A Dolly Riddle…

I have a riddle for you today…I hope you can figure it out
I’m only showing you “part” of her… It’s a mystery, no doubt
I will be selling her fairly soon… But wanted to show you first
I have to make a dress for her… Selling her nude would be the worst!
She is quite tall, eighteen inches in height… Her body is very slick
Her legs are long and her feet are cute… her hands are curved a bit
These dolls; they come from Germany…and really are very sweet
I have to sell her and find a new home…She has a “new mommy” to meet!
Their eyes can be blue or green or brown, I’ll let you try and guess
The clothes she has on are really okay, but she told me she wants a dress!
So I will see what fabric she picks and make it the way she wants
Sorry for all the guessing today…enough of these dolly taunts!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. You have me stumped, Jeanne! Unless it’s a doll by Zapf or Gotz….that’s all I can think of. Can’t wait to find out!

    1. HI Christine,
I won’t tell you if you are wrong or right… Come back tomorrow to find out!
      Blessings Jeanne

  2. No idea, Jeanne, since I am more of an American Girl fan. On my monitor her skin looks very orange! And so we wait!

  3. I know the maker! I just compared the hands and feet as I have two this size and others smaller. Love the dolls and none here are orange. I’ll give you a hint. “N” Guess I’ll find out tomorrow if I am right. 🙂
Temp is already starting to climb here in northern CA. But, there is a prediction of rain on Monday. We haven’t had rain since I think May. Will certainly be nice for the trees and plants to have a few sprinkles.

    1. HI Joy,
Thanks so much for playing along… Yes, “N” is a hint I could have given!
Oh, my goodness, I hope you get rain soon! I can’t imagine going that long without it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

Dear Jeanne, hmmmmmm. The only doll maker I can think of is Sylvia Natterer but I don’t think she is German.

Still in Paris. Today Charlotte Noelle (Little Darling) and I were strolling down the Champs Elysees. We stopped at Ladurée to take Afternoon Tea. It was marvelous.

    1. How has the weather been? I’ve been to Paris but it was in early June. The weather was lovely then. Is it just you and Charlotte Noelle or have others joined you?

Dear Barbara, uh oh, I am getting myself in trouble here (laugh). I didn’t think about photos.

The last time I was actually in Paris was in 1999. There was a count down clock on the Eiffel Tower. I was using a camera with film (yep, that long ago) so I don’t have any photos that are digital.

Back to the fictional story, it is just Charlotte Noelle and me. We are visiting with my friend Joan who is a singer. That part is true.

    2. Sounds lovely. When I saw your comment about strolling down the Champs Elysees I immediately thought of the episode of Road to Avonlea ” High Society” where Felicity tries to impress the other college girls with her Paris shopping experience. Are you familiar with the show? It’s based on L.M. Montgomery’s other books. I hope Charlotte Noelle is getting some pretty new frocks. I’m sure afternoon tea was delightful. Macarons, yum!!
It’s wonderful that you can travel anywhere with your dolls in your mind. Mine would be heading back to Prince Edward Island. Best real vacation ever!!

    3. Hi Dorothy
Oh. I see you DID make it to Paris! I hope you and Charlotte Noelle are having a wonderful time!!! I’m sure you are!!!
      Blessings,Jeanne

  5. I’m going for a Sylvia Natterer doll, and yes she is German although it seems at least some of the dolls are made in Spain as are the Paola Reina dolls. I don’t have any of her dolls, but they appear on many of the patterns I have, especially the Minouche dolls which near as I can figure are the 13.5″ dolls. I love them and you can pose them in cute attitudes. I’m not all that well versed on the Sylvia Natterer dolls but, after seeing that some of the patterns I have fit them, I got curious and have done some research. I see her associated with the Gotz dolls but I’m not sure what exactly the connection is. Maybe Joy knows.

Well that’s my guess, but I have to thank Joy for the clue, since I don’t have one.

    1. Hi Barbara,
Joy DOES know because I asked her!!! You have done a lot of research and that’s kind of the fun of searching for information about a doll you know nothing about!!
      I’ll reveal her tomorrow!!
      Thanks Barbara,
      Blessings ,Jeanne

  6. allowed to hold her and set her up for display, but not “play” with her. I’m glad today because she is still in mint condition. I also has a smaller 12 inch one that was my mom’s, but she has been well loved. I also have an Elfriede Herse doll that was my mom’s, but no one seems familiar with that doll maker. She is cloth also and has a signed and numbered foot.

  7. Great, lost most of my comment about various German dolls and I can’t retype it all. Not sure what happened there. I was telling you about Kathe Kruse dolls and their cloth bodies with sewn fingers and toes and even had a couple of links.
    Here’s one back

I have a 26 inch one I named Heidi that is in mint condition that my great aunt brought from Germany to me when I was about six or seven. I think I got her in 1974-5.

    1. Hi Laura,
Another reader sent me some info about the Elfriede Herse dolls. I might post her info too…
You know so much about so many different dolls. I’m sorely lacking in dolly information. Guess I got into dolls a little too late in life. But I do like to learn!!!
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Could she be a Sasha? I looked at my Sylvia Natterer dolls and they have more defined fingers. Will be fun to seetomorrow
