Colorful Marvel Comics come to my sewing room…

HI everyone,
I was at the Goodwill the other day and found a brand new pair of men’s Marvel Comics swim trunks and they were SO colorful, I just couldn’t resist them. I thought they would make the cutest board/surfer shorts for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends! I don’t have a clue who half these action figures are, but I loved trying to fussy cut the figures out as best I could so they would have a few on each pair of shorts.

They were SO busy with the captions and the brightly colored collages of the figures, that it wasn’t necessary to have a square placket at the front with the eyelets and the cord tie running through them. By skipping that step and just making them with 2 rows of elastic, I saved 12 minutes on each pair I made, so I have decided these shorts will be $20, not the $23 the others are selling for.

I may decide to do all the rest I plan on making like these… with a cord tied, but not run through the eyelets… I think they look just as adorable, but it saves the buyers some money.

I don’t have these listed in my Etsy shop just yet but will need to take individual pictures of each pair.

So here are the pictures of all the shorts and then 2 at a time on Russell and James…

Here are the next 2 pair…

This is the last 2 pair…

Here they are again… did you know any of the action figures?

I managed to get outside and take a few pictures of mini Bailey in the sunlight today. It was a gorgeous day here… and look what I spotted sitting in the big Hosta…

I’m going to maybe try and get the set listed on Ebay tonight… since I have the pictures all taken and edited. It did make a difference outside and I hope you can see the color of her dress and hat better. The green around our house made a pretty nice background in some of the pictures… Bailey wanted to stop at every plant and flower she saw coming out of the ground. We did make a few stops.

Hope you enjoyed that one picture… it’s just a teaser till you see the rest…

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

What fun shorts for the boys!! I don’t recognize any of the super heroes except, I think, Captain America (light blue suit, star on shield). I didn’t see Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, who are the only ones I really recognize, because I, like most baby boomers, group up with the Superman TV series!

Bailey looks so darned cute, perching on the hosta plant!

We had another warm day today (high 60s, and it was 74 yesterday, which is pretty warm for us).

Just a little reminder, especially for Dorothy in PA and the World, that May is less than two weeks away! (Hope all is well–she’s been MIA for a couple of days).

Unlike most of you, I am not a Baby Boomer, but one of the so called Silent Generation! Tell THAT to my husband!🤣. But since I grew up in a family of four girls and no brothers, all of those super hero characters were a no show at my house, since I was a fan of Little Lulu comic books! Then I had a son, so only then did I get acquainted with them. I see Captan America, the Incredible Hulk, and Spider-Man on the shorts! What a wonderful collection, and so colorful! These will be a hit for the boys, for sure!

I forgot to coment on Bailey’s picture! What a darling scene! It looks like she “grew” there, and reminds me of a picture from Grimm’s Fairytale book, Thumbelina!

We are leaving for a doc appointment, can’t have coffee or food so will hit The Waffle House as soon as we are through with the doc. See you later!

Those little tiny swim shorts are sooo cute! And, perfect shot of Bailey! Sitting on that hosta leaf brings her into perspective… so little. It looks like the cover for a ‘doll story’! 🙂

  5. Good morning dear ones.
Jeanne, your new shorts fabric is delightful! When you are feeling zippy, you should try some shirts, or little jackets. Super cute fabric. I only see Spiderman. I did not have boys so I do not know all of these super guys. The shorts look so cute on the boys. They are such handsome little fellows.I
Little Bailey looks really cute on that huge leaf! I love this dress and the whole ensemble. I did when you first listed it, just a very pretty color.
Jeanne, I hope George is improving, is he walking around and keeping up his strength?

