It must be “Get a New Doll Week!”

I had 2 different ladies email me today and both were telling me about the new dolls they were getting very soon… There is nothing quite like pushing that button and purchasing a doll you are in love with, or being the high bidder and winning the doll of your dreams!

Well, how about the dolls you get as a gift from someone… or maybe you buy your own birthday present… a doll! Maybe you buy a doll as a reward for something…

GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY!

Did you ever find a doll and you just couldn’t stop looking at her? You try to convince yourself that “others” will come along and just pass for now and tomorrow it will be someone else… Well, occasionally a doll comes along and you find yourself looking at her 20 times a day, (just to make sure she’s as pretty as you think she is…) and then in a moment of weakness you DO hit that button and buy her… then you wonder if she’ll be as wonderful as you “HOPE” she will be… and then comes the waiting, and the stalking the mailbox and then that opening of the box…

I succumbed to a doll about 3 weeks ago and said she was my reward for getting my kitchen cabinets painted… (I’m almost done!) I was going to wait UNTIL I was all done, but I was concerned that she’d be sold out… so I got her…

Who did I get? Well, I have to get a pretty one so she’ll make me lots of money for modeling my doll clothes… The prettier the doll, the better your clothes sell… (Just what someone told me!)

Well, it’s another Ruby Red Fashion Friend… and she’s Stella Rock Star… and she has long red hair…

Here was my box opening… (She was supposed to come on the day when my hubby was in town doing something for someone, and she didn’t come that day… she came the day he was in the dining room and the mailman came to the door with the box!) My hubby recognized the size of the box and said, kind of in a baby talk kind of way, “Did you buy another doll?” So I had to show him Stella… The first thing he said was, “Well, I like her pretty hair and love that she’s a smiling doll!” I think I was okay! :o)

Anyway, here was my box… it’s the moment of truth… when you turn that box over, will it be love at first sight or Meh…

I could see her fairly well through the plastic cover of the box she was in…

She looked pretty cute to me…

Now a little clearer with the box taken apart…

The Ruby Red Fashion Friends dolls are packaged VERY VERY well…those dolls can’t move an inch in those boxes… everything is tied down and wrapped and protected…

Now, here we go… the first really good glimpse of her without anything between us…

She comes dressed in a pair of jeans with appliques on them, a pair of glittery boots, a black tank top, a soft blue sweater with stars on it, and there is dark gray wool cap for her…

I’m going to be selling her outfit…

She has the most beautiful hair… kind of two tone reddish color with blondish highlights… It’s VERY silky and pretty… her bangs aren’t as thick as Sara’s and are easily parted and made a bit wispy in the middle…

She has a very pretty complexion and pretty green eyes… she is a bit on the grayish side in person, but not so much in pictures…

I actually found a little bit of time and started an outfit for her… I only have the tee made and the start of the green… so my pictures are almost all the same… just different angles…

I can’t decide it I’m going to make this into a dress or a romper…

So that was it for me… painting, helping my hubby with a project upstairs, and a little time for sewing…

Anyone else get a doll lately? I just realized… buying dolls? It’s in my job description! :o) I HAVE to! :o)

See you tomorrow…
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Jeanne she is so pretty. I have Bella and really want another one and soon. I’m not very patient but I am paying off a credit card this month. Then I can maybe get another. I also want a Maru Chloe mini pal , but bill paying has to come first.

  2. Charlotte Trayer

Ooh, wow, congratulations on your new doll!! Stella is gorgeous!! Hm….do I need another?! I do love red hair, and her green eyes are so pretty! Of course, I do have Bella and Hanna…

I did get a new (to me) doll from my son and his girlfriend for Mother’s Day, but she’s large and porcelain, so not for “playing”….I’ll try to take a picture to share in the near future. She’s really beautiful.

I love the beginnings of Stella’s new outfit! I would be inclined to go for the dress–she can wear it as a sundress or as a jumper. I love the center front ruffle; if you go with a dress, maybe a ruffle around the skirt (if you have enough of the fabric) would be nice? Just sayin’…..

Woohoo!! There are now FIVE bids on Kirsten’s newest dress! I sense a real bidding war in the offing, especially with so many bids and still 3+ days to go in the auction!!

