Charlotte Noelle and the Mystery Box…

Before I get to todays post, I have a shameless plug to share…I asked Rebecca if I should share this and she said, “I would!” That was all I needed to egg me on.
Miroslava is a doll artist from Sweden and her dolls are called My Meadow or Meadow Dolls. She sculpted my tiny little 6″ Navi and my 11″ Bailey, who is still waiting to be painted by me.

She was having a contest to decide what her next doll should look like so she asked people on the Meadow Doll Fan Club forum to submit pictures of their daughters, granddaughters… anyone related to you, to give her some ideas.
Well, I remembered how adorable Hannah, my nieces little girl was when she was between 1 and 3, so I caved and sent in 2 pictures. Long story short, Hannah, is one of the top 20 finalists in My Meadow’s contest. I think the last time I checked there were 466 pictures submitted so I was really excited to see Hannah as a finalist…

Miroslava posted the finalists pictures on the Meadow Dolls Fan Club forum and Hannah is actually the first one in the grouping of pictures. I’m not sure “likes” matter in this contest, but it’s fun to see them adding up… :o) She has 30 likes now but “IF” you’d like to “like” her picture, just click on her picture… and I’d LIKE that very much!!! (You do have to be a member of this forum to chime in…) Hannah is in an aqua top and a yellow hat over her coal black hair… I know several of you belong to that doll forum, so that’s my shameless plug…if you want to help Hannah get some extra “likes.”

You can even leave a comment if you want. :o)

I snapped a picture of the first grouping of pictures so you’d know what to look for…

Okay..
Now on to todays post..

Dorothy from PA, as you know her here on my blog, wrote a short story about her dolls and posted it on the Little Darlings doll forum. I read it and asked if I could share it on my blog? She graciously said yes. I KNOW you will love the antics of Charlotte Noelle as well as the pictures… Dorothy is quite the talented story teller and I’m honored to have her as one of my readers… She wrote it in 4 sections and spread it out over 4 days…BUT I decided to be nice and let you read the whole story at one time… :o) Enjoy!!!

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Charlotte Noelle. She lived in a castle (well, really a house) in Pennsylvania.

One day Charlotte Noelle received a box from her Auntie Karin who lives in Germany.

“Yeaaaa,” said Charlotte Noelle as she jumped up on the box. “Get down from there before you fall,” said Mama.

Charlotte Noelle’s little sister, Aletta, came running when she heard the yelling. “Oh, a box!” said Aletta, “What is inside? Can I see?”

“No!” said Charlotte Noelle and she pushed her sister away. Aletta fell down and started to cry.

“Charlotte Noelle, that was very naughty. In this house, we do not push each other,” scolded Mama. “You will have to stand in the corner for a time out and think about what you did.”

PART 2 – OUR STORY CONTINUES

After her time out, Charlotte Noelle said she was sorry to her little sister, Aletta and she gave her a hug.

“You are a good girl, Charlotte Noelle,” said Mama. “We can now see what is in the mystery box.”

“Oh yeaaaa!” said Charlotte Noelle.

When Mama went to put Aletta down for her nap, Charlotte Noelle jumped into the box.

Mama returned and said, “Charlotte Noelle, get out of that box right away. It is not a trampoline!”

“Yes, Mama,” said Charlotte Noelle, not wanting to get into trouble again.

“Oooo, bunnies,” said Charlotte Noelle, as she looked into the box and saw the wrapping paper. “I like bunnies.”

“Look, Mama,” said Charlotte Noelle. There are so many things in the box!”

“Yes there are,” said Mama. “Is it my birthday?” asked Charlotte Noelle. “No, it is not your birthday.”

“Is it Christmas in Germany, where Auntie Karin lives?” asked Charlotte Noelle. “No, it is not Christmas in Germany.” said Mama.

“Are you sure it is not Christmas in Germany?” ask Charlotte Noelle again, leaning over to look into the box. “I think…” And just then, she fell into the box.

PART 3 – OUR STORY CONTINUES

Charlotte Noelle climbed out of the box laughing.

She said, “Mama, I found this gift and I think this is my name on it. Is it my name, Mama?”

“Yes,” said Mama. “Can I open it?” asked Charlotte Noelle. “MAY I open it?” corrected Mama.

“May I open it?” repeated Charlotte Noelle. Mama said, “Yes, you may.”

“Oh, Mama look, it is a beautiful dress!” exclaimed Charlotte Noelle. “Yes,” said Mama, “it is very pretty.”

