More for the Civil War dress set…

I had a REALLY busy day when I woke up Thursday morning. I had made 3 pair of flip flops for the 14.5″ Ruby Red Fashion Friend dolls and decided I needed to get them listed in my Etsy shop. When I woke up this morning, all 3 had sold… so I packaged them up and while doing so, one of the buyers asked if I could also make a pair of brown Siblie’s flip flops… so I did.

I had to go to town to pick up something for my hubby and I mailed them… When I got to my next stop, my phone dinged and I had sold one of the RRFF doll slip sets from my Etsy shop.

On my way to my last stop in town, my phone dinged again and I had sold a pair of sandals for the Effner Little Darlings dolls.

So when I got home, I had to package up those 2 things and of course my auction ended so I had to box that up as well.

I barely had time to do anything else, but managed in between things to get Rebecca’s slip made… it’s not your typical crinoline but it works very well with this dress and does a nice job of holding out the skirt of her dress.

Sorry, but Rebecca has no “proper underpinnings.”

I wanted to show you how far it is off the floor.

Here it is under her dress…

I wanted to figure out her hair and what might go with it, and came up with a pretty snap clip bow for the back of her hair. I sort of twisted it on the sides and pulled it back together and curled the ends around the bottom of the bow. The bow can be clipped any where the winner wants.

I think it was Joy who wanted to see some pictures of Rebecca with the fan up near her face… Since the AG dolls aren’t articulated, this was the best I could do…

I know several of you asked about the bow being changed to black. I didn’t use a black ribbon because it didn’t show off the button… however if the winner would like it changed to black, I can do that…

What a pretty dress this turned out to be…

Well, it’s time for me to get to bed… I’ll probably be wrapping things in my sleep! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

WOW Jeanne! You were a selling machine today…Good for you! If I do declare for myself Rebecca looks absolutely stunning in that dress!(A little bit of Southern speech for your Southern dress🙂) Even though I wanted to see you make a bonnet I like the bow in the hair! One day I hope you take requests! 🙏

Well today is my birthday! It is going to be a great day! I am probably getting some AG items and over the weekend I will probably take pictures and see if I can E-mail them to Jeanne if that is okay and she asked me to introduce myself a little so I will try and do that.

Does anyone know if picture from your IPhone transfer easily to a Window computer?

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Happy birthday, Lauren! Hope you have a wonderful day, filled with your favorite things!!

    2. Theresa from Indiana

Lauren – Yes, it’s very easy to transfer photos from your phone to your computer. Just use your iphone charging cable and plug it into your computer (assuming your computer has USB ports). It should automatically open up a program on your computer that will guide you how to transfer photos.

    3. Theresa in Indiana

I tried to post this earlier, but it didn’t show up. Not sure why… so will try again.

Happy Birthday, Lauren! Yes, it is easy to transfer photos from your iphone to your computer, as long as your computer has a USB port. Using your phone’s charging cable, plug it into the computer USB port. A program should pop up on your computer that will instruct you how to transfer photos. I do it all the time. 🙂

Happy Birthday Lauren! I have another method of transferring photos from my phone. I email them to myself . When the photos appear in my inbox I click on each one, then click on the download arrow, select “pictures” from the left side, then save. I hope you enjoy your day.

    4. Barbara Owen Haring

Hi, Lauren. Happy Birthday! Have a great one. Would love to see your pictures.

    5. Sally from Colorado

Sounds like you are excited about your special birthday. That’s really wonderful. Happy birthday, Lauren. 🎈🎂

    6. Happy Birthday, Lauren! Yes, i also email photos to myself from my phone all the time. Then I add my text and hit forward to send them to Jeanne or whoever I’m sharing them with. If you care about them being in one email you can then “snip” them all and send them to “pictures” and then open a new email and hit the paperclip looking icon at the bottom to load them, I never bother with this because it’s an extra step and takes a lot of extra time that I don’t have.
I’m looking forward to your pictures and hearing about your dolls.

