Getting closer to listing the Ruby Red Fashion Friends Christmas dresses…

If I hadn’t been the good wife and helped my hubby with the window project, I just may have gotten the girls dresses listed on Ebay. Every time he went out to the garage to cut a piece of wood or pick up another tool he needed, I ran to my sewing room and snapped a few more pictures of the girls… as a group and also individually… It was fun but a bit crazy as I was doing it. I have a meeting in the morning at the Food Pantry and my hubby wants me to help him as soon as I get home, so I knew if I didn’t get the pictures at least started, I was going to be farther behind than I already am.

This is what he/we got done on the window we are putting in… it doesn’t look like much, but it was a royal pain! This window is from the “old” part of the house… we’re talking 1892 year old wood… so the 2×4’s are 3″ thick oak planks…and hard as steel… and trying to work 12 feet up in the air on a ladder is a bit unnerving… and also very tiring on your feet. We did get the side pieces of wood measured and screwed in and did a trial fitting of the window… let me just say…we are hopeful that it will work how we have it planned… it would have been so much easier to find a window that could just slide in the slot, but it was a weird size and a special order was out of the question… I’m pretty sure we can make it work…

Here are a few shots from inside and out…

I know…it looks like a disaster right now…

Here is my hubby’s head as he’s on the ladder… I am amazed at what he can do given his limitations…

I loaded 59 pictures for all the 3 girls and will divide them up. I hope you are all ready to bid on these sweet dresses… just seeing them day after day standing on my cutting table has made me fall in love with them… I thought I liked the red plaid one the best, but as I was taking individual pictures of the girls, they ALL spoke to my heart and I truly enjoyed making each one in totally different ways. I hope you have a favorite and cheer that girls auction on!

Here are a few new shots I took this afternoon…

Well, I hope I can find some time in my day to get things listed or at least ready to be listed… It won’t be too much longer… then we’ll see who is next…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

Sometimes, Jeanne, we just have to squeeze those dolly moments in wherever we can!!

Oh, my–TWELVE FEET up in the air?! Not for this girl, thank you very much!! But, I’m sure you and George will get the job done, and it will be one more thing to cross off your list. (That home repair and remodeling list IS getting shorter, isn’t it?!)

Your girls look lovely!! I thought the red plaid was my favorite, too, but it that green was is really gorgeous, too. I don’t know…..

Whatever happens is going to work out, but there are moments when I hope one person gets all three dresses. If 3 people do, that’s fine too, but it would be lovely if they could stay together.

As for the window project, it sounds like good wood, and recycling is admirable, and you two have taken on many worse projects — it will get done and done right. I couldn’t manage the ladder — but you’ll be careful, and surely it’s cooler than when you were working on the roof. You’ll be done soon, and then — floors!

What a happy Christmas scene! They are beautiful all together and individually. Your timing is great, sales of Christmas dolls and dresses have seen an uptick over the last week. Happy belated birthday to Rebecca! Looks like they are having a wonderful time on their honeymoon.

The transformation of your home over the last year is really amazing. So worth the time and effort that you and hubby put into making it beautiful. I hope you two will be able to rest and enjoy soon!

    Good Luck with the auction!

I am so impressed. Everyone of your girls photographs so well. No shadows. Perfect color saturation. Wow! Doesn’t hurt to have JM doing the photography either. Hope you can get them listed maybe today. 🙂
It is always interesting to see how long a project turns out taking to complete. But, it looks like both you and George have it under control, and it will be so nice to have some light in the attic. The space is such a delightful storage area. Reminds me very much of the attic we have at my parents old house. Might have to take a pic to show you.
Still working on those Halloween dresses for just a few RRFF. I decided to make another in the Siblie size just in case Natalie gets here early. She is on a very long journey right now and not really expected until November. It’s all Sally’s fault. Such an influencer. 🙂

So happy to be so useful, Joy!!! Hope our little Siblies arrive sooner than later. Happy sewing! Only Elinda and Eira are dressed for Halloween. Well, maybe Luca in his black and orange. 😎

So glad you reminded me of Elinda and Freya. They are already dressed. 🙂 Still need to finish the outfits for the boys which are not characters. We’ll see if everything is finished in time. Also have to put individually wrapped candy in bags so other person can drop them directly in treaters bags. Should be better than last year when mostly everyone stayed home. 🙂

Dear Jeanne, I like the green outfit best but they are all lovely.