“And it has shoes and a tiara and a little animal,” said Charlotte Noelle.

“Yes, it does,” replied Mama, “I think that Auntie Karin made that just for you.”

“Yes,” said Charlotte Noelle, “because it is Christmas in Germany.” “It is not Christmas in Germany,” replied Mama.

“Mama can I, I mean, may I try on the dress?” asked Charlotte Noelle quickly, wondering why Mama was confused about Christmas. “Yes you may,” answered Mama.

When Charlotte Noelle picked up the dress, she saw that there was a petticoat inside. “Oh, Mama, there is another dress,” she said. “That is not a dress,” corrected Mama, “that is a petticoat. It goes under the dress.”

“This IS a dress,” said Charlotte Noelle. “It is too pretty to wear under a dress.”

“Okay, Charlotte Noelle,” Mama said, shaking her head, “try on the rest of the outfit.”

“Oh, Sweetie,” said Mama, “you are so beautiful.”

“I like this dress that Auntie Karin made,” said Charlotte Noelle. “It is so soft. It is giving me a hug.”

Mama said, “yes, it is a hug from Auntie Karin.”

“And from Charlotte and Noelle because I am a twin too,” said Charlotte Noelle.

“Yes,” said Mama, “you can be a twin too.”

“We will have to take some photos of you in the beautiful dress,” Mama said, “You look just like a princess.”

“But I can’t be a princess,” said Charlotte Noelle. “Why not?” asked Mama surprised.

“Because Selah is a princess.” “You can both be princesses,” said Mama.

“Nooooo,” cried Charlotte Noelle, running out of the room in tears.

PART 4 – OUR STORY CONTINUES

Mama went after Charlotte Noelle to comfort her. After much hugging and wiping of tears, Charlotte Noelle and Mama returned to the room where the mystery box was.

“What did you do with your headband?” asked Mama. “It fell off when I picked up my bunny,” said Charlotte Noelle.

“Okay,” said Mama, “do you feel better now?” “Yes,” replied Charlotte Noelle. Mama said, “I am glad to hear that.”

“I just thought of something,” announced Charlotte Noelle with a big smile. “What is that?” asked Mama. “I don’t want to be a princess like Selah. I want to be duchess like Ms. Meghan Markle!” “That is a marvelous idea. I didn’t know you knew who she was,” said Mama. Charlotte Noelle replied, “I heard the big girls talking about her.”

“Well, you will be a beautiful duchess,” said Mama. “I am so lucky to have two royal daughters a princess and a duchess.” “A duchess is better than a princess,” stated Charlotte Noelle.

Quickly changing the subject, Mama said, “will you go and find Selah, please?”

“Yes, Mama,” said Charlotte Noelle as she scampered away.

In a few minutes, Selah entered the room.

“Mama, Charlotte Noelle is dancing around saying she is a duchess,” Selah said. “But I don’t care because I am a princess.”

“Oh dear,” said Mama.

“What is in there?” Selah asked pointing to the box on the floor.

“It is a mystery box from Auntie Karin,” said Mama, “and there is a gift inside for you.”

“Ooooooo!” squealed Selah, jumping up and down.

Mama handed Selah the gift and Selah quickly opened it and found a pair of sparkly shoes. She kicked off her sneakers and put on the beautiful shoes.

“Oh, I love these shoes!” exclaimed Selah. “They are princess shoes.” She began trilling around singing, “I am a princess. I am a real princess. A princess is better than a duchess.”

Mama could hear Charlotte Noelle in the other room singing about being a duchess.

All at once, Mama did not feel so fortunate to have two royal children in the house.

Selah ran out of the room to show her new shoes to the big girls. Mama begin to pick up the bits of wrapping paper and ribbon that the children had left on the floor.

Charlotte Noelle came into the room carrying her new dress and petticoat.

“What are you doing?” asked Mama.

“I am going to make a hug,” answered Charlotte Noelle. “A hug?” said Mama.

“Yes,” said Charlotte Noelle, sitting on the floor and gathering all of the gifts around her.

“A hug?” repeated Mama.

“Yes,” Charlotte Noelle said. “All of these things came from Auntie Karin, right?” asked Charlotte Noelle.

“They did indeed,” Mama replied.

“Well, she is our Auntie and gave us these gifts because we are her nieces so they are like a hug from her,” said Charlotte Noelle.

“Well, Charlotte Noelle, I guess you are right,” said Mama. “Now sit still a moment and I will take a picture of you to send to Auntie Karin. I will count to three. One, two, three.”

