Pretty as a Picture are Nellie and Samantha…

I didn’t get as much finished on the dresses as I had hoped, but they certainly look more like dresses tonight than what I showed you yesterday. The fabric is very delicate so I slowed down my sewing a bit and took my time trying to get the gathers evenly spaced at the waist.

As you can tell, I DID add some extra fabric to the skirt and I love how it looks now. The blue one is hemmed but I didn’t get the pink one done yet.

The white cluny lace at the waist and the little felt flowers are just ideas of what “I might” do to embellish them. But it’s not set in stone…

The larger felt flowers sitting in their hair was just to make my girls look extra cute! :o)

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

These dresses are really turning out darling, Jeanne! I’m thinking I’d better not let April Eleanore near the computer while they are on ebay, or she will be bidding on the pink one, for sure!! After all, it’s “her” color! LOL

Can’t wait to see what embellishments you end up using, and what accessories you might add.

Congratulations on your very successful auction!!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Yep, you better keep April away…because I plan on making this dress cuter as each day goes by…
      Thank you Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Both the blue and pink dresses are lovely. Not sure how you can sew two at once, as my attempts have me still finishing something from Valentine’s Day and barely started on St. Patrick’s Day. Ha ha.
Maybe a simple fabric band that ties or snaps under the hair would be a nice addition or a narrow fabric bow. I’m sure the girls would be relieved not to have to wear a bonnet while hunting for Easter eggs. 🙂
Wonder where all of the comments are today. Perhaps everyone is out looking for supplies. They are closing schools in many places until the end of the month around here.
    Stay safe.

  3. Good morning Jeanne,
The dresses are coming along beautifully. There is something about the pink dress, it makes me think of my childhood… happy thoughts for sure. I think silk embroidered flowers would be so sweet but of course everything you make shines bright.
Congratulations to the winner of the LD outfit, it’s so lovely and the perfect Easter outfit.
I’d love a hat just like it if you have time that is : )
    Nearly forgot… Happy Friday!
    Hugs

PS Thanks for the information on Filet lace. I have a large collection of lacey things. Something I love but do not have the patience to make.

  4. Those dresses remind me of the Easter ones my mom made for my sister and me. This year they will be together for Easter.

  5. Love the way that fabric looks. Pressed perfectly it is so impressive. The colors are so soft and springy. It doesn’t look fragile ..just pretty. Looking forward to the finishing touches
So what is everyone doing while staying home more than usual? Maybe we should play the happy game and take advantage of the time to do those things we all put off because we “don’t have time” I did clean my bathroom closet..the top shelf goes way back and after getting on a ladder to see better I found things that were actually my mothers…(we bought the house when she passed.) plus one was a bottle of ear drops from when my youngest was a baby…1977. Go ahead and laugh!

    1. I live in a rural area where things are as usual, so not much has changed with me at the moment. But I did have to comment on your suggestion. When I worked and was off for a few days I would take down curtains and wash them. Take everything off the beds, including mattresses and clean under the beds, clean out closets and send stuff off to the Goodwill, etc. Since I’m retired and basically a homebody anyway and have every day to do this, it goes begging more than I’d like. I’d rather spend time in my sewing room, work on music and hang out on the blog. I’m not sure what I need to motivate me to do some downsizing and reorganizing. I actually used to enjoy doing all that. Maybe I’ve become a procrastinator. There’s always tomorrow.

  6. These dresses are already adorable. Hard to imagine them being more adorable but can’t wait to see. Joy was wondering where everyone was. Well I woke up really early and couldn’t get back to sleep. Shortly after drinking my coffee I fell asleep watching “Matlock”. Finally woke up and took a shower. I think I’m good for the rest of the day. The schools in the Houston area are closing down but ours is still open. Unfortunately my grandkids schools are closing. They are in Cy-Fair ISD. Right now they are in Indiana planning to be back for school next week. I haven’t heard from them so I’m not sure whether they will stay longer visiting my dil’s family or return home, but it does present a problem for child care next week since they plan for the summer but not now. Soooooo, it’s possible I may not get all the Easter dresses made I planned since I may have to pinch hit. My dil is a grocery shopper for HEB and her work may pick up right now so I don’t want her to miss work. A lot depends on whether my son has upcoming A/C jobs. If he comes out here to help out he will bring the kids, so my sewing days may be limited for the next week or two.

  7. Good afternoon everybody and Jeanne! Sorry I did not get to write earlier, but I wanted to have an early start and get my grocery shopping and out of the way early, then had to make cup cakes for our church fish fry. Now St. Louis County is in a state of emergency, what a mess! I did get TP at the store after finally seeing them roll it out on a big pallet after I had already passed the shelves only to find no TP! All is well, I got some!

The dresses are just darling, and I think they will be the cutest little girls together with those pink and blue dresses! I really like the blue dress! I wonder if you could make some removeable lace collars? I really think they need “something” around the neck. But whatever, they will love twirling around in this full skirts!

  8. Just checking in for a minute since I’ve been MIA for a week. Suffice it to say it’s been a really hard week here. My dear little kitty had two major UTI within four days and then went in for perineal urethrostomy surgery Monday. I’ve been swamped with medicines.
Our schools and library are shutting down. The store was packed this morning. I live in a large town, so a lot of things are out as compared to a city. The TP is gone, people a resorting to napkins.
The dresses are lovely. The blue is my favorite. I agree with Linda that a lace collar would be sweet.