Is is voting day at your state? Virginians have to go vote against some gerrymandering trick. Our new governor is quite naughty. I am not sure the no votes will succeed but I must participate. It is going to be sunny and 60 today,. I have a long list of things I want to do, but first I have to get Elizabeth’s things sorted, I am focusing on 3 or less boxes that I can store here.
She had a pile of lovely books all bible based, and many CDs,. I wonder if a church library would like them? I might call her and ask her if she would like to donate them to her church library. She is such a dear daughter, I miss our relationship so much. 😢…. anyway, I have to focus on doing the present tasks.
I hope all of you have a superb day with sunshine.

How fun to see little Bailey outside enjoying her green perch. Not a snail in sight either. That is a great photo! The board shorts look fun too. I’m sure the Ruby Red boy gang will really love them. Personally, I’m not that familiar with the characters, other than seeing them advertised a lot. But, I’m sure that the Ruby Red boys know them well. I’m amazed that Jeanne is timing how long it takes to make the board shorts and how to save some minutes to make them less expensive for all of us. That is a great idea. Jeanne is so clever.
Here, it rained most of yesterday. We did get to Trader Joe’s and got in a walk before it started pouring, though. Callie Cat, was bunked on the front porch bench on her blanket and got in a lot of beauty sleep. She wasn’t even aware that Charlotte, from nextdoor had arrived and was standing by the door awaiting lunch. I very quietly opened the front door and put Charlotte’s food in the usual place and then closed the door. I thought for sure that I would hear Charlotte, alerting me to the fact that Callie Cat, was near, but not a peep. Shortly thereafter, I popped open the door and checked. Charlotte, had disappeared into the pouring rain, and her bowl was empty. Callie Cat, was still acquiring more beauty sleep. That was the total excitement around here yesterday.

We are back home, Doc visit was ok except when I had to give blood the person obviously didn’t know how to do it from my hand and had to quit on one and do the other so I got stuck on both hands. It is very difficult to find a place on my arm to get blood, so I go for the hand. Thank you for caring, Rosemary!

Jeanne, Little Bailey is so cute sitting on the leaf! I am looking forward to seeing the other photos on EBAY. The boys shorts are so cute, I do see parts of some of the characters I remember from my sons. The pictures are so bright, any little boy would love them. Great idea to be able to work it so the cost is less.

I have to get some of my Kish dolls on Face Book to try to sell. Lots of extra cost in our yard and with the fallen tree.

Oh, so sorry about the blood draw. Ouch! And I curious, what did your insurance company say about your tree coverage?? Hopefully, they are going to cover the clean up/damage.

I typed in “I’m” and it was changed. This has been happening a lot recently. Sometimes even whole words are changed.

  8. Bailey is adorable sitting on the leaf.

I only know a few Super Heroes. I have watched Superman with Christopher Reeve. I also really love the old The Incredible Hulk TV show with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. That was a popular one to watch when I was in grade school.

Love the shorts. I recognize a lot of the figures but then my two grandsons keep me up with things like that these days. I remember the toys and things from when Andrea and Sean were growing up but then had a lull before the grandkids were born so I missed out on a lot. But I’m pretty much current these days just by shopping from their wish lists.

I love the picture of adorable tiny Bailey sitting on the leaf. What a healthy Hosta you have to be able to support even her tiny weight. Beautiful plant! The color on my computer always seems to be right on with what you show when you take pictures outside. The inside and outside colors are pretty much the same. Sometimes when you say a dress is a certain color but it’s not showing up like that for you, the color I see is what you say it should be. Don’t really understand how color works on the computer because you’d think I would be seeing the color in your picture but I seem to be seeing the true color.

Jeanne, I just received the swimsuit and flip-flops I ordered from you. Love, love, love them. Can’t wait to pull out the swimming pool and get my girls ready for a splash party. I don’t have any boy dolls but seeing all those wonderful board shorts for the boys makes me think maybe it’s time to get one of the RRFF boys. Maybe more. If I have enough boys I could do a prom scene.

Had rain yesterday and more today. I think there will be more tomorrow. Hopefully then it will clear up because David still has some work to do getting his equipment ready for the big out-of-town job next month.
