Ruby Red Fashion Friends Christmas dresses…DONE!!!

Can you believe it? I almost can’t! I had a Food Pantry meeting this morning and got home about 11:15. Then I changed clothes and started helping my hubby on the window. It was nothing short of insane…but we’ve come to expect things like this on our home projects. We worked on it until about 5:00 and couldn’t believe we managed to put the level on it and it was perfect!!! Absolutely perfect!!

Here are a few shots along the way… putting the flashing around the window…

My hubby’s expertise made this happen… one hand at a time… the other one holding on…

It’s a cute little window that even opens up for easy cleaning! Love those grills! :o)

My picture might look crooked, but that window is dead on level! :o)

We had a beautiful day and that helped. The outside is all finished but my hubby was pooped from being on those ladder rungs for hours at a time and the inside can wait to be finished sometime later. I was on the inside of the window giving him tools, running to the garage for things and occasionally wrapping my arms around his body through the window when he “absolutely HAD” to use both hands at once. It helped him feel a little more steady and balanced.

After we realized the window project was a done deal, I scurried off to the computer and began frantically working on my listings for the long awaited Ruby Red Fashion Friends. I managed to get them listed too! HALLELUJAH! I didn’t think it was going to happen and we actually didn’t eat dinner until 9:15…

I listed them 5 minutes apart starting at 8:30p.m. Sunday evening…Central Standard Time zone.

I thought maybe you’d like to have the links to the dresses, so here they are…

Christmas Berries (shown on Sara)

Christmas Gold (shown on Stella)

Christmas Plaid (shown on Rozen)

You can also click on the pictures at the right side bar and connect to the auctions.

Well, I am going to call it a day…it’s now 1:08 and I’m beat!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

The new window looks Wonderful!! Adding the strips makes it look like it belongs with the other windows of your wonderful old house. Another successful home project!!

Congrats on getting the three auctions listed! And they each have one bid already!! Woohoo!!!

Have to let you gals know, there’s a lady in my longtime online sewing group who has caught the RRFF “bug”!! I had shared pictures of my three girls in their summer dresses that I made, and she thought they were so cute, she had to order one…AND a couple of Siblies, too!! (She calls me her “shopping guru”. I told her, I was happy to enable her, any time!! LOL)

    1. Good for you, Charlotte!! We need more “dolly enablers” in this world!!! It was Donnell who came to my house and brought her Sara doll that got me on the RRFF path. I am still so happy she did!!!
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

The window looks perfect, and I love that it’s easy to clean. I also love that you were holding on to George to help him stay balanced. It’s a great metaphor for a marriage.

The RRFF are also perfect — 3 girls anticipating Christmas. Their smiles and their dresses are perfect. 3 bids — maybe from the same bidder. I’d love those dresses to stay together. It’s great to have them listed.

And now comes one of my favorite things — a new sewing project. I’ve been pushing for Addy, but Nyssa would also bee a good choice (though there are no bad choices). You made some cute gypsy-style dresses for her. Something in fall colors would be lovely — or a Nyssa slideshow — or a fall slideshow — whatever comes next is going to be good.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I had to go upstairs today just to see that window again… It was wonderful with the light coming through. It was worth all the aggravation and time… and it looks really good too, even though it’s not even finished on the inside. :o)

Thank you again for the names for the girls dresses. I think they are just perfect and suit them very well. It was a great feeling when I hit that last button last night to get them listed.

One of my favorite things too… a NEW sewing project! You are a woman after my own heart… the next dress WILL be for Addy! I had already decided I wanted to make a Civil War dress and then you suggested it. Perfect timing! Thanks again! I haven’t totally decided on a fabric yet, but I will soon…

      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne and George, Great work on that window! It gives that gable an historic cottage charm. The “girls” dresses are already taking off like hotcakes! What a treat for all the RRFF collectors. I wish I could add a Christmas dress to my collection but we are under a month until the move. I am trying to be very good and sit on my hands! But I do love to look : )

    1. Thanks Debbie,
I really like the looks of the window too… it looks like it was supposed to be up there. And the light it lets in upstairs is wonderful! But I sure am glad that project is done! I told my hubby yesterday, I hoped this was our last “dangerous” project! I think it might be…

I was thrilled to wake up to 3 bids on the girls dresses. YAY!