    7. Happy birthday from me too, Lauren! See, I told you I had the greatest ladies on this blog! We all are happy for each other and share our love of dolls!
I hope you can figure out how to do the pictures so we can see what you got for your birthday! :o)
      Thanks Lauren,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Happy Birthday, Charlotte! It looks like you have a fun weekend ahead, and I am looking forward to pictures! No idea on transferring iPhone pictures to a Window computer.

Rebecca looks beautriful, Jeanne, and that slip is just perfect, if not what one would actually wear back in “those days”! I like the overall effect it gives.

You know, I was hoping for a fancy black headpeice, maybe with a black feather, but maybe that would be more for an adult. Rebecca is a little girl, and the bow is perfect for her. No telling how the new owner has her doll’s hair, so the bow is the way to go. This is going to be a lovely set for a lucky someone!

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Linda, did you mean Happy birthday Lauren? Mine isn’t until January! ☺ But, I usually post first (and didn’t this time–can’t believe I’m posting third, but it’s been Than kind of a day…), so that might be why!

      1. Linda in St. Louis

Oh my goodness, yes, I mean Happy Birthday Lauren! I must not have been all awake! Charlotte is usually the first poster, and I just assumed (incorrectly), that it was Charlotte posting first! Please excuse me Lauren, and you too, Charlotte, for making you older than you are!

        1. Barbara in SE Texas

I almost did this too but since I was later in posting the ones before me gave me a clue. Whew! I sometimes think it’s Charlotte commenting first when it’s really you.

    2. HI Linda,
Well, the petticoat might not be authentic to the Civil War era, but I can guarantee you this… it’s much lighter and cooler than what they wore!
I just got the dress set listed on Ebay… a bit later than normal, but listed, none the less! Have a wonderful weekend!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Charlotte Trayer

First of all, Jeanne, congrats on the successful auction of “Monkey Business”, and also the sale of various of your flipflops and sandals on Etsy!! That’s terrific.

I can see why some were wishing for a hat of some kind–maybe one with a black feather–but, as Linda mentioned, Rebecca is a young girl, and the bow is more age-appropriate.

It’s been a long long day today, with unexpected things we didn’t need, happening around here, some involving multiple loads of wash. Our son came down to try to unclog the bathroom drain, but had no luck. The clog is definitely Not in the p-trap, so at least we found that much out. The plumber will be here Saturday.

On a good note, out grandson Isaac stopped in for a visit, and was here about a half hour. Nice to see him again!

And, I got an apron and two tops (all for ME!!) cut out tonight.

    1. Charlotte Trayer

Meant to add, Barbara, congrats on the addition of some new dollies to your family! Would love t see pictures, when you get a chance!

      1. Barbara in SE Texas

I’m about to take some pictures anyway so I’ll wait until Claudia arrives, That’s her name and I don’t have a Claudia so her name remains, She is on her way. She is totally adorable and I love that she is articulated. I’ve been wanting an articulated Little Darling, but I think they’ve priced me out of the market on that one.

    2. Sally from Colorado

Oh, Charlotte. What a horrible headache. I do hope the plumber gets you set straight for a LONG time. Three cheers on the apron and tops. Working on them will help take your mind off your troubles, and I really, really want to see that apron, especially. I wear aprons and love them. Sending hugs and best thoughts.

    3. Debbie in North Carolina

Charlotte I am happy for your grandson’s visit to balance that annoying plumbing issue. Kudo’s on the new pieces just for you!

    4. Thank you Charlotte,
It was nice that the dress is going to someone whom I think had a Sock Monkey collection. She emailed me and I think that’s what she meant when she said it would be perfect with her collection! Since it was themed a Sock Monkey dress, I’m assuming that’s what she meant!

Oh no, not the dreaded clogged drains! EEK!
Nice to hear you are getting some sewing things lined up!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Karen from Kentucky

Congratulations on selling a lot, Jeanne! I love Rebecca’s dress, especially the black lace stuff toward the bottom.