On three Charlotte Noelle shouted, “hello, Auntie Karin, thank you for the hug. Merry Christmas in Germany!”

THE END

Thank you Dorothy! I’m sure you brought a smile to faces from Pennsylvania to California and Wisconsin to Alabama! Thanks again for letting me share your story!

Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Charlotte Trayer

Well, that certainly is exciting news, about your great-niece, Hannah, being a finalist in the pictures on the Meadow fan club forum!! I will have to go over there and take a look.

After seeing the pictures of the Baileys you posted the other day, I am starting to wonder if perhaps *I* might “need” one, too!

So nice to see Dorothy’s story here, also–I enjoyed it on the ning site, but it was fun to read it all the way thru once again. Thanks to Dorothy and her girls, for sharing!

  2. Oh my goodness, Jeanne, little Hannah is adorable in that picture, and no wonder she is one of the finalists! I don’t belong to that website, so can’t vote, but I CAN say a few prayers for her! For a minute there, I thought you were going to say you sent a picture of your own Rebecca when she was little!

What a cute little story, Dorothy! I can’t imagine The time you must have spent, dressing the dolls, setting them up, then coming up with a cute story! Thank you Jeanne for sharing it with us! You certainly do have a talented bunch of readers !

  3. So, for follow up photos requested by Miroslava, did you send her that picture of Hannah with her hair up in that unusual style for the play? I think she would love to see that one. 🙂 When I first saw the winning photos, I glanced at Hannah and thought, where have I seen this sweetie before? Then I saw your name and it all came together. It would be so fun if she was chosen. Then there would be Hannah and Sissy’s granddaughter both made as adorable dolls.
Dorothy kindly sent me directions to find her story on Ning. Very fun to read with the photos of dollies in action and their special gifts from Aunt Karin.
I think Charlotte T. definitely needs a Bailey. The Bailey here, Amanda, named after my great great grandmother born in Kentucky in 1824, has settled in and is enjoying the wait for the Easter bunny. We do need more fun outfits to go around here though. I think Jeanne’s Bailey can do some modeling even without her final face up. Might need her eyes installed and a wig though. 🙂
Rain headed in today, but going to be in the 80’s soon.

  4. Hannah’s picture is adorable. I too, don’t belong to this club but I’ll be hoping she wins.
Dorothy’s story and pictures are so cute. I loved every bit of Dorothy’s story. The build up of finding out what was in the box was great. The girls were funny about their princess and duchess status! Great intertainment, Dorothy! Thank you for sharing.

  5. What an adorable picture of Hannah. It’s no surprise her picture is a finalist. So much competition and Hannah is one of the remaining few. Hopefully she’ll win and we’ll all have to buy her My Meadow doll. Do you know what size the doll will be?

What a wonderful story Dorothy from PA. Your Charlotte Noelle (love the name) reminds me of my granddaughter, Jaiden. Such drama queens they are. Love the story. There’s a lot of dialog that goes on around here between me and my dolls and them with each other. My hubby even joins in from time to time telling them they need to settle down and stop giving me a rough time, when they all want their new clothes at the same time. But I never thought of writing a story. I love to write so that could be fun.

I’m down to one Easter dress to make. It’s for Betsy. It’s a Londonberries pattern and they are a little more detailed to make so, after doing the one for Taylor Jane, I decided to save Betsy’s until last. I really have to pay attention to the instructions on these. I’m going to start it today and should complete it in time for Easter. I’ve got all my have-tos done so now I’m allowing sewing time to take priority. The matching dresses for my 18″ Gracie and my WW Camille came out really cute and, after fits and starts trying to design a dress for Sofie, I made hers yesterday. She loves it. She had wanted purple but all the purple prints were too large, so she’s happy with the sweet little yellow dress with bright blue and hot pink accents that pick out the colors in the centers of her tiny white flowers. It has a tulle overskirt that she says makes her feel like a ballerina. I’m still planning on taking a picture. I think it’s going to end up looking more like a class picture because everyone wants to be in it and posing could be a problem.

Beautiful spring weather here in southeast Texas. Really cool nights some in the 40s and days around 70. Rare here where the average high for this time of year is 80. We’re enjoying it while we can.

  6. Dear Jeanne, thanks for sharing Charlotte Noelle’s story! She is excited to be on “TV.” That’s what she thinks the computer screen is.
Thanks to all of the Aunties for your kind words.