Isn’t it HARD to be GOOD? I hope you can hold out, but we won’t think any less of you if you can’t! :o)

      Thanks Debbie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

What a great job on that window. Such a precarious spot from where to work too. Really adds to the esthetics of your home. Now, maybe you need to add that little Santa waving from the window like Linda suggested. šŸ™‚ So, are all the outside details from the reroof now complete? If so, bring on the floors. Oh, I forgot painting first. In your spare time, have the color choices been narrowed down? šŸ™‚
So glad you were able to list the dresses. Look at all of the bids already. Sweet!
We had raindrops last night and more is expected this week. Might put an end to fire season, thankfully, but won’t make a dent in the empty reservoirs.

    1. Thanks for the compliments on the window Joy! I’m glad it’s done and I’m really glad I like it so much! It’s SO much better than that slab of plywood covering the opening. The outside details are done, I think… unless we ever decided to do new gutters… We still have the 4 dining room windows to replace… the last of the windows we have put in… maybe someday…

I have been painting today..and spackling, and my hubby was caulking! I was painting the trim up by the ceiling in the sitting room… It was very yellowed and really needed to be painted. It didn’t take me too long to do it… and now it’s time for some color in there… and then the floor… oh boy!

I’m happy to have gotten some bids on the dresses so early… I guess I picked the right colors on the right girl… they all received bids! :o)

I hope you get more raindrops! You certainly need some…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Hurrah for that dear little tilt-out window! I cannot begin to fathom standing on ladder rungs for so long and so precariously. I hope this is the last dangerous project, Jeanne, and boy, did you ever have a full day. Dinner at 9:15? Is Carbondale in Europe somewhere, like Spain?

Oh, those dresses are great, and you are very smart to post photos of them together. Well done, JM! Looks like an exciting trio of auctions.

Debbieā€¦how is that packing going? I hear you about being ā€œgoodā€ to not add any more Dolly things before the move is done, but, my dear, thereā€™s always room to tuck in a little something. Right? And thanks for the good wishes for getting my doll in yesterday while The Man was in the house. All went SO well, though I was a little anxious because our mail delivery has been very erratic since last fall when good olā€™ Dave, our fantastic carrier for years, moved away. But thanks to my hubby being quite hard of hearing, I pulled it off very nicely. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ™šŸ¤“šŸ„³šŸŽˆAlexandra is incredibly cute. Iā€™m in Heaven, for sure!

Joy, while itā€™s great that fire season is coming to an end, the reservoir situation certainly is worrisome, for certain. Sigh.

Anne, I am reading the book you recommended. Iā€™m trying harder to be a more positive person and seeing others in a more positive light. Best of allā€¦well, maybe because Iā€™m not a sewer and had no idea what you were talking about yesterday with your machine, table, Perspex and spacers??? You have your Sara ! I got a real kick out of your just loving to look at her in her box. Whatā€™s not to love about these dolls??

Have a super day, ladies. ā¤ļø

Sally When I send the photo of the doll and dresses I will photo my sewing table just for you lol so you can understand what I mean

    2. HI Sally,
I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves my little window. It is wonderful to go upstairs and have some extra light coming in!

This is probably our last dangerous project. We do want to put in 4 new dining room windows, but that’s on ground level. We have replaced all the other windows in the house and just have these last 4 to do.

I really enjoyed taking the pictures of the girls all together… they really enjoyed it too! Thanks for being excited for the listings too!

I happened to look up the RRFF Victoria and she is a real sweetie. I would have bought her if she had been a US doll. I even showed her to my hubby and HE thought she was cute. :o) Congrats on Alexandra arriving…

I liked it when Anne mentioned she was enjoying Sara even still in the box… that’s true love!

      Thanks Sally,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. The little window looks great and will add light and charm to the attic. If you don’t have tilt in windows anywhere else you will grow to love them. All of mine are that except the big picture window. They make cleaning windows a breeze.