    1. Sally Kriebel

      Hi, Charlotte,
Looking forward to that picture of that new doll. I was so touched to hear it was given to you by your son and his girlfriend. I would say that young lady is off on good footing, yes?

      1. Charlotte Trayer

Yes, Sally! Actually, she and our son were in preschool together, many many years ago! They are now 46! He’s been married twice and has 3 sons. Not sure her history, but she has a daughter. Maybe this time it’ll stick???

  3. She is a very cute doll. I always like the redheads. Oh, and the blonds and brunettes too! Stella will be a good model for your lovely creations.

  4. Me, me, me! I’m so excited! I’m one of those who bought a doll yesterday! She’s Wren by Helen Kish! I’ve wanted her ever since the first time Jeanne made an outfit for her, but I finally got serious in the last few months and started entering her name on Google so both eBay and Etsy would show as having one. All that shows up is usually shoes for her. During the last hour I kept upping my bid but I was very surprised when no one else bid in the last hour as many were watching. She does have her irreplaceable books but I don’t think Jeanne ever showed her wi the originals. She’s far prettier on Pinterest than on the listing on eBay. So a big THANK YOU goes to Jeanne for reminding me of her in the posts on the blog when it’s Memory Lane Time.

Stella is a winner for sure. Hope I can resist. Jeanne has the added benefit of tax deductibility when she buys dolls too, so I hope she’ll buy another and sew more wonderful creations for Wren. I especially remember one ensemble that looked Asian and had a beautiful hair ornament, although all of them were wonderful. Thanks again, Jeanne ❤️!

    1. I meant to say she DOESN’T have her irreplaceable “boots,” not “books.” Maybe I’m excited this morning.

      1. Sally Kriebel

Susette..congrats! These dolls are so pretty. Which Wren is it?
Do you think we can inspire Miss JM to sew for them again???

        1. As far as I know there’s only one Kish Wren, but maybe Chrysalis is the designation and she is that one.

I looked up Stella and one lady did an extensive review. She noticed black dye streaks under the arms. She ended up ordering two more dolls to see if they all had that and they did, so she sent back the other two ad kept one because she liked the doll so much. I think I see a streak on Jeanne’s doll, but I ordered one myself anyway! Go, Stella!

          1. Congratulations, Susette. I think the Wren dolls are just gorgeous. They have a very German look about them. I hadn’t ever heard of them before Jeanne showed pictures though.

    2. How wonderful! I too have been a Wren watcher from afar. I do have a few Kish cuties, but I had forgotten about sweet Wren. Can’t wait to see a photo of your new girl when she arrives. She will be such a wonderful addition to your collection. 🙂

    3. I’ve never been much taken with the Helen Kish dolls but I do like Wren. She always looks so serene. So congratulations on the new member of your family. I hope for all the Wren lovers that Jeanne will start sewing for them again. I have three of the Heartstring dolls and am sad every time I think I can’t buy more. I’ve nearly bought every outfit Jo has for them and Tiny Betsy and new ones are slow in coming if at all. Even though I sew, I always loved seeing the creations Jo made for them.

  5. Well, congratulations, Jeanne and Susette! It’s always like Christmas morning when a new doll arrives, at least to me! That was really the only time I ever would get a new doll, so Christmas was always a very magical time for me.

Stella looks SO happy to be one of your very own, Jeanne! She knows she will be getting pretty new outfits, but I wonder if she knows that they aren’t hers to keep! 🙁

Susette, you are so lucky to get such a beautiful doll that will fit right in with your doll family. Wren was always so dainty and delicate looking in everything Jeanne made for her. You will have a wonderful time with her!

I wonder just WHO the other lucky lady is that is getting a new doll! They sure do multiply quickly around here!

