Here is a picture of the REAL color of the felt on Bitty Bethany…

Oh no! I’ve done it again… picked a fabric that’s going to be murder to photograph!

Several of you mentioned the color of the jacket being too dark for the fabric… I guess when I see it in my pictures, I just think to myself, “that’s not the real color, so it won’t matter… the winner will love the true color it is…” BUT, I have to remember that someone HAS TO LIKE the color, even if it’s wrong to want to buy it…

I had made a dress for my Helen Kish 11″ Bitty Bethany doll years and years ago and looked up the pictures I took of her when she was wearing a dress and wool felt jacket made from the same fabrics… I thought I’d show you what the “real” color of the wool felt and the corduroy looks like. I don’t know why my phone camera can’t capture just how it looks… but my old camera did apparently!

See how absolutely gorgeous this fabric is…

So here is the rose colored felt jacket cut out and a picture of Bitty’s jacket…

I worked on something else beside the jacket, thinking about what to do the whole time… I hemmed Noel’s dress and added some little buttons on the back and sewed on the snaps…

THEN… I took another look at my wool felt and found a different piece that works well with the fabric…it’s in the blue/seafoam green category…in my opinion… and guess, what the same thing happened with it… It got it all decorated with lots of silk ribbon embroidery and put it on her, thinking it was perfect…and look what happened…

It looks turquoise… but it’s not… it’s more of a pretty seafoam blue/green…

Oh well, I’ll have to try and get better pictures before I list it. Anyway, here is how it looks…I’m not finished with it but this is how much I got done today…

Right before I called it a day, I laid the wool felt and the new jacket I had just finished on the dress and took a picture of it from a different angle… sort of skimming over the top of it… and it’s closer, but not quite the color.

So that’s what happened today in my sewing room! :o) We’ll see if anything happens tomorrow! :o)

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Hm, maybe you’re going to have to go back to your old camera to get pictures that truly represent certain colors, at least for a few of the pictures.

Bethany’s outfit was certainly pretty, though, and it really was a good pink with that print, but I think the blue might be an equally good choice. It’ll be interesting to see how this one progresses!

I see you’re up to 7 bids on Swedish Sweetness already! It’s a winner, for sure!

What a dilemma here, Jeanne! It seems that each picture is different than the other, and now the blue of the corduroy is completely gray! The second to last picture shows it as a pretty blue, but when paired with the pink and blue jackets, it turns gray on my monitor!

When you show the pink jacket on Bethany, it does look more muted and not so glaring, but maybe that is because it is decorated and not plain. When I mentioned a blue jacket yesterday, I was thinking of a softer blue, like an eggshell blue, not aqua, which these pictures show, at least to me! I guess it all in picture taking, and I know that you know how to do colors!

Two jackets might be cute for the one jumper, or maybe another jumper for someone else? At least you do have all day today and tomorrow to figure it out, and I am sure you will!

    Hi, Jeanne,
I was really saddened to hear about your sewing room roof leaking after all that work to eliminate the problem. Certainly sounds like it was put to the test in spades with all that rain. Hoping for an easy solution.
I have zero problem with the pink jacket, but not at all happy with the sea foam. Ah, we are all so often different in our preferences here, aren’t we? But perhaps it’s another situation like that mint outfit of yours I bought last year for LD. The pictures just didn’t do the real color justice. And it was so, so pretty and perfect.
    Have fun today creating!

Okay, make the pink jacket just like Bitty’s, as well as that sweet hat. Do you have any of those matching buttons left as they seem to be the right color to tie Bitty’s jacket to the jumper. And I like the bluish stitching around the edge which also ties to the jumper perfectly. I’m not going for the blue at all. The blue has a turquoise tinge which would also be lovely with the right fabric. Do you have something else in your stash to make a dress to go with it? Personally, I would go with the pink but only if the buttons and border trim can pick up the background color of the jumper. I’m sure both jackets will be lovely. How’s the outdoors looking? Maybe a little spring snow might make a good photo and get the colors right? I do love that jumper fabric. 🙂
And, good news, yesterday, just for the heck of it, I checked the tracking number for my package that has not been heard from since December 7th. It was even taken off of Informed Delivery because of the length of delivery time. What an eye opener. Ninja tracking said that there was a scan Feb 15th. What? No notification here at all. Said ever so briefly that it was in the U.S.A. But, where? Customs? And where has the package been since December? Later, I received an email that the package had arrived in San Francisco. And another that it had left S.F. So, guess we’ll see if the wayward package arrives here. This is not the fault of the U.S.A. post office, but that of Europe. Last scan was in Germany. Interesting.

And RRFF Alexandra has arrived shaken, but safe and sound. Of course, her box came in a huge gray plastic shipping envelope with all of the paperwork taped to the front including, the price, in huge numerals. Of course, other person was jolly on the spot and brought her in, I might add very unhappily. Even though I said that she had been ordered in November, didn’t help a bit. Alex is exhausted, thirsty, and hungry. What a long mystery trip she has just endured. So glad she finally made it. 🙂

Dear Joy, I am glad that Alexandra is home safe and sound. I bet she has many stories to tell.

You will have to tell Other Person that she is a foreign exchange student and has come to study American culture (chuckle).

I guess I’m not as visual as others but either one is pretty. I need a cataract removed and they say your color perception changes. Maybe that is my issue?
Looking forward to all the accessories… the slip… the tights and maybe a hat?
    Enjoy your Sunday🤗

The biggest surprise for me after cataract surgery was color perception. Green was the most notable because it was obviously muddied or yellowed. Having one eye done before the other, you’ll be able to really tell the difference. I had had no idea it was even a problem. I also aged at least 15 years due to not being able to see the lines on my face until after the surgery! I’ll never get over that.

Oh… I loved your reply Suzette! Maybe not having it done is what I’ll do…lots more wrinkles is not what I was looking forward to. My friends husband noticed how much different pink looked….that would be better🤗😉

      2. Charlotte Trayer

For me, my main problem was depth perception (before cataract surgery). I could see the end of the thread, and I could see the eye of the needle, and never the twain shall meet! LOL

Now when Ron had his (a number of years ago), I was getting hourly updates for a while about how much brighter things were! LOL I later found out the he had waited SO long to have his cataracts taken care of, the doctor told him, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be allowed to drive any more!!

I made a mistake in my recommendation for removing the spot on the RRFF doll’s face. I didn’t state that the sponge I used was the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge, not Mr. Clean on a sponge. I just barely wet the tip of the sponge and it worked great after two tries. I could only recommend it for the RRFF dolls but would certainly do a test before using it on any other type of doll.

I started to comment on the jacket but decided to be an observer instead. I’m sure you’ll get it solved as you always do. Have fun. 🥰

Dear Jeanne, I like both of the jackets. The dress fabric is very pretty. Noel looks adorable in everything you make for her.
