13 WOW’S and 1 AMAZING!

DON’T FORGET:
The sweet little Monkey Business Dress set for the 12″ Siblies, Ruby Red Fashion Friends, ends this evening. (Thursday) You can click on the picture at the right side bar to be taken to Ebay and view it, or you can click HERE.

Sorry, I had to use that for my title today… I don’t think I’ve had that many Wow’s on a dress EVER! Thanks for starting the “trend” Linda! My heart just swelled with all your wonderful compliments and ideas for what might come with it…

Well, my date with my sewing machine wasn’t as long as it was yesterday, but I still managed to get a few things finished…

I think it was Joy who suggested possibly adding some black piping around the edges of the sleeves, so I made some more and added it on by hand, stitching it to the inside cuff.

Then I think it was Kathie who suggested a fan to keep away some of the heat, and I liked that idea, so I came up with a black fan…

We certainly needed a fan outside this afternoon. I took these pictures around 5:00 this evening and the sun was going down, but the heat index was 113 out there. As soon as I opened the door, the heat hit us and I knew it was going to be a VERY QUICK photo session!

But you can see how pretty she looks in the soft aqua/minty color. My hubby LOVES this dress! :o)

The sun was shining through the trees and I think it looks lovely on the black lace.

I still haven’t gotten a slip or crinoline made or her hair figured out yet… but she still looks so pretty outside!

I love these last 2 pictures…on the fountain again… there’s something special about taking pictures there…

Well, I’ll see what happens tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne

OH, yes, the added piping on the sleeves adds a lot. And I love the fan–just a perfect touch!!

I see that “Monkey Business” has two bids now. I wonder if we’re going to end up with a bidding war? I’ve found out you can’t always tell in advance, from watching your past auctions.

I had no idea that I was starting something yesterday, Jeanne, but when I scrolled down to see the entire dress for the first time, all I could think of was Wow! I see that I was not alone!

I like the piping on the sleeves too, gives them definition. That little fan is adorable, but I do doubt it will do much in this heat! Yesterday, in late afternoon, early evening, my car thermometer read 103 degrees! I think I would have had the vapors if I was dressed like Rebecca outside! No wonder ladies fainted so much long ago! Amazingly, Rebecca looks cool as a cucumber and ready to conquer anything along the way! She does need somethng in her hair to balance the lace on the skirt, and I’m sure you will find the perfect piece!

  3. This dress is so pretty and I love the fan! It makes me wish I had an American Girl doll! But I have plenty of other dolls and do not need more!

Hurrah for the black piping. It was Joy who first mentioned it. The fan is exquisite. I think the only thing that sticks out to me as being “off” is that ribbon. All the other accents are black. That color bow might be more effective being black. My two cents.
Have a wonderful day, ladies. Stay inside and cool.

Hi ho, I did say something about adding black on the sleeve cuffs yesterday, but Sally mentioned the piping, which is a definite plus. Looking good, but I too wonder about the aqua ribbon noted by Sally. Didn’t want to comment about it yesterday as Jeanne didn’t want any negatives (and here’s a double), but I would like to see black ribbon with the button. Maybe it won’t work, but I think it will. 🙂 I’d also like a photo with the fan held up more toward her face. Hard to see all of the detail in it. And after the heat, she might need a black parasol as well. Probably hard to find though. I love the photos with that golden glow of evening. Just lovely. A warning to Jeanne, and everyone, stay out of the heat. We don’t want more heat exhaustion. 🙂

I, also, love the black piping on the sleeves. I wasn’t sure the sleeves “needed” it, but now that I see it done, I think it looks great. And the fan, could we have a tutorial on making a fan? I haven’t a clue. It’s beautiful. I got curious about the parasol idea, so I did some checking and there are some doll parasols on the internet, I didn’t check the prices and doubt they would be cheap enough to buy for a doll outfit that will be auctioned. Maybe not a good return on investment.

Well, I did it. I have not really had a case of dolly fever in a long time while awaiting the arrival of my LD Amelia Dawn this fall. But put a little money in my pocket and the unexpected happens. I was looking for a Mini Paola Reina and while doing that I found a doll I could not resist. She is a 13″ Paola Reina and she is articulated. I didn’t even know they had them articulated. Not to mention that she is adorable. Hitting the “buy now” button was a no-brainer since there was only one like her available. I also bought two Mini Paolas to add to my small doll group. I have a plan for a back-to-school photo shoot that requires small dolls and I’ve been wanting a Mini Paola for a long time and finally found some that are new. I checked eBay but couldn’t seem to find any that didn’t look like they’ve been “over loved”. One had hair so messed up she would have done well for a “fright night” Halloween photo shoot.

David and the boys are about to start building our laundry room/2nd bathroom addition. During the first years of our marriage we always had an indoor laundry room but the place we’ve lived the longest has the washer and dryer in the garage. Doing the laundry in the summer is unbearably hot – like a sauna. In the winter it can be really cold and I have had the water lines freeze up a time or two. Not to mention if you drop something on the floor. Keeping the garage as clean as an indoor laundry room is impossible, especially when the garage is on the north side of the house and even with the doors closed when a norther comes through the dust finds all the cracks and crevices – and the top of my washer and dryer. If the doors are open you get a garage full of dried leaves. I’m waiting in anxious anticipation for the completion of this project, but I know it will take a little longer than the driveway – which we are totally enjoying.

  7. Missed being here yesterday, but the lace on the bottom certainly “makes” the dress, The piping on the sleeves was an excellent call by Sally and Joy. I also agree with Sally about the neck ribbon being black to pull everything together. The black fan is the perfect accessory. Super suggestion, Kathie! In fact, everyone suggested what I would have myself.
Rebecca needs a bonnet to shade her face.

  8. Glad the fan idea worked out🤗 and what a beautiful one you made! No wonder she looks so cool😄
The piping is just the thing the sleeve needed too. The. Skirt has just the perfect amount of fullness and shows off the lace very well. Humm …so what is going to go in her hair?

The more I look at it, the more beautiful it becomes. You have outdone yourself, and that is no mean feat, because everything you make is lovely. Just stunning.

I think the mint green ribbon 🎀 with your antique button goes perfectly well Jeanne! I think your fan is impeccable! I would like to see a bonnet though, but that is just my opinion. I would LOVE 💕 to wear that dress to an evening gala in summer!!!!

Oh and Jeanne I got my outfit yesterday in the mail! It is very cute! I just love sweaters in the fall and winter! It is a very cute outfit! Thank you very much!

Interesting the ‘minty’ color is showing in photographs with no problem🤗
