Hi everyone,
I was quite productive today at getting a few things done that needed tending to! My hubby left to go to Kristoffer’s this morning as they were putting in a new AC on my hubby’s truck. Actually it’s been a 3 day affair! They would do a little and then realize they needed another part, and so there were several delays. But he drove it home today and it was blowing out COLD air. He was one happy camper.
Likewise, I was a happy camper too… I managed to get Bailey’s pink dress set listed on Ebay and even listed it on the My Meadows Fan Club Doll Forum! I just received a nice compliment on my work already! YAY!!! Yu Ping is sulking in a box I have her in. I’ll figure out something for her later.
If you’d like to see the listing on Ebay for Bailey’s dress set, you can click the picture at the right side bar, or you can click HERE. It will end Sunday evening! I hope that’s a better day than Saturday! EEK!
Here is one of my favorite outside pictures… Doesn’t Bailey look happy and content?
Then I decided there was no time like the present, so I took pictures of Russell and James modeling the Marvel Comics Board shorts and got them listed in my Etsy shop! YAY for me! TWO things accomplished in one day!
Here is the link to my Etsy shop… if you are interested in what I have listed in it…
I Dream of Jeanne Marie on Etsy
Well, I’m going to have to get to bed… I have to get up early tomorrow and I’m not an early morning person…
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

I’m so glad that Kristoffer and George got the a/c working on his truck again. I’m old enough to remember when a/c in a vehicle was a real luxury item, and not it seems to come standard! Times change.
Speaking of a/c…..in 1964, when I was about to graduate from high school (or perhaps I had Just graduate…it was in June, anyway), daddy decided we needed a newer car than the 1959 Chevy Impala that we had driven out here in 1960 when we moved, and then to Michigan and back in 1962; we were planning another trip to Michigan that summer, so daddy went car shopping.
There was a 1964 Chevy (Belair, I think) in the showroom. It had gone from dealership to dealership, and NOBODY wanted it. Why? It had an air conditioning unit installed under the dashboard, and after all, this was Seattle and “it doesn’t get hot here”!! So the price kept dropping, and by the time daddy saw it, it was affordable for him, so he bought it! Oh, how thankful we were for that air conditioner when we were driving across Montana in July!! After that trip, my dad decided he would Always have an a/c in any car he bought, because even out here, on sunny days, your car can get oven-like, even if it’s not really all that “hot” outside.
Oh, Paul and I went with daddy to the dealership to get that car (the first brand new car daddy ever owned), and on the way home, we turned on the radio. The first ad we heard: “Wouldn’t you really rather drive a Buick?!” True!!
Anyway, congrats on getting Bailey’s outfit listed, and the board shorts on Etsy, too. I think having Bailey’s outfit end on a Sunday might be a good thing–Sundays can be rather laid back and not very busy, so more people could be scrolling, and come across Bailey’s outfit…..
I have taken pictures of my latest sewing projects and will try to get them off to Jeanne in the next day or two, in case she needs something to fill some space at some point.
Charlotte, this is a great story,. I love it!
I love that you lived in Michigan bc my hubbs is from Mason.
I love that you had a Chevy Bel-Air.
I have a picture of me and my mom sitting in our 1956 Chevy Bel-Air, it was dusk Plum poly color (hubbs just looked that up) on the bottom? and white on top. I loved that car. Daddy had to get a bigger car for us, so he traded in the Chevy and got a Vista Cruiser. We took that to the worlds fair in Montreal, and to Long Beach Island to stay in a cottage for a week, with a pile of sand in my bed by the end of the week!
The 56 Chevy had been all over Europe, Holland, Paris, Germany… Italy, and the USA.
I love that you remember this.
Thank you, Rosemary! Our 1959 Chevy Impala was coral and cream, and a hardtop style. The 1964 Chevy was “clergy black on the outside and devil red on the inside” (my brother’s words); daddy was not thrilled with that description, as he was a pastor!! 😂🤣😂
Jeanne, I loved all the photos on ebay, and she looks so happy and sweet! I can’t see how she would not be grabbed up! Also your shorts covered in comics should be a great hit! Great to hear that George is getting around and that he is so pleased to have his truck all cool. We are having cool mornings that go up to warmer afternoons. When we leave the car in the sun we have to turn on the AC for a bit. We are having TOO much sun and no rain. There are fires starting all around us, and we are getting smoke. Some people have had to leave their homes in nearby counties. It is scary! There have been some fires before, just one at a time, but never all around us like this. Praying for rain!
We are off to our Wednesday service down the street. When we get back I will be putting 2 of the sweet Kish dolls on face book for sale. Hoping it works.
I feel for your smoke/fires. Sure hope that some rain shows up soon.
Hi Sissy – Where on facebook do you put your dolls for sale? I’d like to look whenever you list.
Cuteness overload, Jeanne! No matter how or where Bailey is posed, she is adorable! That’s a great set with all the different pieces, even a puppy AND candy!
So glad to hear that George is up and about now, and will have a cool truck for the hot summer days we will be having too much of! How did we ever do without it? When I was a young teen, we moved to the country and our farm was on a dirt road. When we were in the car on a hot summer day, of course, we had the windows down to catch a breeze. However, since the road was not paved, Everytime we had an oncoming car, or were behind another car, we had to quickly roll down the windows so all the dust would not co e flying in! Those were the days!
What a great little summer swim shop you have! So many options!
We are off to the Botanical Gardens today to see what is blooming!