My father in law has been temporarily moved to a skilled nursing facility to recover after his surgery with his many needs. I am happy someone is taking care of him with more skills than we have.

Happy Birthday to Lauren! I hope you have a wonderful time shopping for American Girl items! That sounds like one of the best ways to spend one’s birthday! =D

    1. Thanks for your kind compliments on Rebecca’s dress, Karen. I managed to get it listed on Ebay too1 Yay!
I’m glad you were able to get some professional help for your father in law… taking care of someone can be quite a task… I hope he does well there.
      Thank you again,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Joy in northern CA

I just knew that your sandals for the Siblies and others would be big sellers. Sounds like the word is out about your Etsy shop as well. Yay. 🙂
So glad you snapped more photos of the fan. I couldn’t see the detail yesterday, but it is lovely and so intricate. Perfect with the dress. I like the bow for the hair and the fan as anything heavier would appear to weigh down this sweet girl, especially, in the hot weather of the day without air conditioning. 🙂 I think fans should go in Jeanne’s Shoppe as well.
Have you thought about making dresses like Rebecca’s for the smaller RRFF doll? I wonder if some collectors might welcome a change from the usual?
For this morning so might be a work in the yard kind of day. 🙂

    1. HI Joy,
It’s almost been overwhelming selling so many shoes (and making them!) I think I just sold my 43rd pair this morning… yikes! That’s a lot of shoes from the day I showed them on my blog…
I guess I’ll regroup over the weekend and see what I can come up with to replenish my stock in my Etsy shop. It looks pitiful now!
Fans? I have to stop somewhere… I was debating about if I needed to designate certain days of the week for making certain items… Saturday – Shoes, Friday -Slips, Monday – Dresses, Tuesday – Selling things, etc… not sure if I could stick to something like that… my days are always too interrupted, so probably not.
I think I need a clone of myself… seriously! Well, not really… but I’m about ready to ask my hubby if he thought he could help me out with something… actually he has been doing more dishes lately than I have… yikes!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Happy to see that your sales are keeping you hopping. I have noticed an uptick in activity on both ebay and etsy of doll items, especially AG outfits and accessories. The move and year long wait for my Little Darling have kept me from making many purchases. Little Darling was finally shipped last week – to my old address. She is now missing in the postal lost and found. I am distracting myself from worrying by watching you sew these delightful creations for our dolls. The civil war era dress is just right in my opinion. I prefer seeing the AG dolls dressed age appropriate. The hair bow keeps it from becoming too adult.

    1. Sally from Colorado

Oh, Debbie, my heart is breaking for you. Perhaps most of us have had a similar postal experience, but I would think if the box was not deliverable, they would return it to sender with the return address? Well, dear lady, I am sending all my best thoughts and energy your way. Lots of hugs, too.

      1. Debbie in North Carolina

Thanks Sally for you kind thoughts and positive energy. If it wasn’t 100 degrees everyday I would be a lot more “chill” about it. Pun intended.

    2. Barbara in SE Texas

Saying prayers that you and your new dolly will be united soon. Losing any doll is difficult to handle, but a Little Darling, after waiting so long, is unimaginable.

      1. Debbie in North Carolina

Thank you Barbara. Your prayers are appreciated. When I ordered her last July the wait time was 6-8 months and we had not even found a house to buy so no worries. The wait time was extended and we moved. My tracking said she was forwarded to an address on file. The trail went cold after that and my local post office was not too helpful or sympathetic. I miss my Knoxville post office – they were always helpful and I did not have one lost package in 11 years.