  6. Sally Kriebel

Yes! Yes! YES! Woo-hoo, Jeanne and congrats big time! I’ve been saying you NEED this doll, and here you are already starting a sweet outfit. Bliss! I also say go for a sundress…or a top, skirt, AND romper-leg capris?
When I opened this blog up, I got positively giddy in anticipation. It’s so true getting “the box” after waiting, and opening slowly because of a little apprehension that you might be disappointed. Then the relief and joy! Nothing like it. Oh, I am just so doggone glad that I’m whooping, stomping my feet and clapping my hands. You go, girl!
And it is Melody getting Kirsten today? Yay! Can’t wait to hear about you opening YOUR box, Melody (and good luck with Jeanne’s auction. I am SO rooting for you.
And Susette got a Wren! Oh, Susette; I agree. I love my Kish Chrysalis dolls so much but got mine after Jeanne apparently stopped sewing for them. Every time she posts her pictures I’m in rapture and then bemoaning that I hopped on the Kish train a little late. So, Jeanne Marie….Susette and old Sal are “dreaming of Jeanne Marie” doing some more Chrysalis clothes, right, Susette?
Joy revealed to me she has a doll in the mail and she can tell you about that news.
And yesterday afternoon, I plunked down and trolled through eBay RRFF for the newly listed items, and POW! There was a new Rozen that wasn’t too outrageous and BIN, so I hit “the magic button” and she’s on her way. I so agree with George….the faces are SO pleasant and sweet. I can’t tell you how many times I go into the guest room to just look at my RRFFs, move them around and reposition and just ADMIRE how precious they are.
Well, again, congratulations, and enormous thanks for sharing the unwrapping experience. You made my day. Now to get up, get dressed, and get marching with more spring in my steps!
Have fun with Stella. She rocks!

  7. I love your new Stella! I will share a recent discovery… I was not checking your blog daily (still had two working arms) . One day I checked in and you were in the process of crafting an outfit for a doll I had never seen before, you said her name was “Rozen” , she was a shy looking beauty. I exited your blog and started with the internet search, who was this mysterious creature? That day I discovered Ruby Red Fashion Friends. A few short months later I have Sara, Bella, and Daisy. They were the consolation for finding that Rozen was sold out. I laughed out loud at your telling of Stella’s delivery. Since last March Rick works from home, in front of the window which faces the postman’s path to deliver packages. He has been the recipient of every doll delivery in the past 16 months! I am thankful for his tolerance and patience with my hobby. Jeanne, thank you again for sharing your home, your family, and your beautiful creations with us.
    Debbie

  8. Congratulations Jeanne! I have Bella coming. Since she’s an aspiring fashion designer, she should fit right in around here:)
I finally received my 21” Meadow LL Ardyn and 16” Aya last month.. we’ve been having a lot of design time as well. Spring and summer are my favorite sewing months.. probably because I have so much fabric for those seasons:)!

Can’t wait to see what you create for Stella!

    1. So fun seeing Jeanne’s opening of her new Stella. That long red hair is lovely. The outfit so far looks perfect. Sundress, romper? Guess we’ll find out in the next episode. 🙂
How fun to find that so many are getting new dollies. I think we will all need to get on board for some Fourth of July outfits. Definitely need to celebrate this year. 🙂
I’m going to have to check and see when to expect my latest RRFF boy. He’s coming from Wisconsin, so taking awhile. Love those boy dolls. 🙂

      1. Sally Kriebel

        Hi, Joy!
Hope Luca shows up soon. SO cute. Do you have any other boys from this doll line?

    2. Sally Kriebel

      Hi, Shara,
Congratulations to you, too! Sounds like a lot of postal activity going on at your house. It would be great to see pics of new babies/girls. Great choice to get Bella the fashionista!

  9. Hooray!!! You got Stella. Sure didn’t take much arm twisting lol. There is just something about that doll. I have Sara, Bella, Hanna and Stella and love them all, but somehow Stella and Hanna speak the loudest to me. Haven’t a clue why. Maybe it’s their coloring. And what is it with the gray “skin”? A lot of my dolls are coming in with that gray cast to them.

We have had two new additions to the family recently. Zelia a H4H Girl representing Brazil and the rain forests. She is really beautiful. She joins Dell of Appalachia, Nahji of India, Rahel of Ethiopia, Lilian of Belarus and Lauryce of New Orleans a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. And Hanna’s siblie Sydney arrived the same day. Both are still hanging out in their boxes awaiting stands (which arrived yesterday) because I need to stand them to have room for them. Any more new members and I will have to redo my sewing room. I like to be able to enjoy them all while I sew.