Oh, I hope you get some pics to share with us. I always love seeing the Botanical Gardens. Sharing with us, I hope. 🙂
Will do, Charlotte!
The one thing I remember most about not having A/C in a car when I was growing up was rolling the windows down and being comfortable while the car was moving until you stopped. Then you felt all hot and sticky. Have a great time at the Botanical Gardens. Pictures please!
Jeanne, Bailey is so adorable! What sweet pictures. That dress is perfect, I love the hat and shoes. All irresistible.
I hope you get some offers on the boy shorts and suits as well, Jeanne.
Good to hear George is up and around playing with engines.
Yesterday I spent way too much time going through Elizabeth’s boxes and just shoved it all into the piano/library room. very squishy but I do not enjoy going through that stuff, Almost done.
I did some sewing, making the last two huge blocks. And made some pajama shorts (a little scrap of flannel) for Felicity and also Lauren’s 14″
Not a lot of progress over all.
I hope all of you have a bright and happy day
I love all of the sweet Bailey outfit photos. So cute. I did notice that on the listing it says My Meadows, which is not how the name is spelled. It is My Meadow, singular. Not that it should make any difference.
That is great that the truck has some AC now. With the humidity, I can’t imagine even getting into a car without it. And a do it yourself job too. Good for George and Kristoffer.
I so remember those days of no AC in the car. In the 50’s, during the summer, we would often drive from here to the sierra to our cabin. It was about a four hour drive through Sacramento, the hot bed of CA, as far as I was concerned. Always, extremely hot in the valley. Anyway, here I was in the huge backseat, no seatbelts at that time, sprawled out and hoping for some kind of a breeze. When none appeared, I actually tried to go to sleep to escape the agony until we began the journey back through the coastal hills heading home. Sometimes, we would stop at the Nut Tree which was along the way, or at one of those orange shaped stands and get a cold drink. I have no idea how I survived the heat, but somehow, here I am. Weren’t those big cars fun? At some point, we too had a Buick. I remember it well, Gray/white two tone with some red accent. Pretty spiffy for the 50’s. But, I always wanted a convertible. Never happened… Thanks Linda, Rosemary, and Charlotte for the great vintage car stories. 🙂
I forgot, yesterday we had to go to Target for cat food and I, of course, had to check out the bins in front. They had the cutest little plush clip on your purse/backpack pets. Not sure what it is. Bear, dog?, but it is pink. And on the main aisle, they had the cutest little doll sized tote bags. Also, with the purse clips. They were made of a pretty cotton print fabric and would be a perfect addition for any of the dolls with the clip easily slipped off. However, I think they were thirteen dollars. So, I guess I would have to make one myself. Very cute though. Purse slips that go with designer handbags, are over thirty dollars or more, so the Target brand is reasonable in that respect.
Oh they were more expensive than I thought. But so cute. https://www.target.com/p/vera-bradley-essential-mini-tote-bag-charm/-/A-95032045?preselect=95019598#lnk=sametab
What a darling outfit for such a darling doll. I’m sure someone will find this ensemble irresistible. I don’t think I have anyone that can fit the outfit or I’d give it a try.
My Sofa Sisters were mentioning cars and it reminded me of our 1958 Plymouth station wagon, nine passenger with a rear facing third seat. We kids loved that seat. Since the back two seats folded down my parents got an air mattress for the back for when we went to the drive-in movie. There were four of us and we would all put our pjs on and usually all but me would eventually fall asleep. I’ve always been a night owl. Our car was lemon yellow and white. In 1961 my parents bought a new Plymouth station wagon with the same seat configuration and the same color as our previous one. It took some of our neighbors weeks to figure out we got a new car.
I gave considerable thought to the fact that I needed to add some boy dolls to my collection. I went to eBay and found an auction for a RRFF 14″ boy doll. So far I’m ahead but that could change. There were a couple other boys but they were Siblies and I was looking for the bigger dolls.
Good luck on the auction. Love the boy dolls. 🙂
And I forgot, your lemon yellow Plymouth would probably be worth a lot of cash now. Other person always laments the fact that he didn’t keep his first 50’s car. Your drive in adventures sound like so much fun too.
Good luck on the auction, Barbara!
Your memories of the station wagon remind me, when our son was young, we had an old Chevy Corvair (sedan), and the rear seat folded down in that! I bought a sheet of foam and something to cover it with, and when we went to a drive-in, we’d fold down the seat and put the foam up there, and Daniel could watch from there! I don’t remember if he actually fell asleep or not, though!
cute memory, Charlotte.
I do usually try to write something related to the day’s topic, but this is too good not to share. One of my sisters sent it —

It’s a dress worn by someone who took her job seriously — a serous dress for a serious person.
I’d like to see Jeanne duplicate this in doll size.
Good luck with that Marilyn lol. I watched the coronation as an eight year old. We didn’t have a TV then but went to my Auntie Eileen’s where the village had a TV set up in a school hall. It had a tiny 9 inch screen!
A nine inch screen for a whole village? Wow. I remember my 2nd grade class going across the street to the house of a student whose family had a TV. We watched Eisenhower’s first inauguration. The TV was 12 or 14″.
I tell people that my grandfather went from seeing the first airplanes to seeing the first satellite. We live in interesting times.
Thanks so much for sharing this Marilyn. I’ve never seen the dress before nor have the meaning explained. Fascinating.
Thanks for sharing this, Marilyn. I saw something about it on Facebook today, but not this video. Very interesting!