I am convinced that you and your husband are definitely ready for your own HGTV remodeling show. You folks can do anything!

  6. Linda in St. Louis

Darling photos, Jeanne! Each girl looks so happy in her dress, and whoever gets them will be thrilled! I love the way the lace fabric in the back of the “windows”, look like snowflakes falling, to add to the magical touch! Beautiful photography!

Well, I must say that your current project is going to be the finishing touch to the outside! How fun would it be to put a picture of Santa’s face inside there during the holidays with a spotlight on it? I know that would be cute for kids to see!

Have you or any ladies been on EBay lately? What is going on with the way you categorize what you are looking for? Seems that they have done away with various brands of dolls and the way you can look for clothes. I hope it doesn’t make it too difficult for you, Jeanne, when you put these dresses up for bids. What next?

    1. Sally from Colorado

      Hi, Linda,
I have had zero trouble on eBay, but then, I just do my searches for ruby red fashion friends and ruby red dolls; I find all the mischief I could possibly want. 🤓

Rachel with the Virtual Doll Convention sent out an e-mail the other day talking about the changes to eBay. I couldn’t figure out exactly what she was talking about because I was searching that day and had no problems. Some of what Rachel said: “Wiping the page of categories for dolls, bears, miniatures, and many other major collecting segments leaves us all with tender hearts for more profound reasons than economic ones.”

I guess we’ll find out more in time but it sounds like it could affect doll collectors the most.

    3. Debbie In Tennessee

Yes Linda! I was so frustrated Saturday that I kept deleting my draft and starting over. I thought my account was “broken”. I looked at other dolls for sale in several brands and they all say the same thing, “Dolls and doll play sets.” How is a doll in an outfit a “play set”?

    Good morning!
First, Barbara, I hope Skyy is feeling less pain and recovery coming along. Poor kiddo.
Second, Jeanne, you DO take super pics and have, of course, a superlative supply of props. Actually, it sounds like a lot of you gals have props and more props. SO fun.
Second, good Iuck on the auctions; they should do well. Like Dorothy, I am a huge fan of the green, and it sure doesn’t hurt that Stella, truly the Rock Star, wears it magnificently.
The attic window will be so nice; and I guess the sitting room walls and floor are next? BTW, that new bed in the guest room is very pretty and with its openness of design, it will make the room brighter and seem larger. What you and George have accomplished this year with that house is just extraordinary. Go Team Wiedlocher!
    Hello, Alina and Anne!
Gotta get my track shoes on. Alexandra is arriving today. Wish me luck! Have a super day.

Good morning. Jeanne I can’t believe how much energy you and George have. I makes me tired just reading your blog. You are both amazing.

My Sara arrived on Monday. She is really lovely. I haven’t taken her out of the box yet I just like looking at her. My new machine is great. I have a table that the machine sits in but had to order a new perspex tray for it, they are made individually for the different machines. The Janome is slightly higher than the Elna so had to find the spacers that came with the original table!!, amazingly I put my hand on them right away even though I have had the table for about 4 years. It is great though, it makes a completely flat area to sew on.
Will send some doll pictures soon

I’m here around 4 p.m. after a day of doing many things. I had to take my car to the dealership to have the system reset after putting in a new battery. Evidently this is necessary on many of the new cars. The dealership is near where Sean and family lives so when I got finished I went by to see Skyy. He is on his feet and doing well. He still has a little drainage from his nose so he stayed home from school again today. I think he’s anxious to get back. He’s really enjoying middle school.

I love all the pictures of the RRFF girls in their Christmas finery. I too hope that things on eBay have not changed so much it causes a problem for you. EBay may end up regretting their decision whatever caused it.

  10. Karen from Kentucky

I like all the dresses, but especially the golden one.

Sometimes my husband has to work up really high for his handyman job. At first he didn’t like to, but he pushed himself, so at least he is more comfortable now.

  11. Joy in northern CA

Good for your husband. Heights have gotten harder as I’ve aged. Not a fan of the roof anymore. 🙂