    3. Hi Debbie,
Yes, HOPPING is the right word for my life right now… things are definitely hopping. I’m almost ready to hop off…
Oh, I’m so sad that your doll might be lost… I sure hope she finds her way to your new house and soon! I will pray for her to arrive as quickly as she can too! I bet my sewing isn’t really distracting you… but I hope so… I just listed the Civil War dress on Ebay a little while ago…
      Thank you Debbie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    4. Oh my… how could they lose your long awaited Little Darling!? That is wrong on so many levels😵‍💫 I’m so sorry! Hopefully it will be scanned at some other location and find its way to you🙏🏻

  7. Love Rebecca’s outfit. It’s very fancy and elegant. I picture in my mind, a summer evening party with many guests, and which ever young lady wears your outfit, she will be so charming and lovely standing next to her parents, welcoming the family’s guests into their home.

    1. HI Paula,
Well, you got the story line right as far as the guests go… I said she was going to a summer BBQ… I was going to try the dress on Addy and maybe a blond headed doll, but just decided I needed to get her listed so I used the pictures of just Rebecca.
      Thanks for your compliments, Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Sally from Colorado

Jeanne, this dress is absolutely lovely and some gal will be mighty proud to own it. Congratulations on your huge success with shoes and slips on Etsy, too. Finally, right?

Well, a few days I posted how jumping jolly happy I was that hubby was going to be traipsing off on a 6 day back country hike and how I was looking forward to getting out the old AG furniture and scene books to set up scenes with my RR’s on the dining table. Now all next week is going to be thunderstorms so he is trying to persuade the others to call it off. So not only do I not get to have this fun, the dogs will be a mess all week day and night. None of those “calming music” sites have helped.

    Big. Fat. Ugh. Boo. Hiss.

Hot spell and warmer nights here. On the bright side, the drought is over in our county.
All the best to all of you. Hope George is feeling very encouraged, Jeanne. Try to stay cool.

I’ve had a few of those disappointments myself when I thought David was going to be working out of town and then the job either didn’t come through or the dates changed. Mostly for me though it’s about the joy of not having to concern myself with what to eat for dinner and being able to do whatever I want to do uninterrupted.

    2. Debbie in North Carolina

Disappointing to lose your 6 days of fun with your dolls. Hopefully those thunderstorms will be bring some cooling temps and the backpacking trip will quickly be rescheduled! I don’t guess noise canceling headphones work for dogs.

    3. Thank you Sally!
I just listed it on Ebay and hopefully someone will want to see their doll dressed in it!
I never dreamed I could be so busy making little sandals and flip flops and people would be coming back for seconds and thirds on them… I guess I hit this just at the right time… although I’ve been a little too busy to suit me..

Oh, I’m so sorry about your hubby’s trip being postponed and your dolly fun canceled too! That’s not much fun for either of you… and now your doggies are going to be a mess with storms coming through… you should all just sit down and have a good cry!
      Thanks Sally,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Really love this stunning outfit. Does it come in my size? Seeing the fan in more detail was great. The hairbow is perfect and the hairdo goes great with the bow. I love Paula’s scenario.

Must go now. Skyy is here by himself today. Jaiden is shopping with her mom and her mom’s friend. Girls day out. Well except for Azure who lets his mother go nowhere without him. I’ve been promising Skyy for months I would play chess with him so, since only two can play, today seems a good day for that.

    1. HI Barbara,
Congrats on your new dolls coming too.. .I looked to see if I could see the doll you got but not that you said her name is Claudia, I might go back and look and see if I can find her. You are going to love her!
Thanks for the compliments on Rebecca’s dress set. I managed to get it listed on Ebay this evening… She’s going to a BBQ… it’s a party… so I guess that’s pretty much like Paula suggested.
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Rebecca’s outfit is lovely and even though the slip isn’t period accurate it does hold out her dress perfectly. In lieu of a bonnet the bow still keeps her looking like a young girl. The lace at the bottom truly “makes” the dress unique. I love Paula’s scenario as well.

    1. Thank you Laura,
I’m glad you like Rebecca’s dress. I wish everyone could see this one in person. It really is beautiful… I still haven’t figured out where the lace came from, but I guess it doesn’t matter. It is just beautiful too.
      Thank you Laura… have a wonderful weekend…
      Blessings, Jeanne
