Ruby Red Fashion Friends Frieda, shows you her new batik romper set!

I was busy today, trying to get this newest romper set finished if possible… I think I’m done… but still need an accessory… Frieda says she likes Stella’s camera and might want one herself… we’ll see…

This batik print in the blue and green looks SO pretty on Frieda’s coloring… and when I added the white bodysuit, it REALLY shows off her tan…

Here’s what kept me busy today…

I added the straps to the romper and finished sewing the snaps on.

…and as you can see in my pictures, I made Frieda a white embroidered gauzy body suit… which makes it SO much easier to get her romper on. It just slides up and everything stays where it should…

I added a stretchy panty section to the top and it’s perfect. The back of the body suit closes with low profile velcro…

When I was working on Stella’s hat, I was trying to get a perfect sized hat for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls and I worked hard today, and after 3 attempts I achieved this one… I love how she wears it… oh, and I added one of my fringed flowers on it… just for Marilyn! :o)

Then I got to thinking about footwear… flip flops or sandals… I decided on flip flops and this is how they turned out…

Now, here are some pictures of the whole set…

Oh, I forgot to show you the back… Joy, I took note of what you said about the girls being long waisted but this is right where it hits on her hips and sets really nicely… I could maybe move the waist up a little bit…

Sorry, I thought we were done with pictures, but she kept saying, “just one more… please!”

Let me know what you think!
Blessings, Jeanne

Freida’s outfit is just darling, Jeanne. I love how you did the top/body-suit, with the panty section holding it down. It would work well for her to wear it with a skirt, also, I think!! (From my own experience, though, I would never wear a body suit in real life–did that when I was Much younger, and even then, and even with a snap crotch, I found it darned inconvenient any time “Nature” called!! 😂 Good thing our girls don’t need to worry about that!!

You know, the fabric you used for the romper and hat is really growing on me. At first, I thought, oh, well….but the more I see it, the better I like it! I think it would be very versatile, too–sportswear, yes, but would probably also work well for a dress or even a lightweight jacket.

The flipflops are a nice touch. I wonder what’s next?!

This is really a cute set, Jeanne! I like the idea of a body suit underneath the romper that makes it so easy to dress her. The hat is darling, and I like the flower to “dress” it up! Everything looks good, except those blue bows are kind of distracting to me. I wonder if it is just the way the color looks on my monitor. I know that sometimes, in real life, colors look good together, but when I take a picture, one of the colors looks glaringingly out of place. I wonder if a soft green ribbon would work better. All in all, what’s a ribbon, anyway? That can be an easy fix, and other than that, I have no complaints! Darling set!

Dear Jeanne, the outfit is so cute. I love the touches. The bows on her braids are sweet.

This is a perfect “end of Summer” outfit.

Freida sure looks sporty! What fun she’ll have taking her pup for a walk in the park. aka Jeanne’s backyard. 🙂 You’ve perfected those thongs so much. How were you ever able to get the edging put on this pair? Love the look on these. Can’t even find a seam. Is that something you can buy or did you make it? Would that trim work on Siblie thongs as well? The hat looks like a perfect fit and will certainly shield Freida’s pretty face from those pesky rays from the sun. 🙂
On another note, Pixie Faire has a very cute circle skirt, top, and sort of shorts free pattern today. I’d love to see Jeanne make a summer outfit for the bigger girls. It has so many possibilities. 🙂

I noticed that you spell Freida ie instead of ei. Since RRFF spells it ei, I wonder if that makes any difference in searching on Ebay for outfits? Maybe not enough of a difference to even bother with because the good thing is that these dolls can be named anything we want. Just didn’t want anyone to miss out on your listing. 🙂

Well, Jeanne, this shortall set is MUCH more to my liking. I came around a bit on the camo as a birdwatching outfit….and those pictures Stella took were prize-winning, but this is more my style. Great flip flops. My girls thought yours would be mighty nice to have on their feet. I agreed, but told them they were young and could go barefoot.
    The “Marilyn flower” is awesome.
So glad you are finding more time to be in your own special world of sewing. Hope George is doing super well. Pats to Reuben.
Dorothy in PA, thanks for the links you always provide. Hope you and your dolls are still going strong on the tea party circuit.
Karen, I hope you and your family are safe from that awful flooding.
    Hello Anne, Alina, and Susette.

    1. Karen from Kentucky

Thank you, Sally! We got some rain, but a lot of sunlight and no flooding here.

Yesterday I had a scare out in the shed. I saw a body curled up on top of my canner on the shelf and looked closer, and it was a huge snake! I hurried to get my husband. He came with a hoe, but couldn’t grab it, and it slithered somewhere else in the shed! I heard it rattling its tail like another snake did in Missouri, but J thinks it was a rat snake. I really, really don’t want a snake in there because that is where the extra girl clothes are stored and some containers are not shut tightly. I need to go back out there to bring in the baby’s clothes before she arrives! It must be after mice. Does anyone know how to trap a snake? I hate having the ongoing fear of something so creepy hiding in our things ready to harm us!

      1. Sally from Colorado

Oh, Karen! So glad you’re safe, but that snake?? Yuck! Have your hubby go get that box of baby clothes and open it up in the sun, then dump it out. You be careful, mama!

          1. Linda in St. Louis

Karen, I had somewhat of a snake scare earlier this spring. It was a rather large black snake that came out of nowhere onto the patio while I was working. They are good to have, but gee, it did scare me! I was able to get up and when I did, it startled the snake who did its best to get away from me, and slithered off as fast as he appeared. Haven’t seen him or her since, but I know they are there. There must be something he is finding to eat, so yes, it could be mice or voles.

      2. Joy in northern CA

So glad you escaped the flooding. As to that snake, if I was ever to see let alone get close to one, there would be screaming. I can’t even stand to see a big lizard. They freak me out. The smaller ones, not so much. So much for the wildlife report. 🙂

        1. Karen from Kentucky

Glad you got away from it safely, Linda! That would be scary!

Joy, the other week we were at the pet store and I was looking at this small white lizard which was very ugly. Suddenly another one like it appeared and the first one attacked it and was chewing on its head. It was very strange. They did have neat ones that changed colors though.

          1. Joy in northern CA

Oh, that does it for me today. No more lizards or snakes. I’ll probably have a nightmare. 🙁
Our daughter lives near open space which houses, you guessed it, rattle snakes. They have had many in their fenced yard. They invested in a snake grabber. It is some kind of a thing where you can grab the snake by the neck, hold it, and then drop it into a garbage can. Then, the wildlife people can be called, and they come and pick it up to relocate far away. 🙂

I’ve only seen garden variety snakes on our property but the previous owner once ran into a copperhead. We have a large freshwater lake here in town and recently the property was purchased for an RV park. I wonder if they have warned the people who stay there that we have water moccasins around here. I wouldn’t be surprised if some reside around that lake. But no one mentioned one of the things that people have to watch out for around here and that’s Alligators. Since detention ponds are required when developing here for drainage purposes, gators manage to find their way into residential areas to enjoy the detention ponds and lakes and often find their way into backyard swimming pools and some of them are really huge.

Dear Sally, thank you for asking. Yes, I am still enjoying taking tea with my dolls. I will have to send Jeanne some photos to share.

  6. Right in the middle of summertime this outfit is just so sweet. I’m not sure how you choose your fabric but this is perfect for the style. That hat and Freidas personality certainly go together . The white body suit is such a clever way to keep the tail of the top in place…and of course the flip flops are great.
Have a good start to the weekend everyone☺️

  7. Freida’s little romper is more to my taste as well. She looks cool and ready for a tropical vacation. The sweet hat will keep the sun at bay.
