on your first bid already, too!

I have to say, yours is possibly the prettiest Samantha doll I’ve seen. Lucky you!!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I’m glad it finally all came together!!!
      As far as my Samantha,
I must have looked at a hundred or more, before finally deciding on her. She was so pretty in the sellers pictures and I wasn’t disappointed when I opened her box…
      Thanks for noticing…

      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Linda in St. Louis

Jeanne, you outdid yourself with this listing! All those precious accessories to go inside the reticule, and the reticule itself! The changes you made are just perfect, and even the handle of the reticule looks like a pretty bracelet! That hankie is the perfect touch!

I happen to be watching Queen Elizabeth’s funeral now, so will close. What a beautiful service, fit for a queen! Of course!

    1. Thank you so much Linda,
I’m glad you like it! Samantha does too! It was nice to use up a few snippets of some vintage things!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Doreen J Crabtree

Absolutely love this whole outfit. The reticule is darling, love its shape, the laces and embellishments. The contents are darling as well. Kuddos to you for making such a beautiful outfit. Doreen in Arkansas

    1. Thank you, Doreen!
It started out with lots of things that weren’t working for me, but now that its done, I really like it. I really like it too, and Samantha is practically giddy about it!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Joy in northern CA

Congrats on the bid. Samantha has some lovely photos.
We actually had welcome rain yesterday. Nicely wet down everything. So unusual for September here, but then things are changing everywhere.
Has anyone been able to get their latest Covid booster? There appears to be a Moderna shortage here. No one from Kaiser has been able to explain it. However, they do have Pfizer.
    Have a great week everyone.

    1. Hi Joy,
So happy you got some much needed rain… you were certainly long overdue!
I haven’t heard anything about boosters here.
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. You have worked your way to make this a completely lovely ensemble. It has had lots of changes from start to finish and credit to you for making the ending auction so lovely. The sofa sisters make such interesting comments and ideas.
    Now you can take a breath….or not😉
I’m watching Queen Elizabeth’s funeral too. Love the pomp and circumstance. No one can do it like the British.
    Have a good week everyone🤗

    1. Hi Kathie,
Thanks to you, those little Forget Me Nots made another appearance in a most welcome way. I am happy with how this turned out too! I think its been so long since Samantha modeled for me, I think she has forgotten she doesn’t get to keep the dress…
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Jeanne, this is a lovely sweet dress for Samantha. The choice of colors you choose are really pretty on her.
So Victorian looking. It reminds me of an outfit for a very special occasion.

    1. I’m glad you like this dress, Paula!
It actually exceeded my expectations in the end… at the beginning of making it, I wasn’t sure it might not end up in the trash can!
Thank you for your kind compliments!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Such a lovely outfit and accessories. I guess we need to keep an eye out for locket type charms? Those would also make perfect compacts or for lip gloss! Next you’ll make an outfit with a chatelaine hanging. That Jeanne so clever.

I was watching the Queens funeral too. Feels like the whole world lost their grandmother.

    Have a good evening all.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
After searching my sewing room for goodies to use, I WILL be keeping my eyes open for little things to use in future reticules. It was fun looking for tiny bits and bobs… I’m glad you like how it all came together.
The Queen will be missed… she had such a kind presence whenever she was shown. I’m sure you are right….she was such a grandmotherly lady to everyone.
      Blessings ,Jeanne