I love the beginning of Stella’s outfit. The ruffle up the front is really cute and I love the fabric. I’ve made rompers for Bella and Sara and they look so cute in them. Their long legs really show them off well so I’m voting for a romper.

  10. I’m going to vote with Sally K, who wants both a skirt and romper pants to go ith the tops you’ve already made. I do think that green/teal/whatever color is perfect for Stella.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen much of Wren, but clearly she and her sisters remain very popular here. What about a Kish slideshow?

Another idea. Have you considered xeroxing some of your Wren patterns, putting them in folders. and selling them here? Like “Four Seasons of Wren” or “Six of My Favorite Wren Patterns” or “Five Easy Wren Outfits”?

First the slideshow, then go from there. I should have thought earlier so we’d have feedback by now.

    1. I’d buy them! I might have to make an appointment for her at the Jeanne Marie Hair Salon in order to get the braids done. No kidding!

  11. Congratulations on your newest doll, Jeanne. I love her pretty red hair. I do notice her chest looks a little gray. i wonder if the black dye from her shirt rubbed off on it. I know there are a few AG outfits that have that problem or the AG version does and the PC version doesn’t. I either don’t have that particular outfit because I didn’t like it or I have the PC version, so no worries. The first one that comes to mind is Felicity’s Riding Habit.

Stella’s new outfit is off to a cute start. I always liked that pointelle knit fabric on tees and the ruffle on the front is really sweet. Those RRFF must be the “in” dolls judging by how many sofa sisters are getting one.

  12. She’s just lovely, congrats on your new girl! 🙂 My Kirsten came today and I’m thrilled to have her. She’s a slightly late Mother’s Day/Wedding Anniversary present.

  13. I tell myself that I will buy a new doll one day, one that isn’t Our generation, but if I am ever able to do that I will have problems choosing one! Lol. There are so many I love. I do love your Stella, Jeanne. I bet Ashley would too. I agree with George, I like dolls that look happy to see me, not keen on the ones that look as though they are about to throw a temper tantrum lol.
I see Kirsten has 13 bids on her outfit. She is obviously going to do well with two or three days to go. It is lovely though so I am not surprised.
It is very cold this morning, It rained all night Tuesday night and on and off all morning on Wednesday now(Thursday morning) it is frosty so coat, scarf and gloves I think when I take the dog. It is days like this I wish I could wear a hat but I absolutely can’t stand wearing one. My daughter tells me it is a form of claustrophobia! I can’t bear anything that pushes my hair on to my forehead.
Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy your new dolls

    1. I’m with you on hats. Never have worn them for any long period of time. Last time I bought a hat was when I was in college. Probably about 1968. It was a cowboy hat. Only time I’ve worn it was for Halloween. 🙂

  14. Isn’t she the sweetest thing! Love her red hair, and smile and pink cheeks. So pretty.
The outfit so far really looks excellent on her…color and design😉. Either or both option would be nice.
My Bella is a favorite already. Love their size…not too big….not too small😉
On another subject….Anyone order Meadow doll last fall? Wondering how to get info from them about when to expect the doll. Ruby Red is lots easier to do do business with for sure.

    1. Just email Ewa who handles such things for Meadow and she will give you an update. It usually takes about 9 months for the dolls to arrive. Lots of dolls have been delayed because of Covid and the factory being closed. Hope you hear soon.

    2. I ordered a tween Ardyn the end of August, and I just received the final invoice the end of April. If you go on Meadowdolls.org under FAQ, past preorders, they list them by both doll and date. That can give you an idea when you should get your doll, but they are running pretty close to nine months from the end of the preorder.

  15. I was in a couple thrift stores today and found some porcelain dolls. They were very inexpensive. I did a “Jeanne” and bought them for their little shoes! First time I found some for $2 and $3. My local thrift store puts $10 or more on them. These stores were in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

    1. Wow, great shopping. Wish I could head to Grand Forks. 🙂 I definitely need to hit up some thrift stores here since I haven’t visited in so long, but doubt there will be bargains like yours.

Dear Jeanne, of course you deserve a doll for your hard work (smile).

What a cutie she is. You can see the work of Dianna Effner in her face. She resembles the Little Darling Sculpt 3.