Wonderful that you were able to get the Christmas dresses listed. Some lucky little dolls are going to be very happy. They are off to a rip roaring start.

    1. HI Laura,
Yes, all of our other windows tilt in too… that’s a great feature, isn’t it?

I was never so glad to get the dresses listed… unless maybe it was when I finally got Josefina’s dress set listed… I think Josefina was in her set longer than the RRFF girls, but both were in them WAY too long.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

What a sweet little window! You and George did a great job!

Getting the dresses posted with all you did yesterday was pretty amazing. I haven’t checked the auctions yet but it sounds like things are going well.

Ya gotta love those RRFFs – all of them. They are never ending, but unfortunately my bank account is. Not to mention that I’m running out of room. Sure wish I had thought of them myself. I’ve never seen dolls other than maybe the Cabbage Patch Kids take off with such fervor. I love hearing how some of my sofa sisters are assisting in spreading the news. How did I end up in an area with so few doll lovers? We had a gift shop here for a while where the woman would do a tea for people and their dolls but it never took off and the woman eventually either moved her shop elsewhere or closed it completely. I was never sure.

Thanks to everyone who was concerned for my grandson. I guess the blessing of all this was that if he had to fall he did it the best way, flat on his face. If he had hit at an angle things could have been much worse. I haven’t checked with Dionne yet today so I don’t know if he went to school today or not. They have off Friday and I know he didn’t want to miss the whole week.

Warmer weather is here for a spell but being in the 80s it is cooler at least in the shade. In the summer the shade doesn’t make much difference. I noticed the leaves are starting to fall too.

    1. HI Barbara,
Thanks for liking our new little window. I really like it too! :o)

Yes, there has been some activity on the dresses and I’m thrilled…I’m hoping to make enough to buy some new trim for the sitting room…

You aren’t alone in a place where there are no dolly things or people around… I’m in the same boat here in southern Illinois… My only interaction is with all of you on my blog… and then the few moments I spend on a doll forum.

I’m glad to hear your grandson wasn’t hurt any worse than he was too… poor kid… I hope he gets to go back to school… kids are pretty resilient and school might be the best medicine! :o)

Our leaves are starting to turn too… and it’s been in the upper 40’s in the mornings the last few days and in the 70’s in the day time… I love this weather.

      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Linda in St. Louis

Love the new window, Jeanne, and knowing how it got up thereā€¦ā€¦.wow! It certainly gives your house extra added interest!

Thatā€™s great that you got the dresses listed! Looks like they have been discovered by the ā€œmassesā€! I love how you told each little ā€œstoryā€ and added pictures of all the dolls in each of their ads. Three dolls are going to be very happy when they get one of these dresses!

I canā€™t believe eating dinner at 9:15! We are pretty much done for the day at that time! Itā€™s such a pretty day outside today, and Iā€™m hoping the leaves will start changing soon, itā€™s about time!

    1. HI Linda,
Isn’t that tiny little window a great feature to the front of our house? I love how quaint it looks up there… I’m really liking it!

Yes, the dresses have been discovered and even late in the night, there were lots of people looking at them… I am amazed at how popular these dolls are… but I’m not complaining!

I even made spaghetti too… it wasn’t just a throw together sandwich dinner… But then after dinner, we were both feeling it… I was late getting my blog post written, but as soon as I got it done, it was bedtime for me!

It is gorgeous here too… my hubby is mowing grass and I have been painting trim up by the ceiling…

      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Late getting to read your post todayšŸ¤” The auctions look amazing! Bids already too! That has to put a smile on your face!
Big congratulations on the window! I love the wide trim around itā€¦.just sets it off and to be able to open it easily is a plus.! The house is looking so complete and with the finished floors it will be WOWZA

    1. Thanks so much, Kathie. Getting bids early on is always a fun for me..and probably the bidder too!

Yep…a new window yesterday, new trim painted in my sitting room today, a new mattress coming on Friday and then those floors coming soon! My house is getting more and more presentable every day…
      Thanks Kathie
